Yes, it was cool this morning as I headed out at 6:30 for my appointment. It was bad except the wind started blowing hard. If this is our typical December weather, I'm okay with it.

I suffered through the nerve test and EMG. It's really painful. They doctor posted my report but it doesn't seem to be any problems. Still not sure why the weak muscles.

Today, the bathroom guys came to tear down the shower. The painter was here as well. My internet decided to go out for about an hour. The noise from the bathroom was driving me crazy. I'm so glad for quiet time this afternoon.

Good morning. It is 44 degrees and the cats won't go out on the lanai.

Kamboka, Is that the test with tiny needle pricks? I think I had it about 20 years ago tingling in my right hand.

petite1: Even though it was 48 when I went out again at 630, it felt warmer than yesterday since the wind was not blowing. It warmed up nicely during the day.

The nerve conduction is them placing a patch over the nerve and 'shocking' it. The muscle test is the one where they put the needle in the muscle. The nerve shocking is worse to me than the needle. I hope I don't have to do it again for 20 years like you.

The painting is going well. He's very meticulous. The shower deconstruction has stopped and tomorrow they start the tile. I think it will look good. I've had to switch to another bathroom except at night when I have to traipse through all the rubble to get to the toilet. Luckily, I have a night light.

Good morning. The cooler weather has set off my Lupus rash and I spend a terrible night. I feel like going back to bed, but too much to do.

It was 65 today! Yay! It was SO cold and windy on Monday. Brr! I'm getting ready to go walking with a friend and I'm not looking forward to it. Still too cold at 59 degrees, a breeze, and dark outside. I don't like daylight savings time, either. LOL!

My hair is getting thinner and I realized that I think it is a SE of the migraine medication I have been on for years and am also now using for hot flashes and joints. When they switched me to Effexor, my hair got thick like it used to be and now that I'm back on Amitriptylin, it got really thin again. :(

Kamboka - I'm glad you are getting some of the work done on your house. We have been working on our basement for almost 2 years and I can't wait until it's done! Your house will completely redone soon!

mocame: When you are happy it's 65, we are sad in FL. We will warm back up this week but I think the rain is coming. I've not watered my plants in two days since the bathroom man has his big van parked in the way and by the time he leaves it's dark. I'm not going out in the dark with all these snakes hanging around. I don't like this time change. I would rather has the sunlight at the end of the day. I get depressed when it gets dark early. :(

petite1: what happens with your rash? Does it keep you up itching? Are you on the steroid meds? I'm enjoying the cooler weather but I still have to turn on my portable A/C since I'm using my hotpad for the back and that heat causes flashes. Always something.

mocame, It has warmed back up. I think it's about 64 this morning.

Kamboka, I use steroid topicals. I was so cold the other night, I didn't want to get out of the bed and put cold creams on. My husband thinks I was totally stressed from watching election results, or still pending results, that I was going into shock. LOL

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

LOL. I think 2020 will win the prize for most stressful year ever!

The night time problems are the worse. I had to get up and put Australian dream on my feet as they were aching like crazy. It seems to help a little or it could be pyschological comfort. Either way, it hleped.

I was stuck at home all week with the painter and the shower contractor. We are almost finished with the painting. He did a great job. I've hired him to paint my bathrooms and office next. The shower flooring didn't work so I'm trying to find an alternative tile. I'll go to the store tomorrow afternoon and pick something up. The fellow will come back mid week and finish the job.

Kamboka - I never heard of Australian cream. I don't know how you have have the energy to do all of that. I work full-time, come home, make dinner (sometimes), do stuff around the house, try and work on something extra like FAFSAs for the kids, pay bills, etc. and then pass out at night until I have to get up at 4:50AM again....and repeat...I'm so tired. How is your new job going?

Petite1 - I hope you are feeling better.

Kamboka, I agree with that. At least 2020 is almost over. The contract or and plumber finished the bathroom in the rental home where someone fell through the floor. YAY. I hope yours will be finished soon.

mocame, I did better yesterday, but last night was difficult. Husband was up and down turning the TV on to see any changes in the results. I guess, in time, this too will pass.

mocame: The Australian Dream is similar to blue emu oil but it has something else in it that seems to do better than just blue emu. It's not meant for neuropathy so maybe it's all a psychological effect. I need something as these feet are driving me crazy.

Your daily schedule is much busier than mine. I think after next week, my contractors will be winding down. Although I got word today that the homeowners had approved my claim for a new roof. I guess that will happen next week. I'm trying to get everything done before the holiday since all my family will be here.

petite1: Sorry you are still flaring up. It might be some stress related to that as well. I say "this too shall pass". Most of us will just get back to trying to live our best lives no matter who sits in the White House.

Glad you got your bathroom finished. I hope that person wasn't hurt who fell through

Good morning, ladies. It has been dark and gloomy thanks to Eta. At this point it looks like it wanders around in the Gulf, cuts across where I live and pops out over by you Kamboka. That is supposed to be next weekend, but subject to change. It will be a gloomy windy week no matter what.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: Not too gloomy today but windy. The wind is really whipping now. I haven't been to the weather channel to see what's the timeline to get here. Has it left you guys already?

I have been thinking about both of you because you both live in Florida. I hope everyone stays safe and no nasty weather hits your area. We have been experiencing terrific weather here. Temps have been in the low 70s! I have been enjoying it but starting tomorrow, we will be getting rain and 50's from then on. :(

Good morning, ladies. It is still gray and windy. Eta is just turning loops in the gulf. The projected course as changed, though I am still in the cone, it looks like it is headed to the panhandle. Still days to go.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

We've done well so far. A little rain this morning but the day has been pretty dry. I think we'll have some rain through Friday and then it's expected to be dry.

My bathroom tile was finished today. Now, I'm waiting for the door to come in. I'm hoping the painter can paint it before Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow, I'm going to have that float therapy. It's my first time. I'll let you know how it goes. The lady says that most people do it nude. I'll take my swimsuit in case I chicken out. I got this coupon for half price on the Localflavor website. I also bought some tickets for the Old Town Trolley in St. Augustine. I hear they will have nice Christmas lights. I'll take my neice when she gets her in December.

Kamboka, Eta has gone back to the original course, coming in over me and out over you, but looks like bad weather for the next couple of days. I think I should get what errands I need to do, done early. I wanted to get a gift card for Jim's birthday, Saturday. The store is in a flood prone area, so if I wait, I might be able to get there. Felix has an appointment with the vet tomorrow, I bet they cancel. I love the Old Town trolly!

Stay safe you two! This hurricane can't seem to make up it's mind where it wants to go.

petite1: I'm seeing that you are correct. It's close to Tampa. How is it there today? Are you expected to get a direct hit? I really hope not. This has been some crazy year! We only had some brief rains off and on today. Not as windy as it was the other day.

Stay safe and keep us updated.

Kamboka, It was a wet and windy night. I was up until 1:30. I haven't gone outside to see if any damage. How about you?

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

When I went to the clinic this morning at 0700, it was really windy. By 0900 or so, the wind had died down. It was overcast but the sun came out for a brief moment in the late afternoon. I think we are not forecast to have much more rain for the next week.

BTW, my insurer has approved for me to get a new roof. I'm so happy and will be picking out the shingles tomorrow. I may have to wait until after Thanksgiving. I'm supposed to have five relative here the entire week. My sister is getting married on Tuesday before the holiday. My mom's birthday is Thanksgiving day. I've got mom's gifts and something for my sister but I don't have cakes. In fact, I don't have any food. Today, I ordered the very expensive honey baked turkey and ham and will have to figure out the rest. The problem is not that I don't want to do it or have the energy to do it, it's the back pain and leg weakness. I have to do three more weeks of PT before they will try the pain med injection to the back. I can't wait and hope it works.

Kamboka, good news on the roof and spared from Eta.

Looks like we will have a whole week of sunshine. Maybe I can finally do some tasks outside.

I went to the bariatric doctor today to see when I could get my surgery. It looks like it will be February, that is, if I can quit gaining weight. I am now six pounds over what I need to be before they will do the surgery. Ugh. It's hard for me to lose weight in the winter.

Tomorrow, I'm heading up to Fernandina beach to pick up some things that I'm buying on Facebook. I will try to have lunch there and then take the long and scenic route home.

Kamboka, That is a very pleasant drive. Good luck with the weight loss. I am addicted to cookies, but if I cut carbs, I drop weight quickly.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: It was a very nice drive down A1A and a ride on the ferry over to Mayport. It was a lovely high seveties, low humidity, and no clouds in the sky day.

mocame: how are you? When is your surgery schedule for in December?

    mocame Member Posts: 564

I'm glad you two were spared any damage from the storm.

Kamboka - That's great that you got your surgery scheduled. Hopefully living in Florida with all the fresh fruit, veggies and nicer warm weather to be out in with help you lose the weight you need to for surgery. I'm a Pennsylvania Dutch girl and we LOVE our carbs and sugar! Ugh! I am cutting back on the number of different Christmas cookies we will be making this year.

Well, we have had a busy few days. Our dog ran off on Thursday and I was soo worried about him since he doesn't know the area. It was cold and rainy too. After putting up fliers, driving around, and posting it all over Facebook, someone found him and checked his microchip and called us on Saturday. I cried. I got very little sleep and still had to go to work, which was also very busy. I'm so thankful for the kindness or literally hundreds of people I didn't know that shared my posts on Facebook and prayed he would return safely.

I think both of our family's Thanksgivings are now being canceled due to COVID. The one I was supposed to host was to be just a few days before my COVID test and quarantine before my surgery. I didn't want to risk it. I get my test on 12/3 and quarantine until my surgery on 12/8. The amount of recovery time is dependent on how I heal. They said 1 to 4 weeks. Ugh.

mocame, Good to hear from you. I am glad you got your dog back. It is a shame about Thanksgiving. The 29th is our anniversary and we usually go away, so no Thanksgiving with the remaining family. My younger brother is all that's left on my side and he will be in North Carolina. Jim's niece and her children are all that is left on his side. So we will do a short trip by ourselves.

mocame: I'm so happy you found the dog. Every week on our neighborhood website, someone finds a dog and asking for help to find it's owners. The chips are really nice to have now. My 80 year old uncle has been wanting a dog for years. He finally got one this week and my mom says he's over the moon.

We are still planning on having our Thanksgiving together. My sister and her to-be husband will be masked at all times. My brother and his wife only do it around strangers. I need to be careful this week and try to stay a distance from all these people coming to my house. Luckily it seems that the cases in our county are going down.

petite1: Happy early anniversary! Where do you think you'll go for your celebration trip?

We are thinking of going to Hudson Beach. There is a nice motel we have stayed at that is across from the beach. It is close to many eating/drinking establishments and has their own. It is about an hour North of St. Petersburg and we are hoping it won't be crowded. We use to go to Daytona, but we got kind of burnt out on it. Then we would go to St. Pete Beach and were not very comfortable last time we were there. Husband is a retired cop and a big man, sometimes people want to "mess" with him. I guess a certain type of person senses it. That happened twice while we were there and once in Daytona.

petite1: That is weird that they get the 'cop' vibe with your husband. Our poor police are having a hard time nowadays. Stay safe. I don't think there will be too many people out and about. My sister and fiancé called me today saying they were thinking of cancelling Thanksgiving here. They are afraid to go to TN to pick up my mom d/t COVID and afraid to be here with the other family. They will let me know tomorrow. I've already ordered the ham and turkey and their wedding cake. I think my mom wants to come down here but she can't fly. I had planned to drive her back right before Christmas.

I just sent back another expensive mattress. They came today. My new one was not expected to be here until after Thanksgiving. So, I bought a cheap one off Facebook. It's huge but older than I thought and has a smell. It must have been in storage. I sure hope my new one comes sooner so I can sent this to Goodwill.
