Geez Cajun how are you supposed to take care of yourself, your kids and now watch your MIL? She should have said something for sure.

Well apparently I wanted to be like the cool kids. Add me to the "can't control my bowels" group. Seriously???? This is pathetic!

Cajun - That is really unfair for her to have placed this burden on you! As if you need more on your plate! I am super thankful that my 2 are in daycare/school. I don't know how you do it!

Annie - Crusty eyes was me. Thanks for letting me know I'm in for the long haul, sigh

aggiemegs (and any with crusty eyes): if you aren't using artificial tears, you should try them. You can buy them OTC and they really have helped me.

    Cajunqueen, that is so aggravating!

I use the artificial tears but it's like sap coming out of my eyes. MO said it was a SE. I get all the less than 20% SE. Wth!

aggie, it is with a heavy heart that I add you to the depends monthly mail order list.

We have a nanny for the work hours but just me on nights and weekends. I had to start taking my ADD meds again to combat the fatigue and get up and do this. Having 3 kids and cancer in 3 years, I think I will be permanently exhausted.

On the plus side, we are getting a bed this weekend, which I will have to cover in plastic to protect it from the Neulasta poop.

I just whined enough that my mom's making me tapioca pudding and chicken chow mein for supper tonight. I've become a whiner. I hope it's reversible post chemo!

Chemo #2 done. It was a much shorter and less exhausting day than last time.

I went in to work today. Feel very revved up from the steroids, but today should be an easy day. Boss is taking everyone out to lunch to celebrate a big win for our company. I didn't want to miss it.

I had half the amount of the herceptin and perjeta yesterday compared to the first time so I'm interested to see how that changes my SE's (or doesn't change them).

Wore my halo to work, that should give everyone something to talk about.

grey - thinking of you today! I hope the port placement goes well and you have calm caring nurses helping you. You can do this!

I was told NOT to shave my head. Apparently, you need a bit above the scalp for the hair to actually fall out when it's ready. Otherwise, it gets trapped and becomes ingrown. They said not to go below #2 on the shaver.

In other news, I find steroids hard to appreciate at 4:00am. Again. The first few days after Round 1, I couldn't stay awake. Now I can't sleep. I'm thankful that I've escaped the more glamorous SEs thus far. I've had a waterproof cover on my mattress for a while because of the small children and old dog. My baby is now 12 and the old dog long gone, but I think I'll keep that waterproof cover a bit longer. I know exactly what will happen ifI take it off.

    Grey- thinking of you today...

I hope all you gals have a not so shitty day, no pun intended! Hope things start firming up in your worlds. I consider myself lucky as my side effects have been very minimal. Super grateful!

Runny eyes, mine have stopped weeping after #3. So hopefully yours will do the same.

I highly recommend all of you sign up for the Look Good Feel Better program in your area. I attended one yesterday and it was excellent. I now know how to paint on my eyebrows if mine should decide to jump ship.

Dee I am going Monday and am looking forward to learning how to do eyebrows also. I am nervous about losing them-they are the only hair I really have left.Do they say what to do about eyelashes? I am scared of false eyelashes cause I have never used them and they seem like a lot of fuss.

You guys are lucky to be able to do the makeup teach. I have seborrheic dermatitis the flares up on my face so I can't use chemicals on my face of any kind. I'm going to check out Whole Foods makeup section to see at least about the brows.

Ariista love whole foods too. Can you use origins or lush makes all natural organic products?

Don't cut it short? Dang... too late now. The short hairs were stabbing me as I slept, plus itchy, so I just shaved it down to scalp. It was so nice to have smooth skin against my satin pillow. I hope it doesn't cause problems later. Maybe I'll find some way to exfoliate and get all the little bits. Even my little neck hairs drive me nuts these days. I may even wax the area just to get it totally smooth.

is anyone's scalp really dry and kinda flaky? I have stubbly patchy head and use conditioner when I wash but my head looks like it has dandruff. What are you all using? I read somewhere about either coconut oil or tea tree oil but can't remember if they were for head or nails. Chemo patchy brain- must write stuff down...stuff blends together nowadays.

Shopgal-they just recommend eyeliner, didn't deal with false eyelashes at all. If my eyelashes fall out(I'm praying they don't) I will be heading to Sephora or to the Mac counter and will be getting a lesson. I will be wearing false eyelashes if it comes down to it.

Well I am in real trouble, because I have shaved my head with a razor 3 times already. My head is stubbly now as it keeps growing back. I only have 1 treatment left so I am letting it grow. I haven't had any ingrown hairs yet. My stubble was catching on my pillowcase(bamboo fibers) last night and was driving me nuts. I had to keep taking my hat off, due to my hot flashes to cool off.

If you are going to razor your head, make sure you use a new razor each time. You don't want to get infection if you nick yourself.

Shopgal you can use either coconut oil or tea tree based shampoo on your head. Treat it like you would if it had hair. Soap will dry it out. It's not like body skin.

For the stubby heads, I've seen on headcovers.com some cushy sleep caps. I plan on getting 1.

Others in older months threads just straight up apply coconut oil to their scalp and skin. It was helping some with my seb dermatitis but with stronger chemicals, I have rxs for creams which I hate to use but I can't be miserable like seb derm makes you 100 x worse on chemo. I'm broken out and itchy just from the little anesthesia used yesterday from the port sx. Sucks when you have a skin condition already.

Shopgal, I shaved my head with a Gillette Venus Breeze razor. It had extra pads of moisturizer on either side of the razor that left a layer of slime & a nice smooth finish when dipped in water. Since then, I've been washing with shampoo only every other day. Gotta let your natural oils have a chance. If that doesn't work, swap to conditioner only every other day (which is also the secret for managing curly hair!) Additionally, my salon sent me home with a tea tree oil tonic that they recommended with and without hair to help the itching.

Now, if I could just find a nice scalp sunscreen that wasn't toxic and didn't annoy me if I sweat.

ugh, I just want to throw in the towel today. I am so hot and tired. Up all night is so awful. I can't believe I have to go for another round at 2. How does anyone make it through 5 months of this?

my wig guy said to use a washcloth and soap in the shower and that keeps all healthy as you go from stubble to nothing

My hair started jumping ship yesterday. I have/had thick hair and it is going fast. Chemo induced Brazilian is in progress too. I have noticed I haven't had to shave my armpits as often. My husband really wants to be the one to shave my head. The problem is I am not quite ready tonight. He is leaving on a trip and won't be back until Monday night. My wig won't be here until Monday. I don't know how much hair I will have by then. No idea what I am going to do.

A couple days ago my tender arm swelled up, got red and the tiny small hard spot turned into a big hard spot. Went to see PA at MO office. She drew a line around the red but I think it was to pacify me. When it went well beyond the line the next day I had to push to be seen. It throbs when I put my arm down. I am 2 weeks out from infusion and it doesn't make sense. They sent me for ultrasound which was BS. They spent 40 minutes looking at my upper arm and 5 minutes on the issue area. They said I have a small clot in a superficial vein. (Thrombophlebitis) I specifically asked if it was phlebitis the day before and was told no. I don't feel confident in my MO office and am seriously considering changing doctors to one out of town. Also considering a PICC line. I hate to get a port for 3 more infusions. I don't trust the people here.

Scotland - You saved me! My MO told me I might as well shave it off as it would all be gone by this Sunday. Had hubby all set to shave it off, but not so fast! Thanks for good advice. (My "chemo cut" was a #4.)

My dx is almost identical to yours, except my tumor was so big my mastectomy is planned for after A/C then Taxol treatments. Very comforting to see others with the same Stage, very similar treatment plans. Have had significantly less SEs with Round 2 and feel very lucky.

Day 18: I went from a full head of hair to large bald spots in one shower. Tossed a kitten worth of hair into the trash, and had to dry off with a lint roller because I looked like a gorilla. Sexier every day! So glad I had most of it cut off Saturday.

Wishing an easy day for each and every one of you!
