Am loving the memes and quotes and jokes and satire today!

Watched some footage from the Women's March in DC...recalling the huge one back in 2017......they sorta bookend---(hopefully!) the Coming and the Going of Donald Trump....

This below is naughty but it made me chuckle...don't do much of that lately!

Ruthbro - ouch, why is everything bad, insane about Trump, actually true ? And smiles on your subtle punctuation change

Trishyla - yes share the site/this thread

Miriandra - thanks for the reminder to check the status of the drop-off/mai-in-early ballot. Dropped it off last week.

Spookiemom - please no middle fingers, everybody has the right to free speech, to peaceably assemble. Someone wrote a letter to the editor here, saying how sad it was that someone had flipped off a woman holding a homemade "Be Kind' sign. that woman was me. The person writing the letter lives maybe 1/10th mile from me. I did not see the gesture, but would have smiled, waved, and given the peace sign in response (not that they would have seen the smile under the mask).

Welcome Mia. If you want to try and keep your sanity intact this is one of the best places to do so. Sandy, if I didn't say so before Yay. Negative is always great when it means a test result that gives you reason to relax a while. Thing is -- none of us can stop living. Always things that need doing. I can't abide ( so far anyway ) the idea of someone picking out my groceries for me, but I do try to keep distanced, always masked, and try not to be in the stores overlong.

Glennie, Dh and I are always looking for Biden'Harris signs. There are a lot of Reps. here. I'm hoping they are at least a mite less fervent than the hard-core, but to tell the truth I 'm not at all sure. People here almost always ( I think unless they meet up at one of the political meetings held in the county ) are reluctant to talk politics or even hint which way they go. A lot of that is that they are in business and I think don't want to annoy someone into finding somewhere else to park their outlay. My bill's are retired but all here know they are giant pains in the backsides. We have an old section of town where many yrs. ago was only for black people. Many are still there though the city is open to them wherever they wish to buy but there are a lot of Biden signs there. I drive that way ( on purpose ) because I just love seeing the signs.

MinusTwo: I adore candy corn as well. If I get my candy soon I'll likely be trying not to think of " the" picture in my mind as I eat it.

Trill, I await some of your good stuff too.

Ruth: Your memes are always fantastic.

A friend wrote me today this about Mitch McConnell and FB.... interesting reading for sure... am so happy there's someone else out there who despises MM......

I've been a hater of MM for years. He's a snake-on-the-take, and nothing more. Kaintucky is the 26th largest population in the nation. The entire state population is less than a third the size of Los Angeles (where I grew up). In March 2020 there were 1,452,616 total registered voters in Kentucky. There are 209,209 MORE democrats registered than republicans.

Of the ones that voted in the last General election, there were 734,936 dems and 637,924 repubs… and yet, MM is on his 400th year as leader of the Senate. The MINORITY in Kentucky is running the whole country all the way to the supreme court.

MM won the primary with 60.2% of the vote. According to analysis by the University of Minnesota, this is the LOWEST voter support for a Kentucky U.S. Senator in a primary by either party SINCE 1938!

Yet, he wins the state by 56.2% of voters (806,789 votes). So, now we know who runs America: MM's wealthy handlers who've never even seen his state. It's one thing to ensure less populated states have an equal voice in government (2 senators for every state), but altogether different when a handful of voters decide the rules and fate of the entire nation.

--SENATE MAJORITY LEADER MITCH McCONNELL (R-KY): "Once we confirm Judge Wilson today, this Senate will have confirmed 200 of President Trump's nominees to lifetime appointments on the federal bench. And following number 200, when we depart this chamber today, there will not be a single circuit-court vacancy anywhere in the nation for the first time in at least 40 years. As I've said many times, our work with the administration to renew our federal courts is not a partisan or political victory. It is a victory for the rule of law and for the Constitution itself. If judges applying the law and the Constitution as they're written strikes any of our colleagues as a threat to their political agenda, then the problem, I would argue, is with their agenda."—

Imagine. Republicans actually announce that these judges have been nominated by dt, who has probably no idea who they are, nor read anything about their political bias. MM considers it his crowning achievement in politics.

My son came across this today:

"WSJ confirms what we've suspected: Mark Zuckerberg directly intervened to prevent progressive news orgs like @CourierNewsroom from being included in Facebook's News Tab, while sharing meals with Ben Shapiro + exchanging texts with Jared Kushner

No longer. Mr. Zuckerberg is now an active political operator. He has dined with President Trump, talks regularly with White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, and has pressed lawmakers and officials to scrutinize rivals including TikTok and Apple Inc., people involved in the discussions say."

Glennie Levy county isn’t ringing any bells. When we came here 35 years ago the north end of my county still had active Klan, and POC just weren’t seen. I’ve heard of cross 🔥 around that time.

Trill was in PCP the other day. Everyone I saw had double masks on.

    Yay Sandy!

Hi Chevy! I haven't really noticed the smoke that much - we're cooped up in the house. I finally got a negative COVID test, so I can go back to work again.

Last week we got the notice that even though Denver Schools is letting the elementary schools re-open, they decided to put off opening the middle and high schools until November. a) Not surprised. And b) we had both kids set for distance learning until the end of the semester anyway, so the change didn't impact us. We knew it would only be a matter of time until a student or teacher tested hot, and one cohort after another was sent back to virtual learning. It's easier to just stick with distance classes instead of worrying about when we'd have to change plans again. :p

Red tide is for real, and no joke. Happens around here. Dead marine life washes on shore, bakes in the sun, stinks. The air itself is nasty. Like the stench in DC.

Double masking sounds good! Hadn't thought of that! I have 3 little plastic mask "frames" that I use, under the mask, so it's a lot easier to breathe.... So I can just fit another cloth one on top of the that!

Miranda... Yes, I'm surprised if the schools re-open... I see our neighbors next door, checking on their rebuild... 1 million dollars worth, and I have yet seen either them or their 3 little ones wear a mask! I don't know WHAT they are thinking! Not ever! They bought another home to live in until this one is finished, which should be soon. It has been over a year now and taking a lot more time, and money than they figured. They will rent out the newer house... I guess they like this neighborhood....We are close to old Elitch's..

Sandy, it is such a relief when tests come back negative....! So relieved for you guys!

Fires still going on around here.... such a tragedy for all the families and wildlife that have lost their homes. NOW one in Boulder! And the Cameron Peak fire, getting closer to Ft. Collins, also in Estes Park....

What ELSE can happen, right? Sad

So, for some reason I feel like I'm reading and hearing more about the success of the Democrats voting as well as Reps. voting that way too. Now that we are a couple of weeks away I'm wondering if we are gong to hear ( for sure and for real ) better numbers for Biden. I have talked about hearing some people talk about Biden's numbers being under-reported. I took it to mean that it was being done so that it did not make people too complacent and then have them decide they don't need to come out.

We do need every Democratic vote we can get. I also ( something else to keep in mind ) read this morning about those enablers who are seemingly waiting for the last minute to jump off perhaps the Trump sinking ship. The message was don't buy the I had too story or forget that they gave up a number of good opportunists beforehand to take a better stand -- such as the impeachment, or the gassing of people in Lincoln Park, or the stimulus fights. All sorts of times when they could have walked away. They need to be held accountable to this behavior and not let off the hook.

So, I think it may be interesting to see if we start seeing more and stronger Democratic numbers. This will in fact though likely make Trump go into worse tailspins and spewing more division so he can get his minions in harsh fighting mood. That is already an issue which will likely be worse. The man has no idea how to turn off -- on is the only thing he knows and it is a turn-off for the majority of people. Sad that he is going to be so nastily destructive with his final chance to be sensible and adapt to what is coming with some sort of dignity. History books I think will be unusually un-kind about this exit.

Dropping the last shred of any political waffling on the matter, former CBS News anchor Dan Rather came right out and declared that real rats are better than the Republican elected officials who stood by President Donald Trump until now.

He first compared nervous Trump supporters finally tip-toeing away as his future dims to rats fleeing a sinking ship.

But in one significant way, that's "just not fair to rats," Rather said. Rats aren't as bad as Trump-deserting Republicans because they "tend not to be complicit in driving ships to the bottom of the sea," he said on Twitter.

Has anybody else seen any thing about a last minute dumping Pence and putting a Kennedy on the ticket? Would think it’s too late for that, ballots printed and being used.

What? I think it’s far too late to replace any part of the ticket. Replace Pence with what Kennedy ? This really sounds implausible, but accepted norms no longer apply it seems

While I do appreciate the meme about the bone spurs, there's this:

I looked up this story about Robert ONeill, the Navy Seal who claimed to have killed Bin Laden. He is a Trump supporter. He made news earlier this year for posting a selfie not wearing a mask on Delta airines and getting banned from them. Tho he corrected Trump, telling him Bin Laden was definitely dead, he still seems to support Trump.

So go figure. We are in the land of the living dead. No matter what Trump does, support for him does not die.

    It's sobering.

I do love the alligator (or is that a croc?) meme as well as the hot dog one, ruth!
