JAN, I waited several days to talk to Bep after she got home, not knowing exactly what brought her back early. So when I finally got my new replacement phone for the one I had lost, I called her first! And she is resting, seemed in good spirits, and it just kills me: she asks after MY health, all the time! She sounded just great, and it was lovely to talk to her. And yesterday she texted me, and it was the first text I got! (I love her)!!! please don't worry, she will be here soon, i think

CT had me snarled up in traffic again. Things are going okay, so I am hoping to be here a bit more. Hubby finally was able to return to work on Wednesday.

I have heard from Beppy...she is taking it easy, just not posting right now.......... Love my Girlie......she will be back in a ;bit..............
Molly, Wyatt "God love him) is such a handsome lad........so great to see him happy, and what thoughtful friends he has.........
Friday.....your grandaughter is so sweet, and must say you look great..........hope you feel as good as you look

Down the shore with my daughter, and my grandaughter........spending time with Bobby too.....what a sweetheart.........Right now in Sea Isle City, but will be moving on to Margate tomorrow night.....my other daughter is picking me up to take me to her house where I will spend all of next week...........
Walked too much yesterday, have a couple blisters......possibly no beach not taking the change of getting an infection.....so angry with myself for trying to keep up, rather then say "I can't walk that far, but this daughter pressures me a lot........when I was sitting last night she said "you should be walking around when your sore you have to continue walking............Told her "button it, if I could walk I would".
My 2 grandsons are coming from Chicago to the Margate house, and the one grandsons wife.....can't wait to see them........0 -
Tomboy, Thanks for the info re Beppy. I was able to contact her and we are having lunch on Tuesday with Poppy! Yes, she is super special.
Ducky, Thanks also. Your time at the shore sounds absolutely heaven (minus the blisters). Some of the best summers of my life were spent at my brothers place at the Hamptons. Well, I love Hawaii too.
Rain, I can't believe you have cucumbers already! I live in sunny, HOT California and my cucumber plants are just being lazy. Not one single cuke yet. Enjoy your crop.
I mixed up bran muffins yesterday. I need to go bake them for breakfast. This old lady needs her bran.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe weekend. Jan

thanks for your thoughts and prayers
Yeap waiting the weekend to actually talk to a doc is annoying. Had my bloody Mary and now realize why I gave up drinking hard liquor, tummy really does not like it, gonna stick with wine
The storms are over but rainny, your name describes last night! Glad I was not driving

Jan, I've decided it is too hot for cucumbers! Mine never did take off this year....
Wish I could join the SoCal girls for lunch. Give them a hug for me.
Hugs all around!

I got a text from Beppy! God love her, she always asks about Wyatt's health. We got a break from the heat but the humidity moved in. Yuck, thank God for air conditioning. Duckyb, I love your family. They truly seem to value your company.

Was happy to not have to water the garden this morning

Hi Molly.............thanks...love my family............
Here is a picture of my 15 year old grandaugher Makayla......she is down with my daughter helping her with Bobby while "her" daughter (Bobby's Mom) is in Rhode Island for a wedding....that is where I am now.....will vacate to Margate with my daughter Michele tomorrow night for another week........

Ducky, get some of those Compeed (or store-brand generic) waterproof gel blister bandages and put them on pronto, before the blisters burst. (If they already have, wash & dry thoroughly and then apply the bandages). They come in various shapes (for soles, back of heels, bunions, even little bitty ones for toes). I blister at the drop of a...shoe, and those bandages really do the trick. Keep them on until they fall off, and replace if the blister’s still there. I sometimes put them on if I know I’ll be wearing shoes that tend to give me “hot spots."

Molly, how cool that the teen group came over for Wyatt's birthday!
Fraidycat, it looks like your grandson is going to be a redhead. He does look a little like Charlie Brown. So cute!
Iris, of course they decide to tell you you need see someone else right before the holiday weekend. It's too bad that the doctor you liked so much is moving to another state.
JAN, glad to hear you are having lunch with Beppy and Poppy, sounds like fun!
Ducky, I agree you should take it easy on those blisters. They need time to heal up. Just have a seat and enjoy the view (when it isn't storming).
I got a call back from the dermatologist office yesterday, all my moles were benign, no further excision needed. It looks like marinating in sunblock for the last 20 years is paying off for me. I've got some relatives I haven't seen in five years in town, and I'm trying to put together a medical family history this weekend. Not the most cheery topic, but I suppose it has to be done.

Today for me a trip through CrazyTown that was (thankfully) both brief and clearly attributable to another cause: a sudden inflammation on my elbow this morning, whilst sitting quietly at my computer. NO, thankfully, it's not elbow cancer!
After a bout with erysipelas, of unknown etiology, last October, I tend to be more than a little jumpy about sudden rashes, skin inflammations and the like, but this time, there's a clear skin break consistent with an insect of unknown origins getting jiggy with my personal parts. NOt to mention an approximately circular area of redness and some serious itching.
But yeah...where does my brain go? (in chorus now)

kwilcockson, pepper43, rvgirl2016, Fraidycat1954, Quinncat.....Welcome to Crazy Town!!
I'm so happy you found us!! Please pull up a chair and make yourself comfy. Sorry for the delayed welcome, I've been traveling and it took awhile to recuperate. You'll love the women and the one man (hi Charles) here. There may be more men that are quiet crazies, but so far they haven't revealed themselves. Everyone here is so supportive and helpful. You are not alone.
Stephanie, Such a pleasure to see you here!! Welcome!
I hope you got the answer to your question.
Poppy, Happy anniversary!! I can't remember if I acknowledged the day, so this is just in case I missed it. Your DH's birthday cake cracked me up!! It's nice to know my family isn't the only goofy family out there!!
M0mmy, I would have loved to meet you too. I really hope I get to make another go around sometime in the near future. Great news about your hubby returning to work. It's always nice to see you. Sending a hug for the official hugger.
Twinnie, We have crazy traffic too. Although, I must admit, the New York City traffic and Illinois traffic seemed pretty bad to me. I don't think I'll ever complain about our CA traffic again.
Octo, I was sorry to read about your family member. Stinkin' cancer. Hugs to you! Going to visit Lucy??? I want to go!! Maybe I can hitch a ride on someone's cruise ship because we all know flying is not an option for me. CrAzY airplane lady alert. How is your break from the AI going? Are you getting any relief? That's too bad your DH won't do the U.S. trip. Can you imagine a U.S. trip with all the crazies? Now that would be a hoot!! Rent a big RV and have my DH drive us from place to place once he retires. Listen to me making all these plans for us all. I hope you enjoy your weekend on the coast. I also wish you could join us for lunch!
Sandy, The sign wasn't from Michigan because we didn't drive through that state. I think it was in Missouri. I'm sorry I missed you in Chicago!! Perhaps on my second go around. I'd like to do it again when my DH retires and we have more time. What's up with you, dear sister? MRSA and cataracts?? You sure have A LOT going on! Yay for good mammo results!
Pennsy, I'm glad you're getting some relief from your AI break. Being TN I'm not a candidate for the AI's, but like Poppy, I've read on the boards that switching brands can sometimes help. I think you're right about the Lupus though. I bet it does contribute.
Italy, Isn't Utah beautiful? I've been to Salt Lake City before but we never drove through Provo. It's such a stunning drive. Congratulations on the port removal!!! I hope your spot removal goes well at the derm. Count me in for whiskey. Heck, I'll take the Vodka and Scotch too!!
Cubbie! Yay for good blood results!! I was happy to read the derm appointment went well!! Thank goodness for B9 biopsy results!!
QM, "I'd go into your bathroom with hairspray and a rolled-up copy of the European Vogue any day." hahahahaha. That sure gave me a good chuckle. I'm so glad you don't have elbow cancer!! Jiggy with your personal parts?? Oh my!! Good luck with that. You are definitely in my thoughts!!
Smurfette, Eli is precious. I love his smile!! The winter kangaroo picture was awesome.
Robin, I hate that blasted rabbit hole!! I know for a fact the padded rooms at the Crazy Town Inn are very comfortable. Big, gentle hugs to you. Sometimes it's good to chuck it all in the *uckit bucket for awhile. I hope the break from it all will restore some sanity. Effexor was also suggested for me. Listening to your story, I'm glad I declined. Sending snacks minus the Ativan sprinkles your way.
Molly, Great news on the mammo results. A big sigh of relief I'm sure. Hug that sweet boy of yours for me! Surgery coming up this month? Let us know when so we can jump in your pocket. I'm sorry to hear about your BFF's mom. Happy Birthday to Wyatt!! I'm glad he enjoyed his party. Thank you for sharing his picture here.
Iris, I hate trying to interpret test results. It all reads like a bunch of gibberish to me. I'm glad the neuro doc was more thorough than the spine doc. Neuro doc moving to CA? I guess you'll have to follow!?! Sorry about the results. More waiting just stinks. I'll have a Bloody Mary with you. One should never drink alone!
Valstim, It's good to see you posting again. If I'm ever in NC, I will definitely let you know. Coincidentally, I have a long time friend that moved to NC recently, as well as a cousin and an indirect family member by marriage. If you ever find yourself in CA, let us know and we will gather the CA crazies together in your honor.
Shorfi, So good to see you again! Did you get a new car?? What kind did you get?? I LOVE the new car smell. I really enjoyed the time we spent together. The time went by way too quickly for my liking. I hope you come to CA someday. Maybe a road trip for you and Ducky???
GMA, That's a real bummer about your son only getting three weeks with his DD. I can't believe how much she has grown over the past few years. It must be so difficult not getting to see her often. Hopefully the EXDIL will get a NEW boyfriend!! Enjoy your time together. You have a beautiful family!
Ducky, I wish I could have seen Bobby when I was there!! What a delightful little guy. Just one squeeze would have held me for months!! haha I WANT grandbabies!!! Thanks for sharing all of the family pictures. I enjoyed them all! I love a spirited child. Lila sounds like so much fun. hehe Enjoy your time at the shore!
Jan, So good to see you posting. I'm so sorry if I've caused you any concern. Just remember I'm like a Timex watch. I take a licking and keep on ticking!! Seriously though, I am so excited to see you!! I hope I can sleep these next couple of days with all the excitement. Safe travels!! I hope you post pictures of your new quilts. I love to see the pictures.
Fraidycat, I'm glad our antics help ease your stress. I've found distraction is such good medicine for all the craziness. I'm glad you're here with us. You're never alone in Crazy Town. I am in full agreement with you, Tomboy is amazing and one of the kindest people I know. Be on the alert for her subtle humor. I'm another iodine and baby oil gal. Who knew back then what we were doing to our bodies? I enjoyed the picture of you and your grandson. Thank you for sharing it with us!! I love his red hair. He is adorable. Grandma is a pretty lady.
Tomboy, I'm glad your treatment team thinks you will live. hahaha So much better than the alternative. Yay for the new phone!! I know you've been working hard. I can't tell you how good it feels to know you're involved in a project. I hope you're not hurting too much. I prescribe bubble baths for all the aches and pains. Don't go crazy with the bubbles though. No shopkins in the bath....they could clog the drain.
Quinncat, I'm not sure how often Charles reads this thread. I hope you were able to get a hold of him. I remember he didn't pop in too often when he posted on another thread. Best wishes to you.
Here is my question for all the travelers out there. What's with all the toll roads in PA, NJ, NY, IL and a few other states? I've never seen so many tolls in my life. I know people complain about how expensive it is to live in CA, but good grief, how do people afford to go to work every day with all those tolls? Not to mention the time it took us to stop at all the booths. It wasn't until after our trip that we found out we could have paid online without stopping. DUH!!
It took me A LOT of time to recuperate after this trip. My body seemed to take on the shape of a car seat. Lots of craziness going on with this body of mine. I'm curious to find out what this new scan will reveal. If history repeats itself, feeling lousy will mean no cancer progression. It's seems to progress when I'm feeling really good. How's that for crazy?
QM, Since you asked......I've got a pre-op appointment on the 5th of July, a CT scan on the 7th of July and a port surgery on the 11th of July. As always, I'm hopeful for good CT scan results!! They had me scheduled to start chemo on the 6th, but I think I will wait until I'm all healed from the port surgery. This is my first port. My treatment three years ago, including a year of Herceptin, was done without a port. Any port tips out there? Blondie told me about a good port thread. Hopefully I can find it and educate myself.
I haven't had a chance to organize trip pictures yet. I really need to get my act together.
BTW, if anyone here would like to join us for lunch on Tuesday, please send me a PM, email, or a text. The more the merrier!!
I've missed you all so much. It's has taken me forever to catch up. Wishing you all a great holiday weekend, free from all pain and craziness.
Love to all....quiet crazies too!!

Slow, so glad to hear from you! Hubby and I do a big road trip every few years, and I come home exhausted, but glad I did it. Then it takes me a few years to forget how tiring it is and I sign up and do another one.
As for the port, mine was no big deal, and I even have heard of women who go straight from port placement to chemo. It was sore for about a week, but I was back out riding my bike two days after it was put in. Scared, but I rode. After a week or two, I didn't even remember it was there, and if you recall, I posted very early on this forum that one night I was running my hand across my chest and thought it was another lump! Some women do have problems with their port, but mine never failed me in the entire year of infusions and blood draws. I kept mine four months after last use, and finally got it out because I was assured if I ever need it again they can put another one back in. The superstitious Sicilian in me was afraid to remove it, that I would jinx myself. My oncologist had a stern talk with me and I scheduled and cancelled the removal before I finally got the nerve to get it out.
Best of luck sweet sister, and know I am pulling for you! Please post you CT results, etc. I think about you all the time.

Beppy, we’re all breathing a big deep sigh of relief to see you posting again. In your pocket for the port placement and the lung resection. As to the tollways, it seems that state gov’ts are so afraid of raising taxes that they’d rather raise revenue by raising tolls (and on one expressway here that’d previously been free, they installed a “cashless tolling” wicket--it either charges your iPass--aka EZPass--transponder or snaps a pic of your license plate and gives you a week to pay the “sucker rate,” i.e., what the coin-tossers w/o transponders have to pay). About 10 years ago they instituted electronic tolling--we who registered and keyed the transponders to our credit cards or bank accounts got to pay normal toll rates, but the tolls then in force were doubled for everyone else. Most regular users of these roads here have bought transponders by now, so the "iPass-only lanes" don’t move any faster than the actual manned tollbooths--which are being eliminated anyway. So there go the lousiest jobs in IL that don’t involve waste management.
My MRSA was superficial and cutaneous, and according to my derm this week, it’s history. Whew! I can go into swimming pools again without being a disease vector. Cataracts, not so lucky--I have an eye surgeon appt. a week from Tues. but even if I get one done that week, I won’t have enough time to recover before getting on that plane to Rome. I think you have to go at least 2-3 weeks before you dare risk air pressure changes. So I’ll just have to drive extra-carefully (and as little as possible) through Tuscany at night.
Mon. was our official 45th anniv., but tonight was the party. 17 of us descended upon Broadway Cellars for food, drinks and friendship. The owners have been our friends now for almost 10 years and they are wonderful people. We had a great time, and by now I think I can finally get to sleep without GERD setting in.
Molly, Lori--in your pockets, too. (They ought to put pockets on hospital gowns).

slow, so good to hear from you again, do hope the next round of treatment goes well
I decided that I am going to talk to a pal of mine who recently did back suegery, i remember she had done lots of research on docs and believes best docs are trained at columbia. So gonna get her thoughts. I have a name of a doc from the spine guy but will feel better once I get more names. Got a wicked headache this morn and I rarely get headaches so that freaks me big time

Beppy! So good to see you here. CT is not the same without you. I am so excited that you get to see Jan! My surgery is 7/22 at 7:30 am. I go for pre op at the hospital this Friday. I need to get my blood work, chest x-ray and ekg done. I couldn't get any direction from either of my doctors staff so I am stopping exemestane two weeks ahead of surgery. I have seen other women being told to do that.
Iris, where in CA is your neuro moving to? Hugs to anyone I missed.

I may not post much but I love this thread.
Duckyb I want to be you when I grow up. Cubbie your avatar makes me smile everytime I see it. Molly and Wyatt hugs and you are an inspiration. Beppy, I so appreciated your welcome and to all others, I'm waving from hot furnace NC.,
The temps match my skin. I had #7 of 33 rads last week. I'm slowly cooking.

Beppy I promise if I get to CA I want to meet you all. My DH is a serious driver and he will take me all over the state if necessary. Same here, if any of you come near let me know, and the red carpet will be out!!

Welcome home, GmaFoley!
Languid and warm tonight (warmer than this afternoon), punctuated by the sound of DIY fireworks. We might take the CTA up to see the Evanston display tomorrow night. Not sure how close we’ll be able to get, but certainly closer than we’d be able to park! Or maybe we’ll just walk over to the beach and look north and south.
Four years ago I had a daytime gig in Madison, WI on the 4th. I was driving home listening to the E Street Channel on XM. As the sun began to set I crossed the state line back into IL--and watched small town after small town shooting off their fireworks displays. As I passed a pretty good one in Elgin, on came “4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy).” How wild is that? As I got back into the city, the smell and haze of gunpowder (the good kind) permeated the night air.

Hi Crazies!
Italy, Thank you for the information regarding the port. Did you have it placed in your chest? I've heard of some having it placed in their arm. It seems like the arm would be more convenient when it comes to bra straps. I do remember that story about you thinking it was another lump. hahahaha Thank you so much for the well wishes.
Sandy, Thank you for the encouragement. I already had the lung resection back in April. Unfortunately, they are telling me I have a new mass in the same lung along with a rib met. I'm still not convinced that is the case, which is why I'm having another scan on Thursday. I want confirmation that what they are seeing wasn't caused by the surgery. They also found a new nodule on the right lung. I'm glad the MRSA is history. That's some nasty stuff. Happy anniversary to you and your DH! Forty five years is a long time.
Iris, Thank you for the good wishes. I'm glad you have a friend that can guide you to a good doctor. I hope your headache is feeling better today.
Molly, Thank you so much for your kind words!! I miss you when you are away too. I wrote down the date of your surgery. I think my DH and I will be out of town that weekend, but I will make sure I check on you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly for you. Do you know how long you'll be in the hospital?
Valstim, Good luck with rads! I hope your skin holds up well. I did very well with rads and didn't have any skin issues. I was a nervous wreck before I started though. The only SE was a very slight pinkness at the very end. My RO told me to use nothing on my skin. Three years later, it looks very normal except it's now much smaller than the other one. I've got one perky girl and another that hangs down to my knees. I just throw it over my shoulder and carry on.
Ducky, I carry the dream catcher on my key-chain. In case you were wondering. Reminds me of you.
GMA, Welcome home! Can't wait to see your pictures. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your GD.
We had our older dog shaved today. He looks so funny with his body shaved and fuzzy head. My DH made homemade cookies and we had a visit from my nephew, his wife & their daughter. We were supposed to make Korean food tomorrow but my DH is feeling punky. I think we will eat out instead. My sister and son are coming too. DD is out of town for a wedding. Tuesday she gets the keys to her new apartment. It's only two miles from our house. I'm so excited!!
Happy 4th to all. Wishing you all a pain-free, fun day.
Love to all....quiet crazies too.
P.S. From left to right.....Adoptive mom, Ducky, Me and the lovely Shorfi!!
I miss them already.

slow, mine was in my chest. I worked with the port doctor to place it out of the way of bra straps. My bra never really bothered anything. I'm not sure about the arm ones, but check on both. Mine was placed about 4-5" below my collar bone.
Hoping the new mass is inflammation or scar tissue, fingers crossed, and toes too.

Great picture!! Duckyb, you are incredibly young looking! I am giggling over you throwing your boob over your shoulder, Beppy. I have one breast and one expander right now. I have to wear a bra or my soon to be removed breast looks much smaller thanks to it being saggy.
0 -
Slow, Fantastic to see you posting! You always include everyone. My chemo befuddled brain gets everything all mixed up! Before I forget, I want to recommend that you bring a pillow with you to your port placement. It puts some padding between the seat belt and your surgery site. My doctor takes care to avoid placing the port in an area where it would be in the way of our bras. I'll show you where my port was on Tuesday. Once the infection cleared, I loved my port. Only nurses with specialized training can access ports. I'm sure I'll think of other stuff.
Hi Crazies! I hope you all have a lovely holiday!
