I'll say it needs flood insurance. It would scare me to live in such a low-lying area. That said, I don't have earthquake insurance and that's probably really stupid of me. It's pretty expensive here, of course.

Exhausted after an afternoon of dr appts and labs and xrays!!  And it was 98° on the drive home and of course my airconditioner decided to quit working!!

I like my RO, he listened to me and was very encouraging.  He totally understood my decision to go BMX. And understood I hoped to avoid radiation.  He also gave me a BRACA kit to take to the MO to do the draw and send in for testing. Now will have to see if ins will cover.

The MO was OK, I kind of got the feeling he is really going to push hormone therapy. It of course will all depend on the pathology after the surgery.  But the good thing is he says he doesn't use Tamoxifen, he would use Anastrozole(sp?).  I have to look that up. He said looking at my family history, that if I do have the gene, it most likely came from my father's side of the family (prostate, pancreatic, stomach, uterine/ovarian cancers there) than my mom's side.  She was adopted so all I know of her is she had bc.  That was a surprise.  He also said if I come back positive for the gene, I will have to have the 1/2 ovary removed the surgeon left in me after my hysterectomy in 1995 (if they can find it!).  He sent me for xrays and bloodwork which I wasn't expecting.

Thanks ndgirl for the bandage info.   I was looking on google at some drain images, gotta get something to contain them.  Maybe will get the cami with the pockets too..... I tend to be one that overdoes things too, so will be careful when I am alone.

Oh dear gramwe, that ear does sound worrisome!!

bobogirl, thanks for the link I will go and read there too.

idesim, very cool house but looks like a lot of work!!

    Hugs to all!

Hello everyone, well I have been dashing around like a "blue assed fly" today. I received my official Seniors Card in the mail this morning....Yay! I think! you have to be 60 to get one, so there is a down side:) The card gets you some free public transport, which I never use, and 5% discount at the supermarket on Tuesdays, I shop when I need stuff, so it will be a hot and miss for Tuesdays. There are lots of other discount things that I will need to read up on.

One more sleep till Bec gets here, sorry if I am boring you with this!

I have read everything, but there is a page change, so I will go backwards.

grammaB, it's all happening in your neck of the woods, so much to think about. I know my head was spinning when I was at this stage too.

Great advice from Zills too. Although I only had the righty off, I had really good movement. I was carving a ham, turkey breast, and cutting bread for Christmas with my right arm 6 days post surgery.

If you have the prophy on the other side, you likely won't have the SNB on that side, so you should have fairly good arm movement, but as Zills said, don't be reaching up for stuff. I bought a swirly metal "doohicky" that suctioned to the wall to hold my hairdryer, in case I couldn't, I wasn't going to have a bad hair day just because of this surgery! I never used it. I just had to lean over to wash my hair, and I managed to dry my hair leaning over too. I call this the "Surgery of Strange Sensations", not pain, but weird sensations. My surgeon called them Phantom Sensations, and nerve growth. He told me that before closing the wound they fill the "Area", (that's a little Bobo ldesim joke!) with anti-inflammatory meds. I have had lots of zappy electric type feelings which are said to be the nerves searching for their other side. Apparently, sometimes they actually find each other. Isn't that amazing?

There is one sensation that most of us relate to, it's been named "The Claw", don't let that frighten you, it is just a feeling that strikes mainly when you are tired, or have overdone it. I can tell you that it does dissipate, I rarely feel it any more, and if I do it's just there and then it's gone.

I understand you're not wanting to have to take the meds, I was the same. Just take it a step at a time.

Make sure you have big pockets, 'cause we will all be going there with you!

    Take care M x

Hi Zills, Bec is arriving tomorrow! I have had about 6 calls from her today, she's excited too!

Yes, my appointment is the 23rd. I know I sound like a "wuss", but I am going to need you there, just 'cause it is the first one.I am not really sure what will be happening.

Colin wants to make a day of it, have lunch, and go shoppping. The Surgeons rooms are just over an hour from here.

I hope you love the V pillow! I am still using mine every day. It is the best way to prop yourself up and be really comfortable. I kind of wrap it around me when I watch TV. See what you think and then maybe let grammaB know about it. She may find it helpful too.

I am trying to picture your big band aids! I just had that clear tape over mine, so I could shower straight away. Stitches were dissolving ones. I got the drain out after about 10 days, an the tape off after the 6th day.

It has been so warm here today. I just hope it continues for a few days. I was out and everyone was chattering about how warm and lovely the day is. One of the "old salts" said That's why this is called "The Riviera, we have our own weather!" I had to have a chuckle about that, doesn't everywhere have its own weather! LOL

I loved to let the air and a bit of sunshine get to Bec's bottom too, when she was a baby. She had awful exczema, and the sun helped.

    Take care...M x

ldesim, what a time we could have! I love to renovate, and have to say, I think I may have done worse than that beauty. My first house was barely standing. We took posession of it and I started to remove the window frames with a crow bar, that very day. That night, I went into labour with Bec! Just two days early!

I'd be a bit shy about the flood risk, but OMG what a spot to be in. You know how I love the water, and would do just about anything for an "Absolute water View"

That house could be sensational, I wish there had been inside shots. I know that feeling of not being able to get a property out of your head. I was like that with this one. Colin said I was like a dog with a bone! I did the negotiating, and pushed it more than I have ever done before, with a property. I wanted enough left to do the reno it deserved. It took almost a month of back and forward, but we got it!

I don't know what "escrow" per month is?

I spent some time on that site, showed Colin some of the properties. I was gobsmacked by the prices. Even a property here, with what the real estate guys call a "Glimpse" of the water, that being, you have to stand on the toilet, holding the shower rail, cock your head on an angle, and you just might see something that resembles water, well they get premium prices. It is amazing the disparity in prices between our countries. I watch the Selling New York show on cable, now there is an expensive town, and they are all up in the air. Some are reasonable, but others are WOW! Obviously, I don't know your Location Location boundaries. I could just slap the Swedish guy on that show. Great salesman, but nasty personality.

I tend to get a little too involved in the TV shows:) Is anyone watching the final season of Dexter, or True Blood? We get them straight from the US at about 3.30pm on Monday. Colin and I were set up in front of the Tv yesterday with snacks and chocolate. We got about half way through and guests arrived. I couldn't wait for them to go, so I could find out what was happening. Lucky we can pause the cable:)

You're so busy, just like our Bobo. I hope you both get enough rest....Take care...m x

Ariom, I love Dexter!!  I am a couple seasons behind, I have to wait to catch it on DVD or if I can find it online somewher.

I saw the mention of the v pillow and had no idea what it was.  Someone else mentioned a 'cutlet' I think, but that may have been for dinner, LOL, but what do I know??  There is so much I don't know....

bobogirl, I'm not finding the thread on preparing for surgery.  Still having a bit of a problem navigating the site, sorry.

Geeesh! Bobo, I don''t know how you are keeping up with it all. I am worried about your appetite. Isn't there a little something tasty that you fancy for dinner? I don't know if you eat eggs? I have been making vegetarian fritatta the past few days, and I love it! The mushrooms are so sensational at the moment, and the tomatoes! I bought a beautiful garlic infused Olive Oil, just a dash of that and some red onion, yum, I throw a handful of my home grown Coriander, or Basil in at the finish. I am either making you sick, or making you hungry, which is it Miss Bobo? How about some Jewish Penicillan,(my absolute favourite) without the Chicken? lovely light Spring Veg soup, with a hint of Ginger, and Italian parsley?   Ok I will stop, i am reminding me of my Mother, if I was ever off my food, she would make it her absolute goal in life to find something that would tempt me.

Now Bobo, no rocks in the Boobies! Taking a hit to the chest with a rock in your knockers would bring tears to your eyes! Remember my little joke at Aldi when the box fell on my right, very padded, boobie? There are other ways to get some weight in there so they won't ride up. LOL

I am still hanging for the proposal story, but only when you have some time to sit and do it without other things pressing on you. It won't be long now, and you'll be in that new little house, that you long for, and things will sort themseves out.

You look after you! M x

GrammaB, My dog Dexter is named after Dexter! I originally wanted two Italian Greyhounds that I wanted to call Dexter and Lila, or Lumen, I liked them both. We brought the dogs home, and discovered that these two dogs were weird. They couldn't work out the doggie door for love or money! I was on one side with food, and they still didn't get it. One of them would stand in front of me an eyeball me as it peed on my Turkish rug. The other was scared of everything. I decided that they weren't really for us, to be honest, I don't think the elevator went all the way to the top floor, if you get my meaning! I returned them to the breeder who was "thrilled to get her babies back", I think that was the problem.

I went to the shelter, and there was Dexter. Our eyes met across a crowded quadrangle, and I was in love! The rest is history.

Oh my gosh, I am sorry that we are confusing you. The V pillow is a pillow in that shape. It was my savior when I had the surgery. I ordered mine just before I went to hospital and it was there when I got home. You can smoosh it till it holds you just as you want. V up or V down.

The cutlet that Bobo is referring to is the partial prosthesis that she is waiting on that will be sewn in to pockets in a bra to fill out the "area" she is missing after her surgery. She wasn't keen on going to get fitted, in fact we had to really keep on at her to do it, so I am really p'd off that the saleswoman is taking so long to get back to her with the finished item.

There are a huge amount of alternative boobies, Bobo is making the Knitted Knockers for some of the girls. I am buying and trying all kinds, including the Microbead ones made by a wonderful woman named Mary who has a website called mastectomysolutions. She will make for you, or she will supply the pattern and the instructions to make your own. There are so many options, we will be able to help you decide when you need them!

Don't be worried about what you don't know, we are all new to this too, not really that far ahead of you, in the grand scheme of things, so we can help. Soon you'll be helping others with your knowledge too. This is a great "pay it forward" place.

    Just ask, anything!  M x

GrammaB, just remembered something for your Hospital list. Take a small cushion for the ride home. Keep the seatbelt away from the "Area".

The one thing I didn't have, but would strongly suggest you take with you...medicated throat lozenges.. I had a sore throat from the breathing tube, and they couldn't find me any lozenges. They offered me a sandwich when I woke up and was ravenous. You can imagine what I looked like, trying to get that down. I thought I was going to choke! but I ate the lot! Don't forget the lozenges!

ndgirl, so glad you had fun with your BFF! My girlfriends were amazed when I told them about all of you, too.

It is true that your friends feel for you, and support you through this stuff, but they can't "KNOW" like you girls do. It is a new normal that we are all coming to terms with, and it is so comforting to know that we can all hold hands across the ocean and understand how we are all feeling.

I love that I can talk about all my friends in the USA, Gramwe had her Grandson staying recently, and I was filling him in on the truth about Koalas, and Kangaroos. I wonder how the teacher took it:)  ldesim has been to Oz so she can back me up when I say there isn't much that's nice about Koalas. Kangaroos terrify me because they have a habit of hopping across the roads. I have only hit one once, but it scared me witless. Other than that, they are great eating, BarBQued!

I do hope you get some laughs out of "bees dick!" Take care....M x

Were you up late or early Ariom? Excited about Bec's visit I'm sure.

I'm so proud of myself. I remembered to turn on my fav exercise program and I was able to do some until I got hungry and had to eat. We'll see if it makes me crash early tonight.

I was very tired early last night but I napped in the am instead of after lunch since the baby was up at 2 am. Woke up at midnight but was able to go back to sleep:).

She was up again last night. I guess it's the last molar? Gave her Tylenol this am as she was so cranky. She won't chew on anything. I don't know how to help her.

Reflux is better. Eating an apple makes the biggest difference in quelling symptoms. But eating bland foods too and small meals. Nurse will check with Doc today about changing meds.

Bobo how do you eat soup in this hot weather? I think a frittata or quiche sound good as does a grilled portabella mushroom "burger".

Idesim. The house is wonderfully situated but I can't imagine the heartbreak and hard work a flood would cause.

Granwe. Hope today is better. Going to have to find a funny card this time. Keep us posted.

Going to walk and run a few errands before my friend arrives with dinner. Lets hope my stomach likes fried pork chops. It's my fav. Also bringing beans and taters. Have to check to see if I have cornbread.

Tell Bec we said hello. Everyone else stay cool!

GrammaB, Ariom is correct with the pillows for car ride. Check with your area or at the dr's office or even the American Cancer Society, I went to an office at Mayo Clinic that was called the Pink Ribbon Mentors and visited with a lady there and they give you a nice little package with a $25.00 gas card, a crescant shaped pillow that fits perfectly under your arm, which I still use in bed, it works just great and fits properly. They also assign you a gal that has gone through about the same procedure as you will have and they will stop by (if you wish) in hospital and also follow up with phone calls. I had a wonderful mentor that lived in Minneapolis and she calls maybe once a month but it was so nice to meet her. I know your state would have something like this as well, just not sure what it is called, I think in ND it used to be called Reach for Recovery but if you ask your nurse or dr. they should know. It really is a great service... I actually ended up with 2 pillows because the lady in the office gave me one and day of surgery another gal came before I was up to the room yet and left it with my son and dh. hope this helps, it is just so nice to have someone that has been through it pay you a visit and they are looking and done great! my mentor had inflammatory bc, which is supposed to be hard to get rid of but she is over her 5 years, went thru all the treatments, had uni mastectomy with no recon and was just beautiful! It really gave me a lift! Hope this helps in some way.. just know we are all here for you.

Arghh! Doctors office just called. He wants me to have a scope. I don't know anything about but am afraid if I have to drink something it won't stay down. Symptoms are better but it's still there. I was hoping for a script instead of the OTC I currently take.

I've had the scope. The only prep was liquids only for a while before. They gave me versed, which is related to valium and has the added effect of amnesia for the procedure. Afterwards they showed me photos. Interesting, but it could have been a photo of anything for all I could tell. I did need someone to drive me home and I napped when I got there.

Thanks Wren. I know I'm being a big baby but I just want chemo. Nothing else. Wonder if since I haven't been eating my apple daily have I had it all along but under control.

Another thought GrammaB. I'm guessing you have a cat. Think about heavy things like cat litter, laundry soap and gallon of milk. You will have to find work arounds in the beginning. I put the laundry soap on the floor and pour from there.

Thanks for the explanation Ariom!  How large is the v pillow?  I'll have to google it and look at images.  OK, got what the cutlet is, duh, should have figured that one out!

Have a great time with your daughter by the way!!

I'll look for sugar free lozenges, have to watch my blood sugar through all this too. Thanks for that tip.  Actually my diet while in the hospital is worrying my some.  The tstandard diabetic diet has way more carbs than I eat and if I'm fed that I am going to have blood sugar issues on top of everything else.  When I have my pre-op I am going to ask my surgeon to order lc/hf food or I will submit a form that I will be supplying my own food.

The Cancer Society here put together a "gift" bag full of pamphlets and booklets of all aspects of bc and did include a small pillow 7" x 5" x about 2" thick, that should work for the car.  It came in a cute home made tote, that I just might be able to modify for the drains for around home.

ndgirl wow, thanks for all that great info re the mentor!  What a great program.  I'm sure if we have that here I will be getting info either at pre-op or when in hospital after the surgery.  I know the Cancer Society has free transportation for cancer patients to and from appointments if one can't drive.  Since I live alone and my kids will only be here for short stays that will come in very handy for me!

You gals have already helped me so much!!  Reading all your stories and getting such great suggestions has really taken the edge of fear off the whole thing!

LOL, tomorrow I am going recliner shopping and may see if I can find some camis too!!  It is going to be a fun trip to town this time....no dr's!!

Hi Zillls I was up late, but couldn't get in here it wouldn't come up, just a page about it being under maintenance and that it would be back up in 30mins. It was like that all day, and again this morning. I got in by navigating around another way.

I just had a smack my forehead moment! I forgot all about apples being good for reflux, not for me, but I have read about others who get relief from an apple.

Don't stress over the scope. I have had lots of them too. I agree with Wren. It is nothing more than fasting before it and "twilight anaesthesia" its the scope in the other end, if you know what I mean, that you have to drink all the prep stuff!

I had two really nasty ulcers, from the meds I had to take for the Rheumatoid. I called them Heckle and Jeckle, they gave me so much grief. I managed to heal them without the drugs that were prescribed. I took big doses of Probiotics in a green drink like Green Vibrance for about 6 months, and at the next scope there wasn't a sign of them.

So sorry for the baby and that last big tooth. So hard to know what to do for them.

I am a year round soup eater too. There is barely a day goes by that I don't have soup. I love lots of vegies and herbs, and chicken breast in it.

Great news about your exercise this morning, do you feel better for it?

I hope you enjoyed your meal. It sounds delicious!

    Stay cool! M x

GrammaB! Welcome!  You seemed to have settled in nicely.  I'll have you know that Ariom is the absolute authority on all things foob.

Regarding the drains, let me tell you.. I had the cami with the pockets, I had a shirt they gave me with the pockets, I had a zip up sweat jacket with inner pockets.. I worried and worried about those damn drains.. and you know what I ended up using?  The large safety pin they gave me at the hospital.  I found that as the days went on, the pulling of the tubes was uncomfortable, so the pockets weren't working out so much.. by safety pining them up near where they exited.. it was 100% more comfortable. I didn't experience showering with the drains because even though I was able to shower while i had them, I only had them in 5 days and just didn't shower during that time.. haha.  I just used antibacterial wipes to clean.  At night the pocket cami came in handy since the drains just lay like on your stomach in the pocket as you lie on your back (that part sucked)

GrammaB. I have a Jacki that the hospital gave me that I never used.. I don't see a size on it.. I dunno if they are 1 size fits all or what.  I know it isn't summer clothing.. but I'd be happy to send it to you if you think you could use it.. if you're handy, maybe you can alter it to be summerwear.

    http://www.alittleeasierrecovery.org/

Ndgirl, what a nice story, I love the mentor idea.. I was just relieved I found this site in time to get me through surgery.

Moira, no inside shots of the house because it was that bad lol. Escrows are your property taxes and homeowner's insurance.   In most instances you are required to pay these monthly to the bank who pays the bills when they become due.  I could look inside houses all day long.. I miss not going househunting, i really enjoyed it.

Zills, hope you enjoy your dinner, it sounds delish!  Be careful of eating your favorite foods during chemo.. I've heard people can get turned off forever from them.

Hoping the baby is feeling better and you both are getting plenty of rest.

I caught up on this page, but I can tell by some of the posts, I still have a lot to catch up on! :)  I will try to do so later tonight :)

    Good Morning from Downunder grammaB!

So glad some of the info was useful! I hadn't thought to mention sugar free, but you're so switched on about that stuff.

The V pillow is 24" on either side. There are also those body pillows which you can bend to suit, but I really like the V pillow.

Don't worry about having a Duh! moment about the cutlet. I did the same with Zills when she said her son "broke out". I though she meant of his room, she meant a rash:)

Have fun shopping! I know you will!

It seems you have the same support in the US that we have here. Pillows, drain bags, and mentors. We also have Breast Nurses that visit, or you can call if you need them. I had a woman come to do the floors for a month, and meals on wheels if I wanted them. I knew of none of this before, of course, but it's all there when you need it.

ndgirl has all that info for your country too!

I am ready for Bec today, but the train is only running half way here because of track problems. She will have to do the rest of the way by bus. Can you believ she is 35, but doesn't drive. Neither of my parents drove either. I couldn't handle not having a car, so I have always been the family driver! Fortunately Colin is the driver here. He does all the long distance driving.

Well, I'll be off now. Do the Rites, shower, and potter about till Bec arrives. I will be checking in while she's here.....Take care everyone...M x

Idesim, thanks for the welcome!  I guess I'll figure out the drains once I have them!  I'll get the cami too, but yes, I would love to have the Jacki! That is so kind of you!  If it doesn't fit, I'll pass it on to someone else.  I used to sew a lot (made my first weddig gown) not so much any more but from the photos, it looks like I can do some altering so it could be summer attire.  Thanks!!  Smile  I'll pm you my address.

Ariom, I'll look at pillows while I am out shopping tomorrow too!  Or I will spend some time shopping online!!  You are right, it is amazing all the things that are available to help us, but we just never hear about them until we need them.  I expect there will be lots of things here too. I haven't been told of them yet, I guess all that info will come after surgery.

@Idesim, maybe I haven't been here long enough, I can't seem to get the PM to work.  Could you pm me and then I'll reply w/my info.  I know I can do that, have already made a reply to someone else.

Oh there you are! Posting while I am in the shower:)

ldesim thankyou for the "Foob" kudos! I am wearing a microbead in a Marika sports bra as we speak!

I have a terrible confession to make. I can't help myself......I have been back and bought heaps more Marika stuff. They sent me an email to say that they had another 50% off the clearance stuff. I went wild and bought another 30, yes 30 items, with the original 20, that's 50 items. I will be wearing this stuff till I am 80 at this rate. Colin is scratching his head asking where I intend keeping it all. I am thinking of more shelves in the walk in robe. The cost of the shelves will definitely render the sale prices to be not so fantastic! Maybe another ".....Moire" somewhere?

Oh I understand about the no photos inside strategy with the house. Are you still pining for it? I could look at houses all day too. We could have some fun looking for houses to do up! I love that! When I had a weekend off, and living in the City, I would spend my Saturdays going to garage sales and house auctions. That was my "Sport" on the weekends.

Thanks for the Escrow explanation, we have a very different system. Yours sounds far better.

I had lots of stuff to contain my drain too, but I either dragged mine around, I know that sounds gross, and it was!  Or I had it in a nifty little cotton shoulder bag, which came as part of the BC care package that I was given. A lot of the time I just draped it like a scarf around my neck.

Did no one else sleep on their stomach soon after surgery? I managed to roll onto a pillow, on the missing side from the second night. I am a "face plant" sleeper, Colin wonders how I breathe, he says no one could ever suffocate me with a pillow! I slept really well that way. Getting up was a bit harder, but I managed to slide my knees up till I was in a kneeling position and got up from there. The drain was wrapped around my waist most days. I was so glad to see the end of that sucker!

grammaB I had the little underarm pillow that came in the cancer care package, but I found a toddlers pillow from Target was better for me, but it's all a personal preference. I didn't drive myself for several weeks. I was told I shouldn't drive till I could take a fair hit in the chest by a seatbelt. I didn't like the sound of that so avoided for probably much longer than needed. I was lucky, I had Bec here for a couple of weeks. Her boss took pity on her and gave her time off that usually wasn't allowed, over the Christmas school holiday period.

    This time I really must fly...but I will be back later...M x

I'm waiting for everyone to wake up. He didn't go to sleep until late and she was up twice. I'm proud of myself. I didn't take a Xanax last night and managed to sleep some. Would be better except for this d@%# A/ R.

Pork chop didn't agree with me but everyone else loved it. They didn't call back about the scope. I say bring it on this morning! I was fumey all night. Still taking the blocker and waiting to eat some Irish oatmeal.

Have an eye doctor appt this morning. Supposed to be first one. Hope he isn't late. Hope it doesn't take long. Not sure how much umph I have left. It was a long, hot night. I drank a full 16oz of ice water each time I was woken up.

I had three drains. One for each side and one for my nodes. Mine hung down about mid thigh. I thought they were hot and annoying but no big deal.

    Hiya Zills,

Bec arrived, late, the train was delayed for a while because of some idiot tried to assault the conductor. He refused to get off the train, so the police were called. He apparently got tired of waiting, got off for a cigarette, and the train took off and left him looking aghast on the platform. Bec got a good laugh about that!

Zills, I can imagine you're feeling pretty ordinary after being woken twice. I don't fare well if my sleep is disturbed.

You didn't enjoy the pork chops, what a shame, you were looking forward to that meal.

I'll be thinking of you today, and hoping you hear about the scope, just to get it overwith and hopefully get rid of the reflux. I've had it bad today because I have been eating the beautiful hand made chocolates I got for my birthday. I knew I'd pay for it, but I can't help myself. Add to those the Thai Takeout we had for dinner and I will be sleeping sitting up tonight!

I have given Bec all her presents. I have been collecting bits and bobs since she was here. She bought me some Frankie Morello sunglasses, and a truly  disgusting card that we had a great laugh over.

I'll be off now, but will check back later......Take care M x

Welcome home Bec, your Mums been waiting excitedly for your arrival. Did you know beforehand that you have a whole group of new Auntie's? We are a diverse group, punk rockers, porch rockers, off their rockers, and we are all rocking this BC junk.

Breakfast was just placed before me. No lemon bars. Thank goodness. Be back later.

How great is it to have breakfast placed before you?!  Welcome home, Bec, you have all new Aunties!  I am your Jewish auntie.  I hear you want to be Jewish, and that is fine with us -- come on 'home' and have some delicious Jewish cooking!  And you can come to Passover supper!  I hope you loved your presents.

M, I wish I could have a detailed list of your Marika *splurge*!  In fact, I think you should forward me the email 'packing list' that comes when you ship.  I want to know everything.  Agree: time for a new -moire!  Love thinking about your 'swanning around' your comfy sea-green backsplash show palace in your Marika wear.    Agree about stuffing the knockers with rocks -- I was teasing -- but can you believe the knocker pattern recommended that?  Craziness.

Z, I am so sorry about your A/R.  Why must you have an eye exam after such a hard night?  I wish you could have stayed home.  I have not had the scope.  But anything with Versed can't be too bad... please keep us posted.  When is it?

Idesim, you are so sweet to share your jacket with GrammaB!  GrammaB, I have a little tip:  have not had full MX yet -- it is hanging over my head -- but did prep all the way up.  My BS was ready to go, then 'pulled out' at last minute bc this tumor was (happily) benign.  But waiting -- next time they find anything -- and this has been third time in the breast -- it comes off.  Anyway, I prepped up to the gills.  And I remembered something many of our sisters have said.  Don't go crazy buying things to get ready for surgery, because you won't need half of them.  I was all set to buy a recliner.  Then I read one of our sisters took her couch, turned the open part to the wall, filled it with pillows, and slept in a reclining position.  Lots of people bought crazy post-surgery camis, then just used button-up pjs or hoodies.

While I am a big proponent of getting some pretty and super-comfy lounge clothes for post surgery -- I got two pairs myself, I didn't want the kids to see me looking terrible -- I thought this was good advice.  Why not save your preparation money for some fun splurges for when you are feeling better?  And for those of us who are rocking different (or altered) body shapes, we might have to get some new clothes... why not spend the money on that?

All of this made me not go and 'splash out' on a recliner, or a wedge pillow, or expensive pocket camis.  Just thought I'd share.

Hugs to all!  Teaching for 5.5 hours today, plus taking care of our princess, somehow :)

Hi Bec **waving** from a new "Auntie" in Montana!!  Have a great visit with your mum!!

Oh Ariom! You are so leading me astray!  Now I have to go look up Marika!!  Just found out my ins will cover the cami. I'll get the rx at pre-op next week and pick it up then.  Depending on how all my new dr bills hit insurance, I will either pay 15% of the cost or 0!! Works for me either way.

Zills, so sorry about the A/R!  I need to get my eyes checked too. I'm overdue, you reminded me I need to make that appointment.

bobogirl, since I have the one cami now covered, that will do me.  I have been wanting a recliner for ages, just never could justify the cost.  Plus finding a spot for it will be tricky.  I don't have a single chair that I could say is really comfy and I only have a love seat not a sofa, so now seems the perfect time to take the leap.  I should have probably done it when my back failed me but now for sure I'll do it.

I ended up not going out today as it was just too d#*%#@ hot!!!  The airconditioner in my car decided the other day that it wasn't going to work anymore so I couldn't face the hour trip to town in a stifling car.  Need to get that fixed asap!

Most of the other things on my list are just small items so not a great expense.  But now that you mention it, I think I will get a couple sets of lounge clothes for around the house.  Especially for when my son is here, he is still in a bit of denial, so I want to look really good while he is here so he will see all is OK.

I did do something useful today! I called my ins to make sure my BMX will be covered and it was a very simple, Yes. No arguments or trying to deny for any reason.  What a relief, just knowing that!!  Now I hope they will cover the BRACA test my MO submitted, but if they don't, it isn't such a big deal now.

I've been doing the new clothes for new body thing for the last year as the pounds came off due to diabets dx and lc/hf diet.  I'mstill not down all the way, so all my clothes shopping has been done at thrift & consignment shops.  I'll be shopping there after this too to get some higher necked tanks and button shirts.  As I have been shrinking, I've been donating my clothing to the local Clothes Closet that give clothes free to people that need them.  They'll be getting a bunch of my lower cut t's and tanks one day.

    Have a good day!

B, GREAT news about your ins!  That is always the best -- that simple 'yes.'  All your prep sounds great -- so happy, in this case, that you will get the recliner since you really want one!  I didn't really want one :)

I like soma intimates for pjs... they always have good sales.

Great news about your camis!  I have news on the foob front as well.  Cutlet is in, along with gigantic ugly contraption bras and a couple of camis I might use for sleeping.  The woman at the shop was kind enough to tell me they are maternity camis.  I really wanted to know that, since I've had eight miscarriages, I adopted my children, I was never able to breast feed, I'm a bc survivor and I'm 43.

So tomorrow I've got to go with our princess (!) and try it all on, plus fill out ins forms.  Dreading this, obviously.  I'm going to swing by starbucks and get her a treat to eat while I try things on, and then I'll work as quickly as possible.

Um.. I don't know how to put into words my feeling about this, since I believe I'm supposed to be upbeat for all those who might someday have foobs or cutlets.  I'd prefer total flatness myself, but am stuck instead in a kind of half-life waiting for more bits to be taken out of me.  Ooh.  Not feeling that great about things at the moment.

However... if I were offered the BMX right now, it would be inconvenient, because then my wedding dress wouldn't fit.  Bec, I wish you could come to the wedding!  DLLP did not drive until LAST YEAR!  She's 47!  She drove me crazy with that.  I forced her to learn when we moved here.

Hugs to everyone.  What's on the coffee table?

hmmm, **adding Soma intimates to sites to check out**

bobogirl, I'm so sorry for all you have had to go through.  And he11 yes, it is perfectly OK to be down sometimes.  We're not out for a walk in the park here, there are going to be times we basically just fall apart, but then we pick ourselves up and carry on.  You have the added stress of wedding stuff to deal with too.  I personally don't know how you do all you do!!

I have to ask, because I can't figure it out, what does DLLP stand for?  I haven't seen that abbreviation before.
