Hi! I love this thread. Thanks everyone for the inspiration.

I hike in the mountains everyday with my dog for an hour. I also do light yoga a few times a week. Usually I love my hikes and exercise. Now days, I can get extremely fatigued on certain days.

LovefromPhilly - I am also trying to figure out a pattern. It usually hits me hard on the week I take off from Ibrance when my RBC and WBC are usually at a low point.

Jensgotthis - I also get wiped out when I do more exercise than usual. I like to hike/bike/ski with friends on weekends. We usually exercise for a few hours at a time. Since I started Ibrance/Letrozole & Zoladex I have been declining exercise activities longer than 1.5 to 2 hours. I find that I pay for it over the following few days. I don't get a fever spike like you do - LovefromPhilly- but the fatigue is very harsh and discouraging.

I agree that we need to give our bodies more time to recover. With some resistance and stubbornness, I am trying to give my body more rest and time to recover.

I see several of you have been vacationing and exercising at higher elevations - awesome job!!! Lately, the heat and altitude combination contribute to my fatigue. Even though I am acclimated to the higher elevations, I think the altitude causes more fatigue when my RBC are low.

Keep on motivating and sharing everyone!

    ~Kar

Great to hear about all the mountain hiking! I am nearing the end of a two week family vacation to Black Hills, Yellowstone, Tetons, and Rocky Mountain National Park. We’ve done loads of hiking and My husband and I climbed Mt Ida yesterday at 12880 feet which totally wiped me out, but I’m still hangIng in there. We are all developing summer colds, it seems. Rafting is on the agenda today, but just class 1-3 rapids. I think i will need vacation to recover from vacation!

DG and Kar- Your recent workouts are inspiring!! I love the hikes when I’m alone on the trail...peaceful but probably dumb from a safety perspective. Then again, what is another disaster?

Tried Barr Trail next to the Incline in Manitou Springs. The inclne has a gazillion steps up the side of Pikes Peak, (our local fourteener.). Didn’t get get to the top but lasted an hour on the way up. Saturday I’m headed to a hut at about 11,500 for the weekend. Woo hoo! Love seeing what you are all doing!!

I love hearing about everyone's journeys to AWESOME places. I admire you for hiking so high in the mountains.

I went fly fishing this morning at a trout stream in iowa. It was awesome too. So beautiful, peaceful and renewed my soul.

    Keep on keeping on!

I have a broken metatarsal bone in my foot that is not healing. I am scheduled to get a pin in it next week. Has anyone else had this procedure? I'd like to know what to expect. Hurts a lot now and interferes with my quality of life. Hoping the pin aides the healing and I can return to some kind of regular walking routine.

Can someone recommend a good pair of hiking boots when I camp in Colorado? Something that will be easy on my feet, but provides good traction.

Divine- Ouch!! Hope it heals quickly!

Sandi- I like be the boots I got at REI- lightweight and I never have sore feet after hiking. Arthritic feet hurt like heck in all other shoes. They are Ahnu Vibram.

Had to cancel my hut hike this weekend due to a toothache that hurts from the temple to throat. Ouchy and very grouchy here 🤬 Hoping it’s a sinus thing since my dentist is in another state...he called in an antibiotic and I hope it works. This is day three. If this is that Xgeva related jaw thing, yikes! Missing my mountains today! Hope you all can get outside and enjoy the weekend😀.

Sandi- I have a pair of Altra Lone Peak shoes that are really comfortable. No sore feet after 10 miles of hiking! And I have bad feet.

Lwrite, hope your jaw feels better

    Thank you DGHoff!

A year ago, I would not be asking about hiking boot recommendations..just cancer questions. I have come a long ways.

It took four hours, but I hiked all the way to Uncle Buds hut on Saturday. Last one there, but so thankful to have made it. One hour to get back this morning. The hut is east of Leadville, CO at 11,500 ft. The view of Mt Massive and Mt Elbert (both 14ers) was gorgeous. Sunday sunrise photo hereimage.Met some wonderful people and have decided cancer patients are the nicest people. Thinking of you all!

Walked all over the cancer center today for follow up appointments and errands, then hit the gym for 30 minutes on the stationary bike (trying to rehab my knee, going easy). Over 12,000 steps today and feeling good 😀

    Great workouts to everyone here.

I have been bored with walking lately and just started some different youtube workouts. My mother who is 80 and I also like to do some chair workouts which are quite vigorous. The fellow is quite a delight and some offer quite a workout which is nice. Between times I randomly jog on the spot in the house to get my heartrate up. Feeling good.

zarovka, Hope you are just on a board break. Been worried about you not checking in. Hoping you are peacefully enjoying yourself.

    Illimae and Mara-nice going!

Hi DG- hope you can enjoy being outside without the mosquitoes carrying you off.

Got back in the pool yesterday and did a half mile. Really achy afterwards, but a good ache. Scoped out an easy, pretty hike for the local cancer support group on Tuesday. It was a little less than 2 miles with a gradual incline. This is the view heading back.

Getting ready for Grandma Camp next week. Can’t wait to see my family!

Hope everyone has a good week:image

When I’m out there, I’m so happy I want to cry and hug trees ...like that ponderosa pine on the right. Oh wait- I did that when no one was looking.

Wish we could all go hiking together!

l love reading about all the adventures here and some beautiful pictures! Right now I need some help, advice, inspiration from others to lose weight. Since I have started a year ago on Ibrance and letrozole I have gained 15 pounds. I know weight isn’t everything and I don’t focus on it but it doesn’t feel great. Just so you know my lifestyle has been focused on fitness and the outdoors and healthy eating (not perfect, I like treats now and then😀). I did not lose my desire to exercise and I typically still do something every day including mtn. biking, hikes, walks, lift weights, and play with grandkids! But I am not able to be quite as intense. My meals are usually quite healthy but I do allow myself more treats - frequent ice cream! Weight is more around my middle. If I gained in the past it was easy to drop a few with a bit more exercise or watching the treats. But now I feel at a loss and it’s not just the physical aspects it is emotional. I feel like I tried so hard all my life to live healthy and it did not work and if my time is short I may as well have that ice cream! But part of me wants to lose some weight and try to eat better. I’m open to suggestions and help how to turn this around. My doctors have said these meds cause weight gain due to fatigue and inactivity and they change your metabolism. Help!

KatyK- weight loss is really hard and different things work for different people. I had recently gained 8# which made my clothes feel uncomfortable and me feel not is good control of my life. I was eating lots of bread and nightly ice cream. I also thought I should enjoy life. DH has gained also. I stopped the sweets ( I am addicted I think) and most of the bread and that helped me lose about 6#. DH lost 9#. For me sugar makes a big difference - for other people it is fat that they need to cut down on. The first few weeks are the hardest for me. Exercise is important for me also

Katyk, I'm dealing with medication related weight gain too (thanks tamoxifen) and now a thyroid issue, ugh. I've been going to the gym lately and I eat pretty healthy, so I'm adding a 16 hour daily fast. We'll see how that goes. Good luck.

I haven't checked in on this thread in so long that I am sure most of you don't remember me, but it's nice to come back and see some familiar "faces". I really want to do a better job of keeping up.... you are all so inspirational. In the last year we have moved from Colorado to California and then back to Colorado again, so things have been a little crazy. I did lots of running and hiking in both places; was lucky enough to live about 50 yards from a Northern CA beach and spent lots of time running and walking. Joined a trail running group and had a lot of fun exploring the trails in the Santa Cruz mountains. I actually did well because of the altitude; California has so much more air! Really loved living there. Now back in Colorado and hiking with my hiking group every weekend and running a bit. Entered a half marathon in CA in November... ..really hoping to do it. I have been on one version of this thread or another for five years... every year I say I am going to do Yoga and SWIM (which I hate) and every year I don't do it.... so I am committing to work those in! I have also had some weight gain. I think it's the Lyrica that I take for my chemo induced neurophathy.  (or maybe just the fact that I am getting older, but I prefer to blame the drugs) Fun to see some of you getting together, and all of the pictures, and the fact so many of you have been here in Colorado enjoying our beautiful outdoors! Hugs to everyone!

    Hi everyone,

Yes wondering how Z is doing? Sending love to all!

Today was a blobbish day for me. I rallied after dinner and took a 3.6 mile walk with an ice cream treat in the middle! YUM!

Came home and did a gentle before bed yoga that felt good. This is the one I did:

I love Doyogawithme.com - they have tons of free and fantastic yoga classes for ALL levels and body capabilities.

I think I am going to try and incorporate before bed yoga every night so to help me with the pain that wakes me up at night in my arms, neck and shoulders. I don't know if this is from a bad car accident last year or rather because of bone mets? Confused with these symptoms! But the stretching definitely helps :)

    G'night all :)

Thanks lovefromphilly, I’ve been looking into starting some easy basic yoga.
