Iris, “you do you” and the heck with what anyone else might think. They probably wouldn’t notice anything but your lovely face and your cool hats—but if you think you look great no matter what, do what suits you.

well heading to a visit with the psychiatrist at the cancer center, hey they offered so i said yes

Bald head should be fine, got a ton of scarfs but in 90 degrees, not too comfie

Saw a pic online of a woman, bald, but with full makeup, i have not done makeup in ages and that would really feel wierd

A little sore this morning but doing okay. Using my left hand today. Watered my garden and flowers with my left and ran the vacuum with the left hand. Hubby gave me my orders to pretty much rest today, which I am doing

My problem with reading glasses is that I'm so small that children's glasses fit me better than adult glasses. The ones at drugstore are OK, but they dwarf my face and feel way too big. I'll probably get some kids glasses made up as readers.

My physical went OK, other than the blood pressure. It is coming down. I'm not sure how much is the medication and how much is the dietary changes I've made, but whatever works!

Just got some absolutely fantastic news from my friend whose family lost everything in the house fire. As of last night, they now have a new place to live!!!!! They are in the process of getting the rest of the stuff they need to start getting back to some sense of normalcy. My nightly prayers for her and her family were answered

This re-affirms my faith that when things are absolutely terrible, that a few generous souls will move mountains to help someone when they need it.

M0mmy, proof that where there's a will there's a way—and that there are good people around.

Iris, you have a blank canvas to work with. We're never too old to establish a new image. Loves2fly has some YouTube tutorials on eye makeup during chemo, including brows.

Cubbie, go to Zenni.com and surf their collection of frames for kids. Most are seven bucks--lenses, cleaning cloth & hard shell case included (upload your prescription). Free shipping too. I have a smallish head too, and two of my frames are “kid-sized."

Wow! I'm 3 pages behind! It seems the more I do the further behind I get! I just wanted to drop in and say howdy! I've been busy cleaning my basement, the junk we save ugh! I hope everyone is doing well. I'll catch up with everyone this weekend... I hope!

Mommy, I'm happy to see your treatment plan has started. I hated getting my port! I think stepping back from your mom is a good thing. You need space to focus on you not mom.

Sandy, praying all your tests get taken care of soon. The waiting sucks big time!

Iris, you go girl, rock those hats and scarves!

Cubbie, I'm happy your physical went ok. Hopefully your bp will come down soon. I have a hard time keeping mine up. I'm not sure which is worse too high or to low? I'm sure it's the to high bp.

Molly, praying Wyatt is have more good days than bad.

Gentle healing hugs to everyone I may have missed.

Love you all so very much!

    Have a great day!

Well today was the first day I had to change the bandages. Kept the one they sent me home from the hospital as instructed and changed it after I showered. Was worried about how I was going to keep the incisions dry until they healed and so I talked to a friend who is a nurse and she told me to secure Saran Wrap or a Ziploc bag with tape over the incisions when showering. So glad I have someone like her to turn to when I have questions about stuff like this.

You can also buy Tegaderm dressings, but they’re not cheap. Maybe the nurse can slip you some, like the MGH clinic did for Bob in Boston last week to keep his blistered feet dry in the shower.

Thanks Sandy, I'll keep that in mind. Will see if I can find it in a pharmacy close to me. It is so wonderful when I can get advice from my friends who are either nurses or have gone through this themselves.

@Mommyof2, I was told not to worry about getting the incisions wet. I showered 48 hours after surgery. There was a minimal dressing in place that the surgeon removed a week later, and I was told not to worry about it, just don't soap the area. Maybe just rebandage after the shower?

Iris, my hair came in curlier. Thankfully the curl is growing out after many L*O*N*G months. I think an interesting tint could be fun while you're waiting for some length. I know someone who put a purple streak in her gray hair after treatment, and it looks terrific!

Looks like they used the dissolving stitches as they didn't tell me or hubby that I have to come back to have them taken out.

rainny, i am thinking of a colored tint when it gets longer. For now i still have very short hair, sort of dealing with it as is

Did some errands and just did natural, too hot for hat or scarf

Iris, my dentist’s receptionist has had a buzz cut for over 20 years. She had chemo back then and when her hair began to grow back, her husband told her that she looked really good that way and why not just keep that look. She’s pretty and has a nicely-shaped head and wears rimless glasses—so the first thing you see are her eyes, and next her smile.

The itching around the incision where the port is driving me mad. Everything looks good so far, no sign of infection and just a little brusing. Trying not to scratch the itch or put anything on it that could cause an infection. I am beginning to call it the Itch from Hades!!!!!

Somebody somewhere on some forum here (lol) suggested itching a different spot and sometimes that makes the itch go away. Not sure if it is true, but couldn't hurt.

Looks like the steri-strips are preparing to come off by themselves soon. I have been good about not getting them wet and I am beginning to see signs that the adhesive is starting to wear out. Hopefully they will fall off before my first treatment
