Dorene, I went to church in pants and switched to shorts as soon as I got home. My cold is dying! Hubby said its time to bring down the Spring/Summer clothes and change the curtains out.

Thanks to all for their condolences on the loss of my cousin. Even if we didn't see eye to eye on everything, at least we agreed on one thing, we were family.

I think everything will be fine with my scan. Got a very good feeling about it.

Oh mann..  I'm smiling about the seasonal curtains! I have no curtains in my house. like a fishbowl. no neighbors.

If you bring the curtains down, it's going to snow.. Put away shovels or sweaters, it snows in  April. And if it snows, add curtains to the list.. tee hee

Up with the sun .. or rain..and thunder! (Curtain snow later) Good Scanning vibes...sent to you.

Today is mohawk day.. hair falling out pretty fast 14 days from the first day of chemo for me.

mommyof2- hoping all the news you received today will be good news

Dorene- I hope you continue to have relief from the removal of the tape. Isn't it crazy how the smallest thing can make such a big difference. I started losing my hair after 2 weeks. I had a hairdresser scissor cut it short. I was tired of plugging up my sink. I was bald for a few months but my hair has come back thick and strong. I do have some of that crazy chemo curl though. I rarely ever wore wig. I'm in Miami and it's just too bloody hot. I had a lot of cool beanies LOL

I went to my new oncologist and Cancer Center today. My new oncologists is excellent. The whole navigational process was rather simple. I'm helpful this will continue in the future. She supports my former oncologist recommendations which are no scans unless there is an issue with blood work, physical issues/problems or something discovered upon professional examination. So, crazy town avoided today

Haven't heard anything from the oncologist yet, but the hospital put up the results on my patient portal for them. The area of concern that showed up in January wasn't seen on this one and apparently everything else is good. The area they wanted to see if it was still there was most likely fluid on the lungs from a cold that I had at the time. Still waiting for the confirmation from the doctor.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get through my latest crazytown attack...my ultrasound came out very positive with no worry of cancer. Apparently I"m not quite through menopause so considering a hysterectomy since I can't tolerate the tamoxifen or the AI's...also my bladder has prolapsed which I won't go into the gory details, but assuming I do the hysterectomy, I am thinking I should get it tacked back into place. But I wonder if I'm just letting the situation freak me out, at 53, I can't imagine that situation getting worse and worse over the years. What a relief, I really got myself worked up by the Dr. Google list of ovarian cancer symptoms which i had a lot of them. Another reason to have that remaining ovary taken out, one less thing to wonder about... hope you all are having a good spring.

M0mmy, great news! Eggroll, explore your options and check out hystersisters dot com. Best resource for hysterectomy information and support. I had a hysterectomy with pelvic floor repairs 7 years ago and currently have a bladder prolapse. Let me know if you have any questions.

Still waiting on my CT scan results. It won't be in my portal until tomorrow and for some reason my doctor hasn't called. I am hoping that means nothing nefarious going on.

    Anyone hear from ducky lately?

    Hi Crazies,

It has been a while since I've checked in, but what the heck: Spring! We are embarking on a kitchen renovation. It hasn't been done since our building went co-op in the late '80s; we moved here in 2000. So it's about time and certainly will help us when we finally decide to sell. I'm really excited to have more counter space than the existing 12 x 24" rectangle, with cookbooks balanced on the edge of the sink or on the boom box, and cooling pies or bread on the radiator or step stool.... We're interviewing contractors, and at this moment I have very little positive to say about the species.

In late December my MO said a PET scan showed a minor spot on my lung, and she wanted a CT scan, not right away (the spot was very small), but before the next visit. So I had that in March and didn't hear anything. If there had been something to talk about, I figured they would have called me, and I was right: nothing showed up. Sheesh. Of course the MO wants another PET scan, just because there was a scare, so the cycle starts again.

For those of you who are musicians, I inherited my mother's baby grand and have been playing nonstop, after 20+ years of not playing at all. We brought the piano home when we sold my mother's house in September, and while it takes up 1/3 of the living room, I love having it, both for the tangible memory of my mother, and for the joy of playing it. Fortunately, the neighbors don't seem to mind. We'll see if that changes when the weather warms up and the windows are open! At the moment, I'm working on a fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier.

Dorene, where in Connecticut are you? We were there last weekend, visiting our son, who is doing a semester at a maritime studies program in Mystic that's run by his college. Had some delicious seafood in addition to seeing the boy. Like the idea of a mohawk, even if it's transient. Hope chemo goes smoothly.

Octo, good luck with the move! Iris, glad you're doing okay with treatment. Molly, thinking of you always. Waving at Lucy and everyone else....

Rainny...so good to hear from you ! Your kitchen renovations sound very exciting ! So nice to have your Mum's piano ..and that you've found the joy of playing again !

Molly ..so hoping for great news for you ..and no news is usually good news ! Ducky has been quiet ..she pops in occasionally and shares some beautiful family photos ..I miss her !

We are doing the family Easter celebrations on Monday this year ..will have our 3 kids and their families , and Hubby's parents ..so 18 of us in total ..have woken up to a wet Good Friday here, so a good chance to prepare and freeze some of the food ..Hubby is going to make a peach pie and a nectarine pie ..so I'm looking forward to those :-)

    Hugs to all

Lucy, on my trip to Israel I finally had a Pavlova--delicious! Wonder why it's not more popular here?

    image

In the center is passionfruit sorbet with a tuile cookie and on the right a compote of apple & pineapple.

Because that plate is full of calories?

I was offered some breakfast this morning with my infusion. I was just talking about. Sugar as a carcinogen, but asked for a breakfast roll. I got an apple scone!

    Welcome back! We missed you!

Thanks, Mary. BTW, sugar is not a carcinogen. That rumor was based on a long-since-discredited protocol devised by Dr. Otto Warburg. Yes, cancer cells need glucose. So do all healthy cells. The reason PET scan radioactive contrast medium contains sugar is not because tumor cells use glucose but because they are more active than surrounding normal cells and therefore show up better on the scan.

But nobody needs dietary sucrose or fructose. Going sugar-free will help your health in many other ways. And if calorie content were inversely proportionate to a dish's popularity, few people would eat dessert.

Sandy, that might be changing. Ottolenghi's recent dessert cookbook, which is called Sweet, has three recipes for pavlova, including a showstopper that uses 7(!) egg whites. The only reason I haven't tried it is because I'd then be forced to make hollandaise with the leftover yolks, and that would finish me off--though in an oh, so delicious way!

Sandy, I recently watched https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-truth-about-cancer-series-is-untruthful-about-cancer/ and am busy separating the truth from the garbage. Thanks. I still have about 35 pounds to lose-- what with neuropathy, life would be easier if I were carrying less weight.

Been busy developing an exercise routine that suits me. Trainer at gym is top-notch. Planning on going to gym at 10:30, then on to church for 1:00. If I don't make it to the gym that early, I can go back to the gym after church. Easter dinner with friends.

Glad you got back home for Passover, although Passover in Israel would have been great, too.

Rain, good to see you here but sorry you are in Crazytown on the follow up...

Yay for good news Mommy and eggroll!

The good news here: movers are coming tomorrow! (which means I really need to finish packing today!)... and after a great delay our floors arrived...the floor components have to sit in the house and acclimatize (this might be related to NM's very dry weather, not sure), so won't be installed until a week from Monday. Which means: the movers are coming twice! Tomorrow for everything that doesn't go in a bedroom, in two and a half weeks for everything else! (all three bedrooms are getting a really nice laminate in place of the ugly carpet there now: our living room, dining room, bathrooms and kitchen are all already a beautiful Saltillo tile: large reddish-orange terra cotta tile from Mexico: very Santa Fe in style). In the meantime, we decided that we deserved a relatively stress free transition so we got a vacation rental to stay in until the floors and a few other projects are done (including a bit of painting in one bedroom, which makes sense to do before the floors go in)....

It has been a process! However I am happy to report that the most important change: putting a door directly from the master bedroom to a new outside patio where I plan to put a hut tub, has been completed! Hot tub shopping in my future.... and if any crazies want to come visit, of course you can use the hot tub too: there will be a little pathway from the covered portal (porch) off the dining room to the patio off of the bedroom. With mountain views...

Ok, back to packing. Movers come at nine am tomorrow.

Good news, just scarring from radiation. A little worse than before but nothing to write home about.
