Well, Our poll greeters have been on the receiving end of a lot of hate. One of the coordinators is sending this letter to the newspaper in hopes they will print it. I have to admit, I am nervous about being there on Election Day, when supposedly more Repubs will be voting.
Disgusting, despicable and dangerous are only 3 of the many words appropriate to describing the actions of some Trumpers at Early Voting sites this year.
Democrats who are volunteering as Poll Greeters, legally standing outside polling places and exercising their right to free speech as they hand out literature, have been treated abominably in numerous incidents reported to me. Besides frequent harassment and ill-founded complaints directed at Poll Greeters all over the county, there have been some egregious instances at several sites. In Alachua, nasty comments and actions have been so common that Poll Greeters don't want to return there. At Millhopper, a Poll Greeter was dubbed a "liar" by a man who also yelled that she was something rhyming with "witch." Today an un-masked driver leaned out of his car window to cough and spit at the Greeter and, as he balled up and threw a paper at her, cackled that he "wasn't feeling well."
Is this the Great America which Trumpers seek? How tragic!
I hope that on Election Day, all voters respect each other. I know we Democrats will and I call on Republicans to do so, too.

Pingpong, your dual citizenship sounds so interesting! I live about an hour south of Youngstown and an hour west of Pittsburgh, PA in a small town that sits on the Ohio River. It’s a little less than 2 hours from Akron.
I know just what you mean about the distressing Trump signs on lovely lawns. Every day it seems I see more and more signage in my little town in support of the man.

And Ruth, the glitter/Covid analogy is perfection! Just opening up a birthday or Christmas card with glitter on it and you’ve got specks of glitter hanging on your body for days, let alone be near a vial of glitter while someone is creating with it!

10/29/2020The two white athletes got conservatives' support for endorsing Trump, but Black athletes like LeBron James have been told to "shut up" about politics.
The support for the two white athletes highlights a double standard in American athletics. Just a few years ago, Fox News' Laura Ingraham told NBA star LeBron James to "shut up and dribble" after the athlete, who is Black, discussed Trump's rhetoric in an interview with ESPN.
"It's always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball. Keep the political comments to yourselves. ... Shut up and dribble," Ingraham said at the time.
Sports journalist Taylor Rooks summed up the contrast well: "Just want to point out other Trump supporters are praising them. Meaning they actually do love when athletes have political opinions! They just don't like when it's different from theirs. Why don't those two have to shut up and play?"

Wondering if in part the senior and youth voters are going to save us. Feeling more positive today. First day of sun in over a week. I get in the doldrums so easy on the gray and rainy days so I need this coming into the home stretch. While I worry ( who wouldn't ?? ) I also think Trump is being left behind by so many in his party and he is being majorly destructive to ALL people in these last days -- form freezing people to overheating them to exhaustion and just moving on past the bodies --- not to mention those affected with covid. I read some things that make it sound possible ( probability - who knows ) that we could get such overwhelming numbers on election night that we may not have to wait for the later ballot counting. That would be fantastic.
Yes, I will be nervous AND scared, but I've waiting four long years for this and I hope it goes in the best direction to stifle the worsts of what could come from an evil, vindictive person. I do think that there are ( if it looks to be going bad for Trump ) people who won't waste a lot of time jumping off the Trump train. For those slower, hopefully they will be given a bit of a push by those leaving. It won't change my mind about them, but it will be good for the soul to see it.

Charlie Cook of the respected Cook Political Report wrote an article last night titled "Don't expect a contested election." The upshot is that he expects Joe Biden to win by a wide enough margin that the results will be unmistakable, and Trump won't even have an angle for challenging them. There is a good chance that he's right about this; the Cook Political Report is one of the best at calling results
It got me thinking that if Joe Biden wins by a large enough margin, particularly in key swing states, we might see the major networks go ahead and call the election on election night. That would be the ultimate "surprise" in comparison to how the pundits have been framing election night. I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm just saying I won't be surprised if it does. In any case, if you want to increase the odds of that happening, use these final few days to push as many people to vote as you can. )

Per the above post, I didn't even know who Jay Cutler was so I googled him and learned he's a former NFL quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Then I came across an article about him basically endorsing Jack Nicklaus endorsing Trump, and it gave me a good chuckle. Worth scrolling through this article to read the tweets:

Jackie, the gray days get to me, too; we've had several in a row. The upside is next week we're supposed to return to milder temps and I hope that also means increased sunshine.
Glennie, that is sad, sobering and not surprising the Poll Greeters are having to put up with aggressive and abusive voters. How can those attacking the poll greeters not see their actions are the exact opposite of Trump’s claim about making America great again? Despicable.

Jack5ie, Lindt has always been my favorite to be honest.....I love the others but the basic bar they make is so smooth and with just enough sweetness....
Am trying today to keep away from tweets etc...last night I made the mistake of reading a bunch of prognistication articles and how-the-GOP-is-gonna-try-to-screw-things-up articles and they were scary as a REAL ghost on Halloween...also the "shy" Repub. who will vote for Trump but is shy out of fear of being criticized....I think a wave of red is gonna hit our shores next week....will just have to see.....as the articles on the other side--our side---of things keep rolling in as well....
I check those current rosters of polling numbers and keep my fingers crossed that a big chunk of those undecideds or undeclared are or will go for B and not the evil one....
I'm trying to get interested in a couple of Audible books....you know, pretend reality isn't happening......it's now 49 degrees and this time last week was 80, so a sudden get-used-to-life moment here...electric blanket I put down last week that was horrible--just the weight and bulk of it--when it was hot now, of course, feels great.....yay that I didn't yank it up!

Love all the memes and the idea of agree or disagree. When you are too far either way, it then is too far past to be rational in argument. I hope we can find our way back ( it will take some time ) where we can listen respectfully and then answer in kind -- no matter which answer we see as best. I guess that is just good compromise which was once how we were able to get so may good things done. No one liked it all, but everyone got some things they wanted and needed for themselves and constituents.
I do think it possible in time to enter into a new way of going back to workable times and solutions.

You really do have to wonder about the people that can answer yes to this, but I do think they just don't get access or even want it to a full news line up. They go one place and one place only and it exists on the right only.
