He had one at 02:54 and 09:00. Not going to be a good day for him.

so sorry. I hope he was able to get some rest during the day. Are they planning on running any tests, or do they know what is causing the headaches? Will any meds help?

He ended up with 3 headaches yesterday. He hasn't had any today. Cluster headaches are rare. It has something to do with the hypothalamus.

Glad he got through today without one.

He had one just about time to eat, last night. He hasn't had one today.

It is not easy when there is so much uncertainty. I'm sure he is terrified that an attack will come when he's out and not prepared. Maybe it will calm down soon.

My sister and BIL are coming up this weekend. We'll see if they will 'unmask' for the weekend. They've both had the vaccine but they are very scared of COVID.

Kamboka, I remember your trip to visit your sister and BIL and had to mask in the car. How are you feeling? Have you healed up? What about weight loss?

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

Since it's my house, I'll be without a mask. THey can mask up if they want. Smile

It's been about three months now since surgery. I've lost 43 pounds so far. I still have urges to eat all the wrong stuff but I'm trying not to buy those things and my stomach gets full fast.

I've got three estate sales lined up for tomorrow. Now sure if they will tag along since they are paranoid about crowds. Either way, I'll be finished by noon.

Hello, Ladies! I'm back from my vacation to Florida. The weather was beautiful, highs in the 80s, we didn't have to wear masks outside (Yay!), and I had a great trip.

Kamboka - Your flowers are beautiful! I hope you had a great time with your family and were able to get to some estate sales.

Petite1 - I hope your husband's headaches decrease. What is the difference between a cluster headache and a migraine headache? They sound terrible.

My coworker was officially diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I haven't heard the details yet because I haven't be able to talk to her until tomorrow but I'm sure she will appreciate the prayers.

kamboka, What a beautiful flower. We need rain, here. We have been under red flag warning. I had to add water to the pool and the grass is drying up, even with irrigation. Of course I can only water once a week for a short time.

mocame, I am glad you had a nice vacation. Prayers for your friend. Cluster headaches have something to do with the hypothalamus (biological clock) and season change. Last time he had them was fall, 3 years ago. This time it is spring. MRI today.

mocame: welcome back. Glad the weather cooperated and FL is definitely more open to "no masks". Did you do the rides at the park? Did you do Epcot as well. It's been so long since I've been there but will wait now till winter to go when it's cooler.

So sorry to hear about your colleague. Was she breast cancer? Will send up some prayers.

petite1: I had to turn my sprinkler system back on as rain only once in over a week. Let us know how the MRI turns out.

Kamboka, The MRI went well. When he had one 3 years ago, he had a headache while in MRI. He was very worried about it happening again. Thankfully, it went well and he was in a very good mood. No headaches and he was like his old self. LOL

petite1: that's is good news. Each day without the headache is a wonderful day.

I started acupuncture last week and had my second session today. I'm not sure if it will help the neuropathy in the feet but I'll give it another shot.

Petite1 - I'm glad the MRI went well and hopefully these headaches go away. That must be very frustrating and scary because you have no control over when they happen.

Kamboka - I hope your acupuncture works and gives you some relief from the neuropathy.

I got to talk to my coworker yesterday. She hasn't been at work much because she spent 3 days last week at the hospital and 2 days this week with lots of appointments. She originally had breast cancer about 6 years ago. She was BRCA positive, had a double mastectomy and put on AI drugs. After trying Tamoxifen and multiple AIs, she went off of all medications because she couldn't physically tolerate them. They left her debilitated and hard to function. She was a runner, walker, loved hiking, and ate healthy but because of going off the pills, decided to concentrate even more on a healthy lifestyle to help lower her chances. She was just checked back in October and everything seemed fine. Around February she started having a hard time breathing and she found a lump on her breast. So, the breast cancer came back in her breast and it is inoperable due to the tumor being wrapped around something (not sure what). It is stage 4. It spread to her lungs and this week they found out it spread to many places in her bones. She will have one round of radiation to a spot on the top of her vertebrae. They also will try and do radiation on her pelvis at some point. The rest of the places on her bones, lungs, and breast, they will treat with pills/injections to hopefully shrink those. Thankfully she has a strong faith and a good support system but but the vibrant, bubbly person isn't there anymore, understandably. It's hard to see. She comes to me to talk about what they found because I'm the only one at work who understands at least a little of what she is going through. Please keep her in your prayers.

mocame, So sad about your coworker.

Headaches came back. Not much I can say.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: how old is your colleague? It's so scary that you can be fine one minute and in a few months your world is turned upside down. It sounds like she didn't have any pain in the bones either. I'm so glad that she has you to talk to. It's so important that someone who has gone though something similar is there to talk to. Take care of yourself so that you don't get down too.

petite1: Maybe something is triggering the headaches--like with seasonal hayfever. Hoping that whatever it is, it will go away.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - I hope the headaches go away soon. They sound miserable.

Kamboka - She just turned 50. Ironically, I was the same age when I was dx the 2nd time but mine was at the same location and didn't spread, that I know of. You never know. I'm not down but after the 2nd dx, you look at life a little differently. I realized that I never know if/when it could come back again and then it's usually worse. That's why I try and do trips like I just did with my daughter. Not concentrate on things or money but on relationships and memories. Much more important.

Our weather here has been crazy. So far this week, we've had highs in the 60s, 70s, 90s, back to 60s, and on Saturday it is supposed to be in the 50s. Craziness!

Good morning. I am heading to the PCP today and Husband has a televisit to get the MRI results at 3.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: how did the mri report go? Was everything okay with the PCP visit?

mocame: I've only had the one diagnosis but it did change my mindset too. I think I enjoy each day more as I know it's not promised. My family laughs that I started all these new hobbies (bought a set of golf clubs at an estate sale along with all my other buying) but I'm enjoying and want to learn new things. I need to find some lessons for golf and try to learn to swim again. I was thinking back to when I first heard that Magic Johnson had HIV/AIDS. I think that was in the 80s and he's still here. We are lucky there are meds that can extend our life for longer than our ancestors.

My PCP visit went fine. Husband has a small benign brain tumor. She has referred him to a surgeon and prescribed more meds.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

Kamboka - I understand. I want to travel and see more parts of the country while I can. I also started getting rid of some of the stuff that's laying around not being used. My family thinks I'm planning to die because I'm doing that but if I would die, they would either throw it out or give it all away. I have donated a lot of stuff but want to sell some of it so I have money to do more of the things I want to do/see.

Petite - Glad your PCP appointment went well. Will your husband need radiation even though it's benign? I have a friend's MIL that had benign tumors and they did radiation, not surgery. Maybe it depends on where and what type it is.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: sounds like the tumor is treatable and at least there is something to target. I think mocame is correct about the location determining the treatment.

mocame: You sound like me. All the things I buy, I tag with what I paid and it's value. I've shown my sister and brother this so they will know in case anything happens to me. I don't plan on going anywhere soon so I'm also trying to sell some things to get money to do more of what I want to do. My coin sale will be near the end of June. I've almost got enough glassware and other stuff to have some sort of auction.

mocame, We did some traveling when I first retired. I am so glad we did.

So, I started looking at information on ebay so I can start selling some of my things. I used to sell on ebay years ago and things have really changed. In that research process, I came across some ebay sellers that have a YouTube channel and show on video their trips to garage sales and thrift shops and the things they buy to resell...Now I want to go to garage sales and start selling things again! Ugh! I just don't have time to do it.

I ended up getting a cold on Thursday and ended up with a fever and feeling really bad on Saturday. I haven't been sick in a longtime. I felt better but not 100% today and stayed home from our family gathering at my SIL's house. ☹ It's been cold and wet the past 2 days. The high yesterday didn't even reach 50!! Brr! It should warm up into the low 70s tomorrow. I hope to go for a walk if I feel up to it.

mocame: so sorry you aren't feeling well. I've been lucky and hadn't had many colds in my lifetime and I surely hate getting one in the summer. I have a few things listed on Ebay and Poshmark. Seems like everything is very slow. Facebook is even worse since they changed the format last year. I'm now addicted to liveauctioneer.com. I buy stuff and have it delivered. You have to find the auctions that don't charge as much for shipping or stick to stuff that's not fragile or heavy. although, I bought four very large vases (12" or larger) and this company charged less than another one that was only shipping some coin boxes. Today I was working on getting another collection of coins ready for another auction house. My first collection will be auctioned in late June. I want to get rid of some of my glassware in the next few months.

Hi, Ladies. I went to an antique sale at Webster flea market and found a few trinkets. Some need rehab and some are ready to sell. Wish it would rain.

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

It has been a long time here too without rain. There might be some hope for Thursday or Friday. I spoke with the tree cutting man on Monday and he promised to come today to cut the tree but I've not heard from him. I might have to look for someone else but he was the cheapest of three that I contacted. I think I might replace the tree with either a bottlebrush or crepe myrtle tree. Do you all know anything about these trees?

I love antiquing and thrifty shopping. Will you be able to repair them?

Kamboka, No rain, yet. I am hoping to replace some missing rhinestones and they should be good to go. The vacant lot next to be has a large dying pine. It is burying the side yard in pine needle. Hope it doesn't fall on the house during high winds. I have a crepe myrtle that has not grown in the 12 years we have lived here. When it blooms, I say oh I forget that was even here. LOL Mine might be a dud.
