my cousin posted on my FB that he hoped and prayed I could find the will power and self discipline to cure myself of cancer. LIKE ITS MY OWN FAULT!

good to know Annie. I just feel so vulnerable and it sucks!! So glad to have you all out there. A bit weepy this morning too. Yay period....agai

Chemo #3 for me this morning. Keeping fingers crossed that it will go like the last two and give me a couple of days before I crash. Got those baseball playoff games later today and tomorrow. I told hubby and friends I'm going no matter what. Even if I'm tired, so what, its not like I'm playing. Right?

yes I love the "if you just keep a positive attitude, you'll be much better off". So I can't get down or mad or such? It's all up to me?

My favorite cure suggestion thus far is 2 Tbls of puree asparagus twice a day. They swore it cured cancer because there were studies that proved it. Or how about the baking soda cure? I'd be dead by now if I followed everyone's helpful cure advice for skipping doctors.

so my mom loves you guys for supporting me and wanted me to share that there is a new treatment for triple negative with success!!! Here's her text:
The drug is Atezolizumab - glad I don't have to pronounce it!!!!!
It's an immunotherapy treatment.

Annie: that's what I said to my husband last night. It's so hurtful to not at least respect our choices
Go Lindy! My daughter has a basketball game Saturday. Last time I went. Counted down the minutes but I was there. Hoping I can do the same this week! Go rusty penguins!! (Don't ask

Jabe I actually felt a bit safer the next time because everyone at the cancer center was watching so closely so I wouldn't react again. The new meds were easier. I had a lot if SE from taxotere that I think we're allergy related.

Annie..I have a SIL that is relentless. She sells essential oils among other holistic products. Thanks goodness for call display as I am now ignoring her calls. She won't let up even after I told her that I'm a follower of proven science. Hey, I was an R.N. so I do know a bit..duh... I'm not gambling with alternative medicine but I did tell her that if she has a hell fire cure for nausea, then I'll listen, otherwise, thanks but no thanks. I had to be abrupt with her but I don't care much for her anyway so I don't give a shit.

dr reduced mine this time by 10% and seems to think that will help with the SEs. I'm hoping!!

It's really easy to tell people this works or that works when you aren't gambling with your own life.

ummm...pass the peach cobbler. So many steroids--must eat!
Annie: so true. Until you walk in our shoes (which I pray they don't)...

I just ate apple crumble and ice cream. It was just what I needed

Annie - I so agree with that statement! I used to swear that if I ever ended up with cancer, I would never do chemo, but would cure it naturally with my diet. But then I got cancer. And my boys are too young to lose their mom. Not worth the risk, for sure!
Southern - Holy cow that sounds amazing!!! Good thing I have round 2 today, so my appetite will be toast. I lost 7 lbs the first week last time, then gained it all the second week. Oops!
Chemo-induced Brazilian is well under way. Hair on my head is still in place, although I just got a shower and I'm now terrified to brush my hair, lol. The rest of my body hair is jumping ship, so I'm sure my head is going to be there too very soon. I really want my 5-yr-old to help me buzz it, so he feels in control, but he will be gone Fri-Mon, so I'm not sure how that will work out....

This is our safe haven for rambling, whining and having a pity-party cuz we all do understand and support each other. Even if you feel so alone, you have loving friends here.
i too feel so bad for those of you with real difficult SEs . mine are not fun but all of the counter-acting meds and concoctions halp me get through. I just had round 3 like several of you so waiting to see if the SEs are any different.
love the cruise or Vegas idea or maybe a peaceful mountain retreat. Let's plan it my freinds!
Be strong, feel better, move forward. As hard as it is our treatments are killing those nasty C cells!
Lots of hugs

Lindy, Sending my best vibes for today!! You kick it Girl, and enjoy the Game. I'll be thinking of you while I watch, and feed on the 'feel great' energy from the crowd!!

Good morning ladies! Please feel free to rant and whine all you need. We all understand, are feeling much of the same, and are here to support each other. This process sucks but we will get thru it! Every day done is another day closer to the end. My last chemo should be December 28th so I keep paying attention to the Christmas countdown and reminding myself how fast it comes in normal years.
I'm on morning of day 4. I'm a little tired and shaky and taste buds are taking a vacation but that's it so far. Done with steroids for this round so we will see what today brings.
For those getting neulasta I did read that they should let it warm up before injecting it and give the injection slowly. It's supposed to reduce the side effects.

peach cobbler and apple crumble sound heavenly.
I am making pasta sauce with meat to use in baked rigatoni with ricotta & mozzerela. I feel ok today so I thought I'd cook some make ahead meals to freeze. Warm cheesy goodness for when I need it.
Aggie love the chemo Brazilian!

twiggy: interesting about warming up the neulasta. I am on neuprogen, five shots, one a day for five days post chemo, and this last round hubby started warming the needle before giving the injection (by taking out of fridge a half hour before shot and then holding it in his hand for a bit) because he had read somewhere that reduces the pain of the injection. I have to say, it worked: I couldn't even feel the shots this time and last time they really hurt! I didn't notice much difference in the bone pain after, although it was never as bad as some of you have had (at the same time as the shot, I take both a claritin and an Aleve, which does seem to help).
LindyC: will watch the game and think of you. Go for it! I went to a regular season game on day four post round one and was fine. My only advice: skip the hotdogs. Too hard on sensitive stomachs! Trust me on that one....Have fun!
SC: send some of that peach cobbler this way!
Today is the first day I really felt normal after Round Two, and I am 11 days out. Going to take a walk to celebrate.
Here's to a better day than yesterday for all of us. Hugs!

Annie, I'm so glad that you barely have invasive breast cancer! That means you barely have to do chemo! Oh, wait... Give yourself a break from that "friend". Now is not the time for you to deal with her issues.
I hear you all on the pushy alternative medicine friends. Years ago, my mother in law brought a holiday dinner to a standstill with her insistence that my mother (whom she barely knew) stop treating her stage 4 colon cancer with chemo and start seeing a chiropractor. She's now moved off that bandwagon and decided that every interaction with me is an opportunity to save my soul. It's tedious.
Day 3 after treatment, and it seems to be going slightly better than round 1. Sure, I was up at 4:00, but I don't have that drugged/stupid feeling that I did in round 1. Stomach is slightly less happy, but not too bad (and I took my meds a bit late this morning). Taste buds fleeing. I'm mostly functional. The MO's PA told me that because my WBC was so low a week after treatment 1 that I should avoid crowds and take extra precautions (no touching door handles, etc.) from Saturday through about Wednesday.
TwiggyOR, my last infusion is December 29. With two kids, this time of year happens in warp speed. It will be here before we know it.
Southern, now I want peach cobbler, but I settledfor peach yogurt.

Cinque, thanks for sharing. I'm glad the strong 3 wk regimen is working ok for you. I just love how all these natural remedies people can come out and say just do this and you'll cure your cancer. There was an article earlier this year about how carrot juice cured a women's stage IV cancer. Uh, talking to my onc yesterday, cure isn't the word they use. So this lady claims she drank nothing but carrot juice and cancer went away without chemo. I wonder what kind of "cancer" she had. Not the kind we have..

loving the mountain retreat idea!! Sounds so peaceful...ahh

Hi Annie...For myself, chemopause was permanent. With my first infusion my period was on at that time. It lasted for 2 days and I never had another since that time. Hope this helps!

Hey, ladies!
Just checking in from the August board to say that I had my 3rd round of TCHP two weeks ago, and did much, much better than I did for the first two. My MO and I had a conversation in which she said that 4, 5, and 6 will be even better (minus the cumulative fatigue), because 1) we know what to expect, and 2) we're managing the SEs very well.
I thought you might want to know. Keep fighting the good fight.

Round 2, here we go!!!!

Hi Aggie. I'm at my infusion too!
You look great. You still have your hair! So envious!

Live from chemo.....me!

LOL.. I haven't had sex since July (right before my August 3rd surgery) and I feel far from feeling sexual at this time, especially after having chemo treatments and smelling like chemicals.

edwsmom & Aggiemegs sporting great smiles. Have an easy infusion gals.
Hey southern any pics of that peach cobbler? I just finished my Italian sauce and waiting for it to cool a bit before starting my baked rigatoni. Well I am actually bumming on my couch if truth be told. Ah the further into treatment the more my couch speaks and tempts me to laze on it. So soft lazy boy. It just sucks me in.

I read about that carrot juice lady. She didn't cure herself. What happened was she had surgery for colon cancer. Then she refused chemo. She then had something show up on a lung scan that might have been metastatic from the colon cancer. She never gets her lungs biopsied. Metastatic cancer is never confirmed. She goes on thinking she is stage 4 and starts to drink 5 pounds worth of carrot juice or something like that every day for I don't know how long. Then she gets another lung scan and it's clear. Now she's written a book and lectures about how she cured herself with carrot juice. Hello? You had surgery that removed your cancer. You had a bogus lung scan.
No one ever told any of us that chemo will cure us. It's about percentages. It's about taking your best odds. I sincerely hope she stays healthy and I'm very sad for the people who die listening to her.
