Oh Patty, the troubles, they suck. Saw the last page re: ambulance ride. I have the provider side experience with that. The outcome is cost and necessity, worded right you owe nothing.
If your call was determined that you needed transport by ambulance, there are two systems
1. EMS county/or city is the primary responder and transports in all situations ...OR
2. EMS county or city is the primary responder and contracts with a private service, to transport non -life threatening transports.
Each is covered by insurance. But each will try to bill you as an individual.
The county/ city service bills insurance to try and recoup cost. If you receive a bill after insurance payment from the county or city, respond with " This was covered by my taxes, advise further why my taxes didn't cover this transport when the responders determined that transport was medically necessary". Bill will go away. If the bill doesn't go away, call your council person or the EMS Community Relations Specialist.
With the transport by a private company. Once county or city Ems personnel releases you to a private service. The private service will try to get you to sign a responsibility for service form. Don't. Big time don't. Reason. The transport was recommended by the Primary Responder of EMS. That means that there was a need based on assessment for transport. Medical Necessity. They have contracted with the county/city service to provide medical transport in non-life or limb situations. They are double dipping. Of course, they will always describe that they are loosing on there costs.
If you call a private service, you are bound by their costs.
Hopes this helps, Love you sweetie

Sas. Thanks I didn't know. You are just so smart.
Jwoo. New avatar pic ?????
Thanks for the support all. I am actually feeling much better. Amazing what stays hydrated does. I actually went to mo on Tuesday and got IV fluids and phenergan. So much better.
I have been trying to find something to do with boys while they are out of school. It is def harder to make plans without exdh. I can't drive far cause riding hurts my back. I can't do much physical activity. So def limits our possibilities. Before with dh I just knew he had alol the details . and could do anything with boys even if i had to stay back at hotel.
Anyway we are leaving Monday for a 2 hour ride. (. Ds1 has driving permit will let him practice s little. ). A small tourist town that is famous for folk and blue grass music and old time living lessons. Going to spend 3 days 2 nights and come home wed pm. Going to stay in a state park cabin and some activities we are going to go are : Touring caverns ( stays nice and cool ) , they have a huge zipline obstacle park ( I am just watching but ds2 is wearing his go pro on his helmet he is becoming quite the videographer ). go carts , historical craft town ( among many other things ds1 wants to make home made knife and I wanna make candles ). Evening open jam session on town square This week is blues. ( trying to talk ds1 into taking his guitar but he is shy ) open fire pit for roasting hotdogs and smores at night and maybe a scary story or two probably just end up scaring myself i am a abig chicken I will be legally carrying my gun on my hip. Another thing dh always handled. At least he offered to do preventative maintenance check on auto before leaving.
Anyway got winded. As you can tell I am excited and it's been awhile since I've had something to look forward to. Taking extra cash in case I feel bad and need to stay another night.
Hugs

Patty, that trip sounds like so much fun. Maybe we all will tag along with you. I'm sure the boys are going to have a great time, and most of all, they will so enjoy it with you. Enjoy every moment of it.

Patty, your crafty-musical vacation sounds like fun for all. We visited Williamsburg and the Jamestown Settlement a few weeks ago and saw families with little kids and teens having a wonderful time doing old-timey things like grinding corn for meal and stomping water into clay to make bricks.
Pace yourself, wear a hat, stay hydrated and have a ball!

thanks for the support and reminders to pace myself. I already called this morning and increased cabin stay 1 more night. Plan on no clock or schedule. Just gonna wake and up get around when we want and making sure I get a nap every day.
Tina. I have always wanted to see Jamestown settlement. How cool.
What great memories we will make. To bad my memory is shot. Will have to take lots of pictures and videos.
Cathy : yes I really carry a pistol. I know it's controversial but it's for me.

will have to wait and post some pics when I get home but I have got to say this trip has been the best time me and dss have had in YEARS. So bam....take that cancer !!
Tonight is our last night and back home tomorrow. Thankfully it's only s 2 hour drive. I should get to sleep so I won't be sleepy driving but I just can't shut my brain down. Just soaking in all the memories we made. I am glad I got many pics and videos. Will be great to watch on those days I am so miserable I can't remember why I am fighting. These dss are why I fight. And the pics prove we are still making good positive memories and I am still making s positive impact in my Dss's lives. Sometimes hard to remember when in hospital alone at night for what seems like the hundreth time.
