Just picture the robot from "Lost in Space". I feel like running around the house, arms flailing yelling Mayday, Mayday! Houston we have a problem is so much more subdued, I like my robot scenario better. I'll keep everyone posted as to what my PS says on Friday.

I also bought $20 of Powerball tickets this morning on my way to work. Bungalows for everyone!

annoyingboob! Good luck with the powerball...I tried on Saturday and you best believe if I'd won we'd be making that trip! Sadly, I was not a winner. I forgot to get a ticket today. If you don't win tonight, I'll try again Saturday!

ok, sorry girls for hijacking this thread with inane nonsense, but im obsessed with these fainting goats and find similarity to their reaction when startled - the brown one in this video is how I feel in between treatments - barely get up, then faceplant.

edited to say I won $4 on lottery, so will buy more this weekend if no one wins...

I am completely perplexed by these fainting goats. Did she train them to do that? It totally cracks me up!

they are called myotonic goats and have a condition that when they are startled, their muscles tense up and they fall over. It's a genetic thing. They don't truly pass out.

I honestly spent several hours last night and tonight watching videos of them!!! I figured you fellow animal lovers may enjoy them too, as it's something to giggle over while you pass the time in hospital or nesting in bed. Now I REALLY want a farm so I can get lots of these little guys.

I showed a girl at the hospital this video and we were in tears laughing. Then she told me about 'goats of anarchy' which is a lady who rescues goats and posts cute pics of their progress on instagram. There is another crazy goat video I saw with goats jumping on a metal sheet in the yard. They didn't faint, just really cute and playful.

Just a silly diversion from the C word. I feel like we all could use a little break.

And now back to your scheduled programming....

    Xxoo

Aboob - thank you!!! Laughter truly is the best medicine! Keep it coming!

One of my teams at work sent me a gift box yesterday and they included a David Seders book I had not read - along with a lot of funny things. They wanted to make sure I kept my sense of humor. I also got one of those boob scarves! I'll post a picture soon.

One other thing - I received some knitted knockers but I don't need them. If anyone wants them please PM me and send me your address and I will gladly forward them. I you are not undergoing reconstruction they are suppose to be better than a prosthesis. They are for a C-D cup and I can tell you they look really big right now but you take out the stuffing and adjust them to your size. They were made by volunteers and they are very soft. I have the instructions for care so I just need to pack them up and mail them. If you had a UMX then you can get both and rotate them - there's not a "Left boob" and "right boob" LOL. (Unlike Left Shark - remember that??)

    Hugs to all

I cannot really express how your deep expressions of love and care have been. Thank you for all your sweet words! It's a little surreal but we are walking through each day as it comes. AND-- couple of hrs before the memorial service on Monday- I will get my drains out, you all know the fashion problem that now presents..... what matches red eyes, not great hair control and flat boobs? Any suggestions appreciated

Subject change: Does anyone else's ps insist on absolutely nothing on under your clothes? No compression bra (I had 110 per side in surg, I think), no camisole with pockets, just air for healing. It's been seemingly great for me but I started wondering if I was the only one. Again with the fashion issue for monday

Also- same dynamo ps got me hooked up for a week's worth of hyperbaric sessions to help facilitate healing for my previously radiated skin and prepare for the TE change-out. I'm starrting to feel like I found the ps treasure box!

Y'all- the goats! 😂 Thanks for all the laughs since I've been out

    very funny.

Animals have their own mind. For example, my sister in laws saw my dog getting pampered because of sore muscles. This dog walked as if one of her hindleg was broken. When we dropped her off at in laws house within 15 min, this dog hopped off on her own no problem and trooted into her house!!

Hi Bevmomduck, thank goodness you are getting your drains out soon. I too, had nothing under my clothes. The ps didn't "insist", but didn't recommend. I had 200cc on one side, 150cc on other side at surgery. He used the vacuum dressings on my IMF incisions, I think that is why I got my drains out on day 5!!!! While I was in the hospital I actually ASKED for a compression bra though, I thought it might help with the pain. After I got home from hosp and had my 1st post op appt, the PS said I could wear a bra or not, it didn't matter, whatever I was comfortable with. I bought 3 or 4 soft t back sports bras on clearance at Walmart last summer and they work great for me now!! Pre surgery they didn't look so hot because my boobs were so flabby from breastfeeding lol. But now with my perky firm expanders they look great! My exchange is most likely coming in April, am expanded to 350 now, want to get me to 500 and then exchange.

The hyperbaric sounds GREAT!! I am glad you found that PS, you did hit the jack pot! As for fashion suggestions, not to be flippant by any means but a hat, sunglasses, a comfy cami and loose top. God be with you <3

aww, bevmom, thanks for checking in. I'm glad you are hanging in there.

I think I'd go dramatic with the look - buy a big black widebrimmed hat and get some enormous Jackie o sunglasses. The pearls, of course, and then a semisheer black top - everyone will be checking you out anyway, why not give them something to look at??!! But really, a black cami under a lbd should be perfect, no? I know you southern women know how to dress to perfection, and I'm sure you will rock whatever you decide.

Amazing you are even up and out of bed a week post op, much less going through all of this. I am sending you a warm gentle hug and wishing peace upon you and your extended family. Xxoo

Bevmomduc- first and foremost, hugs to you. As for the upper commando - as I'm calling it - my ps never put me in any compression at all. They wanted me to go bare. Said that I can wear one now - but only if I want to - but it must not have underwire (not that there's anything to support). I have been more comfortable without anything. I am pulling out all the button up shirts that never fully closed with out a "gap" I had to pin and am enjoying wearing them sans bra. I do have two camis and a sports bra, but I have small seroma under my right arm that gets irritated. In fact, my new foob skin is really sensitive! I seem to not do well with anything. I keep thinking I need to start wearing something so I don't get too used to this.

As for what to wear - basic lbd, pearls, sunglasses, and your loving disposition will be perfect.

I guess because I had immediate reconstruction w/implants, I was told by my ps that I was supposed to be wearing the post surgical bra 24/7 for the first 6 weeks. How come all y'all get to freewheel???

    dcbc Member Posts: 122

bevmomduck - you are a wonder. Wear something comfortable... Thinking of you.

Re: bras, Imwas told to go bare until I became the worlds biggest drainer... at which point ps gave me a fill and a compression bra to keep space in there to a minimum.

Did anyone else have to holes from the drains continue to leak after removal? As instructed, I removed the gauze one day after drain removal, and one side ha a steady drip going... promptly got out the freshgauze and some extra large tapey things to keep it under wraps... danger will Robinson indeed!

Sadly, the daughter has gone back to school... miss her.

dcbc- YOU are the wonder - I'm starting to think your boobs are connected to your intestines. Does the fluid draining out those holes smell like margaritas??!!

  • PugsMama
    PugsMama Member Posts: 337

dcbc: mine did a little at first....easier to just put a panty liner in the bra (assuming the bra covers the drain holes)

Btw... I'm still in a bra 24/7! Wtf!!! Although I graduated" to a stretchy one early on. I think bc my TEs are pre-pecs & the alloderm had to set...

just wanted to pop in and say hi! Miss chatting with you all more! It's been nonstop at work and with PT 3 days a week, by the time I get to the office I never get to catch my breath!

Went for my post brachy appt with RO today. He says everything looks good and I still have to see him in a month. At that point he will give me my slip for my mammo at 6 months post-op. Already not looking forward to that! Everything is still pretty tender so can't imagine them being squished up. Have to say a huge reason I seriously considered mastectomy. Now I'm reading about you all going bra less! I made the wrong call I think.

"Normal" life is going pretty well. I guess I don't feel all the way there yet on account of the cording in my arm but I'm trying to embrace that I have gotten past the hardest parts. Tried to do some walk/run intervals with my dog the other night and my poor boobie hurt after so another reminder that I'm still recovering. Other than that, I'm back to work and the grocery store nearly every night of the week! For 2 people we eat a lot I guess! Seems I always have to stop for something! I am still off my game as far as planning meals and all that but I imagine in time I will get there. Not that I want to...would have rather won that powerball and hired a chef!!

    Love and miss you all!

LOL -- It is decidedly NOT Margaritas! Good tip, Pugsmama... easier than the tapey things! will see if I can get that to work.

BTW, all, my medical marijuana card came this week, and went to the dispensary yesterday for a variety of 'products'... am trying to figure out how best to get a good night's sleep w/out narcotics or sleeping pills... it's been fun :) But was still up at 4:00 this morning... will try again tonight.

I'm in on the powerball! Keep popping in Fightingirl! we would miss you! (also, the pot did wonders for my cording... can you get your hands on some?)

    XO

You all are talking about going commando up top. Lol. I finally after 5 weeks was able to sleep braless after my reduction.

Tomorrow I get my radiation simulation and tatoos. I'm calling my tattoos my star constalllation tatto. He said about 5 dots. Wonder if it will look like the Big Dipper.
