sciencegal - Thanks for starting this AND happy Saturday to you too! Clairabelle is being a very naughty donkey. When we take our walks around the pasture with the halter and lead she decides I'm her teenage donkey buddy and I want to play. She lays her ears back and charges me and tries to nip me. She gets popped on the nose and scolded. I'm trying not to show my fear but she does intimidate me when all 400 hundred pounds of her charges me with her teeth bared! EEK!~ BAAAD donkey!

Oh my gosh that would scare the heck out of me!!! I had a pony that did sneaky nipping before (when someone was bending over usually) and i think it was playful rather than being mean as well. But charging- eek!!! I hope she can be taught that you are the boss! Good luck!

Hi Everyone - I just want to share something as it would be irresponsible of me not too. Shortly after my exchange surgery I developed an infection and they haven't been able to clear it so I have to start reconstruction all over again. The bacteria is e coli based and after racking my brain over and over to figure out what went wrong, my husband told me that one night I was on the couch and one of the dogs was nestled under my arm when I was wearing a sleeveless top. It's the only thing we can think of. This of course doesn't mean giving up dogs, cats or donkeys. I just know that for the next four stinkin' surgeries that they're not going to be sleeping on me.

I think this is the guilty culprit. I adopted him when I was recovering from a long term illness 10 years ago and today he is comforting me again...but not crawling on top of me!

Oh no WW - That is terrible! Four more surgeries! You poor thing. Crossing my fingers that all the issues are behind you now and you have smooth sailing from now on.

Thanks Lucy - On the brighter side I really like my left boob.

What a cute guilty culprit!

I am back, Glad to see you still have a lot of beautiful dogs
here. I have a question about what I should do a the store.
there is a lot of unservice dogs that come after my dog or
want their dog to meet mine. They want to bark or play. It is
hard in my wheelchair to get them away, so we have to leave
the store. They never ask if its a service dog or what it does
and doesn't wear collar or vest like Faith my dog does. Please
help me cause its hard to have to leave and come back. Thanks, Footprintsangel

Hi Footprintsangel, where are the owners when this is happening? it is irresponsible.
Many service dogs have a sign on their vest, "don't pet me, I'm working"- does your wonderful dog have that? Owners should respect both of you.
Hugs,
Jan

PS Warriorwoman, I work with bacteria and tissue healing as my job. If your dog laid on an open cut or licked an open cut that was not bandaged then you could be right.
If your stitches were bandaged and you had a tee shirt or nightie on, then that cute pup is not the culprit.
Infection sadly happens for too many of us, it is from the surgery, not dogs. I am SO sorry it happened to you and that you have to go through all of this.
super (gentle) hugs

You can say in aloud voice AWAY or Back Off. Another option is to position yourself between the dog approaching and your dog in a sit/stay this is if the aisle are big enough. If you do this I would throw treats the opposite direction. You could throw a treat away in the opposite direction and tell the people, your dog is a working dog and it is rude to have the dog approach your dog.
Had to post the picture of Cocoa, the kelpie, and I working sheep the other day. Cocoa says in
order to understand the sheep you must become a sheep.

Faith has a Do not pet on her red vast and leech that goes to my
wheelchair arm. Also it is in the 90s her and my wheelchair ramp is
painted in gray and got like sand so I don't slip, I have to change it
cause its too hot and hurts her feet, She is the love of my life.
PS people are bringing in yellow snake saying their service animal
for seizures.

Sciencegal - I will never know how the infection happened. It's funny how even if it was from my dogs I just cannot be upset with them. I'd rather have my doggies and go through more surgeries than no doggies.
Footprints - I know nothing about this but I cannot help but think that if I witnessed this and was aware that the other dog was unwanted I would step in. Please make a loud fuss and draw attention.
FDM - Very funny! (and sweet)
Lucy - Gotta love that Clairabelle!

Thanks for Your suggestions, I will work with this and see how
get my rights back. Dogs that are not trained don't know how
to act around service dogs

I am so sad. I have two cats who live under my deck - Pretty Miss Speckles and her soul mate Mr. Yellow Kitty. They lived here when we bought our house. Mr. Yellow Kitty has been sick and the vet said when he stops eating it is time. Although he is still eating, due to other symptoms, I will need to take him to the vet to be euthanized today. It kills me. I hate playing God but it is time and is less cruel than his suffering. I feel horrible for Speckles who will be left without her mate. I may see about getting her companionship with another outdoor cat from the humane shelter.
This is Mr. Yellow Kitty in his healthier days in our veggie garden. I really hope God takes him tonight so I don't have to do this. I had to put a dog to sleep many years ago and feel sick about it to this day. I just don't feel entitled to take another life. And yet, the suffering is evident.

Warrior Woman, I am so sorry you are facing this decision. I've had to do it three times in the past several years, and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I completely fall apart. We get so attached to these little fur creatures. After we put the last of our 3 kitties down we ended up bringing home 3 new kittens - The house was just so empty without them. Sadly, this past weekend we lost one of them to a wild predator when she accidentally got out of the house (we found some unfortunate evidence : ( ). I cried all weekend. She was my favorite of the three. I know time heals all wounds, but right now it's just very painful. I will be thinking of you tomorrow, and hope Mr. Yellow Kitty has a peaceful journey to the Rainbow Bridge. He is a beautiful cat.
My beautiful, sweet Moxie

Thank you so much, Monis. I'm sorry for your heartache too.

Monis and WW - so sorry for your sadness. Moxie and Mr Yellow Kitty are beautiful babies and are both so lucky they spent some time with your families. It is so hard to lose a furbaby. Thinking of you.
Here is my crew sending you some comfort.

Look at those faces!
I confirmed with the vet that it's time. It is the right thing to do. I really wish God had done this for me. The ironic part is that Mr. Yellow Kitty is sick from cancer. F***in' cancer!

Oh WW. I'm sorry. We've lost three in three years, I'm grateful that two passed on their own. It is so hard to know when. You've given Mr. Yellow Kitty a beautiful life. Gentle hug.

Thank you, Lucy. It's over now. I agonized but it was time. I do not doubt I did the right thing. Mr. Yellow Kitty brought us much happiness. He is missed.

Thanks everyone. Mr. Yellow Kitty is buried in the back yard. We found a clearance in the woods and that will be our pet cemetery. I hope to live here for many many years. I made him a marker. It reads, "Our Dear Friend Mr. Yellow Kitty". It's nicely decorated with stones and a nice way to remember my friend.

That is nice Warrior woman. I am glad Mr. Yellow Kitty is still in the spot that he loved. So sorry for your loss.
