Dear Ariom:
So sorry to hear about Colin's mum! I had a phone alert while I was at the shops. It sounds like it was a beautiful and peaceful transition. I sure hope Colin will feel peaceful and relaxed very soon. I sure hope he is not suffering. And how are you? Are you going to have a little nappy with Dex?
Thinking of you guys over there. I hope Dexter is going to give you lots of kisses and cuddles. XXX0 -
Moira, I am so sorry. I agree with what ndgirl said, what a beautiful way for a mother to cross over, with son holding hand and speaking gently to her. Sending prayers for you, Colin and all of the family for peace and comfort. ((Hug))0 -
Good Morning everyone!
Misty and cool today. I remembered to change the clocks before I went to bed last night, so it's a new day, and daylight saving!
Thanks again ladies, Colin is a bit fragile, but fine this morning. We talked it all out last night. and I think he feels better for that.
Nothing planned for today, just a quiet day at home. I will potter about here. I have one pot to fill in the front garden, and one left in the veggie garden to plant out with herbs.
What is everyone else up to today? Big weekend planned for anyone?
I have started the Summer Clothing migration, from the guest bedroom to my walk in wardrobe, so the bed is covered in clothes that need to be moved. The reality is, I should just do a really big cull that would mean I could keep it all in one place all the time. That's a thought!
Wishing you all a lovely relaxing weekend. I am ready for the appointments coming up...just remind me when they are!.......M x0 -
I know I have too many clothes also. It's on the to-do list. Have culled some of the lower necked ones.
Its finally raining here. I'm out of sorts. Could be weather, hormone or poopy children. Need to get a lighter weight vacuum so I can clean.
Bobo's appt in the morning. 11:45? I'll be in the bag and am leaving poopy children behind:). May nap if all those banging pots and pans don't keep me awake.
Take care.0 -
I put most of my summer things away last week; just kept a few out for a hot day or two. Tomorrow is supposed to get up to 70 and then in the 50's for the next 10 days. One bonus - a pair of cords I'd forgotten about. Now I have to decide how many T-shirts to replace. I've gone from XL to M in the past 2 years. I'm going to actually shorten some of the sleeves so they don't have to be rolled up. Yeah, I know that's been on my list for years now, but maybe it will get done.0 -
10:45. So fun to get your text, Z, although it wasn't under fun circumstances.0 -
Oh Zills, I am sorry you are feeling out of sorts, but not surprising with hormones, poo and weather!
Tomorrow, you can snooze on my shoulder in the bag, Zills!
One of my friends just bought one of the lightweight stick rechargeable vacuums, and she loves it. Apparently as light as a feather and lots of suction. It does hardwood, tiles, and carpet. She even does her astro turf with it. Might be worth a look, I think it is a Hoover Brand. She's been trying to get me to buy one.
I have done the low neck clothing cull, but then I cull every season. It only works if you stop replacing stuff...duh! I have a penchant, as you all know, for a bargain and an Opp Shop. I can't win, and poor Colin just scratches his head and wonders where it will all go. Don't be feeling sorry for him though. His thing is power tools, and gadgets, not to mention all the boat stuff. He can't use most of them himself, but he loves to get others to use them while he supervises!
Wren, I hope you are over your cold now. Good on you for dropping a couple of sizes...I wish!
I have so much stuff that just needs to be altered slightly, but I never do it. I am a hopeless sewer. I have all the gear, great machine and over-locker, that belonged to Colin's Mother, but I just don't have the knack for it.
Take care M x0 -
Hey Bobo! Posting at the same time again!
Did Zills text you about Colin's Mother? That was so sweet of her to do that. M x0 -
DH finished working in the bathroom yesterday, ate, and went to his drum workshop. I took the paint can back downstairs and heard drip, drip. I thought, funny, I didn't think it was raining upstairs and went up to see. Nope. Went back downstairs and discovered the ceiling was dripping. Put a pan under it. This morning DH redid the faucet he worked on yesterday and got it to work. So this afternoon I put in the new rug and shower curtain along with the new towels I bought. Looks really spiffy. I tried to take a picture, but I need one of those lenses the relators use to make tiny spaces look huge.
I'm dreading going off daylight time. From Nov to Feb we get up in the dark and go home in the dark. If you don't go out at noon, you don't see daylight let alone sunlight. Don't wonder why we're so deficient in Vit D.0 -
Whew! In the past few days something must have changed here, I can no longer post from my kindle or from my phone. I haven't dropped off the earth just trying to figure out what the cat fur is going on.
HUGS to M. and Colin, know you are both in my thoughts.
Jumping in Bobos bag before something weird happens here0 -
Granwe sounds like you have mischief makers. Our landline would never work when it rained.
Wren. Love that bathroom and new towels.
M I will be happy to drool on your shoulder for Bobo's appt. She's going to be loopy if she took all the meds she was holding. Maybe she'll nap good when she finally gets home.
I'm hoping for a good nap. Baby up at midnight. DH brought her to our bed. She eventually had me pinned over the shoulders. I was afraid she would roll off onto the floor then she started kicking that leg. She had to go back! Then boy up. Wanted to sleep with me. Convinced him to go back to his room. Both awake by 7:30.
My hot flashes seem to go off when I change positions or it's time to get up. Melatonin is helping at night. Also started walking more.
I will be cleaning up Cheerios for what seems like the 100th time this weekend and washing more poopy underwear. Argh! Can't wait for them to go to school tomorrow. DH said he's going to bake an apple pie! His first as long as we've been together.
Have a lazy Sunday!0 -
Popped in to see how our girl is doing.
Moira, so sorry to hear about Colin's mother, but happy to hear how lovely and peacefully she went. How's he doing? There is never any preparation.
We just got back from a mini long weekend in Newport, RI. We attended a wedding yesterday (Joe's cousin) and decided to stay over Fri & last night. We were going to stay through tomorrow, but the weather was crappy so we headed home. It was good to see some people we haven't seen in a few years.
Moira, that bath sounds incredible.. I cannot believe you've never used it after all the thought that went into it!!! lol When do we try out the air fryer?? Waiting for a report.
I love love love scalding hot baths in the winter with a good book. I too shower after, but it's still my favorite way to shave my legs haha.
I don't have a juicer and I am not buying one unless I know it wouldn't end up with the other one use appliances in the basement. We do breakfast shakes in the spring/summer.. oatmeal & fruit in the winter for breakfast.
So far I am going to replace white bread with multigrain and stay away from potatoes and rice and continue with exercising and see how it goes.. I think gradually doing things will work best for me.
I suppose I should get some laundry done... blah.0 -
I just keep popping in here to see if any posts from our Bobo and the MRI! she is so on my mind today! beautiful day here, so I was able to put the bedding out on the clothes line! does anybody do that anymore besides me?? nothing smells as good as bed linens dried outside!
Another blow today, heard my local dr's.(who I love) husband is in Mayo in Rochester with a cancerous mass in his throat! she is with him of course and on a 2 month family leave of absence.. I need to see her before year's end but full understand if she doesnt return that soon.. just will go to another one at our local clinic. Not sure if he is even 50 years old.. cancer sucks big time!! but I think you all know that!! later, hope we hear from Bobo today and that things are ok.0 -
Wren, your bathroom sounds lovely, but the leak must have given you a scare! I'd love one of those lenses too!
Gramwe, have been thinking of you too! Wondering if you were ok. I hate technology....when it goes bad!
Colin is fine, I think the initial shock of the finality is what gets you off guard. He has been a great son to her. He couldn't have done more.
I'll give you a big hug in the bag!
Zills, oh those poopy pants, and the squirming baby in your bed, ahhh I remember it well!
I thought we may have to carry Bobo into the MRI. She could have dosed up enough to knock out a large animal, but there are enough of us to get her in and then out again. I have butterflies for her!
F those flashes Zills, I hope they lessen soon. I think I mentioned before that the only thing that helped mine was taking a capsule of Evening Primrose Oil each day. May be worth asking about.
I can't wait to hear how the Apple Pie turns out!
You can drool on me anytime!
ldesim, thank you!
Glad you had fun seeing old friends on the weekend. I am actually looking forward to catching up with my old friends too, when we go to Melbourne for the Memorial Service, which hasn't been arranged yet.
I'd like to stay somewhere central in the City where friends can drop by, and Bec can stay with us, if she'd like, and then just walk to work. I haven't been back since we moved. All my girlfriends were taking bets about how long I would last in the country without my usual ties to the city. I have dumbfounded them all, because I have had not the slightest desire to go back. It has been 17 months!!
I know it sounds nuts, that I haven't used that bath. I love a scalding hot bath too.
Airfryer hasn't arrived yet, but I am going to try out Dim Sum first, and the Sweet Potato fries. Apparently it does all kinds of stuff really well. It is just getting the timing right.
I know you're going to hate me now! I couldn't live without my juicer! I loooooove my Oscar. It is a slow auger type, not one of the fast centrifugal ones, of which I have had many, but they are a beatch to clean! Oscar does the most fantastic living juices, and there is a book by Norman Walker, the Grand daddy of juicing. I have heaps of books of juice recipes, but NW has recipes for different illnesses. I have lived on juices when I have been sick. My Oscar also has an attachment to make your own noodles and pasta, I have never tried, and an attachment to make ice cream from frozen fruit...sensational!
I have laundry to do too...still doing the wardrobe cull and changeover, in dribs and drabs too.
Big hugs for everyone in the bag! M x0 -
Colin is a good son and the timing was perfect for you to help her board that heaven bound train!0 -
All okay. I'm not as loopy as everyone thinks! But I did take a nap when I got home. Things don't look great. They did an MRI of the nodes, which they've never done before. Tech turned screen away and wouldn't let me see. Then the breasts. I've been told I have to make an appt with AF to get results. Again, that's never happened before. Right now I have no appt with AF. So no telling when I'll get results.
I did take enough meds to stop a giant cow, though! It didn't stop me, however, it did keep me from crying. Because they did nodes, I was face up for a time, and the tube almost touched my nose. They had headphones. Childcare and the juggling of that didn't go smoothly.
Haven't eaten today. Off to watch The Good Wife and try to forget about it! It's my favorite show. That was my 10th MRI. Z, you've got a care package coming in the mail! XXX0 -
Z, F hot flashes! I put ice packs in the MX pockets of my bra.0 -
Idesim, lol re shaving legs in the bathtub, it is a lovely way to do this "activity of daily life," to be sure! I am in NJ and the foggy weather this weekend made me as nervous as a cat. So we went to the dog park and Mindy, the new dog, rolled around in the mud frolicking, and when we got home, my sister put her in the shower with her and Mindy came out looking very happy and clean. That, plus some Middle Sister wine, fixed me right up.
Bobogirl, you came through the MRI quite bravely. That is a very loud test. Just stick me inside a jet engine, it might be quieter! I hope you get the results and AF appointment soon. Waiting is the hardest. Hugs.
Ariom, it seems like only yesterday, doesn't it, that you were swapping out clothes for winter. I have been swapping clothes for my newly shaped figure. There are lovely outfits to be had no matter how ones shape is shaped!! I cannot bear the camisoles or bras which have the fake boobs in them that could even me out. I still have the same 25 lbs to lose this year! And my arse seems to have blossomed, I sweep items off the desks and tables behind me which never happened up till this past year. Likely I am removing dust too. Tunics it is then!0 -
Thank you Wirdgirl! Long time no see!
How are you doing?0 -
I am doing okay on the neurontin, am adding salon pas patches and a massage pillow this month to help with the pain. The new dog is so sweet and fun but hard on me physically. I am enjoying my life, there are great people at the office I work with, so any discomfort is really minor compared with the blessings I have. Like meeting you and the other amazing people in this forum. How is Colin doing today?0 -
bobo, glad you came through the MRI OK. I hope you can get your appt w/AF soon and have your results so you can go forward.
I am still dealing with intestinal issues. I eat, but everything goes right through.... I know TMI!! No energy at all! And my blood sugar has been going up and up, which is worrisome to me.
Then to make things worse, on Friday with my foggy brain, I put my phone in the washing machine with the laundry and it went through all the cycles. Dead, dead, phone!! So Saturday, I had to drive up to town to get a new phone. Stomach was iffy the whole time..... I had to wait 2+ hours to be waited on but once I got a clerk the process went fast. Unfortunately I lost all my contacts and photos. (Right now that phone is living in a bag of rice in pieces. The man said if it started up after drying they might be able to get my contacts from it. But not very hopeful.) Now I have the monumental task of trying to recreate my contact list!! And I have no energy for it! That and learning a new phone.......
I was totally exhausted from standing in that store for all that time and the drive. I hate being sick!!
Today I started culling winter pj's, & putting summer ones away. The nights have been in the 20's so it is time. I had some old cozy favorites I just had to let go, they were swimming on me. I've lost over 10 # since surgery, 2 in the last couple of days... that and the other 50 since diabetes dx all my winter things from last year are hanging on me. Just that task wiped me out and I need to head to the recliner for a while.
Will catch up more later.
Hugs!0 -
Bobo, we are so proud of you! You got through it and have been for a nap. No takeout?
When will you make an appointment..soon? After these are read it isn't but a short time till the Doc has the results.......Stay cozy and let us knowhow you're doing! M x ((((Bobo))))0 -
Wirdgirl, I am so glad you stopped by!
Colin is doing well today, thank you. We have laughed and talked a lot about his Mum over the past few days. It is just that initial shock that blind sides you. He has organized everything he can for now, and really, just has to decide when the Memorial will be. The phone is ringing off the hook as people are hearing about it, so it is nice that Joan is being remembered and that old friends of hers that we'd lost touch with are calling Colin.
I'm so pleased to hear things are going well for you, but sorry to hear you're still experiencing pain. You seem to really have it under control with everything you're doing. I do hope it runs its course and leaves you.
It makes all the difference to have good work colleagues. I had wonderful work mates at United, many who are still close friends. It made me smile when you mentioned the MRI sounding like you were in a jet engine. One of my absolute favorite pictures of me, is me standing inside the engine of a 747. It was taken just before I finished working for them. Even at 5'7'' and standing on tip toes I could just barely touch the top of the engine inside. It was something I had always wanted to do!
I bet the new dog keeps you on your toes. Dex has quietened down a little bit, he's about 5 now, we think, so he should be getting a bit more mature! Not holding my breath!!!
I am still finding interesting clothing, and actually have a piece of furniture named by gramwe "The Foobmoire" as you can guess I have been accumulating Foobs! I do go half flat, some of the time, but have found I can wear any kind of foob these days without any discomfort, so I have come a long way.
Let us know how you're doing..M x0 -
gB, that all sounds just awful. I am so sorry you are feeling so awful. Never TMI here! Are you going to go to the Doctor? Sounds like you may need some meds. Please be sure to stay hydrated, and have a rest, forget the cull, you can do that anytime.
I know just how you feel about losing your contacts. I used to have everything in an electronic diary. I didn't know that with this old technology you only had 10 minutes to change the battery or it would lose everything. The back of the battery compartment came off in my bag, so I didn't know the battery had fallen out..result...the contacts of a lifetime, gone forever. I have hard copy of everything now. I will never trust an electronic doohicky ever again.
Take it easy, and let us know how you are doing.0 -
Hi ndgirl! Every time I think I'm done, I find another post!
Beautiful day here too. We've all been anxious about Bobo today.
I am so sorry to hear of your Doctor's husband. It seems we just hear of more and more people being Dx all the time.
I am doing laundry too, and love the smell of air dried sheets. It hasn't been air drying weather for a while, so my dryer has been getting a workout through the Winter. When we did the renovations on the house we installed lots of solar panels, and for the first time ever, we have no utility bills, in fact we are in credit, and that was through the bleak Winter. Amazing! I don't feel bad about using the dryer or leaving the heat on!
Take care..M x0 -
Bobo, glad you made it thru ok, and oh boy hope you dont have to wait too long for results, but in the mean time.. dont borrow trouble, today's are enough! hopefully things are ok. thinking of you and hoping you get some well needed rest. {{{ hugs}}}
GB, i agree with Ariom, never tmi on these boards, sure hope things turn around soon, I know dealing with diabetes and having the "hershey squirts" as the neighborhood kids used to say is tricky. the phone episode sounds terrible, i know that feeling!0 -
grannyB if your glucose is going up that's a sure sign something is wrong. Get in to see your doc!0 -
ldesim, stand by...big box just delivered..must be the airfryer. May not get time today, I am running around for Colin, but as soon as I can, I will report...M x0 -
I picked up a new foster cat today. She's easily the most pathetic cat I've ever seen. She was picked up as a terribly matted stray, so thin you could see her ribs thru her skin after the matts were shaved. She was at the vet for a week, then sent home with a vet tech for more TLC. Her blood test is now within normal limits, so she was cleared for foster. I saw the first blood test results and I could see why they said she was critical. Every result was either at the far low end or the far high end, almost nothing in the normal range. She was 5.5 lbs (normal is 10-12). She's going to be a beautiful cat when she gains weight and grows fur. Once they get the photo thing straightened out here, I'll post her photo. I'm going to take progress pictures all along. She would be a good candidate for a 'saved by the shelter' story. Her name is Celine and she's a purr factory who can't get enough petting.0 -
Wren, that's so sad. It's terrible to see animals in such a state, but I bet you'll make all the difference to her.
I have a Forum friend over here who does this labor of love volunteering too, and takes in cats and dogs. We all donated to have the surgery done on a poor little Pug who had been maltreated. He is up and about again and doing really well!
I'd love to see your progress pictures. M x0
