Kamboka - Is selling on Poshmark a lot different than ebay? I haven't tried to sell on any other platforms besides Facebook and ebay.

Yesterday wasn't a good day joint/bone pain wise but I was sitting more at work so that probably was why. I called my pharmacy and they couldn't get the Anastrozole by Zydus right now. They didn't know if that was temporary or permanent. Called CVS and after waiting on hold at least 10 minutes just to talk to someone, I hung up. I was at work and I remembered hearing on Facebook that CVS was understaffed and people were waiting a week or more to get their prescriptions. I tried a smaller grocery store pharmacy and they could get it but only for a month at a time. I had to call and get it cleared by my insurance and then contact my MO to get a prescription for just 1 month. What a mess.

Kamboka, I woke up with pains in my legs. Just in case it is dehydration, I have been drinking fluids and increasing potassium foods. (well, so far this am)

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: Now that the weather is getting hot and humid, we do need to drink more fluids with minerals. Do you do coconut water? I keep some Gatorade as well.

mocame: Poshmark does take a fee but I found it easy to keep track of my sales. You don't get paid until the person receives the item and they have to accept it. As a buyer, I like that process. Otherwise, I guess they are similar. It's not really a bidding site like Ebay but you can suggest a lower price.

My insurance company will not pay for 90 days supply unless I use Walmart. I'm not doing that. It's much easier to walk into CVS even if I have to do it every month actually several times a month since my three prescriptions are not on the same timeline.

Well, I'm off tomorrow, thanks to that new holiday they just passed this week. It was a surprise. We got the notice at about 3pm this afternoon. Now, I can estate shop before and after the time the auctioneer comes by. Wish me luck that he takes everything I have for him. I do not want to put the things back up.

mocame, I got my refill and it is another manufacturer. I hope I don't have any problems.

  • mocame
    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - I hope you don't get any side effects from your refill meds. I have other medications that they change the manufacturer and I don't notice a difference. So far just Anastrozole.

Kamboka - Lucky you! I took off on Friday and went to a yard sale and thrift shops. I got a few things and I shouldn't have. I don't have room to store anything. Because the items I have listed on ebay all weigh different amounts and are heavier and bigger, I boxed them up before listing so I knew what the postage would be. So I have big boxes covering my dining room table, on my desk, etc. And I haven't sold anything yet but it's only been about 10 days. It's hard trying to work full-time, sell on ebay, and then spend time with the kids, hubby, dog, etc.

So I got a one month supply of my medication from the old manufacturer. My MO said to take 5 to 7 days off between medications. Thursday night was the last night I took the med. from the new manufacturer. By Saturday morning, the first morning after skipping my 1st day of meds, I felt noticeable much better. I still get joint/bone discomfort in my feet and stiff if I sit for long but it is wonderful! I feel like I have my life back!

mocame, No bad SE, yet. I went to an estate sale on Sat. Got a few things. Husband is doing better. No headaches. Yay.

Glad everyone is feeling better with the meds.

mocame: I can imagine your dining room with the boxes. I have dozens of them plus packing supplies in my garage taking up lots of space. I pulled everything from Ebay and Poshmark to try to sell at auction. The one auction house took 80 something things. I have 130 left over. I contacted one yesterday and he said my china, glassware will not sell well. Today, I sent pictures and my list to another auctioneer in Orlando. I have to go there after the holiday and I can drop this stuff off. The auction house here in town has a very high commission and they don't sell many things at a great price so I'm trying others in the area first. My first coin auction is coming up this Saturday at 2p. I have about 40-45 lots. Here is the link: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/catalog/207780_jun...

My mom, brother and SIL are coming Thursday night. We plan to go to Fernandina Beach on Saturday but it's been raining everyday lately and I think we have several more days of it. I hope it clears a bit so we can enjoy our visit.

Petite1 - I'm glad you don't have any SEs yet. I hope you don't get any.

Kamboka - I hope your coins sell. I don't know anything about coins but they look great!

Well, I spoke too soon! My foot bothered me more than normal yesterday. I'm not sure why except that I sat a lot in the morning. It's still better than when I was on the other medication but more than normal. I told you about my coworker that was dx the 2nd time with stage 4. Well, she is having so much pain that she went for a walk over the weekend and couldn't walk back. The pain was so bad. She met with her MO on Monday and they told her it was the cancer. Ugh. That makes me wonder if the pain in my foot is cancer. I'm probably just being paranoid. My pain is in two places of my one foot. The only problem with my other foot/leg is when I sit too long, I get stiffness/pain in my ankle. I bought new shoes for work yesterday after I noticed some wear at those exact spot on my shoes. Not bad but I thought maybe it would help. I'm also going to check into turmeric but I don't know much about it.

Oh, and my husband tested negative for Lyme's disease. Yay! Although we now need to figure out what his pain is from.

mocame, Glad the test for Lyme disease was negative. Since I primarily sell jewelry, my box pile is small. The jewelry storage has just about taken over the spare bedroom and the boxed jewelry that has sold or is listed takes over the office. Between our health issues, someone is usually sleeping with the jewelry. (It isn't in the bed. LOL)

Kamboka, The coins look great. Good Luck.

The Orlando auctioneer wants my things so now I have to wrap up 130 items and hope it fits in my car to drive them down. Luckily, I was going to Orlando anyways to meet my sister and pick up my mom. We'll spend the night and maybe do something on Saturday before coming back. Any suggestions for a half day adventure?

mocame: Sorry to hear about your friends condition. Where had her cancer metastasized to? When I was on letrozole, I had so many joint aches. I'm thinking that is what your problem might be. Perhaps his new formula of the anastrozole will work out. Knock on wood, I've not had the joint pain since I started anastrozole in January. Now, my foot neuropathy is worse. So far, the acupuncture has not helped. She decided to address the problem from another angle. Since insurance is paying, I'll keep going for a while longer. Glad your husband didn't have Lyme. Could it be one of the other tick diseases? I had RMSF.

petite1: I envy you the small jewelry boxes. I think I'll get rid of some with my packing up my auction items and then breakdown the rest so I can have room in the garage.

I bought a bottlebrush tree to go where my old magnolia was. I'm happy I had it cut down as it give me more light and space.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - I had to LOL when you said someone is usually sleeping with the jewelry. My boxes are big and are on the dining room table, office cabinet, and where ever I could find room in our one closet.

Kamboka - I'm glad the auctioneer would take your items. I don't know much about things to do in Orlando except for Disney/Universal stuff. Disney Spring is free to walk around, eat and shop. I hear there are good outlets down there? What else is there to do at the area where the Orlando Eye (Big giant ferris wheel-type ride) besides rides? Have fun with your mom and sister.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, I swear by tumeric. I started on it when the SE's started. It works for me. There is big outlet mall in Orlando, but I haven't been there in years. It may or may not have survived COVID. Orlando is a big city, so there is lots to do and see, other than Disney. I don't care for big cities, as I enjoy the rural settings, but it is good for a change to see something different.

Kamboka, How do you have time to work with all the auctions? You haven't mentioned the new job in a while. How is it going?

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I'm still working from home so in between meetings, I have time to work on my coins and organizing the stuff I have. I take an extended lunch break on Fridays to hit an estate sale or two. My boss said they are trying to get my renewal set for October. That is good news so I don't have to worry too much about being out of work then.

Tonight I tricked my family into helping me wrap and pack all 147 items. My mom brought about 20 items that I need to catalog and pack up tomorrow. I'm hoping I can get these six boxes into my car to travel down to Orlando.

Kamboka, Wow. I have a fit when I have 20 to to wrap and ship. Glad you have help. Sounds like work is going well. I am glad to you.

    mocame Member Posts: 564

Petite1 - In what form do you take the tumeric? Is it a powder, pill or capsule? I don't know much about it.

Kamboka - I hope the auction goes well. I have sold 3 things on ebay so far. Yay! Working full-time, having the kids at home, the energetic dog, and getting ready to go on vacation leaves me very little time to work on my reselling. But I am enjoying it a lot! Unfortunately, I keep going to yard sales and thrift shops and buying more stuff. I am literally out of room to put things until the kids go to college in August. This weekend I had researched and took over 125 pictures of items I am ready to start listing. I am also trying to get more organized with my recordkeeping, office organization, and shipping materials. My house is total chaos right now.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

mocame, I take it in capsule form. I take it before bed. I had a pretty good ebay weekend. I use to list everyday, but now, just weekends. Most everything I buy is in lots. I get a better deal when buying in volume. Small lots I inventory and store away. Larger ones I inventory as I am listing them. I keep an inventory book and list the selling price. On top of the page I record the cost of the lot. When I went to the antique Flea Market Memorial day sale I spent about $110. I had thought they would bring about $350. All have sold, but 1 item. The total sales came to $157. Sometimes that happens. Another lot that I bought from auction I thought would bring $350 and sales are over $550, already, and more to go. You never know.

Kamboka, how are your sales doing?

I just got back from Port St. Lucie this morning. My mother, brother and SIL were here this weekend and then I had to drive my mom down to PSL. I was a little bummed out with my auction on Saturday. Luckily we were busy and I didn't get to watch it but say the sales later. I did great on about 4 -5 lots. Twenty or so were so-so but the rest were just giveaways. I was so disappointed that a few of my lots valued at $100 or more only went for 25 or less. It was my first consignment and I gave him a few good pieces that I lost money on. I've learned my lesson and will not use him again. He grouped many of my good coins together where if he had them single, they would have brought more. I'm a conspiracy theorist and think he bought my coins cheap and will resell them later. Anyways, we wrapped and boxed 150 items for the Orlando auction. I'm waiting on two other auctions to come up in the next month or so. I hope they do better.

mocame: Forgot to congratulate you on making some sales. You have a lot to get on Ebay. The hard part is getting the photos together. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

petite1: Sounds like some of your items are doing well. I might try Ebay again in a few weeks. I have loads of beautiful crystal and I'm being told the market is cold for it.

My mom comes back on the 9th and stays with me till the 16th. She loves thrift shopping so I might take a few days off so we can shop. I also want to take her down to St. Augustine. I have some tickets for the trolley.

    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

Kambpka, I love the trolley. We have been on it many times.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

I've driven through St. Augustine a few times since I moved here but it was just to get to the beach area where I was looking for houses or picking up Facebook goodies. I'm excited about seeing the sites. I did the sightseeing thingy back in the 80s.

Kamboka, Since we don't have any kids, we would take our grand nephew and niece up there for vacations. If anyone wanted to get off and tour a place we would. Sometimes we would do the whole trolley, then stay on and go back to what we or they were interested in. Now they are grown, married and don't want to hang out with the old boomers. LOL

Oh! You two are making me want to go back to Florida again but other places than Disney! Sounds wonderful!

I had another sale and listed some more things. I keep finding more and more things in my house I want to sell. Then I started watching Youtube videos of resellers going to yard sale and flea markets and buying things...I love those videos. Gave me great ideas of what to look for to sell.

Good morning. The rain woke me up early. I stocked up on hurricane supplies, just in case Elsa come my way. (batteries and nonperishables). The worst thing is the power going out for an extended period of time. If the weather permits, I would like to grill out on the 4th. I hope you and a wonderful 4th.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: I also decided to finally order my batteries and matches. I have one firestarter but thought real matches would be good too. I have a windup radio and flashlight along with some other things. I need to get my 30 gallon barrel out and fill it with water. I don't think we'll have a problem with Elsa but who knows what comes next.

mocame: I am so addicted now to buying and selling. Not making a profit though. I drove down 30 miles to get to an estate sale on Saturday that had ended early. Luckily, there was another one in the area but it didn't have much good stuff. I have my sister's piggybanks that I emptied into a 2 gallon bucket. I was going through it today to separate the coins. Half way through, I saw something fuzzy that I thought was lint; it turned out to be a dead rat. If I haven't told you all already, I'm so scared of rats--dead or alive. I had to wash my hands for 10 minutes to feel comfortable. Now, I have to get the thing out but will deal with that tomorrow. I am ending my search of her coins and will just give her that 2 gallon bucket when she comes in a few weeks.

Last night we had our 40th family reunion virtually. I was the chair of the committee and we worked really hard to prepare videos for the program. It turned out really well. Of course, I was busy during the two hours so had to watch it again today to really see it. Now, I don't have that to do and am bored.

I wanted to have some Mayport shrimp for my 4th meal. Went to my two favorite place and they were closed. I still wanted fish or shrimp so ended up at my 3rd choice who was open.

It's beeing raining here since about 3pm. I think it should stop in the next hour. We are in a slow rain pattern. We've had rain almost everyday for the last three weeks and iwth the hurricane passing over, it will be at least another week.

I will be keeping both of you in my prayers while Elsa is around. You two were the first ones I thought of when I heard the hurricane might hit Florida. We are heading to the beach on Saturday in DE but thankfully it should be through there on Friday.

I was contacted by a buyer on ebay who says she is buying 6 of my items and wanted to combine shipping. I repackaged everything into one big box and I'm just waiting for her to request the invoice from me. Hopefully she is legit and it will happen.

I forgot to tell you two that I bought a lightbox to help with my ebay pictures. I was struggling getting nice clear light pictures because the lighting in our house is so dark and with me working during the day. Now I can take bright pictures anytime of the day with this. It's great. I'm off tomorrow for the observance of the fourth of July so I think I'm going to go thrifting briefly before I go get groceries and stuff I need for the beach.

I hope you two have a great July 4th!

Kamboka, it looks like Elsa comes in over me and exits over you. Subject to change, of course. I would have stroked out over the rat. I had a veggie garden once. I was out their working in it, felt something by my foot and it was a live rat. Yikes

mocame, I do a lot of combined shipping. Easier for me and cheaper for them.

  • kamboka
    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

mocame: I'm so happy you are selling on Ebay. I might start back again after I get all these auctions situated. I also am happy when the seller will bundle my order. It saves time and money. So far, when I am taking my photos, it works out. I try to get close to a window for nature light and my phone does a decent job. I hope that you enjoy the beach next week. We've had so much rain that when I went to an estate sale this weekend, people's cars were getting stuck in the mud. My grass is looking great and many of my flowers are coming up.

petite1: My mom, who is coming back from S. FL next week, said that she would remove the rat and finish looking through my coins. I have about one gallon left in that bucket. This morning I went through about 2 gallons and only found 20 wheat pennies. None of them were worth anything. My skin crawled when you mentioned the rat running over your foot. When I was a teen, we lived in an old house. One day one ran across the floor. I jerked my arms out of their sockets. Both arms when numb and I couldn't move them. My mom thought I was crazy as I was crying, "my arms, my arms". The feeling came back in a bit but that is how I am with rats/mice--dead or alive. Most people can't believe that I've lived overseas so long with my great fear of rats. I was lucky not to have any major experiences with them. I traveled iwth rat traps, rat glue, rat poisoning, etc. :)

petite1: I see that Elsa is heading your way this afternoon. I hope that it goes by quickly and with little damage. We will get some of it on Wednesday. The ground is so saturated so there will probably be flooding in some areas. At least it will be gone before I have to drive down to Orlando on Friday.

  • petite1
    petite1 Member Posts: 2,293

Kamboka, I packed up all the shipping and went to the post office before the rain starts. The post office is in a flood zone. The big truck picks up the packages going north and takes them to Jacksonville about 3:30 or 4:00, so they should be safe. I will probably stay up most of the night if it is very windy and heavy rain. I will be glued to the weather channel. LOL

    kamboka Member Posts: 1,079

petite1: Finger crossed for you. Today, we actually didn't have any rain and the sun peaked out a few time. Tomorrow is supposed to rain most of the day. They are saying west Jax would have the worst of what is coming.

When to Mayo today to see the doctor about my surgery and decided to visit the finance office since I got a bill for over $4000. I told the lady that I wasn't going to pay for that second night. Before I could finish talking she said that the insurance company had come back and now they were lowering the bill by $2000. I got a copy of the bill and the costs are crazy. It was $40,000 for the surgery! $10 for one pill. Health care is ridiculous here. A few years ago, I had abdominal surgery and a breast reduction in South Africa. They kept me in the hospital for three nights and the total cost was less than $4000.
