Happy New Year, everyone! I've been reading and learning but not sharing - I get weekly Taxol #8 out of 12 this Tuesday. I've done okay - a little tingling in fingertips a little joint pain and intestinal issues. The stuff we can handle in our sleep, right? The worst has been fatigue and chemo brain. I feel mentally s-l-o-w and I am just slogging through it all at this point. I am anemic, and have been getting iron infusions (4) along with chemo and magnesium. I spent 6 hours in the chair last week and was at the center from 8:30-4:30. Aarrgghh! I thought my head was going to explode! MO going to discuss options if my red blood count isn't up this week. Has anyone been through this? Options don't make me happy - injections of drug with lots of SE's and blood transfusions.Even though MO says diet can't fix this - it's chemo - if my mom was still here I know she'd be feeding me liver and onions. And I'd eat it

Linda here, again! I'm looking forward to meeting y'all Feb.1st. I see in earlier posts that everyone loves the Grist Mill, and didn't Cindy want to get in some Winter tubing? Ha! San Marcos, Gruene - anyplace works for me.

Terri - thanks for sharing the stories of Christmastime with your grandbabies. Brought back good memories.

Cindy - I never sign up for things, but you convinced me to try for Casting for Cancer. I'm so sorry to hear about all the crapola you and your DH have been going through. Hoping for some nice, boring good health in this new year. I'm so impressed with your sweet, well-trained pup! My Abby Airedale has trained me, I'm afraid.

Linda, again... Abby is 10 and we rescued each other 5 1/2 years ago through Texas Airedale Rescue Team. She is my chemo buddy. She was diagnosed with lymphoma with masses on her mammaries a few weeks before I found my Breast lump. Weird but true! She is a sweet and goofy girl, and doesn't leave my side. She's doing good on chemo. We figured if we could have more time with her and if she continued to have a good quality of life without the SE's, we'll keep on. It's been strangely comforting.

Candy - I'm envious and inspired by your trip! I'm ahead of you with Taxol and planning on getting away from home for a while during the break between chemo and radiation

    Linda, again...

    - Zelda, I hate hearing about your reconstruction problems. Take care of yourself.

    - shewolf - I can't wait to get this port outta me! I'm using your deporting language!

    - Vicki - wow! That tattoo is an amazing tribute. Love our boys.

    - chaos - I'm proud of your continuing to make the best decisions for your own care and look forward to hear that you are doing well.

    - holli - thanks for sharing the photos and inspirational blogs throughout the holidays.

    - Jen - I thought you couldn't top your trip to Britain and still want to travel with you! But then...the firefighters and pups - keep it coming, please!

Almost done, I promise. Did y'all see this blog from 12/10/14 in BREASTCANCER.ORG by Amy Small-McKinney, titled I Am Strong, I Am Not. It really captured where I think a lot of us are right now and so much of what I depend on this group to share. Thank you!

Also- i need to be heading back to Austin by 145ish as I am going to a performance at 3. My flamenco teacher has a wonderful dance troupe that is performing If any of you are interested:

I am happy to pick people up, but since I am heading to that after, unless you want to join me or are South of the Carver Center, you will need to pool with someone else back North. Just let me know!

I'm going back a couple of pages as I missed a bit during all my overtime:

Linda- You post all you want! we love hearing from you! hope you are feeling a little better. Glad you enjoyed the photos- wish i could have really taken you all with me! Taxol was a nightmare for me. i can relate. I say it to everyone- but start adding blackstrap molasses to your diet- lots of iron and other minerals, and helps with your intestines. Let's see some pics of Abby? will check out the blog you mentioned.

Kelsey- There will be a new you, and she will take a lot of figuring out, and getting used to. But keep looking forward! congrats on your deport!

Candy- How are you feeling? Don't forget to holler if you need anything, I'm not that far away. I know taxol is hard.

Terri- Love that image/quote. Very true. Hooray on your check up! Tamoxifen= more swiss cheese brain for me. I am so forgetful. I am glad you met another bc sister and invited her along.

Cindy- How are you doing? how is hubby? and your big Hunter? Happy 20th anniversary to you both even if it was at the dr. I hope things are getting better for all. Over your flu?? Happy 2 year ann of being free!

Jana- Hope you are healing up nicely and we'll get to see you.

Holli- congrats on your deport. i was so happy to get rid of mine!

Vicki- How are you? Your son's tattoo is beautiful!

Chaos- I am glad you decided, and hope you are happy with your decision. I know it was a big one.

Zelda- so sorry you are having issues with your recon. stay strong, they will get it right for you!

Lisa- I am from SA- and like to visit. Galveston is nice too. I'd probably pick Gal, but know that it is the Gulf coast, no clear water! But the town is lovely, and full of fun things to do.

Jen - those lemons are awesome. Just gorgeous. I can imagine how excited you are. Where is your tree - ground, pot?

    Hi Yall!

Jeni - lemon pie! Please:))). Wow love your post and those lemons 😘

Book lady - sweet Abb! Related to I am strong I am not!

Terri - still in CA. Hubby did 2 nd trip to ER...still bleeding...headed to USC sometime this week...can't believe surgery was a month ago and he's worse:(

Chaos - congrats on making a decision on tx...:)))

Boom! Yes, boom! To prevent Hunter from lunging towards a loose dog I put my left foot on his leash..his 70# was too much, he jumped and down I went hard on my left cheek...it's bruised and so is my ego...car stopped, neighbor rushed to help, Hunter sat looking at me. Thankfully, I didn't hit my head or use my arm to brace...all about the base...need some padding there...

    Looking forward to seeing Yall!

Rootcellar menu! Brazilian French Toast right now, please.

Finished Taxol #8 yesterday and added two hour iron infusion BUT my hemoglobin numbers went way up so it's working!!! Still waiting on my non-steroid-induced superpowers to return. Brazilian French Toast would help. xo Linda

book lady how wonderful...I am assuming you are now done with Taxol. I just finished my 7th treatment today. One more Taxol in 2 weeks and I am also done. Cannot wait. So glad to hear your counts are up. The fatigue is kind of bad and it really is a bummer when you are used to having energy to do what you want when you want. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts. Hope I can make it to the next TX meet up.Candy

Cindy, sorry to hear of your mis-hap! I hope you and hubby are doing better.

Jana, congrats on the new position. Hope you can make it another time.

Linda, congrats on your last Taxol!

Candy, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you are almost there! Can you see it yet?:).

Whoever wants to ride from RR to SM next week, pls let me know. I'll meet you somewhere in 35/La frontera area about 10:00 am, unless you need me to pick you up. Can't wait to see everyone!

If Rootcellar is good, let's meet there at 11:00. Jen', do we need reservations? Head count, pls, ladies.

    Stay warm~

Candy and Terri - you are both so kind and sweet to jump in with congrats! Unfortunately, I am NOT done with Taxol. I am on dose dense 12 treatments in 12 weeks, but only 4 to go!

I will be at Rootcellar next week, 2/1, 11:00. Gonna say I will be there come hell or high water, but better not push it! Linda

I will meet you ladies there! Rootcellar 11am on the 1st. Be sure you go to the restaurant and not bakery (they just opened this).

You may have to park around the court house and walk. But it isn't too far.

I was hoping the Paper Bear would be open (it's right across the street) but they are closed on Sundays :0(

There is the outlet mall y'all can go visit after lunch. It's my favorite place!!

Change of topic: Need your help /advice ladies. Last chemo will be the 4th of feb. and I am needing some recommendations for a breast surgeon or (surgical onco.) in the central TX area. Scott & White in Temple lost their primary breast surgeon (Dr. Dauway) in dec. and they have not found a replacement - they have a good general surgeon who has taken over doing most of the breast surgeries last few months - prior specialty was bariatric. Not sure he will be my first choice. Austin area may be closest as I am in Belton. tHanks ladies - wish I could come on 2-1. Cand
