Fightingirl- congratulations...no chemo!! What a crazy day you had, crazy! Thanks for all your support!!
Yes, vitamin d low here too. I bet most here are low on d???? I started taking it about a month ago. There is some controversial research linking low vitamin d and cancer. Who knows??

Docmama, for some reason I thought you had a son my sons age. Cancer fog

YAY Fightingirl!! I have been obsessively checking this page since 2 o'clock waiting for you to post something! So glad there is one less thing that you have to put on your plate, but wow what a crazy day! Infection, potential blood clots, oh my. Praying for an uneventful radiation trip tomorrow.
I think we celebrate the victories and encourage when people need encouragement. Three bears, you will make it through this!
I thought Neulasta was just if you are having issues with your red blood cells? My mother-in-law is going through chemo right now for ovarian cancer and it's seems like she gets them sometimes and she doesn't get them other times.
As far as kids go, I have a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old. Now I'm becoming militant with my daughter taking her vitamin D!
Hugs and love to everyone on the board. Even though the topic that we are dealing with is very serious, I love how positive this page is. A whole lot more cheerful than being on Facebook these days!

Yay Fightingirl!!! I don't want any of you Lovely Ladies on the chemo train! So glad that you didn't have a clot either! So scary! The things we go through with this dx is amazing...
Herceptin (Thank God) does not cause hair loss!!!! If it did I'd be without hair for over a year! My hair is finally coming in and we are at the constantly-rubbing-my-head-since-it's-a-soft-fuzz-phase.
PugsMama- When I was little I had quite a temper and my older siblings often said I was possessed. Well, once I lost my hair I was able to prove to the that there was not a 666 on my head hiding under the hair like they always told me! :-)
Shelleybeans -I wasn't given a choice on the port either. After telling me all about my type of cancer, the BS just scheduled the appt. Boom. I didn't really have time to even consider it, but I am very happy I have it... I will be even happier when it comes out though as that will be a concrete sign to me that the treatment part of this ride is over.
I love all of the concert shares, so here's a question; where and who was your first concert?
Mine was Duran Duran at the Forum in LA

yay fightngirl!! Soooo dang happy for you. Here's to hoping your rads go smooth from here on out.
Cowboyup, as with what Beachbabyk said, Hereceptin is not considered chemo. It is a targeted therapy drug for the HER2 positive. My chemo is only 4 rounds every three weeks. Sounds like I should get a port.
No kids here, just my two fur babies.
First concert was Cinderella opening for Bon Jovi in AZ (where I grew up) 🤘 LOVE Duran Duran too. Finally saw then about 10yrs ago. But yeah, Simon was looking pretty old lol
Pugsmama, considering cutting my hair as well how long is yours? Mine is very long. Have always had long hair. Short hair and no hair is freaking me out.

first concert: Led Zeppelin (2/12/1975) Madison square garden, NYC (I still have all my ticket stubs!) ticket price $7.50! Boy am I old LOL
Dani: mine's shoulder length. Going back to the pixie tomorrow. I don't know what's worse, that or seeing all the gray roots that I'm not going to bother coloring. My current hair color is the one I was born with so all I have are gray roots...I'm thinking at least 40-50% of my head at this point...I'll find out!
No kids, just fur-babies.

you girls are all rockstars to me!!
Congrats fightingirl on no chemo or blood clot!
For the girls going into chemo, I have really long straight brown hair, almost down to my butt these days, and would be happy to cut and donate to you, although I'm not exactly sure how that works. Say the word, and I'll chop it off. Solidarity!!
Dcis, if you do needs rads, I'm getting just partial breast, so maybe that's on option? I'll find out more next Friday.
My first concert was also Duran Duran but at the Oakland coliseum. And I never saw the show bc we drank tequila in the parking lot and I ended up in the infirmary!! Freshman year in high school!! It's no surprise Im not a big drinker these days - I'm still recovering from that concert!!

I have 2 college age daughters, 21 and 19. My oldest is getting married in December so I get to help plan a wedding this yesr

My first concert was Duran Duran, too! Guessing probably at the forum since I'm from SoCal. 1983? 1984? Maybe we were sitting next to each other!!

beachbabyk, docmama, any other chemo girls. Did your fingernails fall out as well? Or get thin or anything? Just readsomething about that.
I too am vitamin d deficient

Dani- my hair was about to my mid-back and the day the MO told me I would lose it, I cut it above my shoulders. I later wished I hadn't done it and just saved it as it fell out (I combed it before my shower each day) and donated to Locks of Love or saved it for one of those "hats with hair" deals.
Missed the last post before I hit submit. It didn't affect my nails at all. I did end up taking potassium supplements though.
DCIS & Aboob- that's hilarious! It was 1983-4 (I don't remember exactly), but I was also a freshman, but no drinking here... my step-dad took me.

My first concert was Rick Springfield in Lakeland, FL at the Lakeland Civic Center. I saw so many concerts there - for some reason all the concerts were there - I'm guessing because it's right between Tampa and Orlando. Culture Club, Bon Jovi, Prince, Elton John, Billy Joel, Def Lepard (so good!). Favorite concert of all time was probably George Michael in Tampa Stadium but U2 is way up there as well. And I've seen Bruce Springsteen more times than I can count. Wow - what a trip down memory lane.
Love this board and you wonderful ladies!
And for hair - it's currently shoulder-length but was pretty long last year. I've had my hair really short before so it's been pretty much every style and length. My only concern about my bald head is I have a scar right in the front front that I cover pretty well. When I was a baby my mom said my birthmark was on the back of my neck - it's a light pink area that turns bright red when I would cry. Hopefully it's faded. I've resigned myself to the bald thing. I just have no idea how much grey is there because I color my hair on a pretty regular basis to cover the grey in the front. It's light brown/blonde depending on the season and how I'm feeling. I'm going to look at wigs next week and probably cut it very short as well. I've heard it is a bit irritating when it starts to fall out so if it's short it's easier to shave.
On the Nuelesta - my MO instructed that I only take it on the AC - not the Taxol. So I suspect it has to do with what the chemo is targeting. Thankfully that's just four sessions over eight weeks. I picked up my other meds today that go along with the chemo - not sure who said it but my bathroom looks like a pharmacy too. I never took any meds - now I have to get a pill-keeper to keep track of what I'm supposed to take and when. Crazy how everything changes in a month. But this time next year it will be a memory!

the one and only concert I've been to was one I hardly remember because I was quite young and it was at the Arizona state fair...crystal gayle! That's it... I don't know why, just never been to a real concert. Gotta put that on my after cancer list!
I have a son who is 25...had him when I was 18! I have a step-daughter who lies in Chicago and she is 27. I was a single mom until I met my husband at 26 and married at 28.

Def Lepard was my first. I also was a huge Bad Company fan. Saw them with Damn Yankees 3 times in one year! Other favorite concerts were Bon Jovi, Elton John, Yes, Tom Petty, Jimmy Buffet, and Van Halen.

Shelley- I was told not to completely shave it as you don't want to nick your scalp. I was alsotold that your hair often comes back a different than it was when it first comes in (it eventually returns to normal). I've heard a lot about people having curly hair or darker hair. Mine seems pretty dark, but it's way to soon to know if it has any curl (normally bone straight) there are a few strands of gray in there too but very few thankfully!

wow all the cool concerts . My first was The Beatles in Kansas City in 1964 , i was 9 and my mom who loved Rock and Rock , took a bunch of us neighborhood kids to Kansas City Athletics stadium , that was the team back then for MLB in Kansas City Mo. My sis still has her ticket stub . It cost 6.50 !! My second concert was in L.A at the Hollywood Palladium when I was about 17 1973 the year I graduated from High School ... David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars! What an awesome venue that was small and right there with the band! There were many more cool concerts that followed. But I never got to see The Red Hot Chili Pipers!! Lmao!! That was hilarious ! You gurls really fo rock !Led Zepplin eould have been very cool ! That is one I never made.

Elem: 1975-1977 were great concert years for me: Rolling Stones, CSN, Yes, ELP, Tull, Santana, Chicago. I saw Bowie for his Young Americans tour...but to see the Beatles in '64. Holy sh*t! Talk about experiencing rock 'n roll history!!

Annoyingboob and BeachBaby - LOL ! I wasn't drinking, either. I think I was still in junior high! My friend's stepdad took us and sat in his seat reading the wall street journal. He was in his late 60s and turned his hearing aids off so he didn't have to listen to a bunch of screaming teenagers

Pugsmama ,
It is so true , all those you mentioned were awesome . Heres the coolest thing for m. My sister is married to the Stones former logistics manager Alan Dunn . In 2002 during the 40 licks tour , she got me in backstage in Las Vegas at the Joint and I was right there a stones throw from them . Alan has been with Mick for over 40 years .But recently retired . Although the stones are still doing tours andMick is still making babies ! Lol My sis says when I get done with all the cancer mumbo jumbo , I should come to their home in the UK and she will take me around. They know alot of cool music people. But we'll see , I do not have the money to just globe trot like that , but who knows , there's always that megabucks lotto , where I live in So. Ut , it is 20 mins to the NV /AZ border where I can buy tickets when its a super high jackpot!

Elem: cancer mumbo jumbo...love it! Hope you find a way to visit your sister in England. When Mick had the baby recently, I just couldn't believe it...remember Tony Randall? Lol.
0 -
yes Ma'am I do remember Tony Randall and the Mick baby , I am like what?? Scratching my head!! Music from that era though , still is the best , I love listening to the tuneage from those days. I was born in Amsterdam and when I was 16 I was in Paris , my aunt and uncle took me .It was in 71 the year Jim Morrison died , I was in the neighborhood where it happened . I feel like I am so old when I think about these memories . I may just be the oldest on this board.! I love these girls!
0 -
Elem: I love all of you too! If you're the oldest, then I'm right behind you! Your stories are a wonderful reminder that we're all so much more than gals fighting cancer! between you & me, tho, we did come of age with the best music (but of course every generation says that lol)
0 -
Yes it was a great musically for us indeed!
Right now i would gladly trade in the cancer for the rocking pnuemonia and the boogie woogie flu! ! 🤘✌🏼🎸

Elem and Pugsmama - I feel like I'm with royalty! I did see David Bowie - Modern Love tour. And my daughter - who figure skates - is using Modern Love in her routine at competition next Saturday! So the music truly does transcend generational differences. I was born in 1970 so I'm more of a child of the 80's. Proudly skipped disco - my parents raised me on CCR, Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel and....the man in black Johnny Cash! I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan - cannot explain it but his voice melts me. When they played Ragged Old Flag before the Super Bowl I was like a crying baby. And his cover of Hurt - perfection!

Shellybeans ,
Those are all great artists as well . Loved some of the old Cc&R stuff , and Johnny Cash .. one of a kind! It is awesome that your daughter figure skates and to Bowie !
Simon and Garfunkel .". hello darkness my old friend ", is how I felt when cancer came a calling!
Music is my therapist and I love many genres of it .
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend without any stressors . Love You all .

Hi ladies. Reading everyone's posts tonight was fun! My first concert was in 1980, Little River Band, first under the wire at the Memorial Colosium in Portland, OR. They played at our County Fair this past summer and they were awesome. I love concerts. I miss the days of general admission at $10. Not sure what you all will think of me, but my favorite concert of all time was in September 2015 - Kid Rock for $20. Foreigner was the preshow and they were awesome too. I have seen them many times. I also really enjoyed Kiss in 1997.
For all my sisters on the chemo and radiation train. I'm here cheering you on. You're always in my thoughts and prayers!! You are all champions
As for Disney World count me in!!! Never been but have been to Disneyland several times. Bucket list item for me and if I got to meet all of you that would make it even better!!
Love you ladies!

when I was growing up, we kids and my dad had to do dishes after dinner, so it was always music blaring - Grateful Dead, Beatles, Simon and garfunckel, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, cat Stevens, Crosby stills and Nash, Neil young. Then we would listen to blondie driving to school. Then in 4th grade I got really into disco - MacArthur park still makes me dance. Then the 80s came and it was all downhill. So the music I identify with the most is those great artists from my youth. Plus San Francisco is still a bit hippy, so those 'oldies' are played everywhere.
I'm all in for a Disney trip! I want a picture of all of us in 'survivor' tshirts next to Mickey Mouse!!!

I can see it now...."All of you beautiful ladies have just kicked cancers ass! What are you going to do now?"....
"WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!"

I'm an original Parrothead - first concert was Jimmy Buffet in Hollywood, Florida, 1973 give or take, lol!
DaniCalifornia, the chemotherapy agents target the body's rapidly dividing cells, which are cancer cells, but also healthy cells like hair follicles, nail beds and the GI tract. That's the reason for the hair loss, nail changes and GI problems such as diarrhea and heartburn.
I had both thumbnails turn dark, almost black. Also I have little dark "lines" going from side to side on each of my other fingernails that seem to correspond to each cycle of chemotherapy, and I think my left toenail is lifting. I just kept nail polish on them during chemo. If you go to a nail salon for your mani/pedi's, you won't be able to go once chemo starts because of the risk of infection, so make sure you get it done before the first round.
This is my thumbnail at chemo #4. The dark area got bigger as the nail grew out.

It was either Ozzy or Kiss, in South Bend Indiana 1986. ROCK ON!!
Appointment at 9:45, I hope I get rid of this drain.......it's draining, but it could be worse, so I'll keep trucking on, and keep moving as Toby Mac says!!!!! Lift up you head, it's not over yet!!!!
Earth Wind and Fire was my last concert
