Every year, the white pelicans stop by on their migration.

    Lisa,

Love those pics. In that last pic is that a baby. Can't quite make out what is going on. Very cool though.

Lizzysmom, keep thinking of you. I sure hope that your money transfer went to the right place. I got an email a couple days ago saying my credit card had been compromised and they were closing it out and issuing me a new one. When I called to be sure the email was valid they could not tell me which merchant it was that my card was compromised. Yes, so much for technology! You can't live with it but you can't live without it. I sure hope things will be looking up for you soon. I know it has been a tough few weeks for you.

I don't know what they were doing either. They were quite a distance away

Lisa, love those pelicans. It was only this fall when I got to see many of them at our State park that I realized they had some black on their wings. I also was surprised to see their web feet. Amazing birds.

I am trying my best to make some photo opps in the winter here. This is a whole new thing for me.

Someone put up an ornament. It says for the doggies and the birds and the fish & trees.

Nancy, what lovely relaxing photos!! Lisa, I love those pelicans too. I have never seen any in real life.

Things are moving along slowly but my nerves are really bad. The lawyer got the money OK and I have sent him another payment but DH is insisting on a statement so we know what he is actually doing.

The young lady over there has been so helpful. She is local so she visits the house and is setting aside some keepsakes and I also told her to take some for herself and her children, as they were so fond of my stepfather, including the piano as that was my moms and I did not want to see it go for trash. She also knows a funeral director so hopefully things can start moving along. I need to speak to the lawyer about that and work something out.

I have made it to the gym or work some days but have so much fatigue and just want to hide in my bed with the TV, my computer and my photos. I watched the football and listened to a couple of classic rock concerts that were streaming from London to help relax and escape. I do have anti anxiety meds but have to ration as PCP will only give me enough to take one every other day. The ROs office left a message about my 6 month check up and I still need to call them back. Need to see the MO too as I have let everything slide. My bad I am such a wimp!

I DID take a picture though, of this rose. I used raw as I was indoors, so set the WB to tungsten. There are more options to play with the image and tweak the white balance further after the fact if it is raw, then I saved the edited version as jpeg. Oh, and this is a pic I took of my sax. It's such a pretty color.

    Hi Lizzysmom,

What a beautiful rose. Your sax is gorgeous with the green and gold tint. I have never shot in raw but I still have not purchased any editing software. I am just using the free stuff in Windows which of course is not much.  I am glad that this young lady has access to your stepfathers house and that she is going to take some things for you. That is really nice that you are giving her the piano. Hopefully between both of you things will get done. I can't imagine how hard that is trying to deal with all of this so far away. I am glad your money made it to the attorney. I am going to post some photos I took today and hopefully they will evoke some relaxation for you again. I stumbled on this place when I drove by yesterday and saw a bunch of deer there. I turned the car around and grabbed my bird camera and right when I was about to get them this man who was walking scared them away. Oh well. So I went to the same place at almost sunset tonight to see if I could find them. They were all probably looking at me and saying to each other we will come out when that crazy lady with the two cameras leaves! I discovered a little gem I had never scene before. Here they are. It was pretty much a damp and cloudy day until sunset and no sun to be seen but a sort of a pretty sky.

Nancy, they are lovely, What a peaceful place to sit on that bench with the little bridge, as long as you have plenty of warm clothes at the moment!!! We get deaer in our yard but I have only once been able to get a photo, a couple of years ago. I see their prints in the snow though.

Nancy.I think that the software that came with the Canon SX 50 can do RAW,because the camera can take RAW

  • lyzzysmom

I just have photoshop elements 12 that came with this computer and can convert from raw. I hardly use raw unless I think the white balance is likely to be a problem as the files are so huge and at my level it often does not make much difference. When I had my old computer I downloaded elements from Amazon for under $70 I think it was. I googled the raw converter on the old computer and there was adobe software that could be just downloaded and installed very easily into elements to convert from raw on my camera. I don't recall having to do that with this computer even though I had a new model camera. Adobe are pretty good at updating the raw converters quickly for new models. My cameras are Sonys and Sony was a bit peculiar in that it had its own version or raw. I did not like the Sony software much so I didn't load it on this computer.

Thanks Lisa. There was an issue when I tried to download that but I can't even remember what it was now. I don't think I have that downloaded. I think I remember. It had to do with them not including the needed cable and I didn't have one that size to connect the camera to the computer.

Lizzysmom, I was at my mom's for three weeks and was sick off and on for a good part of that time. I got home last week but still wasn't feeling great.  I had hopes of getting some software but just haven't had a chance. I was able to get some home health care set up for my mom so that was a huge undertaking and hopefully will work out.  I have a thyroid biopsy this Thursday which is a concern so I am bracing for a surgery possibly. So we'll see. I am trying to get out and take some pics the last couple of days in case I won't be able to in the near future. I see my MO tomorrow. I had terrible stomach pain while swimming laps today. That was discouraging. Not sure what all I will tell him. I still want to hang in there with this AI. I had decided on the latest Photoshop Elements when I looked into it a few months ago. Thanks for all the tips.

    Hi Lisa,

I will have to go back and see what the issue was. I sort of remember downloading the cd to my laptop and I thought at one point it said to connect the camera to the laptop. I will have to see.

Lisa beautiful pics. What a cute little guy!

Lizzysmom, How are you doing? Been thinking about you.

I am looking into taking some workshops with this local pro photographer. The problem is they start soon and I am still waiting on my thyroid biopsy result. I may just jump in anyway. We'll see.

We are in the midst of a major snow storm. Provided some great photo ops today but it was hard walking around. Snow is still falling. It started at 7pm on Sat and it is after 8pm on Sunday.

Here are some pics around my neighborhood.

Loving the pictures of the snow, but I am sure glad I don't have to deal with it...sunny and seventies here today..

Lisa, I will give you more reason to be glad you are where you are and not here. We had 16 inches of snow which is quite the rare occasion. It has been full of photo opps which I am loving. I will post some pics from my travels today. I found out my thyroid biopsy was benign so I immediately signed up for the photo workshops which will start next week. I have installed Adobe Elements 13 and have ordered a book on it from Amazon. I will be taking a course on that in the future.

Lizzysmom, still thinking of you and hope you are feeling better and getting things taken care of from afar.

Lisa, I remember you posting some pics from there in the past. I have never been to California but I can experience some of it through your lens.Smile

Lizzysmom, still thinking of you and hoping you are doing better.

I took this shot today. This is the river that is near my neighborhood. It was not in black in white even though it looks like it.

Bandwoman, that is just beautiful. It made me shiver! LOL

The difference in our weather is amazing, this is my place yesterday afternoon, the ripples to the right are where the Dolphins were, but i just couldn't catch them before they were under the water again.

Sorry about the small pic below, I couldn't delete it.

Ariom, beautiful shot and dolphins right there too. Wow. We had a major snowstorm the other day for the Chicago area. If you scroll back I posted quite a few pics from that as well. Hope you are doing well. I hear your summer is quite hot and tomorrow it is to be very, very cold here. Isn't if funny how that all works.

It's amazing going from Lisa's beach shots, to your snow shots and geographically, you're not that far apart! we have been seeing the snow storms and the damage on our news over here. We have had a very mild start to Summer, but this weekend is heading into the high 30'sC.

I am now taking some classes with this photography pro. I am learning a lot. I have finished three sessions out of thirteen. It has been tough getting pictures in this weather. Here are a few that I got. I am not becoming extremely critical of my pictures so I guess that is a good thing. Can't wait til warmer weather to actually get some color besides white!
