Welcome to this Crazy Town Fraidycat! Just remember to breathe before you panic.. That was my thought just before more testing.

Welcome, 'fraidycat! Yikes, you did have lots of positive nodes too, eh? I guess even with that many, my own treatment team is so bored with me, I guess they think I'll live!
Molly, I think of you every day! And when I break down and (probably) have to get a NEW phone, cause I usually get a used one, then I hope to call you, and hopefully come see you, or you come see me! Almost done with bath remodeling work I am helping my man with.
Ducky, Bobby's eyes are AMAZING!
...more later, man is getting impatient with me

Welcome Fraidycat.............your gonna love it here.................will send my official greeting a bit later....LO

Anytime, Tomboy! I am killing time waiting for Wyatt's appointment to have his feeding tube replaced.

Ducky, your family has cute kids deep in its DNA. I don't know which of the boys is more gorgeous!
Waving at all crazies, noisy and quiet....

Finally got my port removed yesterday, had been afraid to get it out, superstitious I guess. Now to just go through the healing part!
Slow, wherever you are, hope you are doing something awesome! Thinking about you.
Best to everybody, and have a great weekend!

Hi Crazies!
I missed you all very much. What a crazy adventure my DH and I had. We are home now because of a few unexpected things that happened at home during our trip. Unfortunately, we had to cut the trip short. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, but to be honest, my body was giving out from all the time in the car. We spent about 14 to 16 hours driving daily. I still wouldn't trade the time we spent out on the road. The harsh reality did come rushing in as soon as we were home though. Treatment decisions are looming. I'm glad I was able to chuck it in the *uckit bucket for awhile!!
I spent a few hours with my Aunt in Harrisburg, PA. She really wanted us to stay over, but our time was so limited. Next, I saw Ducky and Shorfi!! What a great few hours that turned out to be. Next was our Blondie. I promised her I would meet her in person someday, and I was so glad I was able to fulfill that promise. I got a few short, wonderful hours with her as well. The next day we drove in to see my hometown. I actually got to eat New York pizza and have a Carvel ice cream cone!! The afternoon was spent with Rainy in a cozy little tea shop in Brooklyn. We had a lovely chat and the time flew by. Then we were off to Wisconsin to visit my niece, her DH and boys. I've missed them all so much. By the time we got there, I was convinced I had brain mets. My headache on the left side had gotten so bad it was making me nauseous and my DH had to do most of the driving that day. We decided to take a few days to rest before heading out on the road again. Thankfully, my headache got better.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Jackbirdie. That was the most disappointing part of the whole trip. My DH promised me we would make a special trip just to see her in the next couple of months. He NEVER breaks his promise, so I feel fairly certain I will see her!!
QM, I'm sorry we didn't get to see you too. It would have been so nice to meet!!! Our trip didn't take us through Michigan. Even the states we did drive through, we only saw through our car window. I think anyone considering a trip like the one we did should allow at least a couple of months. But seriously, who has that much time?
I feel so honored to have met each one of the ladies. They are all exactly as they are here in Crazy Town. All beautiful, smart women with so much to offer. I will treasure the time spent with them for the rest of my life.
I've got a lot of catching up to do this weekend. I'm anxious to catch up on what's been happening with all of you.
I will post some pictures as soon as I get them all off of my phone and camera. Thank you for taking this adventure with me. There isn't a day that went by that I didn't think of all of you. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this thread and thank each one of you for all you share.
Love to all....quiet crazies too.

We love you!! I hope your day was wonderful!!

Welcome, Fraidycat! Happy birthday, Jan! And Beppy, hope we can meet when you head east again!

Beppy! Glad you are home safe and sound, but sorry you had to cut it short. Looking forward to pictures. And, drats!, you now have to face some very hard decisions. Remember what I told you before your trip... My family doesn't make a fuss over birthdays, well adult birthdays anyway. Thanks for the flowers, cake (way too cute!) and good wishes. At my age, I'm just glad to have lived another year.
Our hot dry California is trying to burn up. A fire not too far from here burned at least 80 homes overnight, and the fire is still raging. This is just one in California. And the East is flooding and killing people. Such heart breaking devastation on both coasts.
Thinking of the community of crazies tonight. I hope you are all safe, pain free, and have something to smile about. Jan

Beppy/SlowDeepBreaths: I am so glad you got this road trip! So glad, even if (sulks for about .00002 seconds) we didn't get to meet--in fairness, you didn't know where in Michigan I lived! But yeah, were I to do a similar road trip, I'd figure out how to take about three times as long as you did....and I haven't quite the same issue of mets as you do.
Pictures when you're got them uploaded. Test dates (and results) when you have them. Because of course we're going to be in your pocket just as you've been in ours simply by creating this forum.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! This is an unbelievable place. I was in crazy town at about 4:00am last night and it was such a relief to see your posts.
Beppy, you have created a magical thing. I pray your doctors work some magic too! You made me tired just thinking about all your driving. I am so glad you got to see Blondie!

Iris, sounds as if things went well. Look forward to more news.
West coast crazies, reading about the wildfires and thinking of you. Are any of you close by?

Welcome, Fraidcat!
Iris, I'm glad to hear you liked your neurologist. I hope he helps you find some answers.
Happy belated birthday JAN, and stay safe up there!
Italychick, congrats on having the port removed. I think I would feel superstitious, too. I hope it feels more like a step toward putting treatment behind you, though.
Ducky, it sounds like you are on a grand tour of the shore homes! It sounds like so much fun.
Beppy, I'm glad to hear you had a good time on your trip, and wish you had felt better and been able to make it longer. You definitely have to get up to see Katy.
Molly, Happy Birthday to Wyatt!
Tomorrow I go for my dermatology appointment. I have wished I had been more proactive with my breast cancer risk. Sure, I went for mammograms every year from the time I was 27, but I wished I'd done more research and possibly pushed for ultrasounds. So I've decided to have all my moles and freckles checked out and ask about a couple of spots I'm concerned about. Then on Tuesday I go to my oncologist to get the results of my latest blood tests and find out whether my estradiol is low enough that I can start the AI or not yet. Between these two appointments, I have been a nervous wreck all weekend.

Cubbie..in your pocket for your dermatologist and onc appointment.. Last year I insisted the doctors take a mole off me.even though they said it was O.K. . It ended up being fine , but it was definately darker than other moles in the area..

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It's a really low key event in my family, so wishes from my Crazies are extra special.
Fires around here. The current big one is about 75 miles (as the crow flies) south east of us. A So Cal fire is fairly close to DDs 1 & 2. All outdoor activities had to be suspended. Sky was red and ashes were raining down. Very unhealthy. We don't normally hear any air traffic, so when those fire fighting helicopters fly overhead, we nearly panic. Sometimes they swoop down and load up water from our pond. You may have read or heard on the news about our incredible pine tree loss. Estimates that between 80 to 90% of our trees are dead or soon will be. So very sad. The trees are mostly 100 feet tall and are a danger of falling on the roads, people's homes or power lines. They are also a huge fire danger too. The industry of our area used to be logging, but that was mostly halted 20 years ago. This year, the industry is chopping down trees. Need a job? You could be hired on the spot. Instead of hearing birds chirping, the only sound we hear is chain saws. Off my soapbox....
I'm in my sewing-quilts-mode right now. Will finish a black & white with red accents one today. Eager to get started on another "art" quilt. It's too hot to do anything else.
Hoping everyone is have a restful Sunday. Jan

Cubbie, I'm with you, I have an appointment in two weeks for the dermatologist to remove a spot I don't like. He said it was nothing, but I don't care, I want it whacked off. I stripped naked (nod shame left) and had him check me head to toe about two months ago.
Jan, so sorry about the fires and the pine trees. A fire in San Diego within the past few years came a couple of blocks from our house, the air was nasty and everything was covered with ash that looked like it had snowed. I hope they get stuff under control soon.
Proudtospin, scotch coming your way! I'm a whiskey gal myself

I need to get a referral to a derm as well. I have some moles that worry me and my genetic risk is a tad higher than normal for melanoma. My BFF's mom's house and car burned down in the Lake Isabella fire. Fortunately mom has been down here with her daughter since having a stroke about a month ago. Who would have ever thought they'd be thankful for a stroke!

Molly, Sorry about your BFF's mom's home. I have friends there and I haven't been able to talk to them to see how they are doing. She's a teacher at the school that became the evacuation center.

Prayers going out for the safety of those in the paths of or endangered by those wildfires. I get tornado nightmares, even though they’re pretty rare in the city or close-in suburbs, and I imagine if I lived in the SW I’d have even worse (and justified) ones about forest fires.
Good call on going to the derm. My little cutaneous MRSA episode aside (seems to have resolved, knock wood), had I not gone for my skin exam that pre-melanoma might have crossed the line before it was discovered and excised.
Backslid last night. Was somewhat sleep-deprived (have to stay up very light so Bob can change my back bandage post-shower) yesterday because I had to get up early so Bob could make his dental appt. and I could get some breakfast into me and the car loaded in time to get to Bartlett by noon for setup & sound-check. The festival was running nearly an hour late, so I got home an hour later than I’d expected--too late in the day for a siesta. Ate some insalata Caprese for late lunch. Had to eat alone (Bob & Gordy working late)--I grilled a pork chop and ate out on the deck, watching the fireflies and the planes coming in. After my shower & bandage change, I stayed up late purging some stuff off my DVR’s hard drive. Went to sleep, but was awakened a couple hours later by Bob’s snoring. So I went downstairs, had two bowls of Special K (major cheat for me) and skim milk, took another 1/4 mg. of Xanax, watched some more TV and hit the sack...awakened an hour later by a vicious tibial charley horse. Walked it off, went back to sleep....and when I woke up it was after 3pm! Had late lunch of a veggie omelet and coffee. Bob says he’ll be home late again tonight, so I will probably defrost some salmon (cook it inside--it seems to stick to the grill no matter what I do) and eat it about 9 pm. Hope to try to get to sleep at a normal hour.

DS just picked up his daughter at the airport - gonna be a short and busy 3 weeks.
Heading up on Weds.

Gma, you have a good looking family. Enjoy the visit. Sandy, your life is such an adventure! Enjoy your salmon.

Cubbie, in your pocket!
Molly, very sorry about your BFF's Mom's home. Those fires are so scary (and fortunately for me, quite a long ways from here. Though something similar could definitely happen up here as well).
Around here, not too much going on except that it is HOT. Triple digits all week!
Sandy, I can't imagine sleeping that late. Actually, I am jealous: I rarely sleep well when it is hot.
Hubby and I plan to escape the heat Fourth of July weekend with a quick trip to the coast. It was supposed to also be an opportunity to visit my sister, but we just found out that she is going into a rehab facility for at least a month (may be more), beginning Tuesday...and the best one available is south of here in the Central Valley. Not very close to her home, and not all that close to me either, but supposedly it is a top notch place. I am planning to take a quick trip to visit her on Wednesday. Physically she is doing much better, but her short term memory loss continues to be a big issue.
Sending hugs to all, quiet crazies also, as our dear Mayor would say!
xoxo

Charles Pelkey - I once PM'd you about your bicycle column (my coworker just brought it up and I recognized your name - he and I always discussed TdF). Anyway, I am also BRCA2+ and interested in this high risk pancreatic cancer screening that you get. My MO mentions nothing about pancreatic cancer. Can you enlighten me?
