Now that I'm back home, all hell has broken loose.

I was slightly constipated in Half Moon Bay, now I have diarrhea and have had THREE explosive accidents in my Depends.

I had a couple of errands that I wanted to do today, but I've had to stay home.

Because of lumbar spine mets, I know longer have control of my sphincter muscle. Having a PET scan in January, might be time for some more rads...I just hope it's not too late. Butt cheeks and thighs are progressively going number.

    Sigh...it never ends.

Lita, bowel issues are just shitty.....no better way to say it. Do you have a prescription anti diarrheal for times like this. Ask your doctor the formula for taking the prescription along with Imodium. At times that was all that worked for me. I still have Depends around & will never get rid of them. It’s a security thing for me tho I haven’t used them in quite some time. I am praying that you feel better soon. Gentle hugs

My husband has an expression: " Even a sh** sundae has a cherry on top!" In this case I am not sure, Lita. So thinking of you and awed by your courage and inner strength. Love, MJH

    Lita,

My mum had this issue with her cancer. We found that using an inulin fiber supplement in her food and beverages helped her stool stay "just right". It's a Goldilocks scenario - you don't want it too hard, or too soft, . . .

I still use the stuff; I think it's called Benical. It's a powdered fiber supplement sold in most pharmacies and supermarkets. You can't taste it at all. Also, the inulin helps your blood sugar stay stable, if you have problems in that arena.

For clean up, if you can use a handheld shower or bidet instead of wiping, your skin will thank you. Try to air dry, or towel gently with a fresh washcloth. This is all to promote skin integrity. When you are dry, spray the area with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Smiths-Diaper-Spray-Ounc...=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1513880391&sr=8-3&keywords=spray%2Bdiaper%2Brash%2Bcream&th=1

If you are getting leakage onto your garments or seating area from the absorbent undergarments, wearing a pair of close fitting bike shorts under your pants or skirt, on top of the undergarments, helps the "diaper" conform to your body shape, minimizing any leakage gaps.

There are also small waterproof washable pads that you can use at home, so you can be more comfortable. Throw a towel over them so they don't scream WATERPROOF PROTECTOR. https://www.amazon.com/SALE-CHANGING-Waterproof-Ch...=sr_1_10_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1513880786&sr=8-10&keywords=washable+changing+pads+for+babies

They can also fit right under the pelvic area for bed time.

I kept Mom's bum looking great. She passed from C-diff, so stooling was a big issue. She kept her humor and wit through the whole thing, like you. There's an art to maintaining yourself while others are messing about with your nether regions.

    Blaine...good tips! Thank you.

Fortunately, we have a Toto Washolet/Bidet system in the master bath. I also use baby wipes and the softer baby wash cloths. I keep Preparation H travel wipes in my purse, too. Butt cheeks are doing ok, so far, but I have Desitin and other creams on hand if things get worse. It's only been in the last month that it has gotten bad.

Seeing the MO today, so I'll see what she says.

((I think it was the Eggs Benedict I ate in Half Moon Bay that did it....the nurse onco in chemo class said we're not supposed to eat runny eggs :o(,,,,,,but I was on "vacation" and had't eaten Eggs Benedict in years, and they were SO GOOD!)) Gonna have to add that to the list of "do not consume." I haven't eaten sushi, sashimi, poke, etc. since April 2016 :o(. I miss my sushi, darn it!

    Lita,

So jealous of your Toto! And, are you serious about the runny eggs? There's just no other good way to eat them :)

So here's the long and the short of today's visit with the MO…

She and the RO are disappointed that the WBR didn't shrink my 20+ tumors down more dramatically, as evidenced by the fact that all my symptoms have obviously COME back. RO is not planning to do anymore brain rads at this time. I have been told that I can "up" my steroids if I want to, and that might help with the headaches, dizziness, etc. Okay. We'll try that.

The MAIN source of concern for the MO is that I've lost control of my anal sphincter muscle, and I can no longer do Kegels either. Numbness in both butt cheeks and back of thighs is spreading. MO wants to do a spinal MRI ASAP. I'm scheduled for the MRI on Dec. 27, and because of a scheduling conflict, I will have to re-schedule my chemo infusion, which was originally scheduled for that same day. Doable. This means I will probably have to have more rads to the lower spine…if they can go back in there from possibly another angle because I've already had rads back there before.

    It never ends.

Also RIP to the moderator of my live cancer support group in Fremont. She passed away peacefully last night after being on hospice for about six weeks.

Dearest Lita, the first thing i wanted to do is check on how you are doing. So sorry the results were not the best from the WBR, after e/t you went through and the SE's that really sucks. But knowing you, you will do the best of it. It's good that they moved the MRI for earlier, you need to get a hold of what's going on. Maybe it's pressing on the spinal canal, that would make sense about your "issues". How wonderful you went on this gorgeous trip.

I'm gonna write up an update about Dani on the liver mets, so you will know. I really feel for you with the issue of diarrhea etc... Dani is been having the bleeds from the bladder is just horrendous.

Take good care, warm regards and hugs

Happy Holidays to EVERYONE out there.

I won't be checking in for a couple of days - - so I can spend what may very well be my last Christmas with my family.

May you ALL enjoy this special time of the year!

Don't stress over the cooking...keep it simple, just get take out if you have to. Festive holiday-themed paper plates and napkins are fine for easy clean up. If anybody complains, have THEM host the holiday party next year.

Sending tidings of peace, comfort, and joy,

    Lita

Reminder to California Ladies: Get your CBD tinctures, oils, edibles, etc. BEFORE the New Year. The municipal taxes are going way up after Jan.1, when the recreational MJ law goes into effect. (More than 100% in most cases.)

I just returned from the dispensary I usually go to in San Jose. Thank goodness I called in and placed my order for pick up. The parking lot was full, and there was a long line, but DH and I breezed right in, stood in the "pick up" line and were outta there in a matter of minutes. Smile

To give you an idea of how much they tax MJ, I bought six 0.5 oz bottles of tincture (they were out of the 1 oz bottles), and w/out taxes, they are $180. With sales tax and local municipal tax, my order was 214.65!!! Almost $35 in taxes alone. Insane, but that's the way it is. California is going to make a bucket load of $$ off recreation MJ for sure.

Lita Sofia is so adorable and dogs are such great companions. So I was cleaning up my iPad tonight , I'm constantly taking screen shots and it was really getting loaded down. Anyway I found this now I did have the pics of her ct scan but I erased them 😩 But I did have her protocol and thought it might be helpful. Thanks for the advic on the feet and hand issue.
