FarmerLucy - I'm so sorry.  We love them all, but every once and a while we're lucky enough to get a soulmate. It sounds like Daisy was that for you.

It is always so hard to lose a beloved pet. (Ours our cats)  You vow to yourself to never get another one, but just 1-2 months later, you find yourself going to the animal shelter looking...

6 days after my last boob surgery and IORT, Cooper Duper and I got our noseWork title 2 ribbon. Dogs are great for the mental health. Yes I'm still bleeding from my incision sites ;)

Hi Everyone - During my last infusion a therapy dog came in. She was so sweet. I had a cookie tray for my chemo party and there were crumbs all over the floor. And so, instead of doing her therapy stuff she was busy eating cookies off the floor. Her trainer wasn't happy but it was comforting to have her come for a visit. Dogs are the best. Life would be good if I could take my dogs everywhere.  I made a video of it.  Here's the link:

FarmerLucy I am just catching up here after a couple of weeks of crazy deadlines at work. I am SOOOO sorry for your loss. Daisy ws a special girl for sure. And had a beautiful life with you, clearly. It is really all we can hope for them- to make them as happy as they make us. Success on your part.

Fairydogmother SUPER cool! Thta is wonderful. My friend Lucy does scent training with her standard poodle. Really interesting work and keeps thier doggie brains so busy. Kudos to both of you. and you got right back out there, surgery and all. I am in awe.

Speaking of surgeries, Bobogirl are you feeling any better? you have been through the ringer, for sure. I have been thinking about you and hoping you have some healing luck finally.

I am healed but thinkng I dont want any more surgeries, I am happy the way I am. good enough. and back to the busy schedule, so no time for cosmetic fixes at this point. Just glad to be alive! (aren't we all).

Warrior woman i LOVE your video- how fun. You did the penguin patrties" while cold capping like we did. yay! I love your fiiends with their "mad capper" shirts. and your infusion team had a great sense of humor. Good for you. It doesnt all have to be sad. They are indeed saving lives- (and sometimes hair). THANK you for sharing!!!

It is  a beautiful California day here and I am going to go swing in our hammock and hug my puppy Brian who got neutered last week (poor pup).

I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend.

    Hugs

Ooh!  Brief Brian update!  Sciencegal, thank you for asking after me.  I am having a hard time bouncing back.  I am extremely tired and dealing with area issues.  Just trying not to be a big picture person at the moment.

Going to look at video now with the hope that it will cheer me up!  XXX

Hi Ladies, I have been away from this site for so long- work got crazy with deadlines and then I had a wonderful trip to the Florida Keys for my brother's wedding. Back home now.

How is everyone? Bobogirl are you feeling any better?

How are the pups? Mine are great, my Roomie Ger was here to live with them while we were away. I sure missed them though.

    Hugs

Science - I envy you a trip to the Keys - visiting the Conch Republic is always an experience!

My pooch Mikey the min pin is fine and very glad that winter is over!  He hated the cold and snow.

I'd love to go to the keys. It sure looks beautiful. We're adopting another middle aged beautiful beagle girl. After Daisy passed we had an opening so decided to get right back in the saddle. We have four now from OKBR.org. Crazy? Yes. But as I tell DH, it's what we do. Ironically this one was named Daisy. We renamed her Casey. She doesn't know she is a beagle. She hangs close to me and comes when called!

Four beagles- awesome!! I am so glad for them that you and DH have so much room for them in your hearts and your home. Lucky dogs!

With three I am getting to be "the crazy poodle lady"!

Lucy - Congrats on the new arrival!  You made me laugh when you talked about having an "opening" - that's how we felt for years.  Our normal complement was always 4 cats and 2 dogs, with maybe a couple of birds - all rescues.  I worked at our local animal shelter for 15 years, so adopting was an occupational hazard. Happy  Somehow we've gotten down to just the one dog now, but since he's an energetic Min Pin, it often feels like we still have a houseful!

NatsFan - The younger ones CAN have more energy than a whole pack of senior citizens. I've only met a min-pin once, but I love him!

Congratulations Lucy!  Your new girl sounds so sweet.

Sciencegal, thank you for asking after me.  Just got cleared to exercise this week.  Hoping that if I can get back to the gym, I'll start to feel better.  XXX

bobo - thanks. I know you've had a tough go of things. Hoping things get better very soon.

FDM - good idea re: nose work. She thinks she's a hunter. Not!

I'm at OK Humane Place right now picking up three feral cats for our barn. They pull them from death row at OKC pound, then spay or neuter and vaccinate. I have to confine them to the tack room for a few days , then hopefully they'll hang around and be the farm's Rodent Managers.

Hope you're doing ok too FDM.

FarmLucy- All dogs are a hunter :)  I am recovering from my full spay before I start the final 5 years of Femura.  I'm teaching 1 puppy class and 1 doggie manners class right now, but until 4 weeks when I get full release.  I can go back to teaching my beloved nose work and taking on more private clients when I can drive.  I'm so ready to start my life back to normal or whatever normal that might be.

We got another cat added to our barn cats. It came from the city, so right now its in the garage for a couple of weeks before we make it a barn cat.  We got two cats from an owner who passed away due to cancer and they rule the garage/house area and our trusty farm cat "milkshake" who we got from Braums is now living with our chickens and ducks.  We need to give them their frontline, ticks are getting bad again.
