Thank you ladies. Lisa that is a beautiful photo.

I actually did a little research last night on the differences and there is a Canadian version too. I never did come to any conclusion. Lisa I am wondering if your pic is a male. I haven't looked into the variations there but I know sometimes you can see the pretty blue on some better than others.

I have not considered planting milkweed. Because of shade trees I have a limited amount of sunlight and those areas I have my roses. I am betting milkweed needs lots of sun. I would love to have some plants that attract butterflies. I do a lot of container gardening and I plant more annuals than most gardeners. I do get some butterflies and they are probably coming when I am not seeing them too.

Can't wait to see the butterflies in person!!!

hiking lady, I have no clue what the plant was. Maybe some sort of thistle.

Nancy. My milkweed doesn't really any direct sunlight. I plant them in containers on my patio.

SoCalLisa Spectacular!! These are absolutely stunning, and thanks for sharing. I'm inspired now for photos and for planting. Part of my healing plan for this year after Trauma Year is to enjoy my garden. We get about 5-6 months of lovely garden time in Portland. Both of my children live in the LA area, so I love going down and seeing SoCal year-round garden beauty in your area.

Lisa, they are great photos of butterflies, especially the one with the caterpillar too!!

Lisa, I may have to try the milkweed in a container. Did you grow yours from seed? I know your growing season is much longer than ours so I would have to research that. I am assuming it is a perennial. Does yours come back every year. I know you have a different hybrid of milkweed than I normally see here. I love the butterflies and esp the Mama and baby. When I was researching the Tiger Swallowtails I had no idea this really cool caterpillar belonged to that family. I will have to see if I can find a pic to post. I don't have any of my own photos for that.

Every spring I can't wait to photograph the bluebells in the woods. This one day much to my surprise this beauty flew into my scene. It is not a great pic but it does show the detail on our Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.

Here is the caterpillar for the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Not my photo) Isn't nature unbelievable.

Here is a fall pic of our milkweed. Maybe I should have taken some seeds even though that is not allowed in our forest preserves.

I grow my milkweed from seeds I collect from the ones I have. I bought the original plant.

Thanks Cathy. Can't wait to get some pics of the Bluebells this spring. I had hoped to get out with my camera yesterday afternoon but my PT session wiped me out. The exercises are improving my balance in a very short time. Some exercises I could hardly do at all on our first session I am doing pretty well now. I just need the stamina to be able to do my lap swimming and PT on the same days. We'll see. Have a great weekend everyone. Tonight we change our clocks and lose and hour of sleep but we gain more daylight in the evening and I love that. Today was hoping for camera time and it is raining. I thought I might go to the orchid nursery with my camera but not today.

Nancy, I'm glad the PT exercises are improving your balance in a very short time. I hope your stamina improves and you can get to the orchid nursery soon.

It's nice that your daylight savings is starting. Ours ends on the first Sunday in April.

Nancy, good for you on the PT. My balance is still shaky and breaking both my ankles and having neuropathy don't help. These are itsy bitsy butterflies

Lisa, they are good photos of butterflies. I'm sorry that your balance is still shaky and you broke both ankles. That must have been very difficult! I hope things improve for you.

Lisa, how are you doing with your ankles now? I know getting out and taking pictures is a great improvement from when you fell and broke your ankle. If I had ankle problems it would be very difficult doing most of my balance exercises. I know some of my issues are coming from my AI. I will be finished with that at the end of July and it will be happy dance time when that time comes!

Here is a little guy I took last summer.

    Nancy. Love your cute butterfly.

I am vertical, but hobble. At least I am out of the wheelchair 😊 not being able to put weight on either foot was traumatic as I couldn't transfer from the chair with out a transfer board. So I can put up with the hobbling 😍

Lisa, my Dad when he was living went through that because of a tragic car accident. He was in a wheelchair for a long time with broken and injured ankles. I am sure it was traumatic for you. When I started losing feeling in my right foot (which to date has still not been explained) I was scared I would not be able to walk eventually. We are fortunate to have a hobby that gives us joy. I just wish I could have delved into photography earlier in life as there is so much I want to learn and explore but I am soaking it all up in the meantime. I am about to invest in a pretty pricey twin macro lighting kit that attaches to your lens. I find myself in situations that I need more natural light but don't have it. Also it could help pass the winter months with some indoor macro and some store bought flowers.

Nancy, I hope you have fun with your twin macro lighting kit.

Lisa, I'm glad you can at least hobble now and I hope you get more mobile over time. I'm sure it was traumatic when you couldn't put weight on your ankles - that must have been very hard.

It is supposed to come tomorrow. I can't wait. I have been studying up on using off camera flashes. A whole new area of photography I have never explored. It seems intimidating but I think maybe I have watched enough Youtube videos to get up an running hopefully quickly. I also see my neurologist tomorrow for the first time since Dec. Should be interesting since it has been a challenge communicating with her.

Thanks Cathy. My apt went very well considering I was very disappointed with the initial apt. We did more testing. The conclusion is there is something in the part of the brain that should not be there and frankly they don't know what it is. There is two differing opinions from MRI's only three months apart. However my doctor is 98% sure it is not mets to the brain. The protocol, since a needle biopsy is too dangerous is the watch, wait and rescan routine. We have moved the next MRI to only six months instead of a year. I feel more comfortable doing that. PT is very exhausting with my swimming in there too and is very hard on my body since I have fibromyalgia. I ended up pretty much at the end of my rope yesterday when I had to take my cat to ER vet and we were there all afternoon. So the exhaustion level for me has been off the charts. Today I had dinner with a family that I have shared a nursing home ministry with for the last eight years. I am not longer going to do it with all of the current issues now. Stress over my cat and if she is going to snap out of this is another wait and see.

Tonight was a rare night with the moon showing and I have been itching to try out my new camera with the new accessories I bought for moon photography especially but too dragged out tonight to get my equipment out. One of these days it will all come together and hopefully soon.

Lisa, that is an interesting looking bird with such a long tail. Do you know what kind it is? Nice shot.

Lisa, it's a nice photo of a mockingbird. How are you doing?

Nancy, I'm glad that your neurology appointment went well but I'm sorry your doctor isn't sure what's happening with your brain. It's tough that your PT is so exhausting, especially since you have fibromyalgia. I have fibromyalgia too. I pray that you have more energy and that your cat will be okay.

It has been a tough time with my cat issues and myself. After my mammogram today I went out to the lake for a little camera time. Here are some pics from the morning.

Nancy, I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I feel for you.

I'm glad you got to the lake for some camera time. The first bird has stripes, which I've never seen before. It's a really clear photo too.
