Coping a little better. Swore this morning that while I was in the basement taking a load of laundry from my washer I could hear what sounded like Jackson’s nails on the living room floor. He used to walk around like that on laundry day. Even swore I saw a flash of white and tan while I was cleaning the house. Maybe he’s checking in on me.

His back legs are bad, they kinda go along for the ride. He falls constantly and isn’t strong at all. I watched him outside. He trips over grass spots. If the leash gets stuck he doesn’t have the strength to even pull it out anymore. He hates the steps. Fell down and entire flight over the weekend, tough old guy. I’m just glad he wasn’t hurt. Hoping you’re doing ok !

I really think they do come back. One day I was looking out to the snow covered yard. I SAW my crazy, snow loving, dead dog standing there. I just stared back at him. Turned my eyes away a second, he was gone. Weird, huh?

Yep. I am a total believer that our furbabies never truly leave us. They watch over us and know when we need them.

my golden, Sandy, died in 1997 and I still miss her and can cry at the drop of a hat when talking about her. A few years ago my sister and I watched Homeward Bound and I came completely undone! They truly give us unconditional love.

Micmel, Jackson's breathing did change. There were times we had to call his name several times as it looked like he wasn't breathing when he was restingor he would breath very heavy. It is definitely something to keep an eye on. Is Tag eating still?

Although I am not quite ready for a new doggy, hubby and I are looking at dog adoption sites online to see what is out there. So far no Shelties, but I am not ruling out Australian Shepherds or Border Collies either. We want to give another dog a loving home when the time is right for us.

he’s eating yes. But he’s breathing way too heavy at times and is very clumsy..

Mom , give a lot of thought to an Aussie or BC. They’re bigish can go 50-60#. Strong herding dogs. Would the cats like being herded? Easily bored. If they don’t have a job to do, they’ll find one and you probably won’t like it.

My Aussie was THE MOST destructive pup I ever had. Chewed holes in the walls. Chewed 4 of my dining room chairs. Knocked the Christmas tree over, ate the ornaments. Vet took out 11 straight pins, broken glass, and a jingle bell.

    Think about it.

Will do. I told hubby, absolutely no pit bulls or Rottweilers! Trying to stay in the medium sized range for a new doggie! Told hubby whatever we got when we were ready, it would be going on walks around the neighborhood. Tried from the time Jackson was a puppy and he wouldn’t budge one bit!

For 14+ years I always thought I’d get another Aussie. I was 60 when he left. I absolutely love the breed. But got thinking about how I had to pick him up off the floor cause he couldn’t get traction to get up. And other age related issues for both of us. And decided a very small dog would be a better choice. And then came cancer.

So I melt when an Aussie is in the big dog park, but hug Spookie and Kris.

Hubby and I are talking now about looking at mixed breed puppies who will fall in the small to medium range. I have been looking online and found several puppies in our area that fall into that rang.
