CBS Facebook page is hammering Trump’s debate performance by highlighting Biden’s performance:President Trump defends building a relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un: "Having a good relationship with leaders of other countries is a good thing."
Biden: "We had a good relationship with Hitler before he invaded the rest of Europe."

Biden says he hasn't "taken a penny from any foreign source ever in my life" and points out he released 22 years of tax returns. He tells Trump: "You have not released a single, solitary year of your tax returns. What are you hiding?...The foreign countries are paying you a lot."
***
Biden slams Trump for the stalled negotiations on more coronavirus stimulus: "Instead of in a sand trap at his golf course, he should have been negotiating with Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats and Republicans."
***
Joe Biden references U.S. coronavirus death toll topping 220,000 in his first debate answer: "If you hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this...Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America."

I watched. I thought Biden did well. Trump was more subdued than last time, so they both got a pretty equal amount of time and it wasn't as painful to watch as last time. What came across to me was his total lack of empathy (in any area) and his complete lack of a plan (in an area). I can't imagine that anyone would jump on the Trump Train (nor would anyone on that train jump off). I would hope that an undecided voter would see that Biden DOES have plans, and wants to be president of the entire country, not just his followers.

I said I wasn't gonna watch the debate but did......I was curious to see how things would go as I didn't watch the first one....
They're saying that Trump was more restrained and mannerly than he'd been in the first debate, but from what I hear he had no place to go but up. And what's that saying? That the car didn't go over the cliff, just ran headlong into the side of the mountain?
He made up for constantly interrupting by turning his face into a rubber ducky. His expressions (it was split-screen) -- grimaces, frowns, fake disgust looks--after a while made me queasy. His skin was more scarlet than tan and reminded me of the drunk on the beach, turned into a lobster after four hours spent sleeping in his tumbler of g & t.
Biden was on fire. I've never seen him so animated.....he was so deeply involved his stutter broke through now and then. It put the kibosh on the claims that his stammer is faked, just there to win sympathy.....THAT was not fake.....even though it brought back memories of my dad struggling to get a difficult word out and so was tough to watch, it emphasized his sincerity and passion in an indirect way that underscored his authenticity ......
The more Trump weaved about behind the podium, face turned into red Silly Putty, the more he reminded me of the used car salesman trying to dump a terminally-ill 2001 Jeep with 176,000 miles on it onto the back of a first-time teenaged buyer.....
He's such a fool...I can't believe he said "I'm the least racist president in America..."-- or along those lines--at least twice if not three times. If he believes that, how utterly un-aware and un-SELF-aware he is. But we know he doesn't, that he's just saying it because he knows that there are a lot of idiots out there.

I DVR'ed the debate, as we went to an outdoor French bistro wine dinner tonight. But if we hadn't made those plans, I'd probably have gone out to the alley, set the dumpster on fire, and toasted marshmallows. Fine weather for it. No need to watch--all reviews (except OANN and their ilk) had Biden the clear winner. MSNBC is dissecting it right now anyway. So I can delete it and free up a few GBs of drive space. (Need room for tomorrow night's 5 episodes of Schitt's Creek).

We just finished the last season of Schitt's Creek! Be sure you watch their documentary about the filming of the final season. It will warm your heart ❤

I have the documentary saved on my DVR, to watch after i finish all the seasons. I'm on season 3 now. We have it free on demand at the moment,,, hopefully that will last until I finish.
I'll watch all the highlights today (Colbert, Trevor Noah, CNN, etc). I knew I couldn't stay up late to watch it as I would be too agitated to sleep, and I have poll greeter this AM to be awake and cheery at.

This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because I am exchanging a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, and not loss; good, and not evil; success, and not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I have paid for it. -unattributed

I watched, but intended too. It was easier to watch but Trump was just as stupid and giving inane answers. I would have to totally agree with the assessment that it was highly noticeable that Trump had no feeling for all those we have lost due to covid. No empathy at all for those out of work and no care what-so-ever for those waiting for stimulus relief. He just couldn't work up any animation of any kind for these things. Instead he kept hitting on all the outlandish lies and trash talk that won't save him but will make his followers say what a great job he did. He might as well have pulled a Giuliani and kept his hand in his pants. That may have gone right -- nothing else did for Trump. At least though due to fear of mic cut-off and timidity of Kristen Welker, he actually almost behaved. He though was out of steam and un-prepared and if you looked -- you saw it.

I was just watching CNN where they interviewed 12 undecided voters in N.C. None of them thought Trump won the debate. 7 said they had decided and (very interesting to me) one guy, who was very anti-abortion, said if Amy Barret was confirmed, he would vote for BIDEN. So, maybe the Supreme Court rush through will backfire on the Republicans. Some of the extreme 'right' people who detest his lack of ethics won't need him anymore.

I've been using my husband as a Trump barometer (caveat: we're Canadian!). He's a moderate liberal and follows news but not as closely as I follow Trump-related stuff. From the beginning he was of the opinion that given he's a duly elected president, he should be given a chance and thought he would get re-elected. But he changed his tune since the start of the pandemic and thinks he's too much of a clown and people must be tired of him.
Last night he said Biden talked like a president, Trump talked too much about himself and Hunter stuff went over his head (I had to explain what it was all about!). He particularly liked the unity stuff. I have a strong feeling your average indie voter might share the same sentiment.

In this first piece M. Steele just packs it up so neatly and puts a ribbon around it and that is that:
Michael Steele: Trump Did Not Give Voters A Reason To Reelect Him
Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele summed up the final presidential debate as Trump not giving voters a reason to reelect him.

A CNN poll of debate watchers found that Joe Biden won the debate by a margin of 53%-39%, as Trump's attacks were not popular.

There was to be. A couple of times though I could have sworn that I saw mouths move and no sound and then immediately it came back -- so I am wondering if they were both told -- were going to cut out when its time, and that is your signal to cease and desist talking. It was hard to see/hear it, but this happened a couple two or three times--so I'm not sure.

Words to the side of this say that this is where a lot of the campaign money went and it can be expensive as a habit for sure.

Don Jr made a stop and speech in our area. A reporter from the local news was so excited about it, he flubbed up saying his own name. A Trumper commented on the story on the station’s FB page: “Trump will be the first president elected three times!" Oh. My. Talk about the uneducated. So many derogatory comments I could have made, but all I replied was “um...ever hear of FDR?" This person might not even be aware of term limits....
It was said 700 in attendance. Our county covid numbers are going up every day. 50 more since last Friday, and who knows how many after Don Jr speech yesterday.

I ended a friendship last night with a woman who is smart, well educated and voting for 45. She's been posting some of the stuff that tends to be from 45 lovers, which is not at all what I would have thought from her as she's a huge proponent of equal rights, etc. So I posted on her post that I could not and would not vote for someone who has publically bragged about sexually assaulting women (I am a survivor of long term childhood sexual abuse, which she knows because she is/was a good friend). And I directly asked if she were voting for him.
The very long answer was yes. So I thanked her for replying, and said I guess I never really knew her and then I unfriended her on FB and unfollowed her on IG.
She is not a safe person for me, not with those beliefs.

edj3...I'm so sorry.
I don't know, I'm still worried he may be re-elected. I sincerely don't know what I'll do if he is. Cry first but after that I don't know. It sickens me that so many people love him as much as they do and I just can't fathom that. I can't fathom it.

edj, sorry that it had to come to a parting of the ways with your friend. I think it was smart to ask her directly if she was voting for Trump. Also smart to unfriend her.

This is what our country so needs, posted by someone named Sandor Valdes on Thursday:
I"m not one to post this kind of videos but, this felt particularly authentic and honest. During an event commemorating the Parkland shooting victims, the son of Chris Hixon, a school coach killed when trying to stop the shooter, runs to Joe Biden. This is what happens. Now, you can say whatever you want, be as cynical, derisive and partisan as you wish but, this is a great moment caught on camara that speaks a great deal about this man's sense of humanity and kinship. This goes beyond politics and even for a hardened, morose, hopeless sarcastic like myself, it hit home :https://www.facebook.com/sandor.valdes/videos/10158901932801060/

Well, Ruth. That made me cry but I enjoy that kind of a cry. Thanks for posting.
edj3: I too am sorry and it certainly sounds like you totally knew what was right for you, and you did it. Good for you.
I really do think Biden will win this one. I don't know that it will be by much and I do worry about that. It has been said it will be easier to contest. But just as there are reasons to worry, there are the other things that we can't be sure of right now. Like how many R's will actually vote for Biden. Also, I did read where last time out there were many un-decided people, as well as those who hated BOTH candidates. Things are cleaner and clearer now. There no real 3rd. party people to siphon off votes and there are way less of the un-decided people. This will tend to help in the long run. No one can be sure of anything and we also have to remember how shocked we all were in 2016 -- but Trump was un-known then and many people were ( in order to avoid a vote for Hillary ) willing to go with Trump. Many of those people have said they are sorry and won't do that again, now that they see what they got for their bravery of giving Trump a chance.
Lastly I guess I am not going to give energy to the idea of a loss -- I recognize it could happen, but I'm not going to feed the notion by deciding in advance that Biden is going to lose. I just can't do that. I'm prepared to work with what comes, but hoping and praying that we see Biden come through.

I'm worried that Cuban-Americans will give Trump FL and after last night, oil & fracking/shale workers will deliver PA. If that happens, Biden has a very slim chance of winning, and by a hair at that.

Is Trump purposely trying to harm his base? I feel bad for the essential workers who are affected.

It's very thoughtful of Trump to hold his superspreader rally near a field hospital. His supporters will know where to go in 5-10 days.
