Hi gB, well wasn't that a pain in the proverbial! How can those people call themselves fitters when they get it so wrong? Do the forms feel right, size wise, for the bras? If you go onto the websites of the prosthesis suppliers, they have charts that tell you which size form for your bra size. That's how I buy my forms from the US, and get the right size.

I bought myself a Tshirt. It is blue, not Pink, and says F%$K (insert pink ribbon) Cancer! I took a picture of me in it without my face showing and sent it to Bec and my girlfriends with the caption "Guess Who?" They all loved it! I doubt it will ever see the light of day in my little town, but Colin likes it! LOL I'll wear it in the garden, or as a night shirt.

How good was that gB, getting your contacts back must have been fantastic.Isn't technology great when it works!

I know you don't want to hear this, gB, but it has only been a couple of months since you had a pretty brutal surgery. It isn't surprising that you still get tired. It took me many months to really feel half way normal, even though I really felt good, it didn't take much to make me "Hit the Wall". I was told it takes a month for every hour you're under anesthetic, just to get that out of your system. I don't think there are any here, who didn't overdo it, we all think we are able to do anything, but it will be some time yet, before you're running on all cylinders!

I am wondering how we'll keep Bobo down!

Bought the Vitamix! will be here next week. I have been checking out soup recipes, can't wait to try it.

Tonight it is salt and pepper squid, and coconut prawns with salad from my garden with Vietnamese mint and Coriander and Aioli..yum Yep, done in the Air Fryer!

How will I 'slow down' exactly? Must keep up with the children! DLLP up at FIVE today to prep for her bosses' big meeting -- he is making her go to coffee shop at the crack to buy the ingredient for a 'breakfast bar' and install it at work! M, your dinner sounds great -- I can't wait for you to get the Vitamix!

Sort of bad news -- I woke up spotting this morning. I have been told that every time I spot I get a... that's right, you guessed it... endometrial biopsy. Last one was normal. I am thinking about not telling them.

Z, you have tattoos today? We've got to fatten you up! Can't stand PB smell either. Plus you cannot have it in house because of your boy!

Laughing at recorder stories. Guess how many recorders I have in my house? Four.

    Good morning from Downunder!

How did I know that you'd ask me that Bobo?Happy I knew, slowing down, would never come easy to you, but guess what? You're going to need to plan for at least a little bit of slowing down. Help from others, I know, I know, you don't want to ask for help, but this time, you just have to do it. Sitters for the kids, if necessary for them to go somewhere that you won't be able to drive to. The kids, they can do chores to help you out. The main thing with this surgery is the abject tiredness, and the soreness that can build to a crescendo if you overdo it. All hail "The Claw!" You remember my description of "Oh, I feel a nap coming on...thud!" I wasn't kidding, and I know it isn't age specific!Happy

All of us have overdone it and only want to spare you the results of that. Just keep in mind, the more you rest and recuperate, the quicker you will be back to your doing "everything" mode!

Oh Hon, I am so sorry you have the added worry of the spotting today. Can't begin to advise on that one. You know best!

Going to the Opp Shop this morning , I can't believe how fast Thursday mornings come around. I especially go to see a lovely lady who has Ovarian C. She was so lovely to me when I first moved here. I was going through the testing process and didn't know what I'd be facing. She mentioned her chemo to me one morning and I blurted out that I was waiting to hear back from a biopsy. She enveloped me in kindness, that I have never forgotten. I visit her every Thursday morning, just to see how she is getting on. I hold my breath as I go in, 'cause I am always afraid she'll have had a bad week and be unable to go in. That doesn't happen often, but when it does, I worry for her.

Bobo, I can't wait to get the Vitamix. I have been watching videos, and reading recipes. It comes with the Dry Jug, have you made your own flour with that? I am doubting I'll go that far, but who knows. I have a bread maker that I have never used!

Well, off to get started.. take care..M x

Great update from GrammaB! Glad you saved your contacts... annoyed on your behalf regarding the fitting.. all this time you could have had what you needed! I bet your store is starting to pick up.. you better get as much rest as you can the Xmas rush will be upon you before you know it.

Something tells me, Bobogirl will be the worst of us. I can't imagine even surgery will slow her down. How are you feeling?

Question, will the air fryer now be shelved once the vitamix arrives?

What a sh1tshow in Boston today.. not only the world series mayhem, but Obama visiting right around the corner from my office.. couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

Is Zills on her way to her sister's? I hope she can stop in and let us know she arrived safely.

Have a double header of Sons of Anarchy to watch tonight as we missed it last week. Meatloaf, beans & mashed taters (sweet potato mash for me) on the coffee table. and Uh oh.. Joe bought mini dark chocolates which I probably won't be able to resist :(

Yes I made it fine. Traffic was light and no drizzle across the bridges. Kids slept. I took a nap when I got here. Have a headache. Was tense on the drive but BMX is fine.

Are expecting bad weather tomorrow. Trick or treat has been postponed at home to Friday. Still waiting to see if it will be postponed here.

Tattoos and radiation start on Tuesday.

Trying to get the baby to sleep in a strange place. Haven't been here for a year!

Hi ldesim, I'm with you, Bobo will never slow down!Happy

No, the Air fryer will not be shelved, it will be used in "conjunction" with the new Vitamix.Happy

I can't believe I am actually interested in cooking again. I am already planning the soups I can make, and the sauces to go with the things made in the Air Fryer. I just watched another show on our shopping network for the Air fryer, to get more ideas. Some of the seafood, which is my favorite was just amazing, and any kind of meat, which was roasted came out perfect too.

I have always been into juicing and smoothies, so I'll likely use this new one every day just for those things alone.

Your dark chocolate reminds me, I managed to get Colin his chilli chocolate yesterday at Aldi. He is a chilli freak. Barry, our delivery man brought Colin a frozen meat pie bought from a shop in another state and said to be the hottest chilli pie available. I did it in the Air Fryer last night. Colin has never succumbed to any chilli before, but this one got him! It is called " Trinidad Scorpion" he got 3/4 through it and could go no further. He was disappointed that it was really hot, but wasn't a pleasant flavor. I can't ever get past the heat to any flavor really.

Small world. Yes had to go thru Cincinnati. She lives outside of Dayton. Give spookie a birthday kiss!

Menu tonight. Mummy dogs, lake of beans, orange/black tortilla chips, pumpkin or cranberry/sweet potato salsa and lemonade with eyeballs (frozen grapes).

    Happy Halloween !

Hiya Zills, Now that's an early start for you, I hope you can get a nap in.

I want to eat with you guys! Lemonade with eye ballsShockedI want some of that!

We didn't get a single kid here, trick or treating, so Colin gets the candy! I even went out to the street to see if there were any kids around, but not one to be seen.

Happy Halloween Zills, hugs to the kids from me, I hope they aren't disappointed about not getting out to do it!

I wonder how Bobo is doing? Did the Mouse get finished?

Been thinking about gramwe and the OG. I hope all is well there.

Off to bed now...Happy Halloween to everyone...M x

Mouse costume is finished. On my way to halloween parade. Menu tonight: homemade chile sin carne con mole from Veganomicon. My two can't eat candy everyone gives out so I've always got to do a 'store' of treats -- they come to my store, and trade their candy for store items. I make stuff or get allergy-free (read: expensive) items. In store: baked crumpets, baked organic cinnamon rolls with icing, sour gummies, 'panda' molasses candies, and then the cherry version, and organic 'tropical punch,' and sliced persimmon... hmm. I can't remember what else. More things.

I do think you should make your own flour, M, it is so fun. Z, I will be with you in the bag on Tuesday. So glad you made it safely. We were worried about you and that long drive. Your menu sounds 'spooktacular'! The babies look so cute in their costumes.

Idesim, I always love to know what you have on your coffee table. I have never seen Sons of Anarchy. No, can't imagine slowing down much. My DLLP is not much of a multi-tasker. I ask her to do things for me now, and then she doesn't do them, and then she forgets her cell phone so I can't call her at work, etc. etc. Worried about everything regarding my 'CEO duties' at home. She is so sloppy and remiss. She was sitting on her a$s eating taco chips and reading the paper yesterday while I was running around like a maniac making Halloween preparations and making child and adult dinners. And then she got up to finish wm's costume this morning (her job) so left everything else undone, house a mess, baby had not had her medicine, forgot her cell phone, and I had to drive her to work, which put me behind.

Meantime, second day of bleeding, so I did call the PCP, and she's launched into URGENT mode, and then the GYN office who said the GYN would call me between patients to tell me what I will do next. Looks like a procedure of some kind. I think we all know what I mean here. Last time I had one of those I couldn't choke down food for months with the trauma of it. I'm just flattened. And then it will probably be benign, but you know. It's the journey I'm worried about more than the destination here.

DLLP is dressing up, and will stuff herself like a pig with treats, and then will complain about riding her bike to work tomorrow. I'm not dressing up, obviously. Too tired to put anything together. Hope I can be cheerful enough for the children. I miss granwe.

I have been totally wiped out since the trip to the fitter. Fall allergies leave me with a sore throat, stuffy nose and stuffed sinuses haven't helped either. I really don't like taking anything for them, usually just grin (sniff) and bear them, but this year I don't have the energy to push through them. Guess I'll grab some Claritin next time I go to the store. On top of that, my arthritis in my left thumb has been flaring up so will be going to town yet again tomorrow for a cortisone shot.....

Zills, glad you made the trip OK and that you are having a good visit. Love the menu for tonight!!

ldesim, that woman was such a ditz. She started telling me that she was trying to get someone else to open a shop and she would work there. No way would I ever go back to her! I've already scoped out a couple places in Spokane. I'll just make a little holiday out of the trip. Yep, the store is picking up! Problem my energy isn't matching!! Really need to push through it and get busy.

Spookiesmom, I can't justify the expense for data for an iPhone when I only use 100 or less minutes a month. I have an iPad and a MacBook Pro so don't really need another data device. I have it covered now with a memory chip for the photos and putting the contacts on the sim backed up w/AT&T's address book. I learned a lot from that washing machine incident!

bobo, so sorry you have this new problem on your plate just when you had everything else sorted out. Sending you healing energy and lots of love. What a super idea for swapping out the candy the kids get trick or treating!!

Ariom, sounds like you will really be using the Vitamix a lot. I'd like one, but I think it would end up on a shelf and hardly used as is my KitchenAide mixer. My Sharper Image Super Wave oven has been the best gadget I've bought. I use it a lot and am well pleased with the results.

Also thinking about gramwe and OG. Don't recall when she said he was having surgery or if it was even finally decided. Hope all is well with them.

Can't decide which I really want to do, take a nap or work on my store..... better work...

    Hugs!

Oh dear Bobo. I am so terribly sorry about this new issue, just what you don't need!

You are so amazing how you have everything so organized. I love the sound of your treats, but they sound expensive too!

Making my own flour, I don't know, but I guess I will try it.......once! LOL

Sorry for the lecture...in advance! But DLLP needs a reality check for the surgery and beyond...can't be tardy! Pleeeeeeze have a stern chat, to give her the heads up that this surgery will have to be different. I know you won't want to, but this one is different!

I have to tell you, Colin is just fantastic, not that he can do much, physically, but I had to lay down some rules for this surgery too. He had just taken delivery of a brand new electric wheelchair a couple of weeks before my surgery. I watched him the day he got it, and had to lay down the law that he couldn't use it till well after my surgery because I needed him to get me to the Hospital and back, as well as all the driving till I could get behind the wheel. I know that sounds silly, but you don't know Colin. He has only two two speeds, in that new chair, off and fast, nothing in between! I could just see him taking off and doing a face plant down the hill! I had to make him promise he would not take the boat out, and just generally take it easy, till I was back on track. He took it very well, even agreed with me and apologized for not thinking ahead.

Sometimes it just has to be said out loud! So they "Get It!" M x

Happy Halloween to all! just waiting for the few kids I will get. Had a busy day of office and tomorrow off to celebrate oldest granddaughter's 7th b.day! I will be pooped out again, I know what you mean GrammaB.. somewhere I read that it takes at least a month of recovery for each hour we were under in surgery! Not sure how long I was out, but I should be getting there!

Zills, so glad you are there safely, your dinner sounds great/ hope you get some rest. with you next week all the way!

Bobo, have to agree with Ariom... have a stern chat with DLLP, you will need the help and support. I know my youngest son laid the law down to my hubby before my surgery... it was better coming from him I think.. I have always been the caretaker of him and am VERY independent and capable so he has never really had to pitch in and be the caretaker,, but he stepped up to the plate and did as good as he could! Sorry about this new issue, but glad you are checking it out, it will probably turn out to be nothing again, I wont even bother to say dont stress about it.. cause I know we all do the same. Love your idea about switching out candy.. when we owned the grocery store I used to give out apples because my son had type 1 diabetes, hard night for a diabetic child but he did fine. He was almost old enough to be done trick or treating but still this is filled with candy. I just dont know how you can do everything.. whew! but you energize me to do more! As I have said many times before you and Zills amaze me.. dealing with young kids and bc just should not be allowed anywhere, anytime! But you two do a wonderful job.

Bobo, yes, you must have "the talk" with her. I told my son in law how I felt before treatment and the whole horrible year started. He ripped my DH a new arse. He did ok, we all survived it, maybe that's why we're called survivors?

Ha, so we've all had the "Talk"! I love the "ripping a new ass!" woohoo, that would have been fun to listen to!

I am willing to bet we are all the independent caretaker types, I know you are Bobo, so doing the asking, or in this case the telling, doesn't really come easy, but it really has to be done. Skype me, and I'll do it!!!! LOL Just kidding!

ndgirl, I am with you when you talk of the two of these dynamos. I agree it is just so wrong that the child rearing and the Bc go together.......ever! Why is it that this shit happens to such great people?

Just been to my Pink Ladies Meeting, it went well!

We have free tickets to go to the movies in town and coffee and cake at a cafe afterwards. This region is very pro active in fund raising for the BC cause, I can't believe how many things I have been included in since my Dx. Next month is the Christmas breakup meeting, and then nothing till February.

I also got a call from my Massage therapist this morning to ask me to go to the opening of the town's art show tonight. I thought it would be nice, so she is coming here for dinner first.

    Lots to do...chat later...M x

Trying to decide if we go home today or tomorrow. I'm not sleeping well and neither is the baby. Don't want to be in the hole for rads and it's time change this weekend. But will have to leave in the next little bit so I avoid big city traffic.

Bobo. I tried to arrange everything before and my DH felt like chopped liver. He really stepped up to the plate with childcare. I did have meals covered. You may be pleasantly surprised but you still have to have the talk.

I guess I was the lucky one. DH does lots around the house (cooking especially) anyway and he was a prince.

Need to watch it. Saw a kitty in ISO that I'm tempted to foster. Big tabby boy who isn't very sick. There because his owner died. I'm avoiding the two that really need foster. Both have eye problems. One is blind in one eye and has impaired vision in the other. He's just learning about the litterbox. The eye vet has offered to do surgery for just the materials when he's well enough. The other has a super infection in both eyes. He's going to the eye vet today.

Solved the leftover Halloween candy problem this year. Bought Reeses Pieces which I don't like. Will give the extras to GS2 to take back to his frat house.

Birdie! My kitty Miguel had super infection in both eyes! He was a stray feral kitten -- he walked right up to the steps of my back patio and lay down, arms stiff and outstretched, mouth open. His little face was almost unrecognizable as a kitty face -- it was covered in a hard crusty mask of pus from his eye and nose. One of his eyes distended and looking the wrong way. The princess and I took him to the vet -- I was crying -- and they said we saved him with one hour to spare! I nursed him in my office -- he couldn't play with the other kitties -- and was going to find a home for him (as I'd done with a kitty just before him) but then the vet said he would not survive a home switch.

Everyone is calling me right now. I never have a minute. I don't know WHAT you guys are talking about regarding 'the talk.' I've been having it every day for weeks now. But it is not working. I feel like I have got the script for 'the talk' down -- 'You know, after sx I will not be able to lift arms overhead, or vacuum, and I need to feel like I can count on you, etc. etc.' Still feel like I'm going to have to work double time to get food ready, etc. Don't know how I'm going to get it all done! Having nightmares in which I am not ready for work.

Z, let us know when you are home safely? So sorry you cannot sleep. I too dread the time change.

I'm home. Traffic backed up in Cincinnati. She slept in Ohio and he slept in Kentucky. Waiting on DH to get home and see them. Then she's off to bed and I'm climbing into my pillow palace. Hope I can make it thru Master Chef Jr.

Trick or treat is tonight at home. Bad storms last night. Glad we live in the country. I can't do it. My other sister would love to have them trick or treat at her house tonight but I have no stamina.

Hi all...had a very late night and had a late start this morning!

Art show was wonderful, some beautiful pieces. I didn't buy anything. I ran into quite a few people that I have met since moving here, but realized that they are nearly all connected by BC. I had no idea how many of us there are in this small town. Considering we are pretty well all from somewhere else, it has nothing to do with the location, other than we have all chosen to be here.

Zills, I am so pleased you made it home ok. That was quite a distance that you traveled. Did you make it through your TV show, or did you fall asleep exhausted? I kinda hope you dropped off and had a great sleep in your smooshy pillow bed.

Gramwe, glad to know you're around, but the F technology is infuriating. I hope you can get back soon and let us know how you are both doing. We're all thinking of you!

Bobo, how are you doing today? I worry about all that's going on in your life right now. So much stress, at a time when you should be preparing to make this surgery as smooth as can possibly be.

Spookiesmom is right about just not doing the stuff that you can't do. I would hope that DLLP realizes that this is going to be a little different to what you've had done before. Not to minimize any of your previous surgeries, but any way you look at it, this is going to require more basic help if you are going to manage the timeline you've set for yourself to return to work etc.

I was so lucky, I had lots of help, but I still managed to overdo it. Also, I had no pressure to be at work by a set date, which is why I am so concerned for you.

I hope it all comes together for you Bobo! M x

Yikes! Strong winds blowing branches off our enormous poplar trees. And the shower has a window facing the trees. I see enormous maple leaves blowing and have no idea where that tree could possibly be.

DH's birthday today and I offered to cook (it's his turn). Poor man. I'm not a good cook. This year we each bought something we wanted/needed and gave it to the other to wrap.

Wren, I have woken to a super strong wind day too! White caps on the water and the very last of stray leaves blowing into my yard.....again!

Today is our yearly foreshore market, I doubt that will go well. can see colored umbrellas being blown about. Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day, which is the race that stops a nation! Last year it stopped me getting my Biopsy results for another whole week, so I am not very enamored with this holiday any more.

Colin and I are pretty much the same for presents. The days of surprise gifts are pretty well gone, we ask each other what we'd like, and then buy it.

It's very quiet around here, gramwe must still be having tech issues. I hope she and the OG are OK.

ldesim, what are you up to? I hope Zills and Bobo are sleeping. gB, have you improved, or still a bit under the weather? ndgirl, what are you up to this weekend?

Hope to see you all later! M x

gramwe, glad to hear from you and so sorry the f'n tech lost your post. Maybe better stick with the short posts? Smile

bobo, I agree with the rest, especially Spookiesmom, sit DLLP down and try to impress on her how much you will need help from her. If that fails to sink in, when you get home, only do what you can comfortable do. Don't push yourself. As Ariom said, not to diminish what you have been through already, the BMX is a significantly longer sx. I was under 4.5+ hours and it is still taking its toll on me almost 3 months later. If you are having expanders inserted, you could well be under longer. You will have to slow down at least for a while and she needs to be able to step up and fill in for you as needed.

Zills, glad you got home safely, I can only imagine how tired you must be!!

Wren, I think that wind and rain is making its way here. Dark, gloomy, windy and raining here now.

Posting so as not to lose it....

Trying to take it easy today as the trip up to town yesterday once again wiped me out!! Went to the Orthopedic Surgeon for another shot of cortisone in my left thumb. Last one was in Feb of '12 so it lasted a long time. My thumb was starting to hurt pretty regularly so decided to go in before it was screaming pain. Came out with 2 new braces for my hands, in black this time and a size smaller from all the weight I have lost (that did surprise me). Both thumbs are equally bad, but only the left one hurts...so far.

The dr suggested that since I am totally paid for by ins that maybe we should revisit having the surgery to fix the joint. I ask what it entailed as he didn't get past it would be a long 3+ month recovery w/PT the last time I was in. By the time he described it this time, I said I would pass and keep getting the shots as long as they worked.

Scary surgery!! Cut open side of thumb, up wrist, take out bone, remove tendon from wrist, ball it up and put in thumb (don't quite get the visual) and on and on, I sort of tuned out after that. In cast a long time, months.... No thank you sir!! The dang shot hurt bad enough!! My heart goes out to OG and gramwe, his surgery is going to be even worse!

Cat is curled up on his pillow by the fire, I'm heading for the recliner for a cat-nap!

    Hugs!
