Katy, good news!!

Phoebe: we could all do with more people like BF's dad in our lives. My neighbor (91, female, widow) is of that general temperament. And she is very much part of my life.

Katy - So glad you are able to put the liver issue aside for a while. Now, please go out and have a bit of fun on the beach with Jack.
Beppy - I think of you often each day. I hope you're healing quickly and painlessly. BTW My sister's lung surgery is Monday. She's going in with good spirits, much to my amazement. Her pancreas "spot" turned out to be malignant, but they think it is the slow-growing type and leaving it alone for now.
All those heart tests showed no problems. So now on to my tummy. Ultra sound Friday. See MO again next Wednesday. Then I'm running away from home.
Welcome to all the new sisters. I'm sending out fresh strawberries from a little farm in central California valley. You might need to stand over the kitchen sink to eat them. Juicy, oh my yes they are.

Katy, so glad to hear good news! I've been checking in all day. I wonder if your liver is still ticked off about the Tamoxifen. Our bodies are a mystery sometimes.

Oh, Katy, that is great news.
Jan, I'll be thinking of you when you go for your tests, and I may see you out there, somewhere, because I might run away, too. Praying for your sister, too. And, I love strawberries very much.
My friend passed away today. I can't believe it.

((((Lisa)))) I am so sorry about your friend. Jan, in your pocket for your tests. Juicy strawberries yummy

Lisa- so very sad about your friend. I'm sorry and sending you a warm hug and special thoughts for you and the family. 🙏🏻
JAN- my turn to jump in your pocket now.
Thank you all so much for your good wishes. Of course, the universe couldn't just let me have a 100% nice day and my car acted up big time on my way home. I called my mechanic who I trust very much and he told me to turn around and bring the car right then. Good thing as it appears I could have damaged the catalytic converter had I driven it more. He drove me the 40 miles home in his truck. We talked gardening and composting and fresh bread on the way home. I gave him my copy of a composting book and a veggie garden in small spaces book and a few packets of seed. Then started a loaf of bread for him and his wife to give them when they deliver my car back. Amazing people. Think i'll throw in a bottle Of my homemade organic limoncello for good measure.
I was pretty lucky, considering how unlucky. If you know what I mean.

duckyb, I remember you mentioned trigger thum/ fingers. What did it initially feel like? I woke up this morning with a very stiff right thumb. I've only been on exemestane for a week so I am waiting to see how I tolerate it.
0 -
I had trigger thumb twice. First time, it was my thumb snapping or clicking when I flexed it. Got a cortisone shot which took care of it for 3 years. Second time it hurt like hell and I had to use my othe hand to move it back. Had the tendon-release surgery which worked perfectly. No recurrence yet, but I've only been on letrozole 4 months
0 -
Thank you, Sandy. It's a bit better so I am guessing this is the exemestane doing its number on my joints.
0 -
My hand surgeon explained that trigger finger is a knot developing on the tendon, which catches on the tendon sheath rather than moving smoothly beneath it during flexion & extension. Risk factors are age, obesity, being female, diabetes and hormonal changes (hello, Exemestane et al). If it's smaller and soft-ish, the cortisone shot dissolves the sclerosed nodule. If the shot doesn't help, the surgical solution is a little slit lengthening the opening of the sheath, like a slit in a skirt, so the tendon moves smoothly once again. It has the lowest risk-to-benefit ratio of any surgery other than a tooth extraction. It is done under local or regional anesthesia (with an IV tranquilizer if you want), and the sutures are few and can be removed in a week or so. Since too many shots could dissolve the tendon and not just the nodule, they prefer surgery for a recurrence

Flowers for my crazies today

Katy: I can smell them from here.

Molly......I sent you a PM.............yes I had trigger thumbs and fingers.......I tolerated it, and found it more of an annoyance then painful.........the flex thing yes, using your other hand to bring them back to position, yes........but it did go away without taking any action for it........hope yours does too

Mine was caused by the Femara/Letrozole.......it is one of the SE's

katy, love your flowers, wish i was better at growing things
Hanging in today, have a luncheon date tomorrow with client from my old job. Last time we got together she wanted my experience with figuring out medicare, she had decided I was an expert. Funny really , wonder what is up now, sure would hate to think she wanted info on cancer junk

Katy - great news and lovely flowers!

Katy, Those flowers make such a yummy picture. Thanks for sharing. I hope your car is an easy fix.
Beppy, Hugs and strawberry shortcake arriving via the tube. Grab a napkin, it could get messy.
When I was dx with triple negative BC, I thought I was in real trouble since there are no drugs to help prevent recurrence. But I have since figured out that I was actually lucky. Those drugs most of you have to take cause so many side effects. Sending soothing healing for sore, painful hands and other problems you have to endure.
I hope all midwestern sisters are safely tucked in away from tornados. Jan

Congrats on the good news Katy and I love love the flowers.
Jan69 so glad you mentioned about the hormonals I am so worried I won't have anything fighting for me, due to being TN. But I was on tamoxifen when it was 'experimental" with my first breast cancer 24 years ago. It was a horrid beast.

Katy awesome flowers you are so creative . Arranged so naturally and perfect. Who would have thought the combo went well. Except a natural.
Lucky pepole to have them near to you. So cool seeing examples of caring. It warms the heart.
Happy for your better news.

Hi Crazies!
Yay for good news Katy!
I am too exhausted from having fun to write much, but here are a few pics until I can get my act together to write more: real al pastor on a spit (and note the bike parked outside: biggest change in Mexico City in the past twenty years since I was last there: lots of people riding bikes....a good thing). Anyway real al pastor. and the end result, taco with al pastor, pineapple, cilantro, pico de gallo and a relish guayaba soda. Can't top that light dinner for 40 pesos ($2.30)!
And a few to show why we were too tired for more than a taco or two: walked a whole lot touring Teotihuacan. Our guide says that the latest theory is that the pyramids were made to model the surrounding mountains. My photo of the pyramid of the Moon illustrates this, I believe....Edited to change it from Pyramid of Sun to Pyramid of the moon. Which I think is right. Told you I was tired...

all right, trying again on the Pyramid...

JAN, in your pocket for your tests! I'm glad to hear your heart tests came out well. Prayers for your sister, too.
Octogirl, on my little tablet, that first picture looked like a very bright orange carrot, with the tree above it for a top! Those tacos look delicious.

Sandy, How is your friend doing?
Hope all the quiet crazies are doing well. Waving to all of you!!
I spent the day cleaning up my bill mess. I paid all of the bills the day before surgery and for some reason there were bills I thought I paid that I didn't. I sent the wrong amount to a few places too. What a mess I made. Can I blame this one on chemo brain?? I found an interesting article about anesthesia. I always wonder why some of us have the same symptoms even when some haven't had chemo. I know we talked about PTSD. This may be another explanation.
I've really missed you all and it's SO good to be back!! Sleep well wonderful crazies!!
Love to all....quiet crazies too.

Wow, Octo--can I teleport to where you're staying? It's in the 40s and stormy here.
Good news about my friend--her BMX went smoothly. Nodes all negative (0/2 on one side, 0/3 on the other). Still waiting for the final path report, but if it is indeed pure DCIS in the left and pure ADH on the right, that's it as far as treatment: no rads, chemo, or hormone therapy (she's ER/PR-). Heaven forfend there's any invasive disease, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. She starts PT/OT tomorrow. (And her surgeon says I needn't be too worried about my own early LE, just be prudent about extremes of heat & altitude and take infection precautions. She wasn't going to put the forms in the Amoena zip-front drain-pouch camisole they're sending her home in Fri., until the nurse-navigator told her she should use them for cushioning the sore spots over her incisions. For the first time she's going to experience having a silhouette--ironic that it would take losing her actual breasts to accomplish that. I'm also going to get trained in drain care tomorrow. Her pain is manageable--they discontinued the IV, she's eating & drinking normally again, and they're giving her DIlaudid BID and one or two 5/325 Norco q 3-4 hr PRN.
Bob's down here with me at the hotel in Oak Lawn the next two nights (dinner tomorrow night at Cooper's Hawk). Ultimately, as her primary it's up to him when to discharge her.

Slow- just live your dance moves, hahaha.
I dreamt up this little concoction for the tree house. No chocolate or sprinkles, but packs some beauty and levity into a small package. I call it "Snowball in a Shotglass"
