You're on. Bring trowels and other implements of gardening. I'll provide snacks/afternoon tea, manicure tools, hot baths, and occasional vists from an incredibly flirtatious boycat who wants to know if we brought him catnip.

Good evening Crazies...Thanks to those of you who replied about my thumb..I tried to rest it today and it feels a bit better, but I will bring it up with MO Thursday when we have our discussion about which AI...I am getting anxious about the MO apt for no real reason, but hubby offered to go with me, which will help, and then I will have you in my pockets too, I know...

Rain, I'd invite you out to California but I have the bad feeling our primary could end up mattering as well...

Slow, I don't believe you on the 50 lbs; where were they at the get together?! I love the pic too!

Today was a better day. I think it is because the crud may have finally left the house. That helped....and while I am still swamped at work I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel..

But mostly I can trace feeling better to swimming and baseball. Managed to get in the pool and do laps for 45 minutes. then, went home and watched the game. Yes, the season opener for the Giants was yesterday, (in Milwaukee) but it was a day game and I couldn't watch. Tonight I could, AND it was a close game that we won. First place, perfect record so far. I will take it. Maybe I am crazy, but I will believe in the magic of even years as long as possible...

Welcome to the new Crazies! You are in the right place. Sending hugs and waves to all of you!

I guess I hit Nadir and I'm totally going crazytown because on top of it, my sweet semi-feral cat got hit by a car. The sweet baby used to give me foot massages. So I'm grieving, and at a low point on my immunity and feeling weak. So I'm just here to whine. :p

Oh, CJ, so sad about your kitty! Still on pins & needles waiting on test results for mine--the specialty vet center was supposed to call with them by last night, I’ve heard nothing and am leaving for TX in an hour. Happy seems to be moving a bit faster, though still limping/waddling and obviously still hurting a bit. He’s being very clingy, having seen the packed suitcases by the door. Gordy will have to hold down the fort taking care of him, and it’s a lot to ask. (He doesn’t drive, and the specialists are a half-hour cab ride away; Happy doesn’t take well to riding or even going outdoors. He’s lived with us ever since he was 8 weeks old, and will have his 9th birthday on our anniversary in June). I’m nervous because it can be anything from a saddle thrombus to a spinal stroke to cardiomyopathy (despite no audible murmur) or abdominal cancer. They had to shave half his little belly so they could do the ultrasound/echocardiogram. Still trying to wrap my head around this happening despite all precautions--we watch his diet, don’t let him out, take him for his shots & exams annually; he went in for a dental cleaning perfectly fine and he came out so sick.

Well, after a day in limbo, he called. He said it looks to him like a benign cyst. He said the radiologist said it looks like a benign cyst. BUT, they decided they want to do a different kind of ultrasound, something called a dynamic ultrasound. Never heard of it. I asked him all sort of questions, like why do another sort of ultrasound if it looks benign to everybody? Was he sure it looks benign? He told me he would tell me if he thought differently. I said is he sure it isn't cancer? He said he would tell me if he thought so. I asked him what if it was cancer? He said, Lisa, why do you say that? I said because I am a scaredy cat. So, they are going to call me to schedule me for this test. Next Tuesday, I am going for pre admit testing for my surgery scheduled on the twenty second of this month. I am getting my right breast implant out to put in another one. Getting my left one lifted to be more in line with the right one, and tram flap revision, and my chemo port out. I really hope they can get all this testing and stuff settled (along with my mind) before then.

When I had my first Pet scan a few years ago, they found a spot on my lung, and did a biopsy on it. It was nothing. They found some lesions on my liver, but they were nothing. During a visit before treatment, they thought my left breast looked red around my surgical scar, so they biopsied that. My breast cancer had a cyst in or around or a part of it. I think I need some of those ativan sprinkles. I actually had to go look it up to see what ativan is. I think that's what they had to give me before I went into the MRI.

CJ, I am sorry about your kitty. I have three, and have had many over the years, and wish I still had them all.

    Thanks y'all, Lisa

10 days post-op from my final (hopefully) reconstructive surgery and saw the PS nurse today. Everything looks great and I'm healing up well. PS took over 200 cc of fat from my tummy and outer thighs and put about 80 cc into each breast, made the breast capsule tighter, and took out my port

I also had my chest ct done today for an annoying cough that has been with me about 6 weeks. Logically, I'm sure there's nothing there but the little voice in the back of my head really wants to see that negative test result before I can truly rest easy. Hopefully, I'll get results before the end of the week.

    Evening Crazies,

QM, I love daffodils!! I've got trowels and instruments, can I play too?!?!?

Rainy, That WAS a very moving piece. Thank you for the post - beautiful and sad. It made me think of my own DD and wonder if she will have to face this disease someday. I guess we can't exclude our sons either. I sure hope we see a cure in our lifetime. You're always welcome in CA!! Just give me a few weeks to have 1/3 of my upper lobe removed and then we can paint the town!!

    Loopy

JAN, We will all be in your pocket tomorrow for your eye shots!!! Please drive safely!!! Maybe DH can drive and you can sleep???

    image

Octo, We will all be in your pocket tomorrow!!! I will even shower and put on make-up for the occasion. Please let us know how it goes. Sending you extra love and hugs.

Ok....you got me....it's really 52 pounds <hanging head in shame> Very happy to hear you're out swimming again. Doesn't baseball cheer everyone up??

CJ, Oh my goodness....that is awful. I'm so sorry. I just don't know what to say. Gentle hugs to you!!

Iris, That would be wonderful if only one shot was needed. Get some rest and give your body time to heal.

Tomboy, Where have you been hanging out?? Staying out of trouble??

Sandy, It's like us humans. We eat well, exercise and live a good, clean life and stuff happens. I hope it's good news on the lab results. In the meantime, we are all waiting with you. Safe travels to Texas.

Twinnie, Awwww....thanks. You are by far the better looking twin!!! :)

lcm, Take every bit of good news you can get. Right now, that is very good news. Worry about the other stuff when it's time. Easy to say, huh??? Seriously though....that news sounds really good. I'm glad they are being extra cautious. Hang in there.

rleepac, Great news on the follow-up. Doing the happy dance for you!!

    image

Sending best wishes for a clear CT scan. Please let us know when you can. In the meantime, find a comfy chair and enjoy the nice cool breeze and extra Ativan sprinkles.

Katy, LOVE the card. It's perfect for Crazy Town!! Everything IS better with sprinkles and OUR Katy. :)

Hope you all have a pain-free, peaceful sleep. Goodnight crazies!!

    Love to all!!!

Thanks for the love and hugs everyone. Pepper was a sweet girl, she'll be missed. I'm going to bury her in my yard where she loved to chase butterflies this weekend.

I guess I'm starting to figure out my chemo flow - I was really weak for about 2 days, and I feel better now - and even coffee tastes good again.

This group is so supportive. I love reading about the good (and even the bad - it's all life).

I am praying it's not that which shall not be named. I am headed out for a day of play. This is an extremely rare thing for me. I am going to the opening day of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Happy

    Bekah, glad you're healing well.

Love to all gearing up for surgery or recovering....

Octo, in your pocket today. Jan, too!

Katy, I'd like one of those cupcakes, please!

Went to a meeting last night for a local school board committee I'm serving on. The reward: I got a ride home from the committee chair (longtime friend of mine and DH, and he owns a high-end car repair shop). He happened to be test driving a vintage Jaguar! Gorgeous ride. Oh yeah, and the committee meeting went well, too!

Hope all crazies have a good day, in and out of various pockets!

We'll feeling just a tad stiff and wondering if the back is really ok. Steroids do make it hard to fall asleep but hey, i can handle that . I know that the pt after shots is considered important but therapy says they do not do till doc says ok. Knowing me, gonna have trouble behaving and not overdoing stuff

    This is really wierd!

Got to the resort okay, other than the flight was delayed an hour for some mysterious mechanical reason and Hertz screwed up my car rental--had reserved and paid for a Prius and they gave me a Focus that wasn't even a hybrid: two car classes down. This is the first time in the 20 years I've been a #1 Club Glod member I got downgraded rather than upgraded and it was totally unacceptable, as they had plenty of better cars in my price class available. They finally gave me a Camry (no hybrids at that location, so why did the site let me reserve one?), but it took half an hour to get it ready. We got to the resort, but the only restaurant open in it was barely better than a Chili's or Applebee's. Hoping we can get into the Antlers tonight--Bob has his classes all day and part of the evening, and I don't want to have to drive into unfamiliar territory at night, what with my worsening cataracts. (Despite having had one of his done, Bob has an even tougher time with night driving).

And the news is not good with Happy. As I suspected, there may have been negligence on the part of the neighborhood vet. He is spilling protein into his urine, and his kidney function is very poor--at his annual checkup in Feb. it was perfectly normal. The specialists think it could either be a coincidence or an injury sustained when he first started careening around bumping into things upon being released from his carrier--which begs the question: what the heck did they give him for anesthesia that could have caused brain or kidney damage or both?). He's seeing the neurologist when we come back, but will need to give urine samples in the meantime for Gordy to take to the neighborhood vet. Gordy still likes that vet because they diagnosed our old cat Matthew's renal failure and spinal stroke early enough for us to keep him alive till age 19, but I think they overcharge, mistreat, and have a snotty attitude towards owners whose cats are obese. Gordy hates our previous vet because one of the docs there refused to let us bring back one of our kitties (Gordy's fave) who had gotten frightened and acted out--and less than a year later the cat died suddenly of cardiomyopathy at not even 8 yrs old. That doc left the practice years ago, but Gordy still refuses to go back there despite its almost universally glowing Yelp reviews--and our neighborhood vet gets mostly bad ones,

I had an uncle who owned a vintage jag...but somehow I never got to ride in it. Yay for you, rain!

    ((((Slow)))))

Thanks to all of you for being in my pocket at the MO's this morning. I could feel you squishing around, although I wore pants with big pockets. :-) Hubby came along too, and did the driving (no small deal, it is about sixty miles each way). As appointments go, it went well. We talked about my experiences on and off of Arimidex, and he is switching me to Femara. so, I will start that tomorrow and see how it goes. Guess I need to go in and switch my profile. He agreed that being able to walk without being afraid of falling is important! Other than that, he put in an order for a mammogram in July, did a breast check, said all looks good, and to come back in two months. Not sure why I was so anxious this time, but I am glad it is over and have another two months without apts.!

    Hugs to all;

    Slow - thinking of you!

ChiSandy - sorry to hear about your vet and your kitty. There's no excuse for any kind of snobbery towards pets. And vets have to deal with animals who are scared and frightened. Scared and frightened animals lash out. It's normal. My smallest dog is blind and he can turn into 20 pounds of fur and teeth. We just muzzle him. There are ways to make animals less dangerous - vets of all people should know these techniques. Oy! I have 2 kitties of my own and 3 fosters (and 3 dogs - yeah, I'm a bit nuts). One of my kitties is fat. She has the same things as everyone else, she's just chunky. Like humans, some are slim some tend to chunk.

Octo - glad things are looking good and you are appointment free for 2 months. I look forward to that - although I am appointment free this week, so that's good. :)

Octo, so glad your appt. went well and that your MO is able to switch you to Femara. Rain, cool ride home! CJ, know that you gave Pepper lots of love and some hazard-free years on this earth she might otherwise not have had. We haven't buried any of our past kitties in our yard, but instead have each of their ashes and collars in separate containers (two ginger jars, a hollowed out Egyptian black cat statue, even a Tardis). Only our closest friends, who knew them, know that those objects contain such precious cargo.

Gordy still hasn't gotten up (keeps entertainer's hours), and our housekeeper had to take her best friend to the ER today, so I spoke with his ex-GF, who is still a dear friend to us even a decade after they broke up and helps look after the kitties when we can't. She agrees with me that we need to switch vets--so she is making the arrangements to have Happy's records & results forwarded to the new (actually, old) vet. She says he seems to be more affectionate and is attempting to jump on stuff but agrees with the housekeeper that his halting gait seems to have migrated to the front legs as well. I am afraid of some sort of uremia from the kidney problem; she is sure that he is injured--and may have injured not just soft tissue but a kidney when he hallucinated and went crashing into things. She, the housekeeper and I are convinced that he was either overdosed, mis-administered the drug or even given the wrong anesthetic. We're withholding the Buprenorphine he was prescribed for pain in case it might be contributing to renal toxicity--we'll await veterinary permission to re-administer it as prescribed, unless he seems in obvious pain.

Nobody--feline or human--should go in, perfectly healthy, for dental work and come out severely disabled and possibly with a life-threatening disorder. If a human DDS caused such a result, (s)he'd be subject to sanctions, maybe even a lawsuit. But in Illinois, pets are still considered just property!
