Beautiful work Aussiecat! Have you tried onthe of those magnifier lights to help with your cross stitching?

Love the colours feelingfenine! Perfect for such gloomy days we've been having!

vampeyes, thank you so much!! No, I have tried a magnifier light - do you recommend it?

Aussie-cat, I do paper piecing (tiny pieces)and learned really fast that my old eyes need exceptionally good light. I highly recommend a Happi Light or other brand full spectrum goose neck floor lamp to put by your sewing chair. I can’t do it otherwise.

MelissaDallas, thanks for your advice. I already have a floor lamp next to my lounge room chair but not a magnifying one, so that might help even more. Your design is gorgeous!!

Aussie-Cat, my neighbour uses one for when she does cross stitching and seems to like it. I keep looking for one that is a decent price for my mother in law (she does paint by number) and now that I am doing diamond dotz wouldn't mind one for myself. Worth a shot, saves straining the eyes and makes it more enjoyable to do your craft.

Aussie Melissa and Vampeyes are spot on, those lights are the BEST! A decent one is worth the investment, and even the better ones are not hugely expensive. You can get them in all sorts of versions (floor standing, table top, clamp-on etc) really cannot recommend highly enough. You can also get travel versions if you need to pack-n-go with your work.

Melissa, do you machine sew or hand stitch? Your project is spot on! What lovely colours you have chosen.

Aussie, maybe we will get lucky and find a good Christmas deal on these magnifier lamps!

I missed out on the one at Mary Maxim, sold out before I could get in there. Darn!

vampeyes, that sounds frustrating. I hope you find a good lamp soon.

Vampeyes, I do both. The little blue and gold piece is part of a hand paper pieced millifiore quilt that I may be ninety before I finish. Here is an example of a finished one that is NOT mine.

WOW that is stunning! Hand quilting, cross stitch you ladies have tons of patience! I quilt, and the only thing sewn by hand is the binding. 😂

I'm with you vampeyes. I don't even hand-sew the binding. I would be afraid anything I did by hand would fall apart.

Wren, I am afraid anything I sew either way will fall apart. I am praying that Harry Potter quilt stays in one piece, apparently when paper piecing I should have made my stitches smaller. Opps. Fingers crossed. That will be a hard lesson to learn if it falls apart.

I always take good photos of my creations so that if I give them away or they don't stay pristine, I have a record of them. I hope your quilt doesn't fall apart though, vampeyes.

I did some paintings with my boobs (since I'm a bc survivor) for a cancer benefit/concert/art auction. They're abstract. I created a technique I call the dip and stamp method.

Those are quite good for using your boobs cyto, have to say you'd never know if you hadn't told us. I couldn't use my boobs for painting, too small. hahahaha. Your paintings are quite lovely and love your techinque. ;)

Aussie - I just started taking photos of my work, I have a few that I didn't when I first started out.
