the antibiotics seems to have done a good job for my chest whatever. Arm still hurts a lot. See the PT tomorrow.

Lisa, glad your AB are working. Sorry to hear you are having arm pain still. You are still in PT obviously. I sure hope this goes away for you.

Joanne, thank you. Cammie just ran upstairs and is meowing. That is her sign that I don't like you being on your computer because you are not paying attention to ME. LOL You should have seen me trying to get a good pic of the dog. He kept running up to my face and wanting to lick me. Afterwards I told my neighbor that he is probably expecting payment for being my model!

Thanks Scottie. My cat is actually a blue point Ragdoll but she looks so much like my blue point Himalayan I had before her. Her dark areas seem to get darker as she ages. She is only 8 though. I can't handle the weight of a full frame DSLR so I got Nikon's top cropped sensor, the Nikon d7200. I have quite a few Nikon lens so I wanted to stay with that brand. I do have a Canon like Lisa and I call that my bird camera. It is a 50x zoom which solves the problem of a long heavy lens which i doubt if I could handle. Are you traveling now? Hopefully getting some nice pics.

I have decided to give acupuncture a try. The jury is still out but on the way I stopped by the rose garden at Balboa Park. First time since they cut them back.

    Glorious! !!

Thanks Mumito. Love the duck shot. LOL (You know, duck and run!)

Lisa, i have heard that acupuncture is good for pain but I have never tried it. I hope it works for you. Love the roses. I am at my mom's right now for a week, Just got in last night. I saw my first Baltimore Oriole in her yard. I had just filled her bird feeders. I had no idea what this bird was and by the time I ran to get my camera it flew away. I saw enough of it to find it online. She lives in central Illinois about three hours south of me. Itching to get out and take more shots with my new camera.

Lovely pixs ladies. Lisa let us know if the acupuncture works. My PT has recommended it for continued nerve pain. Finally home after a week of traveling. We had some really fun times. Seeing my mom in IN was very difficult. She has alzheimers and did not remember the kids, her only grandchildren. I did have some good photo ops on the way up and back though.

Got home from my moms and I am sick with this stomach virus that just doesn't want to quit. Been dealing with it for several weeks now. Haven't got to use my new camera much at all.

Scottie, your pics are gorgeous. My mom has dementia too. That is why I go back and forth all the time to visit her to check up on her as she is still living alone. I understand how hard it is.

    Lisa, how are you doing?

Nancy, still doing my PT exercises for my arm, don't know about the acupunture...will try one more session..we are going up to see my middle son this weekend He is an MD and I am going to run this all by him and see my surgeon again 9 May. But the Doc is a trauma bone orthopod and doesn't get too much into the muscles, etc too much I think. Vamos a ver.

Lisa, do you think your issue is muscle at this point. I have fibromyalgia and I had a myotherapist for years who really helped me. It was a system all built around trigger points and pain referral patterns. I know there are probably more on the East coast and only a few in our area and I don't have clue in your area but it might be worth checking out. I would not have been able to do my strenuous job of being a band director without her help all of those years. I sure hope you can get some relief.

I am still battling this stomach virus that just doesn't want to give up. In all the hours of laying around I have been studying many macro tutorials videos and I bought an expensive macro lens which should be coming in a few days. I sure hope I will feel like using it as the weather finally looks like it is turning more spring like after a return to winter.

    Hope you feel better.

Some of this is probably muscle Nancy, but it is trauma related so don't know what to do next. Will request my ortho doc to recommend someone.

so I went to smell the roses today with my friend who just lost her husband.

Lovely flowers Lisa, hope you get some relief. I'm still very frustrated with my own recovery. . .still having nerve pain and in PT.

Tomorrow I'm doing senior photos for one friend's daughter at our botanical gardens and then prom photos of another friend's daughter later in the day. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. . .err edit.

Lisa, beautiful rose pics. My roses are barely getting new growth so not sure what they are going to do. It sounds like we all are struggling. I have had this stomach and throat thing for a month and finally got the throat looked at today. The verdict looks like a persistent virus but waiting to see if more tests are warranted. I hope you can get some answers for your muscle problem.

Scottie, sorry to hear you are having issues too. I hope your shoot went well. This is really the first I have been out for days and it was like summer here. Such weird weather we have had this spring from snow to hail to rain to summer at least for one now. I am itching to get out there with my new camera and new macro lens. It is very heavy and I hope I can still hand hold it for at least some shots. I know I need a tripod more than likely.

Hope we all get better soon.

    Nancy

Over 90 degrees here today. I just love it. I like our kind of heat without much humidity.

Nice Lisa. I had an article I cut out of the paper on Monarchs many weeks ago and was going to post it........... and life happened and I think it is still sitting on my table. It was about how the Monarchs are making a comeback after dwindling in numbers in past years. I know we photographers love to hear that. I saw a butterfly today. Haven't seen many this season but we have had some pretty crazy weather too. I haven't seen any Monarchs though. In the 80's here today but that won't last long.

I got a tripod years ago and my photos improved by 10X!!!! Someone had said to me, "So why do you think you can hold so still? It's not a contest...." A macro lens would DEFINITELY need a tripod or a monopod (I have both) or at the least a baby tripod. There is no way you can keep still because even thinking about it makes you quiver..... Can you see the difference in these two shots?

Welcome back to the boards Barbe. I am sure sorry to hear of your more recent dx. Yes, I can see the first image is definitely sharper but they both look good. Did you handhold the second shot. I have been sick with this virus for a month and in that time I have bought a new camera and just got the new macro lens on Saturday that I ordered online. I was still not feeling great today but decided to take a drive through our Arboretum. It was cold and windy and definitely not a good day for macro work but I wasn't feeling great and wasn't even sure if I would get out of the car. I did not take my tripod but packed my cameras. I need a tripod that will support more weight than the one i currently have. In my sickness I have read and watched a ton of videos on macro work. I understand there is a learning curve to get used to the macro lens and to figure you will get lots of poor shots. I just wanted to see what it was like to focus so I got some hand held shots today and it was very difficult because of the wind and the Nikon micro 105mm AF VR lens is heavy with my new camera which is heavier than my old one. I will have to post something from today. I want to look through them first. I at least got the shock over as to just what i am dealing with. It will be a whole new experience for sure.

I have researched tripods ad nauseum. I realize that I need to go to the local camera shop and actually see them in person and see what the ball heads feel like as apposed to the gear heads. What kind of set up do you use?

Thanks for your input and glad to see you back on the boards.

Here are my very first attempts with the real macro lens. Knowing what blur is acceptable will take some experience. I will probably laugh at these later on.

Joanne, foxglove come up every two years so don't give up!

Bandwoman, I have a lens so heavy that the tripod goes on the lens, not the camera. Check your lens bottom to see if there's a hole.

You will always get a blur as it is part of "depth of field" if you've read that. You want your focal point very, very sharp and everything else will blur. All part of the magic. you did great!!
