Kandy - I am thinking of you and praying for you to get some relief. I know rads really helped me, so I'm hoping they do the same for you.

Kandy, and they TAX the crap out of Med Mar. here in California!

I just went and bought some high CBD tincture 18:1 because of my Med Marijuana dr's advice (she's the one who just renewed my MM car). I plan on DOUBLING down on it. Instead of just taking a dropper full at night, I'm going to take some during the day to keep a more consistent amount in my body.

There's incredible anecdotal evidence out there for CBD and cancer. I honestly think it's what has kept me both sane and still on my feet with 20+ brain mets and leptomeningeal activity in the brain lining, for criminy sakes. It's one of the very FEW things that can actually penetrate the blood brain barrier.

It's been in the news a lot lately because it helps stave off seizures, and some ball clubs want to put football players with brain injuries/concussions on it to minimize the damage (remember football player Jr. Seau, who killed himself recently).

I also made some oatmeal/spice/dark choc chips with some cannabutter/oil this afternoon. I figure I can take a LITTLE THC (these cookies have OG Kush and Granddaddy Purple in them) to help keep me calm and help me sleep at night. Had another sizeable 'roid rage in the car driving back from the dispensary 'cuz I lost an earring - don't worry, husband was driving...so I figured it was time to make some cookies, ha ha. Tasted a half of a small one...because of all the cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg I put in the batter, you can't even taste the pot, which is good. I usually don't like the edibles that you buy in dispensaries 'cuz they often really taste like pot, and, I'm sorry, I just don't like the taste, thank you very much. It usually takes about 1-2 hrs for them to really kick in, and 2 hrs later, I feel a bit calmer.

Hope you can get some relief, Kandy. Oh, you might want to talk to your dr about gabapentin instead of opioids. Some people find it works pretty well without all the crap you can get from Norco/Oxycodone, etc.

Hugs to all, and getting my candles ready for tomorrow,

    Lita

Lita, I'm happy that you really sound much better emotionally than you did. You are definitely one strong determined lady. I did try gabapentin about a year ago. It made me extremely sleepy, to the point that I really couldn't function, so I came off of that. Not sure if it would be the same now or not. But since I have DD2 that doesn't stay by herself, I need to be more alert. Wanted to tell you about my aunt, this has been several years ago. But she lived here in NC, same town as me. She was diagnosed with lung cancer. She did have some treatment done but the docs here told her that she only had about 6 months to live. Her son lived in California and was a nurse. He came and got her and she lived the remainder of her time with him. He fixed her brownies with CBD, and I'm not sure how else he got it in her. But her 6 months to live turned into 8 years. I felt like that was a huge difference in time. Now we don't know for sure that the CBD extended her life but I think it's a good possibility. Hopefully you will also have great results. Praying for you and everyone else. Hang in there Lita

Lita, I'm in California too--I don't use medical MJ but I'm pretty sure if you have a government-issued card it's not subject to tax. Do you pay tax on yours?

    Gentle hugs from SoCal.

Sbelizabeth...I get my stuff in San Jose, and that city charges ALL dispensaries a separate fee. I believe it is because marijuana is now recreationally legal and provides an excellent tax revenue stream for them.

Don’t know how things are done down in so cal. Every municipality has its own ordinances. Sadly, San Jose won't offer delivery to where I live. The Oakland dispensary will, but they don't always have the stuff I need.

CBDs are the way to go for me...at least the pot will help keep me calm.

I have been using CBD-THC from the very beginning. I use an edible and smoke. It has helped me through this nightmare! There are so many therapeutic uses for mmj!!! I truly believe that it is what has kept me stable and now achieved NED. I am so happy to hear that you are doubling down on the CBD!!! It could work miracles! I believe that it has for me!!!

    Love to everyone ❤️❤️❤️ Chelle

Yes, Chelle, that's the plan. But I have to time my dosages a bit better.

Still having problems with the steroids I'm taking (and sheesh, I'm only take 4 mg/day!), and they are strong.

    Onward and upward...

I had a long candle so I decided to get started. I hesitated to put anyone's name on this prayer. I am concerned about everyone dealing with transitions in treatment ...Linda, LMWL, Dani, Babs, Patty, Pat, Wiepg... leaving out several people ...

But, of course, Lita and Kandy are on my mind this beautiful Sunday in September.

As Patty, and maybe Kandy know, I'm a flutist. I played 10:30 am and 12 noon ET masses today, sending waves of music, love and peace, and healing for all. At both masses we did "Prayer of Saint Francis."

Thinking also of Noni, three months on hospice.

Thanks to all of you lovely ladies. Special thanks to Z, that warmed my heart, so sweet. Mominator, I did know you played the flute, I bet you sounded spectacular and made the angels sing. I admit, I am overwhelmed at how much everyone cares, being that we don't even know ech other, all of us sharing a common link. God is in control and he has a plan, everything will happen just as he has planned. May we all find peace and comfort in knowing that. May we all have a restful night

Hello ladies, hope everyone is doing well. Next week is my week off of Halaven which finishes up my second cycle. One more cycle, then we can scan to see how we are doing. I start radiation next week on 2 places on my back. Going to do 10 treatments and hoping it relieves some of the pain. But it seems like everyday a new place is hurting. Feeling a little down about it. I wonder just how bad it will get. Praying that god sees fit to heal us all. Hugs and love to all.

    We're pulling for you, Kandy.

You'll be surprised how well the rads can work. And they last for quite some time. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain on my right side in April/May, and the rads really helped.

    Kandy,

I agree with Lita: the radiation will help with the pain. I've had a series of 5 treatments for back pain. While it took 4 sessions to feel the effect, every day it gets slightly better. Enough so that I forgot to take a pain pill this afternoon. That hasn't happened in a long time.

As to the new little pains popping up, cell death can cause pain too. On Halaven, I had new pains pop up all the time in the first four cycles, but Halaven turned out to be my most effective protocol so far. I never got to true NED (never have) but Halaven held my TMs below normal for almost 10 months, which no other protocol has managed to do for me, not even weekly Taxol! All my bone lesions resolved, and all my liver ones too, except for one wily old veteran. I ended that protocol so much better off than when I started it. Man, I miss Halaven.

Watch out for the anemia - it's the only SE that bothered me while on the big H.

Chronic pain can take your brain to some dark places. I had a sincere talk with an NP in our practice, and she swears to me that even if I take a bucket full of Oxy daily, they have pills and potions that will keep me pain free when the time comes. I was relieved.

    All digits crossed for you,

    Jennifer

I am sorry to read your spirits are down. That is a reasonable response to pain with the prospect of more pain. I know nothing about rads but praying they make short work of whatever is hurting.

Try not to think about how bad it may get.  Don't go there.  There are so many ups and downs to deal with on a daily basis.  It's only natural to feel low sometimes.  That just means an up is right around the corner!  I hope you are feeling better today. Do something nice for yourself today.  Heck do something nice for yourself everyday!  (((Hugs)))

Animal Crackers, that was beautifully written. Do you mind if I copy that and put it on my bedroom mirror? I keep all encouragement quotes taped there.

Kandy, Lita and for all who have sad days and horrible pain, we care about you. Hope you can feel that energy from us.

SandieBeach - you're so kind.  I'm glad you found my words encouraging.  I would be honored if you posted them to your bedroom mirror.

Artistatheart - am I the Cathy you call "such a sunny girl"?  If so, that tickles me!  My husband lovingly calls me cranky pants.  That tickles me too.

Kandy -  hope you are feeling better.  ((hugs))

So I guess I'd be 'roid rage pants, ha ha.

Well, I was actually able to contain myself yesterday...no rages for Saturday. Don't know about today, tho. Every day is different.

Kandy - thinking of you.  I read on another thread that you have been in a lot of pain.  You said you were in tears from the pain.  I hate to think of any of us in such pain.  I hope these rads do the trick.  Hang tough!  You always do!  We're here for you.  (((HUGS))))
