new and future flat sister, with questions

Hello ladies!
I just got back from another trip into town. I forgot to pick up Colin's shoes, so rather than wait till next week when I ussually go there, I decided to have another lovely drive into Bairnsdale. It is never a chore, just 12 minutes, and really pretty.
What a stressful appointment for your Daughter gramwe. I have to say "good on 'ya!" in my most sarcastic tone to the genius. Running out of gas on the way just shouldn't happen. I hope we aren't going to rely on him to get her to the birth!
I do hope all works out for the natural birth, if that is what she wants. I am sure she is in good hands.
The OG must be feeling pretty disappointed. That's not a great set of options is it? but I would have chosen, as you both did. More phisio can only be good for it in the long run.
Now you gramwe, how are you doing with all this stress around you, not to mention the driving in the stormy conditions. I know you got the appointment sorted, and I bet that came with a F Femara anger boost!
Are you getting any rest? I think of you often, and wonder how it's going.
I'm sorry there is more hamster wheel for you.
We just had a meeting with Colin's home care manager, we have to do it every 6 months or so. Very tedious, checking the care package Colin has with this company for the girls who help out. The costs keep rising, and he keeps fighting for the girls to get better rates, but it seems the girls don't see the increase. I love to watch Colin get fired up, he's a Scorpio, and boy does he have a sting in his tail if they get him going. I just sit back and listen to the fireworks. He's so mild mannered most of the time, and then "BAM". Usually when they least expect it, and he knows the rules inside out! It's like watching sport, but I know who's going to win! LOL
gB,I didn't think it would be that easy to catch a cat!
I am so pleased to hear you're going to the appointment with a friend. Not that I didn't think you could do it, but just to be on the safe side. You don't want any setbacks.
I am sorry you're still having to deal with the smoke from the fires. We have that a lot of bush fires here too. We had especially bad ones a few years ago with much loss of life. One of our much loved T V News Readers, that I used to work with, and his wife perished. I find it so scary when you can see the ridges burning out of control at night.
We have rain today, and it is quite chilly too. I was thrilled to find a box of chandlier drops at the opp shop today. Some very pretty, different faceting, and some beautiful glass beads.
I also approached the Antique store in town about taking some of my Mother's china and the huge brass and iron scales I have here. I am never going to use or display this stuff again. It is very beautiful, but just not my taste, and Bec isn't interested in it either. I have to get over the sentimental part first, and then just do it.
I hope you're all Ok take care....M x

Well I did it. The baby will officially move to town on Monday. I had to go pick her up yesterday and my husband's work schedule is just going to get worse.
I actually picked up both kids, went thru the drive thru and was in my pjs by 5 pm. I have mixed emotions about her leaving but we can't keep it up.
I feel pretty good today but stomach still iffy. Oyster crackers are my new friend. Need to fold laundry and clean the kitchen plus paperwork. The things I hate.
I did manage my exercises today. It's supposed to be hot and muggy, waiting on storms. Being bald makes it nice outside.
It looks like we are still waiting for Ndgirl's results and we'll have GrammaB's too. Quit poking Idesim bobo. Sorry about the cracker crumbs GrammaB.0 -
So is the baby going to be closer to you now? I love getting into my pjs as soon as possible, Z. I went through an affair with oyster crackers once. How's the stomach? Your sweet boy. He is a dear heart.
Woops! My boss is here. More later! XXX

I am finally here! Sorry about the delay in reporting and thanks to all for caring so much! The appt with MO was really a good one and quite uneventful. Everything looks good, and I had a bunch of ?? and she took so much time and even more than I would expect. I dont have another mammo on remaining boob until next spring but do have to go to my local dr for a physical exam in 2 months and then again in 2 or 3 months, very doable. My bone denisty test showed my bones were almost as good as the 20 year old that they measure us against.. wish other things were that good! My sleep issue was discussed at length, she even tried to get me into a sleep trial but because I had sleep issues before bc I wasnt eligible, but they brought me lots of info including dvd's to watch and she really wants me to have a sleep study done, she wasnt big on prescribing sleeping pills because she says it is just a band aid fix.. need to get to bottom of problem. I told her I was taking valarian and she printed off lots of info they had on it and said go ahead and try, but usually end just taking more and more of it. ugh dont want that.
We got to my son's last nite but i was just so exhausted I didnt even turn computer on, still have a headache! Staying for a visit here for 2 days and heading home again. We are close to Stillwater, MN which is such a lovely area, enjoying watching cardinals and blue jays flit around, Jays are noisy and nasty but still like them.
I have another story about yesterday and it is a "dozey" if that is how you spell it.. anyway I had an appt. to see a fitter and get my other foob, bra etc. was early getting there and they took me in and so glad I went there, I told her of my dilema with my ditzy fitter before and she said as soon as you walked in I knew you werent fitted right.. turns out they know this gal from Fargo store, and agreed she was a ditz! she didnt have me measured correctly, sold me the contact foob that Mayo doesnt even sell anymore, the bra was defective and when I related some of the things i was told by her they were stunned, anyway they replaced the bra and foob and also I got another lighter weight amoena foob and the mona bra, which i love so far. Ariom.. the contact I have now requires no skin cleaning before and you just run it under the water with a small drop of soap after wearing and put it in the case to dry, it has a net with holes in it to dry off, my old one was a molded plastic form and no way to dry but of course it wasnt meant to.. also she told me it can be used for swimming now! They showed me how to attach and unattach and actually sent me out for a couple hours of trial wearing it! Guess I know where i will be going again for a new prothesis when needed! I cant believe that ditz can keep her job if she treats others as she did me.. I guess there is another gal in the Fargo office that is much better and I did know that later but wasnt able to get her at first.
Better sign off and get out of bed.. lazy day until we go for a boat ride later! take care all and thanks again for thinking of me.. I felt it all day and now we are with GB today.
Take care everyone!

: ) Nd so glad your MO visit was uneventful, even happier that you had a good experience with the foob fitter! Enjoy your time with your family, the boat ride, and the scenery. Hugs.
Zills, so the baby will be closer to you now? I'm impressed that you dressed to go out, seems to me that the world suddenly thinks pj's are the appropriate attire to go out in public. Lol Hope your stomach issues are better today. Hugs to you too.
Lawn mowing time.
Gb, hope you will be drain free today.
Hugs, seems I'm in a huggy mood today. : )0 -
Yea Ndgirl! So happy for you. Boat ride sounds wonderful even with my iffy stomach.
Baby will be 10 min away. Only traffic when high school let's out or getting stuck with people coming home from big city. But know a back way and still shouldn't be more than 20 at the most. Will get to spend more time with her. Will probably pick her up after the boy at 3. Unless have errands to run. One child at a time. Also she's moving to a big girl carseat (forward facing)!
Think if I eat every 2 hours, stomach might be happy. Not hungry but acidy. That's what I'm trying today. If it wasn't for my stomach, it would be a great day. Just need a nap.0 -
Zill, baby 10 min away is surely going to make life better and hopefully easier for you, and you sure need that now! hope that tummy issues soon resolve as well.
Gramwe mowing lawn reminds me that ours will be in dire need when we are gone, hired a teenage girl to water flowers on my deck as it was in the 90's this week, as I have said before ND is the land of extremes!
Sure hope drains are out from GB when I get time to check back in.

Haven't had time to read posts. Just quickly popping in to say I am off to see BS. Send good thoughts for removal of drains and ace bandage. Drains only put out 22ml in the last 24 hours. Wish me luck!

Morning everyone! Pouring with rain this morning, and chilly too!
Zills, I am so pleased to hear you're going to have the baby closer. It will make all the difference. I worry about your tummy. Did you manage to get any ProBiotics to try?
ndgirl, we have all been concerned about you. So pleased you're appointment was a good one, and that your follow ups are closeby and doable.
I can't believe that there can be someone doing that fitting job, that has such a reputation for not being good at it. Isn't it just wrong? So pleased you've found the right one to go to. I haven't heard of that Contact. It must be new. Mine has to be scrubbed and the skin prep is a bit of a nuisance. Not so bad that I wouldn't use it, but more of a special occasion foob. I have the Mona bras, and really like them too. Thank goodness they come in black, I bought two a couple of months ago.
I hope the boat ride is lovely, you've been busy...Take it easy!
gramwe, hugs to you, too! There was a woman in the bank the other day in her jimjams, (that's what we call pj's) it was so weird, but she went about her business as if there was nothing wrong with it.
My lawns were done this week, they look so lovely, but with all this rain and a high expected at the weekend, they'll need doing again in no time.
gB, sounds like you'll be drain free today. Fingers crossed, I hope so!
You're doing so incrediibly well, it's just wonderful. Take it easy when you get home, it will have been a big day for you.
Bobo, I do hope all is going as planned with the job, and you and DLLP have had at least a little time to enjoy yourselves while the children have been away. Have you heard how they are doing? Are they enjoying it?
Wren and ldesim aren't here today, hope all is well with them too. Seems the little group is doing OK, although busy.....take care everyone...thinking of you all...M x

Yessssss!! I am drain free!! I feel human again and not like some weird science project!! But alas still in the ace bandage. Maybe next visit..... on the 26th.
Hardly felt the drains come out, felt like a bandaid being pulled off. She took out stitiches on incisions too. She said I look great!! There is practically no bruising and all is healing quite well. She said part of the reason I don't have much bruising is the ace..... I said or maybe partly all the zinc and vit D3 I'm taking??? Who knows for sure?
So I still will need the nurses. I asked the dr about a new ace bandage, I am getting a rash from the one I have been wearing for 9 days.... she said to wash it, yet she says I should wear it all the time except when showering...huh? I ask that she OK the order for a binder from the viviting nurses which should happen. Then she said I could just go to a maternity shop and get a stomach sling or some such thing to wear on chest. I have no idea what she is talking about, but I am sticking with the nurses as my ins will pay for stuff from them. Why out of pocket some substitute??
No path report yet, it has been sent to Mayo Clinic for second opinion. Hopefully it will be back next week. I asked about the other breast and she said no cancer there and the final report of the 2 nodes she removed showed no cancer also. I asked about the no bp/IV in the right arm and she said not to worry about it, it is OK to use it as normal.
I am totally exhausted!! I am so glad I didn't try to drive myself!! We made a quick stop at the health food store but otherwise straight there and straight home. I think I will sleep like a rock tonight!! I got my V pillow yesterday, was kind of hard to try it with the drains, but tonight, can't wait. I just hope worrying about having to get up early for the vet doesn't mess with the sleeping!

Hand clapping with glee that everything is going so well!
I am glad you didn't have an issue getting the drains out. The nurse had to use both hands and one foot on my bed to get mine out. Not the most pleasant of experiences. LOL
The belly band the surgeon is talking about is just like a tight "boob tube", a sling for a big pregnant belly. I still like to wear the shapewear tanks for that compression. I would stick with the Nurses too.
I'm so glad you didn't drive too! I was worried you may just do it! That exhaustion is just so F overwhelming. I wasn't kidding when I said "I feel a nap coming on....thud!" It lasted for a good few weeks for me.
Have a lovely night...sleep tight...chat tomorrow!
I hope you love the V pillow, and try not to think about the vet visit, just sleep! It will feel so much better without those damn drains.

Yeah!!!!! So glad you are drain free Gb. Being rid of those things help to make you feel normal again. Please listen to your body and don't over do.. like someone I know did... : ( rest, pamper yourself, nothing is more important than you right now. .. I am truly happy that you are doing so well...
Good morning M! Hope you have a fabulous day, even with the rain.0 -
Awesome news from both GrammaB & NDgirl!!!!
I am loving the Dex pics! Look at that gorgeous boy!
Sticking my head in to say hi again! I just got in from an office function, I have another function tomorrow night and a Family BBQ out of state on Saturday.. which means I'll be up late tomorrow night as I promised I'd bring a few things.
Granwe, what would you do with a boring old normal day? I'm sorry about the OG's results and hoping that the therapy will pay off, but it sounds like he has a long road.
Bobogirl, I am going to break that finger of yours off! When do you get your babies back? I hope you are taking a little time for yourself.
Zills, I think you made the best choice for now... it will all work out. Cracking up over the boy, what a sweetheart. Your poor tummy, you must be so fed up with feeling like that.. I wish I knew what could help you.
I'll try to check in tomorrow night!! Hugs to all.

Popping in! What a day. I get the babies back tomorrow after a marathon 13-hour day at the college. Whew! What a week. More on first day of school on the weekend -- it was bliss.
SO happy that GB has drains out! All seems very well. SO happy about uneventful MO appt for ND! Wow! I was thinking about you guys so much this week. I vote for the sleep study.
Z, I too am worried about your stomach, but so happy the baby will be close. I think one child at a time is a smart modus operandi for anyone at any time. It's always much better for me when I can swing that.
Granwe, you are a whirling dervish! I wish I had you around here. I'd love to mow the lawn with you, and give the animals a bath, and scrub out the closets! You are the only one I know who takes cleaning as seriously as I do.
Ariom, I loved those pictures of Dex so much. I showed them to DLLP, and we just oohed and aahed. I could marry him. I love his gaze. You did just a great job with his haircut. I love that you left the hair around his nose long! I think those tufts are like his little feelers. I am watching the real Dexter this week -- it is great!
Hmm. No rest for the wicked t his weekend. I have to go to my brother's to celebrate my nephew's birthday. DLLP works in the mornings all weekend for third weekend in a row. No time to even unpack. And the children will be exhausted from a week with my mother (or five days). And I've got to prep classes somewhere in there. And grocery shop.
I bought the baby THREE rock outfits from a store called urban thread. A peach dress that looks like a cross between a tube top and a valence. A neon shirt that says LONDON. A sequined skirt. A black t-shirt with leopard applique. And a pink taffeta mini. All XS in adult size. Each item one dollar. She can wear them to band practice. Her group leader at rock camp may be having private lessons!
Our M, that dress you found at the op shop sounded so yummy! With the wedding now in March (2 - 9), we now have plenty of time to sort it out. I am still wearing my bronze-colored shot-silk strapless dress with a corset. I will lighten it up with flowers. And a lacy sweater. Do you think it will still be okay?

Just a quick pop in to see if anything is going on. I am about to fall over!
Thanks Ariom, yes, that is what she said, belly band. I will go with the binder from the nurses. For the rest of the year my ins will pay 100% of my expenses, may as well go with that. I was amazed I didn't feel anything when the drains came out. Just a twitch was all.
Thanks Gramwe, I am definitely one to over do, so I really have to check myself. Wanted to add that I too think you made the right choice with OG. It'll be a long haul, hopefully leading to healing, the other options will still be there if need be.
Idesim, thanks. wow, you are really busy! Try to take some time for yourself too.
Zills, hope you can get the stomach sorted soon. Nice that the baby will be closer. That boy of yours is priceless!!
ndgirl, good to hear you had a great appointment.
Head is nodding....that's it for me today. Night all, morning Ariom!

Hello everyone!
I am so glad I held back and didn't re-plant all my salad veg. It is just freezing here today.n The wind is gusting and the rain is falling sideways. Spectacular to watch but lousy to be out in it! There is supposed to be a high coming our way, but Mother Nature is just flexing her muscle letting us know that it will be Spring when she's ready!
ldesim, you're busy, busy with the social stuff, I hope you're feeling Ok? Enjoy it, and then have a big snoozy when it's over!
I keep meaning to ask if you've seen the finale of the Block Sky High yet, and if you have, what you thought? They have already started auditions for the next one.
Bobo, I thought it may get out of control this week and you wouldn't get a chance to have any rest. Well, it was good that you didn't have the children in the mix too. I wish you could get a day off, just to hang out.
Yes, I was so disappointed about that skirt and top for the Princess, I think they would have complimanted your dress beautifully, and absolutely, I think yours sounds like a lovely outfit.
I love the sound of the "RockChic" outfits, you're the best Mom! I bet our girl is just thrilled with it all!
I am so pleased you are enjoying Dexter. I think it has to be my favourite series ever. There are just two episodes to go till it is all over. I can't believe there won't be any more. 8 series, and I have loved them all.
gB, hope you're sleeping soundly after your big day.
Glad everyone approves of Dex's do!
Gramwe, I have had a good day, not too far from the couch! I haven't eaten so much in ages, but I rarely do this. I have almost finished the book I started today, called the "Afterlife of Billy Fingers" a book recommended by another member here on the boards...interesting!
Take care all...chat tomorrow! M x

Good morning. No Zills, hope that means you are sleeping, without stomach issues! Bless your heart you have had so much to deal with, I hope each day that it will get easier.
Bobo, love the sound of rock stars outfits and the price! Bargains are wonderful things. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned to the OGs therapist that our DDs room mate had moved leaving her with a very empty house and we had been out searching for a sofa. On Wednesday she showed us pictures on her phone of a beautiful antique sofa and chair she no longer needed, so this afternoon I'm driving the OGs rattle trap of a truck, towing a trailer, through traffic, to therapy and then to her house to pick up the sofa, chair and a treadmill for me. Please no rain this afternoon.
I had hoped you would get some rest while the children were away, instead you are going at break neck speed.
Idesim, you are another one going at the speed of light. Sounds like you have an action packed weekend coming up too. Hope you enjoy your BBQ.
Gb, hows was your first night drain free? Did you sleep well? Are you cat herding this morning?
M, hopefully Mother Nature will bring you spring soon. I always try to rush spring planting and then we get hit with cold that kills everything. I'll have to pull out the laptop to see the picture of Dex.
Time to start today's chores. See y'all soon. Hugs0 -
GrammaB, Congratulations on getting the drains out. It will feel better now. When you said Lolo complex fires, I looked them up. We have friends who live south of Alberton on Petty Creek Rd. I'm sure they're fine, but forest fires scare me. I saw a grass fire in Okla that had flames 10' in the air; can't imagine how much worse a forest fire would be.
DH is camping this weekend with his men's group and I'm trying to decide how much trouble to get into. It's 3 days of eating what I want, doing what I want, etc. I got married at 19yo, so it's been a long time since I've been alone. I spent yesterday afternoon putting a little sketch kit together. Discovered a waist pack I own was the right size for a sketch book and either colored pencils or water color.

Man, did I sleep like a rock!! For a while anyway. I had set my alarm for 8:30AM so as to get the cat contained in the bathroom. At 8AM, the vet's office woke me from a sound sleep that the dr was unwell (she has MS) and wouldn't be here until noon. Actually that time fits better into day's normal routine so maybe the herding won't be too bad. Tried to go back to sleep, 8:30 the alarm went off! Frack! Tried to go back to sleep again, 9:00AM the bs office calls and wants to reshedule Tuesday's appoint to make it earlier. I pick up my DS at airport that day @ 11:30, (lunch hopefully next) MO Appt at 2PM, and this appt was set for 3:45 in case MO went long. Ended moving bs apt to 2:45PM. A whole hour earlier! Tried one last time to catch a little more sleep......9:30 text from DD's DLLP checking on how I am doing. OK, I gave up and just got up!! I know those times don't seem early to most here, but remember, I am a night owl, though the last couple of nights I have gone to bed before 2AM which is a touch early for me....
I am still exhausted today. The vet ran 1.5 hrs late, my cat was not happy to be shut up for an extra couple of hours, and his quiet meows (what did I do to get this?) broke my heart. But he is out now and totally hiding from me. There is some mix up and my orders for a nurse today and binder somehow didn't make it to their office. (Despite reminding bs nurse this morning...) So I am still waiting for her visit and a shower!! It felt like grand central station here this morning, though most of the disruption was on the phone!
Gramwe, hope you make it home w/sofa, etc with everything dry. What a score!! I have never driven anything towing something. It would be very scary for me!!
Ariom, sorry the weather turned on you, but good thing you held back and didn't plant yet.
Wren, I think your friends are well away from the fire. They are north, alberton is off highway 90 some distance away. They may well be getting the smoke though as the wind blows different directions. From the incident map I look at, it looks like it is still growing.
Dang straight forest fires are scary!! So much fuel! My last year in CA, there was a big fire in the forest where I lived. Some of us would sit at the top of the hill where our homes were and watch as the fire crested the 2 ridges between us and the fire. Up one down then up the second and down on its way to us. Fortunately there was a river at the bottom of that valley, but the fire had already jumped it in a couple other places. Totally frightening!! They are relentless!
An interesting side note. We were in the midst of a huge fire in Sept 2001. It was raging and even the air tankers couldn't get a handle on it. On Sept 11, when all planes were grounded, we got a special dispensation to get the tankers back in the air. Those were probably the only planes flying in our whole nation that day!!
A drawing kit! How fun! Sounds like you have a fun week end of your own planned!

I had my mx 18mos ago. In the past few weeks, it has become very sensitive, both to touch and sometimes aching. Do you think it's nerves growing back? I never was completely numb. It's to the point where I'm thinking of getting one of those bamboo tank tops to wear under my bra. I've been going braless at home, but my uni is too conspicuous when I go out.
0 -
Wren, my PMX was in 2008. A few months in, I got the claw in earnest; a year in, sensation changed again. With this new surgery, four months ago, I do have aching and oversensitivity. I do sometimes wear bamboo tank tops under my bra, and that works, but in summer it's a little hot.
On our Ariom's recommendation, I got some really fine bamboo tanks, but I also got fitted for a prosthesis (it's all on the one side) that holds the area together. It presses against the area so nothing rubs on it or bounces it. It's better for me that way. And sometimes I put an ice pack in the mx pocket instead of the prosthesis...
I know our areas are different in shape. Just wanted you to know mine changed too. Oddly, I find pressure helps. I know that's strange. And I got these tiny gel ice packs -- they are for children's boo-boos -- and they fit perfectly in my MX pocket.
Thinking of you!

Good afternoon! That's almost a first for me!
I had to go out early this morning to pick something up, no yard sales or op shops today. When I got back I decided to get stuck into the front garden that is shrouded in maple leaves from the humongous tree next door. I had my run in with their huge Oak which filled my back garden with leaves. I will never understand why people who have such gigantic trees don't care for the leaf drop. I would be mortified if I was giving my neighbors so much extra work. Every time their gardener arrives, I hope she will do some raking in there, but it never happens. Then we have the gale force winds and the tree just explodes all over my garden....15 giant garbage bags later, and that is just one side of my smallest garden! Rant over!!!!
gramwe. what a lovely gesture by the OG's therapist, I be your daughter is thrilled. You're amazing! Is there anything you won't try? Be careful with that trailer, and I am hoping for clear skies and no traffic for you!
You're so right about the early planting. I am going to stand firm and although I have it all prepared, I am going to wait a little longer. I doubt we will have any actual frost, but you never know. Hugs! M x
Wren, you are an artist too. I wish I could draw or paint, but just not my strong suit. I hope you have a wonderful time on your own for a few days. I just love to have the place to myself occasionally too. I relish a lie in in the morning, it rarely happens, but I love a lazy day now and then.
I am feeling some different sensations too. I seem to be having more phantom itching, but have discovered if I scratch my head, neck or back, quite hard I can confuse it, and it goes away. I rarely get the "Claw" any more, but I must say after all the bending and stretching today, I have it again. I am still very numb, and have been since day 1, but the pins and needles under my arm are nearly gone.
I asked the surgeon about it all last time I saw him and he said that most sensations have settled by the 1 year mark. It doesn't seem that way though for everyone.
I wear a Bamboo tank to bed most of the time because I like that firm compression feeling, and it keeps the other side in check.
One of my favourites is the Bamboo tank/cami that has the bra knitted into it, so I can pin a microbead foob into the cup, and my natural side is contained in the shapewear cup. I like that for just casual wear. I find it really soft and firm at the same time.
Hi Bobo! well the children are home safe and sound, How did it go?
I agree with you, I like that firm pressure feeling, too, but I am the opposite, I like heat packs, not cold.
So glad it is almost the weekend for all of you...take care...chat later! M x

Good middle of the night:) Weird dreams and acidy stomach. Today was busy. I feel good except my stomach.
Boy has junky cough and on both liquid and inhaled steroids and an antibiotic. It's amazing the difference all ready after one day. His appetite hasn't picked up (yet) but he has lots of energy.
The baby visited her new daycare today. Did great. I got too hot while on playground. Her first day will be Monday. My goal is to not watch the cameras. I know it's what's best for the family. I think it's harder on me than anyone else.
Wren. A weekend to yourself. I wouldn't know what to do. Happy sketching!
Granwe. You go girl! I've never been brave enough to drive with a trailer. Maybe I should put it on my list of things to do.
Besides beating the odds and watching my children grow up, my other to-do is to dance with the zombies at Halloween. The big city dances Thriller downtown. Have been doing it for years. My old belly dancing buddies. Not sure if I'm up to it this year. May need to wait until kids are older due to rehearsals. But I would have the perfect hair for it this year.
Speaking of hair, I have peach fuzz on the top towards the back. My husband said to shave it. I'm just surprised. I'm supposed to be losing it, not growing it!
Bobo. I bet you are having a big reunion and spoiling them. Like they didn't get enough this week. Have fun at the birthday party.
M. Are you sick? No shopping and hard labor? How long before you did raking and sweeping? Do I just need to do it more so I don't get the band? I have a pt appt next week so hopefully I can get back to "normal". Can you reach into the backseat without any pulling on shoulder or pull blankets up over your shoulder? I feel it in my tendons, not muscles or joint.
GrammaB. Has the boy come out of hiding yet? Cats can hold a grudge for a long time. I was looking up JS moves for me and stumbled across it for rabbits. Wonder how you would do it on a cat? Much less rabbits. I know mine does it on horses too.
Ndgirl. Hope you're having fun.
Idesim. You make me tired with your weekend plans. What are you cooking? Don't get too hot.
I need to try and get some sleep. Steroid boy tomorrow and Miss Poopy Pants. She was constipated today. Put her in the crib since she was fussy. Pooped and played in it. Thank goodness I had a friend over as DH was gone. I don't feel like it's safe for me to give her a bath. Another pt question.
Good night.0 -
Oh Zills, I was so surprised to see a message from you at this hour. Glad it isn't because you're really unwell. Weird dreams, I have had more dreams that I remember, and much more colorful than ever before. I wonder why that is?
I'm sorry Zills I don't understand what you mean about trying not to watch the cameras. Are you not really happy with this day care? I think I missed something. I'm sure the baby will love it. I agonised over leaving Bec at one time, it wasn't for a lot of hours and only 3x aweek when I had extra hours at the radio station. She loved it!
I hope all is well witht he boy when you get up, later. Usually the steroids will make a huge difference really fast.
I can't tell you how lousy I felt after this raking, bagging and dragging today. It was about 2 and a 1/2 hours of fairly hard work, but this was the first tiime I have really tackled anything this strenuous since my surgery. This wouldn't have bothered me in the least a year ago, but I guess I am really out of shape. I did the Rites this morning, and felt great, I am doing 9 reps, and can walk for over an hour without a problem, but this has done me in. I came in, had a cup of tea and fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours. Now, F it! I have the Claw and some of the phantoms. I can't imagine it is because I've had another birthday! LOL
No Zills, I sure wouldn't recommend any of this crap for you, my sweetheart! Not for a long, long time. Yours was so recent. I thought 8 months would be fine, but is sure wasn't. I have done a lot of leaf bagging, since the Autum began, now that I think of it, but this was a much bigger job. The rest was just raking, and bagging off the lawn. This was getting under all the plants and into the beds to weed too.
I don't have any trouble reaching back, but I only lost one node, and I think that's what determines that kind of stuff. I was so lucky that my range of motion was barely affected. I still get the weird sensation and burn from that rotton Mondors Cording. My Mother had a full axillary clearance and she had reach issues for a long time, but it did eventually resolve.
Take it easy Zills. I hope you got some more zzzzzzz's....M x

It's good to know eventually it will go away. 9 rites! Yehaw! I need to start them. Not sure how to do the table or downward dog. Have seen modified versions of some of the yoga poses. Really haven't checked it out.
Her daycare has cameras so you can watch your child. I don't think it's a good idea. I know she'll cry and she'll be fine. It's more my problem.
No zzzzs for me. Too many hot flashes and more weird dreams. Believe it's related to acid even though I took gaviscon before bed. Still paying the piper this morning.
Miss Poopy Hand in her Pants again this morning. Will teach me to jump when I hear her awake:)
Going to try to nap while cartoons are on and DH still home.
Sleep well.0 -
Hi Zills, so sorry you didn't get more sleep! I hope the children are well. Oh gosh, the hand in the pants, yep, you need to get there fast! LOL
I have to tell you, the books about the Rites are very interesting. They do have alternative exercises for anyone who can't do the positions. I do the alternative no4 which is the table, my shoulders just can't take the weight. Also, the books state if you are ill, or can't do the 5 positions any more than 3 times, that's fine. Three reps are far better than none and if you can't manage the 5 positions, try to do no 1, the spin, a couple of times a day. It is a very accomodating system. As I mentioned before, I knew I could have done more reps at the start, but I have stuck with just adding another rep every couple of weeks. Doing 9 is still so quick in the morning, and easy.
Just wondering Zills, are you a big water drinker? My gastro guy told me to drink lots of water to dilute the acid. I am carefull not to do it too soon before bed, as it has a habit of rising when I lie down, because I have a hiatus hernia.
Hope you got a nao in during the cartoons...have a good day, I am off to bed. M x

Ariom, Who makes the bamboo tank with support? Alas, I'm not an artist, just a wannabe. But I enjoy trying and save a few of my tries.

(grumble, grumble....lost this whole post when I hit the wrong button and closed my browser....I hate that!!)
Slept fairly well last night and with no interruptions in the morning got up at normal time. But still feel tired. I'll won't sleep really well until I get this wrapping off my chest! The nurse said now that I can do it myself, I could take breaks during the day and then put it back on. But if having it on 24/7 is what has kept the bruising and fluid retention down, I'll stick with it for another 4 days until I see the bs on Tuesday. If she wants me in it longer, then I may consider breaks. Tuesday is 2 weeks post surgery, isn't that long enough to be bound?
The cat came out of hiding in the early evening. He gave me a couple sharp meows and then started rubbing and weaving around my legs purring loudly. At least today and tomorrow will be quiet here and he can settle down some. Next week the nurse comes Mon & Wed, my DS arrives Tuesday and stays till late Thurs, so it will get crazy for the cat again. After that, things should settle again.
Zills, sorry about your broken sleep. Maybe it is as Ariom suggested partly caused by the acidic state of your stomach. I sure hope you can catch some rest during the day. Hope the little ones are feeling better and yikes, hope Little Miss hands in Poopy Pants out grows that behavior very quickly!!
I'm not sure how I would feel about watching my child on camera either. They never had something like that when my kids were little. Like you said more for your own peace of mind than hers, but if you catch her at a testy moment, you may end up more stressed for watching. She'll adjust just fine.
Ariom, I too would be interested in which brand of bamboo shirt/cami you buy. I did a google search and there are so many out there it is confusing. Also what book would you recommend for The Rites?
Have a great weekend all!

Hi everyone! Boy did I crash out last night. I just woke about 5 minutes before Lisa arrrived to get Colin up!
I feel great! Thought I would pay dearly for the work yesterday, but no, thank goodness, no repurcussions!
Lisa looked at the work I did and said she couldn' have done all that! So, I feel much better about the way my body reacted yesterday, she's over 20 years younger than me! LOL
Wren, the Bamboo tanks that I have were from a company called Venus, I think they were from the States, they were selling on one of our daily deal sites. I bought 6 of them before the company went bust. I also bought a couple from another small Aussie company that doesn't seem to exist any longer. I just did a Google Search for Bamboo Cami/Shapewear and found quite a lot out there. In saying that I have also bought a number of tanks and camis in cotton with a bit of elastane, just from the department stopes or Target that are really nice too. For me, the important thing was the cut of the armholes, I can be driven insane by an armhole that doesn't sit right, and causes the Claw or stirs up the numb bits! I am wearing the Marika seamless mesh sports bra which is like a firm crop top a lot at the moment too. I can put a microbead foob in that and it sits right all day. I wear an activewear jacket zipped up to mid chest and no one knows that is all I have on underneath. I would suggest you try a few shapewear tanks in a department store to see if that firmness suits you and go from there. I also like the soft camis with the bra inside. I have altered out the Target Maternity Camis, just cut off the plastic hooks on the front straps, and stitch the strap to the front edge of the cami. That makes a great, cheap cami to wear under a wrap or a shirt, they sit hight on the chest too. I still love my Amoena camis with the built in pocket. I will get back into those as soon as the weather is warmer.
High gB, I didn't have any compression or bandaging, so really don't have any idea. If it were me though, I think I would keep it on till the next visit. I did have a small section of infection in my scar, and i did have the Seroma too. Not a big deal but there nonetheless, I fad it drained once, didn't feel a thing, but I didn't have any bruising to speak of either.
I know it seems daunting when you see all that is available out there, in tanks and camis. Once you have tried on some that you like, it gets a lot easier.
The books I have are the originals 1 and 2. I bought them both together because the guy who put me onto this insisted I have both. He was right!
"The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth" by Peter Kelder books 1 and 2. Don't waste your money on any others, these are all you need. There are heaps of demonstrations on YouTube, but I used Dr Oz for my technique, and followed the books for everything else. 3 reps is all you should begin with, and I promise I saw a difference, as did Colin, in me, in about 2 or 3 weeks. My chest is really great, it has opened that area and built up the pec muscle really well. The other thing that it has been amazing is the end of postural vertigo. If nothing else, I am thrilled with the lack of the dizzies! I do the spinning exercise when I think of it, during the day. It is supposed to be the most important of the exercises that sets your Chakras spinning in unison. I doubt it matters, if you are a believer or not, it just seems to work!
I am going to do the Rites shower, and take Dex on a big walk this morning. The weather is fantastic, no wind, just sunshine. I will check back later....M x

Just had to tell you, the old girl isn't doing too bad!
I got organised this morning and took Dex for a big walk. We did the 4km circuit, which includes the "Ramps of Death!" Sunset Cove beach and all the way through town along the beach to the yacht club and back. We went out to the end of the pontoon to watch a pod of Dolphins playing , I just couldn't get a pic on my phone. There was a guy on the beach with two big black labs. He threw a big stick in the water and they scared the Dolphins off. I wanted to pick up the stick and give him a whack!
Got home, and tackled the other half of the front garden. Fortunately, not as bad as the other side I did yesterday, but still filled another 5 big garden bags. I looks just fantastic, much better than I expected, and I didn't fall in a heap after doing it either! Yay! Starting to feel a tad drowsy now, but I have just had lunch at nearly 3pm.
The new neighbors who bought the house on the corner, just dropped in for a coffee and to thank me for bringing in their garbage cans. They will be here full time in a month or so, they can't wait. They do a 5 hour drive each way most weekends, just to hang out here for a day or two. They told us they want to get a couple of dogs, like Dex! Ha Ha, they love him. and he loves to sit with them on the couch. Don't you hate spoilt dogs! LOL
I finished my book last night, so looking for another to start......chat later...M x
