Thanks for your experience farmdream!! May you continue your second bottle with little SE!
So, I'm getting into this neuroplasticity book. Basically, in patients with chronic pain, you can actually rewire your brain to not experience the pain. It's almost like a mindfulness or other meditation practice. Kinda fascinating. I'm reading it and thinking about all you girls with TE pain and wonder if you could apply some of the techniques. I'm still just chapter 1, but I'll keep you posted if I come across any insights.its called ' the brains way of healing' by dr Norman doidge.

DCBC: I think my TEs are comfy bc they're air-filled. They're light as a feather... Maybe your PS would be willing to swap the saline for air -that might help the discomfort.
Cowboy-Up: thanks for sharing the happy moments! Your daughters are beautiful!
RoseRN: I'm looking at Arimidex down the road too!

fightingirl, my mo told me that I should, feel, comfortable using an estrogen cream if I found vaginal dryness to be an issue... but I would definitely check with your mo... I think all of these things are such low level estrogen that it is potentially not a big deal.. at least that is what he told me. Same thing for soy or soy products... but check to be sure. There is always good ol,lube too 😬😜

Beautiful pictures!!! i'm taking my baby girl dress shopping tomorrow. She goes to a very small private school for high-functioning kids on the spectrum and they are having a "prom" at the end of March. I'm worried I'll be down with chemo SE's so we are going to buy her dress tomorrow.
As for neuroplasticity - you are speaking my language! We have bene applying this to kids with autism for a while as a lot of what my daughter deals with is just a "wiring" problem and we are always looking for ways to create new neuropathways for her. I never considered applying it to pain, though it does make sense. I'll tell you what works for her is occupying both sides of her brain - the physical and the thinking. I'll give a quick example. When she was first diagnosed with autism one test she was given was to name animals in the sea. I knew she could not do it without verbal queuing and promoting. She just could not do it. They they had her walk on a balance beam heal-toe just a couple inches off the floor. They asked her to walk and name animals found in a tree. I was convinced that again she could not do it without help. But, sure enough when she was concentrating on walking heal-toe on the beam, she was able to name animals I didn't even know she knew anything about. I was astounded! So yes - there is something to opening new neuropathways that we don't really undertand. There is a lot to the idea that physical activity promotes better mental health. I'm guessing it can also apply to many other things. The more we engage the physical part of the brain it becomes harder for it to simultaneously process the thoughtful (pain realization).
I'll be interested in seeing how i might use it to manage chemo SE's. I'm going to give it a little research. Thanks for the idea!

Fightingirl - wouldn't a lubricant counteract the vaginal dryness? Although, I thought I read that decreased libido is also a potential side effect. So that also stinks.
Something I read on another board that those of you starting (or considering starting) tamoxifen may want to consider: some people start with half dose to help heir bodies adjust.
Just a thought.

Hello,
I am a nurse with lots of research hours in to help my patients who are using or are considering use of cannabis for sleep, pain, cancer and such. I don't know how much information you already have ~~ but feel free to ask any questions. If you have never used it much before it can be kind of overwhelming. Just know that pre-clinical research is showing that using only high-THC cannabis can tend to encourage tumor growth but adding in at least equal parts of CBD (milligrams of THC and CBD) is considered safest. For some women they are doing a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 THC:CBD to help. Most are getting two products, usually tincture or oil, one each of high-THC and high-CBD so they can adjust doses. I don't wish to data dump here but hope this helps I hope you have a knowledgeable nurse practitioner or doctor to help guide you, but I know those are in short supply. Ask away ~~

yes, shelleyb - you might want to look into this authors first book - 'the brain that changes itself' - I haven't read it, but I think there is a section with an autistic pt. I want to read that one too, bc it has a section on anxiety, which I got last summer before all this bcbs began. I skipped ahead in this book to this really interesting section on electrical stimulation of your tongue to rewire your brain. fascinating. they don't sell the device yet, still testing it, but a friend of mine suggested I use a vibrator on my tongue and see if that worked - lol. not sure im quite ready for that!!! this book isn't as cool as the ones by oliver sachs - he had really fascinating stories about his neuro patients and odd syndromes. but it is neat to learn that the brain can change, bc they always thought it was so rigid. so chronic pain, ms, stroke, parkinsons - these are all conditions they are exploring with electric stimulation. I totally buy into it, and that's why ive been trying meditation/mindfulness and am trying to embrace my inner Buddha. my cousins daughter who I think has angelmans did well with hippotherapy - where you ride horses - I think its the same idea behind what you describe of using lots of parts of brain - have you tried that with your daughter??

now where else can you make amazing friends, see their beautiful pics and puppies and daughters learn so many cool things?? I seriously love you all more every time I get on here!
Beautifulbooks, I just started cannabis oil research on Friday....very interested!! I'm in AZ so assume I'd need a medical card...i would want to make sure I get the right dosage. I read a lot about stefanie LaRue who is metastatic stage4 breast cancer And has pretty high claims on its use.
Annoyingboob and Shellybeans, I have a friend that suffered from sever anxiety and went to a counselor for that and it's helped her tremendously. She did not name it specifically but when I was reading both your posts I believe that was it...it was basically retiring her brain in a sense...using different pathways. I may also download that book...very interested there as well!!
This place is a treasure trove of amazing women with all kinds of wonderful things to add! I'm all about anything natural. Has anyone with sleep problems tried the isochronic beats/tones yet? I think I mentioned them a few pages back...I downloaded an app and seriously have slept so good and hard it's amazing! I'm typically a very light sleeper and have struggled with sleep for more than 10 years now. Tried valerian melatonin and all kinds of stuff with no luck. If you have issues sleeping I highly recommend trying it...I am just using the free stuff to better test and may buy some if it continues. So far it's been maybe 4-5 days but that's really great for me to sleep that's good for that long!
Thank you cowboy and varga for sharing your pics...such beautiful girls and like everyone said beautiful mamas!
Sleep tight all...just got home from dinner with friends and first time out in awhile I got bit by something on my neck!! Spent the whole time itching like crazy. Was nice to see everyone but better luck next time,,,

fightingirl, check out 'binaural beats', too. seems to be 'a thing' in my woowoo mindfulness research.

Fightingirl--- I'm sorry you're struggling with this tamoxifen decision so. This is how I felt when trying to decide which surgery to have. Once I made a decision, I felt a lot better. It will come to you. Trust your instincts for whatever is right for you.

What a wonderful thing to wake up to today (yes- I slept IN, woke up at 8:45). I've been following a Facebook page called Cancer Grad. They have something called Wisdom Wednesdays and this month the topic was our body image and sex after chemo. They also post the videos to their YouTube channel. Here is the link to the first video in the series called "Cancer Stole My Mojo"
Our daughters are beautiful, aren't they? Vargadoll, that is such a beautiful picture! I can't wait for grand babies!
Cowboyup, I hardly ever watch say yes to the dress but yesterday they were having a marathon on Lifetime I think and I saw a few episodes last night. I got teary-eyed just watching these girls and their Moms, I can only imagine the puddle of tears I'll be when this one says yes to her dress:

We all have such beautiful children. Human and furrry. We may have not gotten lucky with the cancer but we sure are lucky in many other areas of our lives.

Here is the new giraffe - born 6 feet tall!! Just be glad your babies were human!!!

Love that giraffe!
Spent today dress shopping with my girl. We had such a nice day together. And I bought myself some new bras! I am a 36 C after my surgery and two fills! I actually look like I have a little rack here! Wacoal has some pretty ones that do not have underwire. The ones I love the most comes in pink and black - here is a link. I like it because I actually don't look like I had a BMX and felt pretty. And it's kind of nice feeling pretty - even if no one sees it.
Just wanted to share!!

Wow Shellybeans , it's so cool that you're already all done with your reconstruction! And your surgery was 20 days after mine. I took a screenshot of those bras. When I'm ready, I'm going to order one in every size! They're pretty and they look comfortable.
Docmama- your daughter is darling!
Thanks for the giraffe A boob!
I'll try to get a picture of my 16 yr old handful.
