Good morning everyone, like some others I did much better in the hospital than my first night home. I thought I could take one rather than two Percocet pills. Very bad idea. Hit a solid 7 and moving was awful. A struggle to lie down in bed, was wishing for a recliner!!Took a bit to get ahead of it, but now I'm OK.
Anyway, I woke up with what looks like a pretty bizarre ridge at the top of my TE. I will send a photo to my PS when they open in an hour but has anyone else had this happen? I wasn't expecting it. (Maybe because I was so focused on surgery and side effects, I was paying less attention to some of the things women have dealt with with the TEs?)

reporting in from my first day after overhaul. Was up to pee 5 ( blue of course) times in the night, with drains (only2!), telemetry wires and Iv - what a craziness that was!
I have nothing covering the un boobs so I looked immediately and was pleasantly surprised! Kinda very small normal. ICouldn't even see a bandage cause that's at the underwire place. But Then this morning- oh well that's another story. Bruises, bumps and generally weird but so be it, the monsters gone!!

Pamela- stay ahead of the pain for sure. I'm super woman (so I think) and my DH woke me up every 5-6 and gave me 1 pain pill. I'm not even sure what I was taking. I just took it. I am clueless about your hump. I'm a lumpectomy girl. Hope you get a response haven't we all worried enough? !?!
Bevmomduc- good to hear from you! I didn't have blue pee. I pee a bunch to! I went over board with water a organic Gatorade. I wanted all that stuff out of my body.
Heal and reat girls!

RoseBowl16 - funny how we both posted similar concerns back to back. I'm very nervous also having had a flap procedure - i only get one shot at this and terrified of what happens if this incision doesnt close (
Sending lots of prayers & healing energy your way that things go smoothly from here on out!!!

Happy to see youre ok too Bevmom! sounds like you're doing perfectly with the water prescription to flush it all out. I've been up-and-down a lot too.
I was also pleasantly surprised. The PS says he was able to add more than he expected so I am uneven, but have a little something. (including this ridge which I'm sure I will learn about in an hour or two!)
and with my pain now under control and a good nights rest, I am so very very happy the surgery is over. its been nice to get personal shout outs from many of you on this thread. The pioneers who went before us!

So good to hear from you Feb 16th girls! I hope recovery just gets better and better...definitely stay ahead of the pain and be good to yourself! Don't try to over do it when the pain meds kick in!

Bevmomduc & Pamela - congrats! BTW - the ridge looks like the top of the TE or your drain. Mine went high like that too. I was convinced my drain was on the side but it was the TE sort of folded in on itself and the top was the drain. Went away when they filled and removed the drain.
Glad you are sending a picture - they will be able to tell you.
PLEASE stay on the pain meds. It will make a world of difference - don't back off the first 3 days. Just my advice - you don't want to get behind.
Hugs to you both!

Pamela & Bevmomduck! Yay...it's over! see you in the cabana! One piece of advice. Don't overdo or you'll drain too much which will delay their removal...gentle hugs to you both

thanks pugs mama! I'll save that for next week when they actually start zapping me. In the meantime, I just look at dog pics to make me smile - isn't this one cute?

I am so thankful that I am not boarding the chemo train. I got my prescription for the Tamoxifen. They gave me a lot of info to read on it and I discussed my bad reactions to medicines and they said I can start taking it every other day at first to let my body get used to it. I'm going to give it a 3 month try and see how it goes. She says if I have bad side effects to come bad and we will figure something else out. Not starting it until after radiation.
I also met with the radiation oncologist and I will have 6 weeks of regular radiation. Have my simulation next Friday and will start the week of the 6th. Have to do radiation on my stomach because they say that breasts that have had plastic surgery don't always move the way they need them too. Get tattoos on my back.
I feel like I have a huge weight lifted off of me. I'm happy to be starting the rest of this journey and catch up to all mall gals on here.

annoyingboob - love the boots! Good luck with the XT plan. The dog pic was to funny!
Cowboyup - you have a plan!!! I will get mine next week...I hope (do I really?!?)
PugsMama- hope you are feeling well and adjusting to the new normal.
I had alot bs (bullshit not breast surgeon) to take care of today. I'm home with my girl cuddling in the recliner watching My 600 pound Life. Mindless tv maybe we will fall asleep.

You ladies are my people!

That's right Varga...we are a gang! Enjoy those snuggles with your girl today!
Cowboy-up....fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted on how the Tomoxifen goes for you but I hope you don't notice a thing! You will be graduating before you know it! It feels so good when things are moving along doesn't it?
Annoyingboob, you start next week!! Seems like it went by fast...well maybe not so much for you but I know how ready you've been to get going so I'm glad to see it's next week now!
More from the other side: I went to physical therapy for my cording today. I got the weirdest feeling that I did not like as I entered the building. The "medical" smell...my stomach dropped and I had to kind of steady myself for a moment. The PTSD thing we've brought up a few times...I believe it. It's only been a couple days but I got a whiff of that building and it was not good. I will continue physical therapy 3 days a week so I'm hopeful that I can prepare myself next time and it won't be as big of a deal but I just wanted to share for you guys in the future...it may a smell or another something that triggers your mind. I just took some deep breaths and it was over quickly but I was quite surprised by it.
I hope all is well with everyone today! I just got back to work yesterday but I'm very glad it's Friday already. I think this was good having a couple of days to dip my toes into the real world and then a couple days to step away and let it all sink in a little more.

Yay cowboy - no chemo! I'm taking so long, you will probably catch up to me! I will be done with xrt march 3 and then will start tamoxifen. My mo did not give me much helpful info at all, so I like hearing your tips. I read from someone else to split the dose and take half in am and half in pm to lessen SE. Then I met with PMD to ask about fibroids getting bigger and she says 'that's news to me, but you have done your homework and probably know more about this than I do '. Great....
Lisa, congrats on a clear pet scan!!! I hope it's contagious and that everyone is so lucky - was it shelleyb who is up next for a pet?
Yes fightingirl. The smell sets me off. And lying on the xrt table when then machine spins around you and the table moves - DISLIKE!!! The least they could do is paint a pretty mural on the ceiling. I'm a counter, so I counted everything on that ceiling a zillion times - 6 sided exhaust fan, 2 cameras, 4 lights. Thank god they were all even numbers bc if I count odd numbers I start over until it's even - lol. Little OCD mind games to pass the time. Thank god I only have 5 sessions bc I really did not like my plan verification today. Not painful or anything, but the ptsd we all get. I think bc I was free for 2 weeks and living normally that now being back in the hospital makes it sink in that I'm not yet done. Enough already!!!

I forgot to mention - they gave me this cream for after. says it won't prevent burning but will help discomfort if I should get it .

A-boob: I know what you mean. I didn't mind the post-surgery / pre-treatment fantasy bubble of pretending I was all done either! Hang in there, you'll be graduating before you know it!!! Xoxo.

well, the good news is that I've started planning my post treatment life and that feels good! I made my appt to get my visa for France and hope to get the all clear for April! Now I know how you feel about looking forward to your cruise!!! It's soooo nice to have a non cancer related goal and timeline! And I even found a few girls on here getting their treatment in France, so our gang extends far and wide!! I hope I get tamoxifen side effects sorted before I leave, but if not, I'm figuring out where to go over there. so let's hope it's smooth sailing until then!!

Lisabekind:we'll be there with open arms welcoming you! What's your cocktail going to be? Do you know yet? 3bears & I are 2 weeks ahead of you...

Lisabekind - congratulation on the clear scans! I am so very happy for you! We will be a day apart on the chemo - I start 2/28 - let us know your cocktail.
My PET is next week. I'm trying not to think about it - but it doesn't stay very far from my mind.
Just woke up from my post-fill nap (I'm pretty sore - not bad just aware of them more) so I need to catch up on everyone.
