gokale - just a note on language. We don't know how to prevent cancer. All we do is *reduce risk* of cancer or recurrence

    GoKale4320,

That was it! I couldn't even remember the name! Thank you so much!

Moth, I also understand this whole thing is a c**** shoot. I'm just trying to minimise my risk. I've learned a lot more from you all then I have from my doctors. Thank you

Butterflylily, try a supplement called "theanine". Begin with 100 mg and if that doesn't work, try 200. Take it about 1 hour before you want to sleep.

I struggle to stay asleep although I fall asleep easily, and that seems to help me both fall and stay asleep. It's an amino acid, found in tea and is used for anxiety, too. It also seems to have anti-tumor effects (please be careful to do your due diligence with credible research if you are interested in that) from some research articles I found.

I hope you find sleep soon...I have finally ,after years, taught myself to meditate back to sleep but I also have to wear myself out physically pretty good each day. Then I sleep about 7 hours. It's enough.

For anyone who is concerned about eating soy (tofu or tempeh), I put that concern out of my mind a year and a half ago after listening to various evidence-based nutrition gurus, and I eat tofu or tempeh nearly daily as a topper on a salad meal. Today I again, heard a very well-known & respected dietitian (Brenda Davis) speak about this subject. Here is the link to that talk, that hopefully will work. Since this talk is part of a multi-day lecture series on plant-based eating. This particular talk will disappear at 9 a.m. tomorrow/Monday/July 13, when the next 2 talks become available.

Here are a few other links putting the controversy about breast cancer and soy to rest. These links are from NutritionFacts.org - an evidence-based resource on nutritional issues. The following links are to a few short (5 min or less) videos on soy and breast cancer. These links are available any time. There are even more short videos on this topic if you put 'breast cancer and soy' into the NutritionFacts.Org search box.

Kayak2 - I missed the video regarding soy by Brenda Davis, but I listened to the next one about Whole Foods and raw diets. I try to incorporate raw foods everyday, but I haven’t considered eating a majority of raw foods. It’s interesting. Anyone here eat mostly raw foods? I will look for more information (or maybe one of Brenda Davis’s books) about raw diets and the effects on cancer recurrence. I get excited over improving my strategy. Little tweaks to my lifestyle have really transformed me.

There is a ton of nutrition information in this link. Half of the 90 pages is actual information and the other half are resources and sites to studies. The first part, anyway, is rather motivating. So if I get weary of trying to eat correctly, I can just pull up a factoid to push me forward in my efforts.

I did a quick search on raw foods and how helpful they might be in our fight. The Gerson Therapy popped up, but I didn't read it. Other than that, I couldn't find anything. I do know that eating some raw vegetables daily is good so I will stick with that. Once I tried to minimally roast some sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, but I found them to be not my favorite way to eat them.

Switching topics, a bit...I made lentil sloppy joes last night. They are scrumptious!!

For some reason, the link that I posted above (plantsuperpowers), with Brenda Davis talking about soy, is still live, in case anyone is interested in listening to it.
