Wow Docmama-You have got to be so proud of him! Sounds like you and hubby have done a fine job raising him. My son is 20yo and I think my BC has affected him significantly. It's not so much what he says but how he has shown so much grown up genuine concern and love and helps me out with the farm chores and also taking care of my aging parents. My dad had a near tragic tractor mishap today and the tractor actually took out the whole back wall of his barn. He was just getting ready to plow his baby girl's garden-me. Thank God he wasn't hurt and my son came right over to help get the mess straightened out. Don't know what I'd do without him.

Thinking of you all starting chemo or rads and some of you finishing rads this week. I found rads to be very tiring and it was worse towards the end. Take naps whenever you can. Hang in there to those still waiting on a plan.

Good luck to the surgery girls this week-pamela and Bevmom! Remember the Cabanas......the frosty beverages will be waiting for you.

Cowboyup-I also have 2 horses and it's amazing how much I've missed mucking stalls! I was at the barn today when my nephew came by to put the horses in the barn for me and it seems that my big boy, Elroy has redeveloped his nasty habit of rushing into the stall like something crazy. He is big enough to really hurt you when he pulls his shenanigans. I can't wait to get back in service to get his manners straightened back out. Horses have always been my therapy when going through tough times, need them now more than ever. Hope you are able to enjoy your horses again soon!

I know many of you are having a hard time dealing with the Tamoxifen decision. I took it 10yrs ago after Lump and rads. I stayed on it about 2 years and then went off of it to attempt having another baby. Honestly the only problem I experienced was feeling moody, irritable, and mildy depressed. It may not have been the med at all but rather just the whole BC ordeal. In the end, we did not have another child and I did not resume Tamoxifen as I was supposed to for 3 more years. Now, here I am with a recurrence. Will never know if taking the med for the entire 5 years would have prevented it. Everyone has different experiences. I really did not experience any physical side effects. So, I would suggest you educate yourself but don't read too deeply on side effects and give it a try if your MO suggests it-they will usually give you all the statistics regarding recurrence rates with and without it. For those that had pure DCIS and a BMX-it may not be suggested at all. If you had lump or UMX and are ER/PR+. it will likely be suggested.

Shellybeans-you look beautiful. Looks like you have found a great place.

Love all you ladies dearly! Sleep well!

Shelleybeans, absolutely gorgeous! She does sound like an angel....btw your insurance may reimburse you for some of the cost. Have the MO write you a prescription for "medical cranial prosthesis." You have to have that language bc the policies generally cover prosthetics.

Thanks Pugsmama - I have an rx and actually this was one of the 12 shops on his list. I think my insurance will pay $500 so that helped me justify it as well. I am definitely going to submit it.

Good luck tomorrow! Thinking about you and will be sending calming and easy-going vibes! We are right at two weeks apart so I'll definitely watch your progress.

Shellybeans - stunning, beautiful! The first wig I tried on I looked like Daniel Boone. 🤢 My brother lives in Orlando - wished I did for the services. I ordered an expensive wig (hoping it will work) . I'm going to request wine at my head shaving event!

Docmama - wow, what a story. Obviously a little good parenting involved there!

shellbelle - soooo gorgeous!!! I would never guess that was a cranial prosthesis, lol!!! The owner of the boutique sounds like a dream. A very welcome angel!

Pugsie- I'm sorry, I thought today was your first day - good luck tomorrow!!!

I'm cleaning up all the papers on my table and came across the big packet they gave me when first diagnosed. I feel like we have all come so far since then and learned so much!! Amazing how scared and naive you are when you first start, and now we have a whole new language and understanding. I will never love walking through the doors of a hospital, but at least now I can do it without my knees knocking together!! Power on ladies!!

Shellybeans- I would never know it was a wig, looks so natural. I'm glad you had a good day, you deserve it. You look beautiful! I have my chemo class today....I might leave during the walk through. Shellybeans thanks for all the heads up. This chemo crap on the horizon is so the unknown, it terrifies me somewhat.

Docmama- what blessed parents you are.

Docmama--beautiful and inspiring words from your son. What a great example you and your husband have been to him. Sniff sniff.

Shellybeans--that wig rocks! It looks so natural and you look beautiful. I'm glad you will have that to get you through this time. I'll be picking mine up in about 2 weeks. My place does it the same way. Did you cry when your hair came out?

Pugs--you know I've got your back today.

Bevmomduck--thank you. I do feel brave right now. Day three post chemo---no negative effects yet......

docmama: your son's words!!! I sent the phrase,

"Love is the ultimate team-building exercise, so find someone that'll catch you every time."

to my girls. 2 are married and one is so in love and looking at marriage - great words for anyone to hear!

Lisabekind: thanks for that link. I've got a folder on my iPad desktop filled with bc info - saved it there.

Shellyb: totally gorgeous hair! It will be so cool to have the option to put that on and feel more like yourself 👍🏼. What a compassionate angel - the shop owner. That is love in action, right there.

Pugsm: peace to you in chemo today. You have a lot of strong ladies pulling for you

hi ladies! 'Rough day yesterday, so stayed away... but here i am with my morning coffee and looking at a Gorgeous shelllybeans and reading docmama's story about her lovely boy, and wish I had come to the board for cheer yesterday! Love you ladies.

Had to cancel my PS appt this week, cause these drains just wont stop... I'm in my forth week post-surgery, still can[t get below 30 cc daily. But those of you with the seromas remind me that I'm gonna drain regardless, so I should just let the drains do their job... but god I hate them.

Meeting with my BS ;today to discuss MOs... worried because I don[t feel educated enough on ILC vs. IDC treatments... but imagine my education will be forthcoming very quickly. I forgot who spoke up in the last few days encouraging those of us who are ER/PR+ to take MO recommendations on tamoxifen or other hormone treatments... but I agree... gonna try to muscle through whatever it takes to put this permanently behind me.

PugsMama, thinking of you tons... you got this... Surgery girls, you got this too! I was a late-comer to this board, and I cant imagine a better group of ladies to hoe this row with.... they will be serving up the cold beverages for you shortly. I know I've forgotten someone ... but strength and love to everyone starting their next steps.

    XO

DocMama - a mother's dream! What a beautiful son you and DH have raised. Some people go through life without ever really seeing what love is all about. You son has got it! Just open your eyes and see the true love around you!

PugsMama - you words are always so uplifting you can momma me anytime! Thinkingof you today....you got this!

Shellybeans - ooh la la! Runway ready!

Cowboyup - don't tell on me and I won't tell in you! BC won't stop us!

Annoyingboob -most important MY GIRL IS COMING HOME TODAY!!!! SHE WILL BE HERE AT NOON!!! Crying as I type this. I'm getting ready to run get her a 75% valentine's day gift. ...don't tell!

    Bevmomduck-hope you are doing well!

BeachBabyK - did you have a drain to start with? I wish I understand this whole drain difference. I had the lumpectomy and had 1 drain. The first say I had 25mil second day 14mil third day 7mil the forth day 2.5mil when I got up by 1 o'clock nothing in the bulb so I called and ask if it need to be checked. They said come in and I had it removed. So what make one boob drain more than another?? I drank TONS of water from the mintue I got home. I want to get all the crap flushed out of my system. TMI I drank so much I peed a couple of times on my pj's cause I could move fast enough to the bathroom lol! So I am sending the fluid suckling fairy aka FSF your way!

Alli- glad your Dad was ok and you son is there to help.

    MUCH LOVE LADIES

Hello my friends, I'm here in my comfy chair in the infusion room. The nurses are angels! My appt was 8:15am, between the bloodwork & seeing the nurse, didn't get rolling until 9:45am. Right now I'm just getting saline. Sent DH home, between the pugs & his 92 y.o. dad who lives with us, it's too long a time for all 3 of them to be alone LOL. Personally, I'm happy to have some alone time. Like the surgery, totally apprehensive ahead of time but totally at peace today. Of course my BP is up, so on some level, I'm still stressed, I guess.

Love you all & thanks for being with me! See you in the cabana later! Get my umbrella drink ready!

I just had a horrible scare.  The hospital calls me and tells me that insurance is denying my surgery because it is marked as a pre-existing condition and I changed insurance policies after I was diagnosed.  We have to pick our insurance for the next year through my husbands company in October and I was diagnosed in November.  I said I thought that Obamacare made it so that they can't deny for pre-existing conditions.  She told me that the larger insurance companies have a longer time to comply.  I felt so sick to my stomach.  She asked me who we had before an I couldn't remember.  She looked up past claims and thank God that it was with the same company so they cannot deny it.  She gave me our old number and told me what to say when I called them.  I called them and they said it was not being held for that reason.  It was being held because they wanted to make sure I didn't have any other insurance which my husband had called them on a few days ago already.  Just pay the claim already.  They have taken my monthly payments for years without me asking much out of them.  Well visits and an occasional sick appointment.  Why is it that when they actually have to pay for something big, they have to always give you a hard time?  Still don't know what is going on but insurance company said it has been resubmitted.  Arrrrgggghhhh!

PugsMama- I thought of you today while I got my Herceptin...how long was your infusion? I just found out today that my favorite infusion nurse is leaving. You really do create a connection with the nurses when you go through chemo. I hope that your's are awesome!

Varga -great pic. Glad she's home!

Cowboy- So glad things worked out. I was concerned about the insurance thing, but we decided to stick with the same insurance since I was going through treatment.

    3bears - hoping you stay SE-free!!!

ugh. Cowboy. Insurance companies are evil incarnate! They try so ferociously to get out of paying everything. Criminals, every last one!!

Varga, that's so interesting she has angelmans - my cousin has a daughter with some syndrome no one can figure out and I remember seeing something on 20/20 or 60 minutes about angelmans, and I'm convinced that's what she has - they said one of the hallmarks is absolute trust and unconditional love, and his daughter just loves running up to everyone and giving hugs and kisses. I'm happy she's back home with you!!

Pugsmama, hope you survived day 1.

3 bears, hope you are hanging in there. Drink lots of fluids and keep your protein intake up!!

I ate an ice cream sandwich today and was halfway through it before I remembered I wasn't going to eat ice cream anymore!!! Dammit!! Gonna call ps about that tummy tuck now..

Varga - what a beautiful picture! I have to say that while I was recovering from my BMX I was most depressed when my daughter wasn't here. I needed her presence and it completely changed me. I understand completely the need to have your baby close to you.

My daughter is so worried about me and cracked me up today. She wants to take care of me so I explained that I need my mom here in the event she needs to drive me somewhere. She immediately said - like the hospital when we took you to the Emergency room? ( I had to go the day after I was discharged due to severe pain and I think it really left a bad memory for her). Anyway, she said that she could tie her old wagon to her bike and I could sit in the wagon and she would pull me to the hospital on her bike. I laughed so hard imagining me in the back of the wagon with her pulling me along.

Today was my first day alone - just me and my daughter. My parents have been staying with me - my mom the first week and my dad every few days. I love them to pieces but I was so happy to have my house back. I was able to run a few errands and I napped all afternoon before doing the school pick up. They come back on Sunday my mom can take me for my port Monday and PET Scan Tuesday. Then she's going to be on hand after the first infusion. It looks like everyone has the post-chemo "fall" around the third or fourth day and I'm afraid of how I'm going to do. I organized my pill keeper today and cleaned out my bathroom. Can't even imagine how much hair product I threw out. Just wanting to get everything organized - gives me a sense of control.

Have my second fill on Friday - so my baby boobies will grow a little more. I'm calling it the puberty fast-track. A to C in three weeks!

Have a great evening everyone. To all starting (Pugsmama) and ongoing with chemo - hugs to you. To all in rads - you've got this. And to all in the surgery waiting area or wrapping up - drinks for everyone!
