So here's the thing - I have Brown Cat, who I rescued off the street to live with my 2 kitties. At first he hissed and bit on my cats. But now.... they sleep together, they sometimes groom each other. They sometimes chase each other around the house, in fun it seems because no blood is shed. I brought a few temporary foster kittens into my home for a few days late last year. Poor Brown Cat hissed at the kittens, hissed at his brother cats and hissed at me! But after a few days... the hissing diminished. Your kitties may just need to get used to each other. Good luck!

Thanks so much ladies.. I am completely a believer in open and closing doors. Putting Levy down was so hard for my daughter. She is 21 and is a wonderful person. She has this amazing and tender heart. She makes daily strides to battle depression, medication free. She works full-time at a very demanding job. She is NOT the typical 21 yr old. She lives at home still. Pays rent and helps in so many other ways. She is the care taker of the cats. She buys all the food, litter, vet bills. The vet did not charge us for putting Levy down. This touched Mackenzie so much. She sent a thank you card Friday evening. Tuesday the vet called to see how she was doing. We left with many years still coming. He asked her if she wanted to be a new cat Mom..they have a foster program and one of the foster homes had tornado damage. We live in Albany GA and we have had 3 E3-E4 tornados in Jan. It's been a very difficult community time. Anyway she went over Tuesday night. She met Zeus. He is a little pipsqueek. He really is a sweet little thing. So.. she asked if we could just outright adopt. He was thrilled. He knows about our financial hardship. I just went back to work, part time at first. No bills every stopped coming ,lol

We adopted him.. he is sooooooo cute..

Here is the second part.. the vet is a younger guy.. 28..Mackenzie is 21.. while there Dr.Green asked her where she enjoyed eating and fun stuff. She was very honest and said,I don't really go out to eat. I will get take out and veg with my cat and watch Anime. She was dead serious. Today he asked how Zeus was doing and he asked if he could stop by to see him. My child is so clueless. He came over tonight with a cat tree. A cat tree! Those things are expensive! Anyway he asked he if she wanted to join him for a late supper. She was still in scribe,he was too. She was so shocked but said yes. She came home about an hour later. She was so happy.. she is going to his office Friday to help with pet care. Then dinner after.

It is so hard to put into words. As I said she is 21.. still a virgin, never been in love, never even close. She's had a few boyfriends but nothing serious. She said tonight as he said good bye he kissed he hand. It was very endearing.

Ok off the sappy stuff.. here is the new man of the house

GAmomma, as you said, door closes and then opens. Not only a new furbaby, but maybe a new interest for your daughter. Hope they work out. And Zeus is a cutie.

Yay for Zeus and your daughter!

I have been being entertained by my furbabies this week. Had my exchange surgery on Monday along with mediport scar revision and removal of 2 skin tags. I am thankful for all my furry friends. They keep me from being bored!

    Happy Easter weekend to everyone!

A story that ended happily: black stray cat hanging around our neighborhood decided to break into our basement through a broken window. Two rounds of eviction and breaking back in to cry plaintively at our basement door later, we caved and fed/watered the poor thing. After a few gulps of kibls and water, he wanted nothing more than to climb into our arms and purr there, despite our own feline overlords' insistence that BasementCat NOT NOT NOT move in with us. Through the wonders of social media, my husband found the cat's owner, while BasementCat was pouring out his woes to me.

Owner rushed over....she cried, BasementCat cried, we cried, our cats peered out through the balustrade and growled "He can't move in with us, run along now."

We had a scare last night. We couldn't find Squeakers anywhere in the house. I was afraid he might have gotten out thru a screen door that doesn't close well. I checked front and back doors every 15 minutes fearing that I couldn't hear him squeak to come in. Finally, several hours later, he appeared in the hall. What a relief. No idea where he was. I was getting extra scared as it started to get dark. He is black, unafraid of dogs, and we have coyotes in town here. SO happy he appeared and was safe.

Queenie, I loved your story. I love it when a cat and owner reunite at the shelter. We had a cat we couldn't do much with because it was so shy. When it was posted as available a woman called saying it was her cat. Turned out her (now ex) boyfriend turned the cat in for adoption. When she started talking to the cat, it came out of the covered side of the kennel and kissed her. No doubt about it being her cat. Very heartwarming.

Husband and I are still tearing up a bit whenever we think of reuniting BasementCat with his owner.

Devon Rexes are known for sitting like little old men. My two don't do that, but Joey Roo decided he would recline like an old man, everything hanging out. Had to take a few snaps as I might not see it again.

Henry is his usual cranky self. I bring the grand-puppy over every once in a while to keep him perked up Happy

Henry will play 'chase' until he's sick of it; then he'll jump up on something and glare. Puppies are a little too enthusiastic after awhile!

This is Frankie. She is the most snuggliest, talkative, awesomest kitty I've ever come across, but her litter box issues are going to kill me before the cancer does. Sigh. :)

Try Feliway (from your vet or online). It's a plug-in air diffuser that puts cat-calming scents into the air. I was at wits end with one of my cats and it really worked!!! I never had to check when it needed a refill, because once it was low, Oreo immediately started peeing on things again. Feliway extended his life by many years!

Frankie is gorgeous do you have to help her groom? I had a semi long hair (Marley) years ago, he used to get knots if he didn't get a little help from his friends. No digital photos of Marley unfortunately. His life time was in the days of film cameras.
