Starting Radiation October 2019

mocame: I don't recall the RO mentioning skin tags either. After radiation I did notice some and went to the dermatologist. He said they were normal but that I should have a skin check every year. I haven't noticed any more.
I'm getting excited about my trip this weekend. I'm heading to Port St. Lucie on Friday and then from there to Orlando on Sunday. I'll come back to Jax on Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have much rain.
I think I mentioned the magnolia tree that I'm trying to get cut down. One argument was that it never bloomed. Well, I came home two days ago and there were two beautiful white flowers. It's still not enough to want me to rake leaves everyday!

Kamboka, Your trip sounds fun. I am glad you did get to see it bloom. Before I moved to this house I built a house in Floral City, it backed up to a preserve with lots of Magnolia trees. Some of them had massive blooms. I had a small Magnolia in the front yard.

Kamboka - Enjoy your trip this weekend! I will be in Orlando in 2 weeks! Yay! I love to see the magnolia trees in bloom but I'm not sure I would want one in my yard. LOL.

mocame, Enjoy your trip.

The painter came today to start on my bedroom. We've worked out a deal where he will come and finsh up on Friday and Saturday while I'm gone. I spent weeks with him last year and I completely trust him. The only probelm is that I haven't picked out my accent wall color so he'll have to wait until I get back. Maybe while I'm in PSL, I'll look at some color swatches and find a color I want.

Kamboka, I haven't any decorating projects for a while, but am please with the house I probably should get some new curtains for the breakfast nook and maybe drapes in the living room. I have doctor appointments starting up again in May. The dermatologist is next week. I know she will go crazy freezing spots. Ouch

Well, it was 86 degrees yesterday and it was hot! My husband and I went for an hour walk and where there was a breeze it was fine but at least half the time we had no breeze and I was so sweated! When we go to Orlando next Friday, it's supposed to be in the 90's there! Ugh!

The Bird of Paradise is in bloom

petite1: Your BOP is beautiful!
I made it back from PSL and Orlando early this morning so I could work. PSL wasn't too bad as there was a little breeze but Orlando was blazing in the low 90s. My sister and husband require mask indoors, car, outdoors even though they have had the vaccine. I almost died from overheating with that hot mask on. I won't go back again until I have to take my mom. I'll only stay overnight. My sister is still spraying her shoes when she gets home. My cousin lives in downtown Orlando at Church street restaurants and bars. What a lovely location but it was a one bedroom and I 'slept' on the couch. I guess that's why I got up at 6am to leave.

Good morning. The center of the state is hot. It doesn't get the ocean breeze. I have to go for my skin spot check, Weds. I dread it.

petite1: hope the dermatology appointment goes well tomorrow.

Petite1 - I hope your appointment goes well today. Your Bird of Paradise is beautiful! So exotic compared to what we have around here.
Kamboka - And I'm heading to Orlando next Friday. Ugh! So far it is forecasted to be in the 90s every day except one day when it will be a cool 88 degrees! We normally go in the very beginning of May and it's not usually this hot. I have bought 2 handheld fans to carry with us as we walk around.
It's been an interesting couple of weeks here. My daughter got covid. We think from one of the kids in the elementary school classroom where she is observing/helping (for her degree). She just got over that and then on Sunday she was playing co-ed soccer and the goalie kicked the ball when she was close and it hit her very hard in the head. She had vision problems right away. Went to the urgent care on Monday and was diagnosed with a mild concussion. Thankfully, the doctor said she can go on the trip to Florida and do the rides as long as she doesn't do the rollercoasters right away. Phew! I didn't want to cancel my trip and she would've been upset too. I told her I was going to wrap her in bubble wrap and hand sanitizer for the next few weeks! LOL.

mocame, I am glad your daughter got over both issues and can go on vacation. Bring bottled water and sunscreen.

mocame: Your daughter had a rough time but glad she is on the mend. One positive is that she now has natural immunity and shouldn't have to take the vaccine.
I second petite1 with bring plenty of water, sunscreen, hats and maybe wetones to wipe away the sweat. I've not been to Disneyworld since the 80s. One day, I'll do it when the weather is more agreeable.

I survived the dermatologist when a couple frozen spots. Of course they are on the left arm, which is where the lymph nodes were removed. I worried about that all night, but it seems OK this morning.
0 -
petite1: When do you get your report back? I'm always dreading things on my affected side because I'm so scared of lymphedema.
My HOA gave me permission to cut down my magnolia tree. Now that's it's blooming, I'm feeling guilty about it. However, there's a ton of leaves in my yard again.

From my magnolia tree that HOA gave me permission to cut down. Now, I'm having second thoughts.

Petite1 - I'm glad your dermatologist appointment went well. I had a lump removed from my arm (cancer side arm) in January and I was worried about it too but everything is fine.
Kamboka - That magnolia is beautiful but I wouldn't like the mess the trees cause either.
My daughter came home yesterday from college. We leave early Friday morning for Florida. Thankfully, the forecasted temps have dropped into the mid to upper 80s while we are there. I've packed enough clothes to be able to change into another outfit if I get too sweaty, lighter weight clothes, handheld fans, lots of sunscreen, etc. The highs here at home will only be in the 60s this week and our highs are colder than Florida's lows. Ugh. It's not normally that cold this time of the year and it will be quite a change when we get to Florida.

mocame: I'm excited for your vacation. I've not been to DW since the 80s. Can't wait to get your report back about it.
My yard man is my 70ish neighbor. He is from Albania and doesn't really speak much English but he's such a nice man. He raked two big bags of leaves before he could mow yesterday. I felt so bad for him. I'm definitely cutting the tree.

Good morning, ladies. DH had another cluster headache at 3 am, so I feel like a lump. He is sleeping. These headaches and the meds knock him out.
0 -
petite1: Maybe that will calm him for sleep tonight so you can get some sleep. I can't imagine how that feels since I seldom have a headache. For the last two nights, I've had trouble sleeping as the neuropathy in my right foot is hyper. I might try the Lyrica in a few more weeks when I can swallow the pills.

Petite1 - I had a migraine the other night too and only got 3 hours of sleep and then had to go to work. It stinks. I never got headaches until about 6 or 7 years ago. Then I got migraines 3 to 4 days a week. I'm now on preventative and it works well but still get them occasionally.
Kamboka - Your yard man sounds like a great guy. I wish there were more people like that.
A coworker of mine from work just told me her family dr thinks she has breast cancer and it may have metastasized. She only just turned 50 and had breast cancer around 6 or 7 years ago. She was having tingling in her cancer side breast and was having a harder time breathing. Her son is a nurse and said to get checked out. They found a lump in her breast and a couple of nodules on her lungs. She should officially find out the biopsy results this week. She has a great attitude, though.

mocame, He is taking preventative medication, but as far as I can tell, it isn't working. He wanted to go out for a late lunch, yesterday and one started on the way home. By the time we got home it was almost over. We are limiting our trips away from the house to 30 minute drive or less, just incase he gets one.
Down here everyone is worried about gas shortage due the pipeline hack. I hope that doesn't happen.
0 -
mocame: prayers to your friend and hoping that it's not CA and if it is, that it's treatable. 50 is so young. I've heard so many stories in which women who had a recurrence handled it better than the first time. I think we are always on alert for a recurrence so we've reconciled ourselves to what might happen next.
petite1: Has your husband tried botox? Isn't that used for migraines?
Yesterday, I topped off my tank but there were no lines when I was out in the middle of the day. I'm already upset that gas prices have gone up 70 -80 cents since January. I want to go to a bunch of estate sales on the weekend but you know how spread out Jax is. I'll decide on Friday.
0 -
Kamboka, Florida is not on the pipeline. It comes in through the ports. So, any shortage we have is people hoarding and being stupid. There was someone near me that filled up a bunch of gas cans and somehow their Hummer caught fire. That had to be because of stupidity.
mocame, not sure if Botox would help him. Cluster headaches are not the same as migraines, but frequently the same meds are used to treat them both. I will be so glad when the "season" is over. He had one about 1 or 2 am and another after we had breakfast. He is sleeping or trying to sleep.

It is very cool today--in the 60s. I can't believe it's mid May and had those temps in the middle of the day. Tomorrow should get us back to the lovely 70s.

Good morning, ladies. It is pleasant and cool this morning. My husband had his injection and the visit to the neurologist was disappointing. Cats are wild this morning. Got to go. Will write more later.
0 -
petite1: Yes, it was nice and cool this weekend. This is weather that I'd like to have year round. Waiting to hear more about the neurology appointment. I'm enjoying no MD appointments for awhile.
0 -
Kamboka, The neurologist said it might not ever go away. He may continue getting them, but with taking the meds and injections it should cut down the frequency and severity. Last time he got them was 2018 and he was headache free for 3 years. He had a bad one last night and it totally exhausted him. He has already gone back to bed today. He is afraid to go too far on any outing or errand. He has not visited any of his buddies. We have not gone on any day trips. I want him back to normal.

petite1: Yikes, that doesn't sound fun. I can't even imagine as I don't even get minor little headaches. I will keep my fingers crossed that it goes away again like it did for the three years. Strange things can happen. For me, last November and December, I could barely walk, then it went away in January.
I'm enjoying this great spring weather.
