Unfortunately things are going downhill

Well ladies, if it’s not one thing it’s another. Last Wednesday I started having some stomach pain. It kept getting worse and on Friday I asked my RO about it. He seemed to think it was from the gut being in the radiation field. He said it would last for 2 weeks. I told my DH, that I didn’t know if I could put up with that for 2 weeks. Obviously RO was mistaken. On Friday night my stomach was hurting so bad that I was rolling around in the bathroom floor yelling for DH who had already went to bed. My DD finally heard me and got her dad up who brought me to the ED. They did a CT scan and said I had gastroenteritis. I was admitted again. Pain is being controlled better on IV dilaudid, they are once again giving continuous antibiotics. They said if it doesn’t improve very shortly that they will have to find out if infection has went to the outside of the small intestines. Not sure how they do that but the Dr said that would be really bad if that happened. I think this whole situation is really bad. I go from one thing into something else. I am still lifting you ladies up in prayer. Pray for a miracle for me. Wishing you all the best0

Oh kandy, I just want to cry again. I just got out of bed at 2 am because I can't sleep. I am having so much anxiety over so many things and have been a mess all night....decided to come here where I find the most comfort. But here we are with my heart breaking for you. I am praying so hard tonight for that miracle and that they get you back to a good place. You have helped me so much over the past two years and I NEED you to stick around. Your story is not done yet kandy. Your family at home AND here need you. Hang tight sister, they will figure it out. May many hugs surround you tonight.

On my knees in prayer Kandy. A miracle is needed and there are many forms it can take. Keep your eye out for the unexpected ... and know that you are in our thoughts as you face this.
Artist - sending you peace. May god lift whatever is causing you to suffer from your heart and your mind. I am a wonk and a doer and not super spiritual until the anxiety sets in. We depend on God's grace and mercy to handle the many difficult things we cannot control. When I am in the middle of it, this is an obvious truth that cannot be denied.

KANDY....LIFTING YOU UP WITH THE STRONGEST PRAYERS!!!
How I HATE this disease, and how I HATE effin' F%&ctober. All those damn PINK ribbons and crap!
What have they done for us?
NOTHING!!! We get the ragged, torn BLACK ribbon.
Only 7% of moneys collected go to metastatic BC research. That's NOT enough! We need to push for better Tx for Stage IV women. We all know early stage BC does NOT kill women and men....it's STAGE IV that does the job, with mets to the liver, lungs, pancreas, and brain, and all the other complications, such as blood clots, gastroenteritis, and opportunistic infections.
Rant over.
More prayers going out.

Lita - The rant will never be over until there is a cure! RANT AWAY!

Kandy - thinking of you and hoping those antibiotics kick in PRONTO. Sounds like you are still in pain even with the dilaudid. Can they do more for you in the pain management area? The gastroenteritis could be radiation enterititis. Why didn't your RO suggest something to relieve your pain and treat the inflammation/infection? He basically just said - wait it out 2 weeks??? WTH???? Also - perhaps you should carry a whistle around your neck in case you find yourself yelling for DH again. That's got to be a very scary feeling - yelling for help while in pain. Thank goodness your daughter heard you.
Hope you are getting some relief and rest. ((HUGS))

Oh no Kandy. You can not seem to catch a break. Sending prayers that they can get your pain under control. We are all here supporting you.

Gees, Kandy, when I had rads to my lower spine, my RO gave me a Rx for Omeprazole (Prilosec) as a prophylactic measure in case I got any accompanying gastroenteritis because we knew the beam would be passing thru that area. Surprised yours didn't foresee it.
Have you ever had this b4? Do you have abdominal/intestinal mets that might have stirred up by the rads? I;m asking because rads can cause tumors to flare and become inflamed.
Praying for a miracle!

Just seeing your post now, Kandy. Praying the gastroenteritis is under control and you are no longer in such pain and beginning to feel better. Hugs, and prayers this was a brief, though horrible, complication.

Oh, Kandy - praying for your drugs to be effective in knocking out this gastroenteritis. Glad your pain is being controlled by the IV dilaudid - it worked very well for me when I had stomach surgery. Try to get some rest and know that you are on my mind - praying for a miracle. God is in control and he works miracles!0

Good rant.

Kandy- thinking of you and praying for a miracle. After the miracle perhaps the PIK3 drug babs is on could help along with the abemaciclib.

Thank you ladies for always being there to lean on.
Lita, I was already taking Prilosec so I guess he thought that would take care of ? I just know I don’t want this again, very miserable. Today they started letting me have clear liquids. I was so thankful for water, lol. My pain is not so bad as long as I have IV dilaudid every 4 hours. But if it goes longer, the pain becomes unmanageable. But overall I feel much than Friday. So at least I’m headed in right direction. I had a lot of visitors today that left me exhausted. Going to try to sleep some tonight. I hope everyone sleeps well. We need our beauty sleep, lol. I’ll update tomorrow. Prayers and hugs to all.

Good afternoon ladies, I’m waiting for my MO to come in to talk and then I was going to update you. Here, once they admit you a hospitalist takes care of you, not your normal Drs. But the hospitalist says my MO is coming to talk since I was scanned on Saturday. I’ll get back with y’all soon.

Praying, Kandy! Unrelenting gut pain is hell. I've had my share and mercy me, that first wave of dilaudid in ER felt like being lifted on angel wings. Glad you've got it on board. It made my skin itch so I hope you have some Aveeno lotion handy.
Well honey, these bodies are designed to heal, and we are all praying. I believe you are headed toward a better day soon. Hang in there, friend.

Just got through speaking with my oncologist. Not very good news at all. Scan showed progression in liver, 2 spots in my lung that they say needs to be followed, ? Mets. Seems like the cancer just doesn’t want to be stopped. He said because so far no chemo has had any effect on it, that it’s likely none will. So he’s not thinking a chemo will work, and I have already failed hormonals. Not a good place to be. He is moving forward with trying to get me approved for keytruda. He said it would take about 2 weeks for an answer. If he gets this approved and it doesn’t work either, I’m not sure there will be many more options. Hopefully I’m going home tomorrow. My hemoglobin has dropped to 7, so they said if it doesn’t rise on tomorrow’s lab work, they will do a transfusion and then I can go. My stomach still hurts but we are through with the IV antibiotics and have switched to oral. So I can take my pain meds at home and it is no different from being here. I’m still praying for a miracle for myself. As always, lifting each of you up in prayer and praying you enjoy every moment

Kandy, Lifting you up in prayer!
I failed all the hormonals, but I am about to try Abemaciclib, letrozole, and faslodex. Studies have shown that it has worked well with heavily pretreated patients and patients that had failed all hormonals. Just a thought.
Hugs,
Robin

Kandy, I hope you can go home tomorrow. I am sorry that you have progression. I continue to lift you up in prayer. May God guide your doctors and lead them towards the treatment that will successfully defeat the cancer cells that have thus far been resistant to other treatments.
Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Kandy,
I'm so very sorry to hear about your progression - hate this crappy cancer! Praying for your strength right now and for your doctors to gain some wisdom from above to find a treatment that will work. Sending a big hug to you tonight!

Kandy, I am so sorry that you have had further progression. As a relative newbie, I have not had the opportunity to get to know you well but have formed a connection reading your posts. Your courage, grace and kindness shine through in your posts.
Please know that there are people around the world sending you prayers. Stay strong. I am praying that Keytruda or Abemaciclib provide you with some success.
