hi lucy, well i am ok ,my poor stubbed toe is slowly growing out! I keep putting antibiotic cream on it but it really doesnt hurt. Found a pair of keds to wear around the house, it does not injury my toe again!

Tomorrow is visit to onco., anxious to talk to her, not sure but hoping she orders a scan to see how it is going. Went to gym today, crazy as every knows what is happening as i have not hidden things. But they all seem to say i look good! Was talking on line to an old pal from my 08 diagnosis, she reoccured and contacted me. I keep trying to encourage her to do dt as she has said she can only do wall walking. I hope she gets pt and that it helps her

Good news from onco, blood tests for 3 months straight have shown improvement, that followed my good scan 3 months ago. Next scan is likely in a month. I do have dreadful foot and hand peeling and keep trying dif creams.

Off to cream the feet! But basically good news

Hello crazies. I have missed you all but I needed to step away from the boards. Wyatt is stable, thank you Lord! He still is on too much O2 and definitely in a decline but it has slowed. No near death experiences lately! He turns 20 on the 29th. My prayers have been for him to be here to celebrate no longer being a teenager! I am doing LE PT 2x's per week. For some reason my MO didn't sign the referral for the sleeve and glove. I need to call him next week. I love the PT. She is calm and gentle and I am making progress. All that pain on my radiated side she is working on breaking up. I do read the emails and think about all of you! Sandy I hope you arm is getting better. Love and hugs to everyone.

    Molly, welcome back—hugs to Wyatt.

R arm ROM is improving—being out of the sling to drive helped. (But still wearing it most of the time, even for sleep). Broke my heart to have to cancel playing at my favorite venue next week, but playing an instrument is pretty much out of the question till my L wrist & R arm are out of their “restraints” and P.T. can begin. Was really worried that the fracture might bring back my LE, but knock wood..

Jersey is full of small non chain pizza places and i do enjoy helping to keep little places profitable so will be back, maybe next week?

My X-ray reports are in: R elbow has "slightly depressed non-displaced radial head fracture" (tiny nick in the elbow end of the radius), and L scaphoid has "an irregularity in the waist concerning for non-displaced fracture." (hence Wed's followup X-ray to see if it appears more clearly). The "wristbone" on the pinky side (ulnar) isn't fractured, but its joint (triscaphe) and the base joint of my thumb both have "mild spurring & degenerative changes." The R radius & ulna themselves, are also not fractured, but both articular surfaces of the ulna (where it joins the radius and humerus to form the elbow)--the olecranon and coronoid process--are also showing spurring & osteoarthritic changes. Typing is tough--the L scaphoid is still sensitive to pressure on the rigid palmar stay of the splint. And rotation is painful too--though I am not going to test the wrist's flexion or extension, because I must keep that splint on until further notice (probably another 4 weeks--the alternative would be a cast).

lucy, well that is one adorable dog, think i have seen that type of dog. Dogs in this neighborhood need to be walked on leases so i get to watch folks. I did gym two days in a row so today is relax day

Iris ..yeah ...dogs are meant to be on leashes here too ....there are a few fenced off -leash areas here and there through the parks though Hope you are enjoying your relax day !

Sandy ..it's miserable waiting the 4 weeks .I guess the splint would be better than a cast though .. especially since I imagine your weather would be warming up there this time of the year .

Its 2.20 am here ..can't sleep ..sort of soothing laying here listening to the rain on the roof though ..:-)

    Hugs to all

Well, Lucy, seems I spoke too soon. The L scaphoid bone is fractured (the shadowy line on yesterday's X-ray is longer than it was on last week's films). I put my foot down that I didn't want a repeat MRI, since I am going to need surgery anyway--if he's gonna debride the TFCC and shorten my ulna anyway, one tiny screw inserted into the scaphoid though a slit in my skin isn't gonna add significantly to my misery. Scaphoid fractures--even a hairline one like mine appears to be--rarely heal without surgery (and take 15 weeks to do so if they do heal on their own). I also have to have the ulna shortened by 4mm because if I don't, it'll only tear the TFCC disc and possibly a ligament the next time.

So on 7/10, I trade this removable splint-brace in for a plaster cast for a week; on the 17th, the cast comes off and the "Muenster brace" goes on--24/7 for the first 8 weeks, then at night for the next 8. I will have hardware in my arm (they saw through the middle of the ulna, remove a slice, and screw-and-plate it back together). This is where my obesity might be a plus--though my muscle might be painfully irritated by the hardware, there'll be more fat between the hardware & my skin. The hardware can be removed in a year once the bone has healed.

My surgeon says not to cancel my 7/18-21 trip to NYC; my singing partner says not to cancel our 7/22 gig because I can still sing and play harmonica. (We had to cancel tomorrow night's show after I fell last week because he's on tour through tonight and we wouldn't have time to rehearse with his guitar picking up the slack). Hopefully, by 9/14 I'll be in less pain than I was in Lafayette, IN a couple of weeks ago (that gig was torture).

sandy, sorry your having such problems with your bone break, sounds like they are healing very slow. With all my crud, have not had any breaks later, feel better.

The creme the derma gave me is doing wonders on the peeling on my hands and feet but i do take a long time in morning to put the gunkie cremes on, then let it dry a bit then do socks and shoes!

oh Sandy, I feel your pain! I broke my R Scaphoid two years ago and was in a cast for 10 weeks and 8 weeks of PT after that. I had to learn how to be left handed for a while, and it is a lot harder than it seems! (Mind you, I was still teaching full time in elementary school ... which means I wrote on the board a LOT). I didn’t have to have surgery, thankfully. Oddly, I didn’t know I had broken it at first. A few weeks after my fall with the dog (bless her heart, she has no idea how strong she is) I couldn’t hold my coffee cup. That was a problem, more than the pain when I wasn’t writing or lifting. I knew the bad hat something was wrong. So I went almost 4 week so edited being put in a cast. Good luck with your surgery. I was thankful not to have to do that. A cast for 10 weeks was hard enough

Gah! The sweating from this blasted heat wave was driving me nuts! I was dousing myself with powder three times a day just to try and keep it at bay! Well because of this I ran out of my trusty powder I keep on hand for these kind of days, so I got desperate enough to try a little foot powder for the problem! It worked, no more sweating

Foot powder is actually superior because it has anti fungal properties, so you won't get heat rash.
