    Congratulations, Ducky!

I've been battling the high blood pressure issue all last week. They finally got it down, but my doctor has me on a beta blocker because he believes my high blood pressure is all stress related, which I totally disagree with. The problem is the increased beta blocker dosage is making me so tired. I went from walking two miles every evening to wondering if I can make it one block from the parking lot to the library. I feel OK as long as I don't get out of bed. Ironically, this is adding to my stress, not helping it. I have an appointment with him next week and I'm going to ask him if I can't just take one of the usual front line blood pressure medications and forget this stupid "stress" theory. Tomorrow I'm off to the dermatologist again, too.

I had a bit of white-coat syndrome (136/79, despite meds) at my MO appt. today, mostly because the next step was getting on the scale. I needn’t have worried—the MO said I look thinner than my weight and to keep working out.

Awww, Ducky! your great-grandbaby--sighs wistfully at cuddling a baby.

Following everyone; I'm quiet....because all is good with me. The veteran with whom I took accounting loosed his PTSD demons on my PTSD demons, so I haven't any left just now.

I ended up having to go into urgent care because I just wasn't going to make it until my doctor returns next week. I got permission to back off a bit on the beta blocker by a quarter of the dose, and an appointment to see my PCP's nurse practitioner this afternoon.

I saw the dermatologist today and had that little bump I had ultrasounded back in July finally taken off for biiopsy. My surgeon and MO both thought it was OK, but we're taking it off just to be on the safe side. Back to waiting.

Cubbie ..hopefully cutting back on the beta blocker helps ..years ago when I was diagnosed with Graves Disease ( what an awful name 😵) I was put on a beta blocker because I had tachycardia, but had to stop taking it ..

My grandson had is final IVig infuson this week ..they haven't helped ..now the doctors are going down the track of thinking it is caused by some metobolic disorder..and going to start tests for that ..what a crazy , awful roller coaster ride this has become 😞

I'm in CT for myself as well ..it's my check up next week ..so will give my blood Monday ( ugh my doctor checks for tumour markers ) , mammogram and ultrasound Tuesday , and BS appointment Friday ..

It's so quiet here ? I miss you all !!

Molly hope all is well with Wyatt ?

    Hugs to all xx

Lucy, I can't believe they still don't know what is wrong with your grandson. Poor little guy. In your pocket for your tests next week!

I saw my doctor's NP yesterday (he's still on vacation) and I was given a plan to back off on the beta blocker. However, even though they think it's the beta blocker, just to be on the safe side they want to do a stress test. I thought you could call this whole experience a stress test. It's split over two days, Friday and Monday. I don't see how I'm going to run on a treadmill. I'm going to go two steps and collapse because I'm so weak.

Hi all...just checking in...and yes, Cubbie that does sound exhausting! Iris, I'd agree with your decision to keep the cleaning lady! I really need to get one...Lucy, your poor DGS is always in my prayers and your entire family is in my pocket! Gabe misses you all, as do I.

My knee replacement surgery is finally set...but not until November 2nd (and apologies if I posted this already...brain has been a bit fuzzy). I am glad to have a date, just wish it was sooner. I am getting to the point where even walking around the house is difficult. It doesn't hurt much at all if I stay seated or lie down, but the moment I try to walk a bit, or even do simple chores or cook dinner, it gets tough. Hubby thinks I need a cane...sigh. He keeps reminding me that 'pride goeth before a fall.' :-(.

Lacking mobility is a bit depressing; I am distracting myself by traveling a lot: just got back from visiting my father and stepmom up the coast, heading to LA to see my daughter and the grandkids tomorrow for a few days, and then late next week we head to Boston to meet with my son's future in-laws and start planning his and fiancee's wedding: date has been set for September 2018! WooHoo! Hubby has never been to Boston even though he grew up on the east coast, so should be a fun trip, although I will probably have to skip the Freedom Trail...I can sit and eat in all the good restaurants though! (not what I need when exercising is difficult; although I am swimming three or four times a week).

    Thinking of all of you and sending hugs;

I think a cleaning person is tough to find but so worth it. Not really expensive either

Yesterday was chemo day so today is rest day, saw a neighbor who is member of my gym, she said folks were asking about me and she thought i should go to gym even if just to talk to pals, gonna to that tomorrow

    Exercise my jaws!

Hi everyone. Iris, glad your new cleaning lady is working out. Octogirl, sorry about the lack of mobility. I hope you enjoy your travel plans. Lucy, continued prayers for DGS. I hurt for you. Cubbie, I hope you get some answers. Sandy, did you have your test?

I haven't been on because Wyatt's been in a bad way. We are so close to scheduling a surgical procedure to put in a device that we pray will cut down the seizures. He was in the hospital last week for a 24 hour video EEG. Unfortunately Saturday and Sunday after a month of no status seizures he had them again. Saturday I managed to pull him out but Sunday when I woke up he was fully in status. It took hours and lots of meds to stop. He's been nearly non responsive since. It's breaking my heart. I am praying this episode didn't do permanent damage. Of course Sunday evening we nearly lost him because he was so medicated he couldn't cough out a mucous plug. We both thought it was over. Otherwise I am on vacation this week doing camp Grandma with Ayden. He starts kindergarten next week.

Love and hugs to all. Ducky, Hi! M0mmy, I hope all is well.

Molly, I'm sorry to hear about Wyatt's seizures. Poor guy! That sounds just awful for all of you.

    Love Kieran's shoes!

After decreasing the dose of beta blockers for a few days I've recovered a lot from the fatigue. I'd say I'm about 80% now. I still have to go and sit down sometimes, and I'm not moving quite as fast as I was before all this, but it's a huge improvement over early in the week. I got a call yesterday morning because my labs showed I was also having a bad reaction to the diuretic I was taking. My kidneys weren't handling it well. I had to stop taking that medication, and have to have repeat labs on Friday morning before my stress test. Geez! I tried to treat my blood pressure, and it just made things worse!

Oh Ducky, how very precious! I know you will enjoy snuggles with him. So glad your DGG is well enough to go home.

Molly, so sorry your Wyatt is not doing well. I'm hoping things straighten out quickly. In the meantime, Camp Grandma sounds delightful.

Week one of treatment done. Had the triple cocktail of Taxol, Herceptin and Perjeta today. Next two weeks will be Taxol only. I get the triple cocktail every 3 weeks.

Cubbie, they can do a “chemical stress test” for those too orthopedically compromised to walk the treadmill or pedal an exercise bike—it raises your heart rate to a level where they can check for stress-related patterns on your EKG. I was supposed to have one, but I felt it was a relatively “good knee day” (this was between replacement surgeries) and did the treadmill instead—in UGGs. I did fine.

Octo, there is no shame in using a cane. I started in 1994—picked up a Leki hiking cane (“Wanderfreund”) at a walking-shoe store in Boston. Later that summer, in Kitzbuhel, Austria, I saw lots of able-bodied people using them for long hilly walks around town. You can also buy trekking poles (some even have a compass in the handle). I called my cane my “accelerator"—it helped me walk faster & farther. And it automatically gets you priority at TSA. Canes now come in colors & patterns—and some fold up to go in a suitcase or tote bag.

Legs were a little achy tonight, so I broke out the Watkins version of Icy Hot that I sell as one of their reps. It is already working on the pain

Legs are back to normal so far. Today I am not going to do much, maybe just vacuum the living room rug, dishes in the dishwasher and do the sheets and towels.
