ldesim, it was the Airfryer. I have been reading the book and have found all kinds of things that I didn't expect would cook in it. Brownies, Cup Cakes, cookies, not to mention things like Ribs, Seafood, Italian Vegetables, Rosti...yumm! I won't forget the Sweet potato fries!
I am not going to have time to play tonight, but hopefully tomorrow I'll make some stuff and I will let you know. Out of interest there were 68 reviews on the website for this one and it got a 4.9 out of 5, so not bad, considering the other brands are 3x the price of this one.0 -
Ooooh! I am delighted by the new kitty story! I want to kiss that manky little purr factory, Celine!
Can't wait to see her picture. What is she eating? Are you hand-feeding her?
I am sitting here at the computer with my own former manky purr factory on my lap. Miguel! He was critical, all blood work wrong, he had cat herpes! Viral infection, lung infection. Riddled with fleas and mites. Dehydrated. One of his eyes was distended and looking the wrong way. And starving! Now he is the most handsome and strong cat in the universe. And he loves me. Wish I could send you a picture, but I don't know how!
Celine! Write back! Good to see you wirdgirl. Feel better grammaB! I just left my phone in a rainstorm not too long ago.0 -
Wren, what a great rescue story, I too would love to see progress pics. you are an angel, I can never imagine how anyone could hurt an animal.. and maybe no one hurts all of them I understand, but I was have felt that if you dont like animals you usually dont like many people. During our winters we put out food because there is alot of stray cats around and food is in short supply! I feel so sorry for them but dh is a real softy for them too, we have a heated "cat house" all winter! our neighbor also feeds alot of them too.
Ariom, what kind of airfryer do you have? looked on line at some, interesting. Anxious to see how you like it. I buy so many kitchen gadgets that I think I cant live without and are now sitting on a shelf in basement!!0 -
ndgirl! I bought the Rank Arena. I belong to a shopping forum, (surprise surprise!) and they are all buying the Phillips and loving it. I just couldn't justify the almost $400 for that one, but was willing to try the Rank Arena at $99. It has the same capacity and is only 10% less in wattage. The testimonials on the site where I bought it are all very positive. I love fried foods, but rarely eat them now, so I think this could be the answer. I will let you know when I get a chance to play with it. Things are just a bit hectic right now for me to be mucking about with lots of stuff in the kitchen.
I too, have so many things that I thought would be useful, but are now in a cupboard. This is definitely a bench-top appliance. Here's hoping!!!!
Take care M x0 -
Hello Bobo, how you doing today?
I hope you have had, or are having a good rest after a busy day.
It is a rare thing to see a cat here. We used to have lots around in the city, but they are not prevalent here in the country. There are dogs everywhere, but I have never seen one alone like in the city. I think every house has a dog, and it is rare to see anyone walking without a dog. When I go to the monthly markets, I always take Dexter because there are so many other dogs to interact with. We don't have a dog park here, but I always encourage friends who come, to bring their dogs with them.
I hope you were able to get an appointment with AF soon!
Take care M x0 -
Hey M! Appointment with AF on Wednesday morning at 9:20. No other information was given to me at the MRI. First time ever I have not been given a hint, like birads scores... usually I get something like that.
Hating the way all this is playing out. No word at all from AF regarding the psych consult... nearly three weeks now... and probably she just has not given it a second thought.0 -
Hi you wonderful ladies ! Isn't it amazing what love can do to transform a critter? I am maybe going to get a new cellphone, maybe the iPhone 4s or Samsung Galaxy. I have smallish hands and bifocals, so a larger phone would be good if I can hold onto it. Any advice? Thanks!!0 -
Bob, so glad to hear you have an appointment. Not too long to wait, thank goodness, I'd be a wreck:)
I am there, in the bag, and I will be ready to launch at the slightest thing, AF best behave, I say!
You'll have us all, I am sure, she will not know what has hit her if we all come clambering out!
I am assuming AF was spoken to, and the psych consult has been dropped.
Take care.....M x0 -
Hi wirdgirl, don't want to put you off, just wanted to say that you need to give the iphone a try in the shop before you buy it. I can't get them to swipe. I think it is because of my hand after the surgery I had for the Rheumatoid. My fingers are very dry, and I have a lot of trouble swiping the screen. Not so with my android tablet, I don't know the difference, but I am glad I didn't purchase an iphone after trying out a friend's.
Gotta run...be back later M x0 -
i have an iPhone 5, DH has the 5c. I've used them since the 3 came out, and love them. The price on the 5c has dropped to $45.
I'm posting on my phone now, it's all I ever use. Just be sure you get a plan that works for you, regardless of which phone. My techy SIL says the Samsungs are junk, idk, never had one. Play with both at the store.0 -
I have an iphone and like everything but it's weight.0 -
I have a phone from the 1800's. Ariom, many thanks for your kind words. You're right, I am a wreck. Woke up this morning and there was my owl! It makes me smile to think of all of you clambering out of the bag. I must say, get ready to clamber, because AF is never very good at the bedside manner. Oh. I wish I had just moved over to the General Surgeon more quickly. The suspense is killing me. And if I get a green light, I can look forward to more poor communication as the surgery date approaches.
I am worried that her attitude will be, Well, you're doing it to yourself. I think this could be damaging to my psyche. I don't want to feel that way. I want to feel that what I am doing is the right thing. Because it is.
Where is my idesim?0 -
Hi Bobo!
I am sorry that this is dragging on this way. It isn't long till AF has to sit down with you and go over the results. Have you got the list of questions you need to ask her?
Can we forget for the moment. her bad communication skills, and focus on her as a surgeon. You don't have any problem with her expertise do you? She is a very good surgeon, says so herself, so can we accept her for simply what she's good at? Someone mentioned before, you don't need to be BFF with your surgeon!
You don't have any doubts about your decision, so don't allow her intimidate you. The reality is, her opinion is not really relevant. If you have the option, because of past history, and your fear of the future if you do nothing, then she is really just the "mechanic" who will do the surgery. If she's really good at it, that's exactly what we want!
I feel for you having to put up with this crap. I would be so furious if my wishes were being dismissed like this.
I am wondering if the Owl is back to let you know it will be a smooth transition?
Hugs to you Bobo...I am missing ldesim too!0 -
ndgirl, I had a play with the AirFryer tonight and it was really impressive. Bobo, turn your head, I made marinated Kangaroo Filet which can be a really hard meat to get right. I usually BarBQue it, but it came out great after 15 minutes. I made thick cut fries too and they were perfect in 10 minutes made with about a teaspoon of oil. I bought chicken filets, calamari and fish to try over the next few days. I think this will get a lot of use...M x0 -
Oh my god! You are eating a kangaroo? Those are marsupials. They carry their young around in their little pouches! They love their little kangaroo babies! Is the world ending? At our gourmet dog food store they have kangaroo dog food imported from AUS. I said to the store keeper, you have got to be kidding me.
I believe it was I who said you don't have to be BFFs with your surgeon. Don't have a list of questions written out as I am an old pro at this. Sincerely. I am great in a pinch. Then residual fallout after.0 -
Oh no Ariom, sounds like I may have to invest in yet another gadget!! but that sounds great, we love fried food as well, but never do it because of health issues of course, thanks for the update.
Now on to Bobo, I hate that you have to feel that you are on shaky ground with your surgeon, but agree with Ariom that as long as she does a good job that is the most important thing happening. I only saw my bs the day I left the hospital and when I had follow up I saw her assistant, but she had given me her card with all phone #;s etc and could call anytime. I remember asking her that day after surgery if she could have removed the bags under my eyes while she was removing my boob! she just chuckled and said alot of gals ask her that, she was very kind at the first meeting and held both my hands while we talked, my son was with and he had spent a few years living in England and that was where she is from, so they had a nice little chat about her home land, but basically I think they are not the most fuzzy warm people or at least display all of it to everyone. I will be in the bag with you tomorrow Bobo, but I am on my way to Fargo to babysit 3 girls while their mom goes to a convention in Bismarck, ages 2,4,6, whew! at least one is in school! but beautiful weather now so we will be fine. so if you hear a little more commotion that usual you will know the 2 and 4 year old are there with me! and maybe bring some chocolate chip cookies! best of luck.0 -
bobo
Calm down a bit! The reason there is kangaroo dog food here is for pooches with allergies. The idea is to feed them something they most likely haven't eaten, then see how they react to it. It's a good idea, seeing as there aren't that many 'Roos hopping around this country.0 -
I know! Bobo himself has allergies. We eat the allergy free limited ingredient food. But not the kangaroo one!0 -
Bobo. Of course you want this. Don't let her get to you. You don't want this hanging over your head or get to the point where you say F! this and quit getting checked out. Remember the princess and wild boy but you have to do it for yourself. I'm sorry you have to be so proactive for yourself.
DLLP will do most of the interacting with AF during and after surgery. I'm thinking after this consult you'll see her once before and once after the surgery. I don't remember seeing mine at all while I was in the hospital. I got the residents or interns. Not sure of the difference but they are much more approachable. You will be too busy getting everything organized between now and then to worry too much.
You need to concentrate on your diet. Nothing much is appealing to me either right now. Had hoped I'd feel great and my appetite would return. Not sure how long that might take. Could be the tamoxifen or lack of sleep. Baby and DH have bad colds. Hope I don't get it but I'm the one up in the middle of the night.
Boy starts fall break tomorrow until Tuesday. Hoping to do some fun things that we didn't get to do this summer. Will probably still skip ChuckECheese (pizza joint for kids).
M. I do have permission to try evening primrose. Actually the hot flashes seem to be less. Cross your fingers! Air fryer sounds wonderful. Not sure about the roo.
I have the iPhone also. Don't like the new operating system but you won't know the difference. It was my gift to me right before surgery so I could play games and distract myself.
Hope GrammaB got herself checked out and is feeling better.
Ndgirl. How much fun. Can you at least bribe the 4 yr old to nap or be quiet so you can too? I love chocolate chip cookies. I am assuming they are homemade.
Bobo. You may have even more in the bag if the cookies are homemade. Can you imagine the smell? Got room for an easy bake oven?
Idesim. Start drinking for tomorrow's appt. Yours not Bobo's. I don't drink as much when it gets cooler. Did you not keep your port?
Ready for a new Granwe story.0 -
Zills, all good advice. I read it twice. How is everybody over there? Do you have the cold yet? I hope you'll have a chance to rest during the Fall break (in addition to making some great trips). What do you feel like eating these days?
Idesim, I searched back to see the nature of your appt. What is it? Is it Herceptin? What's going on with the port? I feel lost, and I have no reason for this. I have not started drinking. Do I need to be in the bag? I would love to simultaneously be in the bag for you, be figuratively in the bag, and be at my own appt.
Hoping my owl means good things and not scary transition. I love my owl.0 -
Bobo, feel sorry for Roos all you want, but I remember M saying they can eviscerate you with one kick. Cuts down on the cute real quick. Can't wait to hear about the appointment.0 -
Oh gosh, I knew the Roo would cause a stir with Bobo, should have kept that part to myself! Will be trying sweet potato fries today!
Thanks Wren, you're right about the "cuteless" factor! and Spookiesmom, you're right about the low allergy aspect. I knew Bobo wouldn't take it well!
Bobo, just think for a second, has the Owl let you down so far? Try to hold that thought. we're nearly there.
Zills and ndgirl are right, you don't have to see much of AF after the surgery.
Ndgirl, what fun you'll have with the children! Enjoy!
Zills I have everything crossed that you don't catch the cold. I hope they shake it off fast. Olive Leaf extract is the absolute best for any viral or bacterial infections and is a great respiratory herb. Not the liquid, it will give you heartburn, always the capsules. Olive leaf was the only supplement my anesthetist let me keep taking in the lead up to surgery, he takes it too. I take it every day.
Sleep tight everyone....hoping gramwe, ldesim and gB are all ok...M x0 -
Z: hot broth with fresh (not cooked) and roasted garlic, whizzed in the blender! You could start with chicken broth, or veg broth. XXX0 -
Oh yes, the owl is very good luck, Bobogirl!0 -
Ariommoira, thanks for the tip about olive leaf oil capsules. I don't want a flu shot, nor the flu, this year!0 -

That's poor Celine (who tries to bite me when I stop petting to type).0 -
Oh Wren, that poor kitty. It breaks your heart doesn't it!
She will do well now she's with you, how lucky for her to have found you.
All the very best, and I would love to see the progress pictures.0 -
Hi All!
Feeling so much better! Just had to hunker down and do nothing and let my self get through whatever bug I had. Stomach is much better and my bg numbers are all back to normal. Phew, that was no fun!
I'll be in the bag tomorrow bobo. I hope you get everything in order and can get on to the surgery without any more stresses. I saw my surgeon once before surgery; the morning of; she popped into my room with her kid to say "hi" the next morning; then once at 1 week 2 weeks; and 4 weeks. She did come into recovery, but I don't remember anything about recovery..... But if you are going to a teaching hospital, you may not see AF all that much. I just want you to be able to get all this behind you and get on with the rest of your life!
bobo, I think your owl returning is a very good sign!!
Ariom, I have the Sharper Image Super Wave Oven it may be similar to what you have? It combines halogen heat, convection and infrared heat. Paid $70 at Costco. It makes the most luscious meats, fish, chicken!! Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Love the crispy chicken skin and the rich fat in rib eye steaks!! I haven't tried any veggies in it, I usually just steam or stir fry them. But it sure makes yummy proteins! I use it at least twice a week, sometimes more. It lives on my counter, one of my best kitchen purchases!!
Wren, great rescue story! I so admire you for what you do!! I am looking forward to seeing photos! I can't imagine wanting to hurt an animal. Those commercials on TV showing the abused animals break my heart!! I can't even watch them!
Zills, I hope everyone get well quickly and you don't catch it!!
I would have loved to get an iPhone, but I just couldn't justify the data charges. I have an iPad and just didn't need another online device. I hardly ever make phone calls, actually text more. I got the LG Xpression and it is fine for me. I like its slide out keyboard. I actually hated my old phone, but could never justify just getting a new one. Fortunately I was due an upgrade so I got out of the store for $30 for phone and memory card for photos. The learning curve is going to take a while... but at least I'm starting out doing it right this time!!
Night all, morning Ariom, see you all in the bag tomorrow!!0 -
gB, so pleased to see you back and feeling much better. The body just gives so many warnings before it brings you down with a bang!
I am not sure if the machines are the same, could be, mine is heated air that cooks without fat, whatever it is, it is great!
Today we had Dim Sum for lunch, and some Angus Beef pies for Colin. I am going to do filet mignon for Colin tonight to see how bacon holds up.
Very hot here today, a sign of what is to come. It has made me sleepy, so I think I feel a nanna nap coming on!
Catch you all later..M x0
