Hello, Petite1! I'm giving you a virtual wave Hello! I'm normally up by 5:00AM so this is normal except it's been harder since Brody arrived because I have to fit taking him outside, exercise, eat breakfast and get ready for work within the same timeframe. Usually the exercise is the thing that doesn't get done. :( It's a rainy 51 degrees here and brrrr!

I think we got up to 75 today. it was gorgeous. My car, after 24 hours was not ready. I managed to get a loaner car for the weekend. I don't even want to see the bill. Car repairs are more than medical bills!

Good morning, ladies. It is a pleasant 63 degrees and I got 8 hours of sleep. I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend.

petite1: I'm so envious. I would do anything to get eight straight hours!

It was nice weather except a little overcast. Tomorrow is supposed to be rain.

I went outside tonight to check to see if my new solar light was working. I almost stepped on a black snake. He ran one way and I ran the other. Lesson learned: don't go out at night without a light. (my new light did not work).

Kamboka, gentle rain this morning, but I ran out to get my newspaper. Sunday is the only day I get it. If you re not near the water, your black snake is probably harmless. I know I hate snakes, no matter if harmless or not. LOL

Here is my back yard, so I have to worry about snakes. Bawling I'm not scared of them but don't want them near me or in the house. They do take care of rats and I hate rats more than snakes.

The gentle rain didn't start until about 2 pm. I went outside and rested in my new zero gravity chair for about a half hour. Nothing is good for my back so I had to give up sooner than I wanted. I do like to see the rain hit the water. It's relaxing to me.

Kamboka - Your home and view is beautiful! That sounds relaxing to me too!

I HATE snakes! I used to have dreams about them and I told my husband the day we find a snake at our house is the day before the house goes up for sale! LOL!

Kamboka, That is BEAUTIFUL! I would never leave the back porch. I would worry about the snake, it might be a water moccasin. They have thick bodies and a big triangular head. I have nightmares about snakes, too. LOL

I admit that a rat will run me out of my house. I think the snakes can't get into the patio as I don't see any openings in the screening. I couldn't really see the snake as he was black and it was dark outside. They say we have rattlers and cottonmouths. I bought some "snake be gon". I'll see if that works.

I had my PT consult today. the guy was very thorough and very smart. He used to teach so he didn't a lot of teaching with me. He says I could do PT for about 2 months, do water exercises and can ride my bicycle. I'm waiting to sign up for PT after I figure out what new new insurance I get.

Kamboka - There is such a thing as Snake Be Gon? LOL! It sounds like you found a great PT guy who will help you feel better. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Kamboka, I am glad to hear about the PT.

My snake be gon arrived but I'll probably put it out over the weekend. I've managed to get myself even more busy. I had a consult today for the bariatric surgery. They immediately booked me for 3 appointmnets tomorrow and one on Thursday. My real estate agent is finally coming over for lunch on Thursdya and Thursday is my last day at my current job. I'll start my new assignment next tuesday.

Kamboka - Wow! And I thought I had a busy schedule. What does the Snake Be Gon do?

Good morning, ladies. I had terrible hot flashes last night. (not my norm). I jumped in the pool in my underwear. LOL It came on so suddenly and sweat was running down my face. I think it may have been from hot sauce. We had just finished tacos.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - Oh my! It's a good thing I don't like spicy hot foods! Aren't you glad you had a pool to cool down in? LOL. I hope that is the only time you have hot flashes like that.

petite1: That is a funny vision but I know the feeling. I've been on my new AI for a week now and notice that I'm getting hotter especially at night. I decided to keep my small portable AC hooked up and now run it for a few hours at night to keep me cooled. I hope that doesn't run my bill up too high. My regular AC doesn't come on much since it's cooling off.

Today I noticed I had two dead birds in my driveway. Wonder what is going on. I haven't used my snake be gon yet. I'm not even sure what's in it.

Kamboka, That is strange. Maybe a cat got them?

mocame, I hope not. It was miserable.

My real estate agent came over for lunch today, she thought the birds had flown into my window since I cleaned it. I don't think so but it's really strange.

Today was my last day at my current job. I start the new position on Tuesday. I really hope they will be as flexible as this last one. I'm supposed to have PT twice a week but not sure how to do that now as I won't have any sick leave. I don't mind working early or late hours to make up the time.

I tried to do my exercises yesterday and decided to lay in bed--getting off the floor would have been brutal. Anyways, I twisted the wrong way trying to lie down and I almost screamed in pain. It was a quick stab to the back. I need to see if I can find an aquatics center close by.

Kamboka, Ouch. In a big city like Jax, I am sure you can find aquatics. I was thinking about going to the Y for water exercises.

I ordered a whole bunch of flowers to add to my front yard. A few of them came today and I need to plant them asap. I don't know how I'm going to do this with my back pain. I need to get on my hands and knees but probably won't be able to get up. :) I ordered way too many plants and not sure where I'm putting all these. If they all came at the same time, I might hire somebody to do it on Monday but they come at separate times, depending on the planting season.

I managed to drain the hot tub except for the remaining foot or so of water. I bought a wet vac but need to read the instructions on how to use it. Maybe tomorrow.

Kamboka, you are so busy. It tires me out to think about it. Especially the planting.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

As I was dumping the water from the first round of the wet vac, my neighbor started talking to me. She has a handyman and said she could hook me up. I was so relieved to hear that. The fellow came by today and we went over all the things I wanted done. He will finish my hot tub, clean my newly bought furniture, clean my pavement and do all my planting. I think he goes back and forth to Puerto Rico but I think he can get all my stuff done while here this time.

I stopped taking my Gabapentin and started back on my beet juice. I actually have energy just can't do much with the pain and muscle weakness.

Good morning. I haven't tried beet juice, but I think it is in V-8. I do love pickled beets. I hope the handyman works out for you. My cleaning lady, who is a COTA in real life, helps us a lot. She and her husband mulched the plant beds, trimming, weeding, etc. They also pressured washed the pool deck and the drive way. It is like they adopted us and we really appreciate it.

petite1: What is COTA? It's good that they have 'adopted' your family and take care of you. The handyman came today to plant nine of my plants. I think I have another 50 still to come. I was outside with him when two of my neighbors came and I had to talk. I was in so much pain in just 15 minutes. My magnolia tree is shedding leaves and cones. I wish I had the strength to rake them up. Today, I called Mayo and they couldn't see me in neurology. They gave me some referrals. My MO said to check back with the spine center but I had left them a message on Friday without a response back. I think it's compression of a nerve that is causing the new problems.

Tomorrow, I start my new job. I hope it's not too stressful. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but all I can think about is the pain now.

Just found out tonight that my ex-husband died at age 66. It's weird since I haven't spoken to him in over 20 years but I was thinking of him the weekend before last. I said I was going to call him to tell him I'd moved back to Jax and let him know what had changed. Apparently, he died the following Tuesday. I forgot to try to call him. Strange that I started thinking of him right before this happened. I don't know how he died. Interesting emotions going on.

Kamboka - You make me tired too and I thought I had a lot going on. I hope you can get in to see someone soon about the pain you are in. My husband's uncle has had pain in his toes, legs, and back for a year. Went to different doctors and put on drugs that had worse SEs and didn't touch the pain. Finally found another doctor who took an x-ray and found out his spine is a mess. He said it looked like a bad skeleton at Halloween. They think a nerve in his spine is being compressed too. I haven't heard yet what they are going to do about it.

I'm sorry to hear about your ex-husband. Sounds like you two had an amicable relationship? Even though you didn't stay married, being with someone in such a close relationship still gives you a connection that changes but is probably never lost.

Kamboka, You need a yard person. All that work is wearing me out to think about. Back pain is the worst. I hope you can get some relief. A COTA is a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant. She does upper body and fine motor movements. She specializes in children.

So many acronyms! My new insurance that starts in a few weeks covers chiropractic care and acupuncture. I have tried both several times and got more out of acupuncture. I will try that after I do the six weeks of PT.

mocame: I feel your uncle in law's pain. I hope he can get some relief. Yesterday I put my hot pad on for several hours and it might have helped a bit. Although the heat makes me hot flash and I can't keep it on for long. Today, I tried the pad again but it hasn't worked as well. I need to start trying some Aleve twice a day.

Kamboka, I missed a couple of days. How are you doing?

    mocame, How are you?

My phone dies and I had to get a new one. I still haven't figured it out. I decided to get a haircut and she wouldn't listen. There were 3 older ladies including myself and we all ended up with the same cut from 3 different stylists. I think I have to find a new place to go. I was very grumpy.
