PET Scan is tomorrow morning!!!!! Gonna stink not to have my morning coffee or anything to eat until after the test is done. It was so cool to watch my heart at work while they were doing my Echo via ultrasound.

Hubby called my mom yesterday after I let him know the Echo was done and she started in on him. She accused him of not caring about me or my health. He didn't even get upset, instead he calmly told her that what she wants done is not going to happen and hung up.

Got some really upsetting news yesterday from a high school buddy in Georgia. She and her kids lost everything in a fire, but they are okay otherwise. The neighbor who lives upstairs had left her kids home alone and they started the fire accidentally. My friend is trying to raise enough money just so she can get her kids clothes and shoes in time for them to start school in early August.

Yeah, it is. Wish I could help her with a bit of money but with my situation I can't do anything for her but pray that she is able to get some help getting the stuff she needs for the kids.

Mommy, you might want to encourage your friend to call the Red Cross. They help in big disasters and fires, but in my experience they also will help after an individual building or smaller fire. Years ago I lost my house to fire when the upstairs neighbor was smoking in bed and fell asleep... the Red Cross helped me with my immediate needs, including getting me a hotel room for a few nights, helping me find a new place to live, clothes, etc.

    ((((Iris))). Losing hair sucks.

My friend started a GoFundMe request to try and get some help. From what I have seen other people she knows are helping her too with this. Glad to see she has so many people that are doing what they can to help her.

Five years ago my housekeeper's house caught fire when flames from a crack house crossed the gangway. A baby died in the crack house (born on Mother's Day, died on Father's Day). My housekeeper had her three granddaughters visiting from AL, and they escaped with just their PJs, shoes, purses and one cell phone (she called me from across the street as the CFD was still fighting the fire). The Red Cross put them up at a Holiday Inn in Skokie for two weeks until her insurance company found her a fully furnished condo in another suburb—where she had to live for nearly a year while her house was rebuilt—interiors and the wall along the gangway. I had enough extra stuff (clothes, utensils, linens) to give her and went to Target to buy her the rest of what she needed. The crack house was condemned and demolished, after its denizens kept going back in through the boarded-up windows. An “urban pioneer" couple from adjacent Oak Park (where property taxes were getting out of hand) bought the lot, put up a new house and moved in. My housekeeper was trying for years to sell and move to my area, but now that her area is beginning to gentrify she's staying put till she retires and moves back to AL where she grew up.

Glad to hear the testing is over, M0mmy.

Sandy, you have your endoscopy this week, right?

I keep going around in circles in CrazyTown. They've been trying to adjust my blood pressure medication, and now I'm having trouble focusing my vision close up. I thought it was a side effect, but my doctor wants me to go see the ophthalmologist today. Plus, I have my annual physical today as well.

    Glad it went OK, M0mmy.

Got to see the opthalmologist and they said I have a bad case of dry eye, and I'm just getting old. Looks like I'll have to wear glasses to read all the time now. At least I got some drops for the dry eye so my eyes feel a bit better.

I took a nap after my last post on here. Just woke up about 10 minutes ago. Little sore but took Tylenol to help with it.

My hubby called my Mom on the way home from the hospital to let her know the port placement went well and she started again. I was so aggravated with her that I blew up and told her fine, I am no longer in control of my life, she gets what she wants but then she can live with the consequences for pushing what she wants on me. She started wither classic sarcastic comment of "Do what is best for you." My hubby jumped in and told Mom to back off and that we are doing what is best for me, which is going through the treatments.

Yup, getting ’scoped Thursday afternoon. NPO after midnight Wed. Meanwhile, after we went from 12kg to 20kg on the kettle-bell deadlift Sat., my lower back on my R side (which “went out” on me in Dec.) is threatening me again. Had to bow out of training today in favor of heating pad & stretches.

Did you know they have adorable and cheap reading glasses for less than $20 at Whole Foods? And Zenni.com has a whole bunch of them—single-vision prescription lenses included—for seven bucks. (Not a typo). You can make reading glasses a fashion accessory. Before I had my cataracts done, I even had a pair with built-in LED lights for reading low-contrast menus in dimly lit restaurants.

M0mmy, glad the port placement went well. Good for you and DH standing up to your mom! I give your DH kudos for calling her to report despite her attitude. Iris, hug hug hug. Cubbie, welcome to the world of reading glasses...sigh. Good luck on your scope, Sandy. Hi everyone especially our quiet ones. Love you all.

Proud:others' reaction to your baldness is not your expletive problem. Just saying. But rock the hat anyway. And the manicure. And I'm with you on needing a pair of reading glasses for every place and bag I might need such a thing.
