Round one of Abraxane done, start round two on Monday. This off week hasn’t been too bad, feel almost normal. I do have thrush from all the dexa I took after the cyber knife to the brain. But it’s getting better. Day one, not bad, day two, not bad, three and four the fatigue hits, five six and seven aren’t too bad

Gracie- i just finished round one as well! I did week one and three. Week two my white blood count was to low so seems they skip that week, I don’t make it back up.
I had horrific pain in my hips and shooting pain in knees. Hydrocodone has done nothing to help. I take Claritin everyday, didn’t help much. Now it is two days after I got abraxane and my hips feel better! I feel better. I have more get up and go. I just hate to have another week off again😂 I feel I’m stuck at this rut where I feel crappy bc of two larger liver legs and numerous small ones. I really want a full three weeks to see if I feel better. The side effects will be another down side though.
So I did week one and off week two. I thought the break wouldn’t make me lose hair as fast. About three days before I got week three,of first round, my roots of hair started to hurt. I just got my hair cut really short bc it’s hard to say what will happen. Then it started falling out pretty fast but no clumps yet. Head is starting to itch now and I have hair falling everywhere, day and night. I’m not quite sure how i still look like I have hair? Once the clumping starts I will shave it for sure. I was ready for this and seemed ok and then im like oh i think will probably be another we week now. I’m not quite as ready now as I was before, 😜
Hoping for a goood rest of the week! Good luck on round two! Keep posting so I know what to expect bc I’m trailing right behind you!
Thanks, happy weekend to all!

hi Sarah. I have my first of round two on Monday. My WBC has been really good. But I had cyber knife to the brain a week before I started Abraxane and they put me on pretty good doses of dexa and I was on that for three weeks . So when I actually started the Abraxane my WBC was at 18! Good grief that was high. This last week it was at three. So I’m thinking next week it’s probably going to tank. I also had some pain the second week in spots that I knew I had cancer, so I’m hoping that that was tumor flare.
Good to know that there’s somebody else on the same schedule that I’m on. I hope that you get through the next three weeks with no problems with your blood count and much less pain!
My hair is falling out too and I think it’s going to be all gone by Monday. I may buzz it just to get rid of it

Gracie- i went to a local nutritionist store near me and asked what to take to keep the blood counts up. She gave me amino acid complex 1000 and ester -c 1000. She said take those 1-3 times a day and then iron complex 25 mg iron and take that 2 x a day. She said the ester c is the most important one. Of course I won't be able to tell if the are working at all bc I'm getting these weeks off in between my abraxane. The iron I only take one every other day bc my stool was black and hard. Iron will cause the stool to do that
My first abraxane my vein wasn't so hot and the nurse was nervous I didn't have good veins. It hurt so bad getting the needle in my hand. The other treatment she said wow your veins seem to look a lot better this time and it didn't hurt one bit getting the iv in? Not sure if it was the pills or not.
Good luck Monday

I have been sick as a dog since yesterday!!! Haven’t eaten much, and zofran has done nothing for me!! Ugh!!

Gracie- oh no I feel so bad for you! Do you think it is the chemo? Do call your doctor and let them know just in case. I hope u feel better.

Gracie is it nausea your sick with? Do they give u something as a premed in iv for that? I get kytril for that before I start abraxane. I did get a prescription to just in case but haven’t needed it. I take ginger pills every day I just bought at wal mart in the vitamin section.

Sarah, they do give me something in my iv. This hit just about when the dexa started wearing off on day two. Was nausea and lasted a little over 24 hours. Wasn’t running a high fever, but did have low grade, like 99, so I’m not sure what it was. Will let them know though

did you end end shaving your hair? Mine is cut super short and I shed like a cat but so far not coming out in clumps. It isgetting pretty thin.
I'm fed up with this hip pain and I have shooting pains in the knees. The hip pain went away completely after my last abraxane and now on my off week it is back.
I can tell I fell better but still can't wait to get three weeks in to see how I feel.
I noticed my doctor got neulesta pre approved from insurance. Didn't need it but will fight like hell to not have to ever take it. I have heard nothing good about it

I did, just buzzed it all off. I got tired of hair everywhere! I’ve been sick this week! Tuesday and Wednesday and then again today!!! Just never know!!

Good for you Gracie, I remember the first time I felt a breeze on my buzzed head, it was awesome 😀

when I went to buy a wig I had the best ever lady in the world! She is 72 and been doing this for cancer patients for a long long time. She also gives a free class through the cancer society. I spent 400.00 with her for a wig and two ball caps with hair and some caps for night time. She taught me the correct way to to put ona wig and where to place it.
Anywho, she told me that u have hair under your scalp yet and that has to grow out of the head as well. She said headaches are common through both hair loss and when that hair under scalp grows out as well.
Another tip she gave me was Carmex on finger and toe nails. This has helped too. My nails were still kind of bad from Xeloda.
Another tip was use baby shampoo and lotion on your head. Protect all skin bc rashes and break outs are common.
Hope some of this helps some

That helps a lot! Thanks for the info! Carmen is a great thing to use...will try that! Have been putting lotion on my head, so it’s good to know that’s ok. I haven’t lost my eyebrows but my eyelashes are thinning out. Have you lost yours

what day did u actually shave your head? The wig lady said baby shampoo and baby lotion and I thought nah do I really need the lotion? Sounds like I better go back.
All my other hair is holding. Shaved legs yet today. I keep thinking g this will be the week for my head. It has thinned a lot but no bald spots. I guess my part on the top looks thin, my daughter said.
I said this cancer crap makes u spend a ton of money on crap. All this stuff for Xeloda and ibrance I bought over the counter is nuts and now it sits.
My bf dad died last April of lung cancer and his wife had this huge tote full of items he used over the five years. It was crazy what she ended up throwing away. Just sad. As if u don’t be pay enough for chemo and dr apt it’s all then other junk you buy

has anyone ever used Cardani eyebrows? They look pricey but wonder if they are any good
0 -
I buzzed it Monday...had gone to treatment and stopped at the store and had a hat on and it was just way too hot! So I bought a little trimmer and just got rid of it all. Baby lotion is a good idea. I’m like you with all the extra “stuff”! It’s crazy how much extras cost

Gracie- thinking you have chemo today and hope your blood counts are good and you are feeling better.
I will start my round two on wed this week. Then I should be due for xgeva shot and lupron shot so it will be a rough day for me!
I think I'm reaching the end of my rope for my hair. I held off as long as I could. I made five weeks so I should be happy bc I figured at two weeks it would be gone. Getting very thin on top. How is the hair that grew out after you shaved your head? Is that falling out or growing any?
Good luck and hope all goes better this time

hey there! Yes today was chemo. Went smoothly! Have been sick off and on all week, so they gave me something different for nausea. Fenergen I think she said. I was surprised my hair held on so long too! The stubble is still growing. I’m sure I’m going to lose it though. But it’s crazy that it’s even there! Will be thinking of you on Wednesday! I’m only two days ahead of you

Hello - I've finally taken the leap and joined this group. I pretty much keep to myself but, since the death of my mother and subsequent depression (along with the spread of my cancer), my children thought it would be good for me to join and meet others who are going through this journey.
I began Abraxane last month after being on Ibrance and Femora for nearly 2 years. I've had only one round, but had forgotten how butal iv chemo was. Next dose is next week.
Thank you for allowing me to join

Hi msmann! There are a few of us posting right now. I’m on my second cycle of Abraxane. I lost my mom six years ago to ovarian cancer. That is a loss I’m not sure any of us handles well
0 -
No, Gracie. It's been the hardest thing I've ever endured. She had breast cancer, as well..although that is not why she died. She successfully fought IBC for 10 years.
I've had iv chemo twice before beginning Ibrance 2 years ago. When it lost its effectiveness my doc opted to try Abraxane

Ibrance failed me too. This is my third option, the first was Femera, it lasted 8 months. I"m hoping and praying Abraxane works. Mine progressed to the brain and the liver. I had cyber knife for the brain, now hopefully the Abraxane will knock out the liver mets.

You will be in my prayers, Gracie.

welcome msmann63 it is a good idea to talk with others who do understand. Just the tips and side effects and what tolook for is helpful to each of us.
I’m starting round two of abraxane tomorrow. This is my third line in a little over two years time. I started with ibrance/ Femara and made 18 months. Moved to Xeloda for six months. I was bone only and right before Xeloda it went to my liver. I now have two large mets in my liver that lead me to abraxane.
I have such horrible joint pain I want to scream but other than that the rest has been easy.
We girls can do this! Fight hard even when you don’t want to!
I’ll be thinking of u along our journey and pray for the best!

Thank you for the welcome, Sarah! It is helpful to hear others’ stories and to know we are not alone. My next round is next Thursday the 23rd. I had the joint pain with the first, as well. Thankfully it was only a few days and several days of nausea. I was shedding (which was so aggravating) so I buzzed it off. It’s much cooler now down here in Mississippi.
You will be in my prayers
