I am still in pain from my last yoga session, but still moving. How do you do it, Z, with 90 minutes? Congrats on acing the test, Paula.

I start with 10-20 minutes for a couple of weeks. At least I do now with all these drugs and the general decline of my health. That said, yesterday I did 30 minutes of yoga in the sauna and that was it for the day.
Today will be a light day as well.

Hi ladies!
Went for a long walk to get coffee this morning and met a neighbor who raises roses...his yard smelled like heaven.
Went to Denver this evening to meet up with new friends from the Live by Living Cancer survivor retreat/hike near Breckenridge last weekend.
(Check out Live by Living on Facebook and let me know your thoughts. I'm hoping to take the concept back to illinois. It's been the best psychological boost since my Dx.) We walked through the Botanical Gardens and picnicked there afterwards. 10k steps two days in a row! Planning another hike tomorrow before Dr visit and Xgeva Friday. Good to hear about all the activity!!

Iwrite. Welcome to Denver. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful this time of year.
Ladies: Here is a study out of Copenhagen about the effect of moderate/intense exercise on tumor suppression in mice with HR+ tumors. Keep moving!

Mary. that is so cool. nothing gets me moving like data. thank you.
10,000 steps and 55 minutes of yoga while my daughter was in swim team practice. no sauna today, but sauna tomorrow. the sauna is really helping with my sleep and my energy. working it into my day almost daily now.
keep moving ladies.

I looked up the web site for Iwrite's Live by Living. Those retreats sound amazing, for mind and body. I need to figure out how to do something like that. It sounds like you get the benefits of camping i.e. hiking in beautiful places and not paying too much money for it; without all the work, since they provide cabins, cooking, gear toting, etc. That means you have energy left for hiking!
I'm still dancing, walking, and doing Iyengar yoga. When I walk out of yoga class, I walk taller and breathe deeper. Yoga keeps away the tired, downtrodden shoulder hunch. It makes me feel healthy.

Jogged 15 minutes. that's something.
45 minutes of yoga in a sauna has become straight forward.
strangely alert at midnight. possibly due to a lot of backbends in the sauna.
hi shetland.
keep moving ladies.

Z,
You are my inspiration taught gymnastics, worked as a supervisor nurse and bartended 17 this week, also managed to walk mile each day. Have a lot of dizziness, hope it's just sinus. Keep on moving everyone.
Paula.

Way to go Illimae! You are an inspiration

Thanks. There is definitely something to exercise keeping fatigue away. I'm planning my 2nd 5k next month even if I can't get a single "healthy" friend to join me. Lazy bums, lol

Gives new meaning to the phrase, "Run for your life!" doesn't it?
0 -
It does! Some friends and coworkers have said my activity level through chemo and radiation surprises them, I said you stop, you die. I'm only half kidding but as we say, keep moving

There is a line in the song "What a Feeling" from Flashdance where she sings, "Now I'm dancing for my life". I think she means dancing from now on, but as for me, I hear it a little differently...

Illimae - sleep is solid too. looking good. you are out of the woods. a beacon of light to us all.
made my step goal. life is getting in the way of yoga this week.

Mama mia, Illimae. Wish I had exclamation marks working on my keyboard cuz I need them here.
Shetland, didnt know there was another meaning. I must put that song back on my playlist. Iyengar yoga, wow.
Salsa tonight.

The Iyengar yoga is customized, adapted to the students, sometimes using props. I'm lucky to have an amazing teacher. I took a salsa class years ago. It was fun. Some time this week I will blast that Flashdance song and dance around the room and think of you. Anyone else want to dance with us?
As you tell us Z, any moving you do is a win!

Just say the word when, Shetland, so I can dance, too.

Hi All!
I just got back from 5 days out in the Catskills, NY. We were there for a wedding, but were able to do lots of hiking around, so I got in my steps every day! I really so much prefer outdoor exercise. Wish I lived near mountains so I could do it more often, but I'll have to make do with my city walks for the most part. I think dancing around sounds like a fine idea. I'd kind of gotten out of the dance habit, but the wedding dancing made me remember how much I enjoy it. I might just go do that now!
I still haven't forgotten about putting a yoga sequence together, but I just haven't had much extra time, and I want to do it right. I will get to it this weekend, I hope. Would an audio mp3 be best, or would a pose guide be most helpful? Or maybe both?
Tomorrow, I'm going to a training for the Firefly Sisterhood. It's a local organization that pairs up somebody newly diagnosed with breast cancer with a mentor who has been through it themselves. I have so many people come to me with questions, already that I figured it would be good to get some training on how to be a more effective mentor. I'm hoping I find some like-minded exercise buddies!

DGHoff- I forgot how much I love to dance also. I'm still going to my 2 yoga classes per week- now that my HGB has increased from 7.5 to 9.6 I feel so much stronger in the class, less fragile. I have figured out that a higher calorie breakfast 2 hours before class and then 1/2 of an energy bar right before class and fluids during class has really helped me feel great through the whole class. Also still doing 4-5 mile walk or walk plus stair climbing- 5x 120 stairs every day. My neighborhood has a lot of these sets of stairs as short cuts for kids to get to school and they are great exercise opportunities.
I still want to do more of a home yoga sequence for the days I don't go to class. So far I do about 15 minutes of stretches before bed. So if you have time to make a sequence I am still interested.

New to yoga, so I would need a pose guide, pretty please

Very cool Z! Many of us are curious about your trip and treatment, please do update and enjoy
Meanwhile, I've increased my step goal back to the recommended 10,000 upon completing radiation. I had reduced it to 8,000 for chemo.

Oh, Z! I'd love to hear about your Japan trip! Cool!
llmae, that's awesome you are up to 10,000. I have a hard time finding time to get that many in, but I still aim for the 8,000. I got it in tonight by dancing. I felt just lousy after work today. Headache, drippy nose, and I was tempted to just go straight to bed. But I pushed myself a bit and just forced myself to move. I feel so much better now. There really is no better medicine than moving your body.
I am going to do a little yoga then off to bed. Nkb - I will try to put together a good sequence that will be accessible to everyone and maybe about 20 minutes long as I know everybody is pressed for time. I'll do a pose guide and maybe voice record as well. If I had a decent video setup I could do a youtube video, but I don't really have the right equipment for that.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
DeAnn

Post pics, Z and let us know how the treatment is going.
Illimae, I had no goal when I was doing chemo other than getting out the door. You've really got this!
DGHoff, dance steps are the best because you get an extra boost from the music.
Tango til late. Met some wonderful people to boot.

Hello all,
Went to Salida Colorado with DD2 today and after lunch and shopping we went hiking to Water Dog Lake. 14,000 steps, 3.5 miles, 1,100 foot elevation gain ending at 11,446 ft. Really could have used some decent red blood cells to process what little oxygen was available. Selfie at the top and then the sleet began.
Yep...that is snow in the background Six rainbows on the way back home with deer, antelope and buffalo playing... it was beautiful. I may not be able to move tomorrow. So worth it!

iWrite- wow-what an elevation gain! Takes a lot of oxygen carrying capacity (RBCs) to do that. Moving at 11,400 is an exercise in shortness of breath on a good day. Love the picture and the snow in the background.

Woohoo iwrite! Great pic too. I can imagine the animals playing in the background.
Going for a hike today too but without DD
