Ducky, pink champagne in Baccarat--you know how to party, m'dear! And Theresa, how did I miss your birthday? Stick a candle in a cassata alla Siciliana, blow it out and then eat the whole thing....and tell me how it tasted!

You can buy gefilte fish ready-made in jars, or DIY. Either carp or pike & whitefish are traditional, but any fresh fish will do. (When I lived in Seattle in the early '70s, I made my own--using salmon and whatever the fish guy at the QFC could come up with). Matzo meal is pulverized matzo--but nobody makes their own, since it's cheap and readily available (usually in canisters or boxes).

I just wanted to share with you all that Saturday Wyatt felt well enough to go see a movie! We took him to see Zootopia. He managed to stay awake for at least 3/4 of the movie. Nerdy

    I just need to vent

I have been off Tamoxifen for 5 weeks because I had surgery and my MO wanted to see if my SEs went away once it got out of my system. The pain in my hands, feet and knees is about 90% gone but still there enough to annoy me. My DH refuses to offer an opinion on if I should take the Tamox or not saying that if he says I should take it then I blame him for my pain but if he says not to take it and I recur that I'll blame him for the recurrence. Don't get me wrong...we have a wonderful relationship and 'blame' is not even part of our lives but he's just looking forward and doesn't want me to hold him accountable for either side of the coin. He will support whatever decision I make but he won't participate. grrrrrr

I think I'll give it another shot and see how it goes. I can always stop it if the pain gets too bad. But I did make an appt with my doc in 3 weeks because I'm anticipating the need for a conversation about how to handle pain.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

Oh, Ducky, you look so pretty. I love the Wall of Fame behind you. I am trying to do one of those myself, either in the hallway or going down the stairs to the man cave. Or both.

Jan, I thought the same, Ducky's celebrating her eighteenth birthday.

Iris, my neck hurts from too much laptop time, so I prop myself up on lots of pillows, lay down, and then put a pillow on my lap to make it level with my sight, and it doesn't make my neck hurt. I don't care if I look lazy, with my glass of iced tea and a box of candy or bowl of fruit by my side, surfing the net. I think we have earned some "laziness".

Bekah, I understand your DH and his not wanting to put his opinion in about your taking Tamoxifen. I don't know which drug gave me awful pain, but the MO said I could take three Ibuprofens and two Tylenols together twice a day only for it, and it seemed to help. I had worse leg pain while taking the antibiotic Levaquin. Also, about five years ago, we were visiting my Mother on Mother's Day, and coming home, he asked me which way he should drive home. It was opposite the way he wanted to go. Well, a drunk driver hit us, spun us around, hit us again, and drove us into another car, while he came to rest against a truck. It was his fault, he went to jail. But, I feel responsible, because I told him to go a different way than he wanted to go. So, now I don't tell him if he asks me.

Well, I am now three days post op, and not as much pain today, thanks to percocet. How long should it take before I am able to run around and do stuff like drive and housework? When can I shower? I don't think I am stinky, yet. I am doing so well because of the drugs, that I am afraid my husband and son will think I am just being lazy. I thought giving myself until at least my PS follow up would be a good recovery time. I think that is on May 4th. Is that being lazy? I don't want to injure anything that was operated on. Speaking of, when I raise my right arm, sometimes the area where the chemo port was removed, I hear a little bubbly fart noise. I just did it again, to be sure that was the right sound description. Did it leave a vacant space that eventually fill in? It doesn't hurt. I just know farty sounds should not come from that area.

Ladies from church are bringing me meals three different days this week. That is so nice of them. Most of them are really good cooks, too. One of them made a beef roast for us one time. It had a gravy that made me want to cry, it was so good. I have occasionally taken meals to the sick, and after this, I will make sure I do so more often.

Sandy, I will have to make this, knowing I can use salmon, which is readily available. For the other fish, can I use cod or flounder? My husband told me he has had matzo ball soup, and loved it, so I bet he would like gefilte fish, too.

Thank you, crazy town residents, for helping me and being in my pocket.

    Lisa

For gefilte fish, if pike & whitefish are the default, then cod & flounder should definitely work too.

Thank you for all the good wishes!! I'm still slowly catching up with you all. You've been busy here in CT and I'm a slow reader.

Katy, We will all be in your pocket tomorrow. Sending the best juju I have for great US results!!

    image

Lucy, I could sit on a peaceful porch all day long. Must be why my butt has become the size of a small state.

Ducky, You are absolutely beautiful....inside and out. Thank you for sharing your pictures with us!! You deserve great parties in your honor. You raised all those kids and did a fabulous job. Now it's time to reap the reward. :)

Shorfi, I always watched my weight, ate very well and exercised a minimum of 30 minutes a day. Guess what?? I got BC...it didn't matter. My sister eats what she wants, doesn't exercise and other than problems with her veins, she is fairly healthy. It's a crap-shoot. If someone tells you otherwise, send them in my direction. I will steer them in the direction of our CT bouncer. Please, please don't be hard on yourself.

lcm, Sending healing thoughts your way. QM comes up with the best gift baskets. Be kind to yourself and take your time getting back to the routine. Enjoy the pampering while you can. I must admit the farting sounds gave me a giggle. The things we endure. What a freak accident. I don't blame you for not wanting to give an opinion on directions. My DH always asks me too. I just tell him you're driving, your decision.

Rainy, After some blah news this weekend you really made my day. Thank you for thinking of me!! I sent you an email. :) My DH and I haven't been on a trip since before my original diagnosis. I can totally relate to the electronic devices. We almost need another car just to fit them all.

Octo, I hope you're enjoying your vacation. Please have a margarita for me!

JAN, I'll sit on the porch with you. We can admire our new sign together. I'm so happy you're doing better.

PTS, Sitting at a computer does the same thing to me. Neck exercises help after a long session.

Molly, That is awesome news about Wyatt!! I would have loved to see his face during the movie.

rleepac, Vent away!! That is why we are here in CT. I often feel sorry for our men for having to watch us go through all of the pain and decision making. I know if the situation was reversed, I would be a nervous wreck if my DH had BC. These decisions are so difficult. At least you know you can stop if you try again and it doesn't work out. Gentle hugs to you!

Per usual, I've rambled on. I guess my quick hello kept growing. hahaha

I hope you all have a wonderful, pain free evening. Time for more reading.

    Love to all...quiet crazies too!!

    YAY!, Pennsygal, great news.

Katy, I'll be there in your pocket, too. I promise not to make those noises.

Molly, so you like thundery stormy days, too? They invigorate me for some reason.

Beppy, I don't dare call my PS to ask why that's happening. If I did, I would probably see them cutting their eyes at each other on my follow up visit.

Lucy, that is one cute little boy with such pretty eyes.

Everyone have a beautiful day today.

thanks for the fun welcomes -- Wonderful pics Ducky -- my bf's lovely dad recently turned 90. When she asked if he wanted an afternoon tea at her place, he replied 'NO! I want an evening party with drinks!!' And it was a blast. 4 generations of friends and family. QMC - if I played jello shots for every time DT says 'disgusting' I'd be checking into Betty Ford ... no no no!!

Good news. A little infiltration of fatty liver, but nothing seriously bad. But that does not necessarily explain the elevated LE. So we are all bored with this project now. Nobody knows why and I'm not inclined to keep getting stuck every 30 days. So I'm going to get on with IT. Check back in 90 days. Thanks everyone so much for the support!
