Serenity, I know---she's kinda nuts on this one. I think she's just looking for a way to rationalize not wearing the "bothersome" mask...She's not free of her own health issues nor is her anxiety-plagued son who is getting therapy for his psychological issues....you'd think she'd be super-careful about stuff like this...

What gets me about all the early voting--they say could hit 100 million--is that it both 1) means folks DO believe the virus is a threat that's not going away "soon," and believe in it enough to want to avoid long lines at polling places, and 2) that they believe the efforts of nefarious Trump folks (sorry for being redundant!) will affect the validity of their LEGAL vote.

This could not be more wonderful:

"The more I've studied leaders in crisis times—whether it's Lincoln or FDR or Teddy Roosevelt or LBJ during the Civil Rights struggle—they had almost like a family resemblance of leadership traits: the first one being humility, the ability to be able to acknowledge error and learn from your mistakes. I would go from there maybe to empathy as an absolutely critical human quality—the ability to understand other people's points of view and to feel a sense of connection to those other people. All the leaders that I've studied were able to communicate in a way to the people so that they felt a sense of trust in what they were saying. They were inspired to act because of them. And then beyond communication is the ability to control emotions and to remain cool during difficult times. And then at the very end, in someways, you have to have the self-confidence to create a team of people around you who can criticize you, who can question your assumptions, who can argue with you—and then to accept that it's gonna come from the country at large—is such an important quality in a leader."

Welcome cm 2020. You have come to a great place. Wish you could have gotten here a little earlier, but better late than never. Loving everything here since my last post.

Just a couple of things here. Rachel Maddow was good tonight. Had James Carville on. He thinks we will know tomorrow night who won. I hope he is right. I think I am to the point where I would be surprised at nothing -- even far-fetched things. I just keep thinking we are going to see a very blue map. A number of news people have said that since Trump told his people not to vote by mail that he is going to get a huge vote tomorrow night. Well, that may be true, but there will also be a lot of Democratic voters going to the polls tomorrow as well. I'm sure there were plenty of Reps. voting by mail no matter what Trump said. I think some watching will be interesting, but Dh will have it on so I will be keeping an eye tuned on it. We are both turning in early tonight and will likely be up late tomorrow night -- that is if I can stay awake.

Trill, your friend's O2 sats were low when she was at Urgent Care? Well, DUH--she was feeling sick enough to seek urgent medical attention. Would have been just as bad without the mask. Ask her to give you a specific citation to the "Fauci paper" about the "unmasked burying the masked" back in 1918. Bet she either can't or will come up with a link from some bullshit right-wing site.

Speaking of Fauci, Trump has no power to fire him. First of all, Fauci isn't a "policymaking employee" and therefore not subject to Trump's illegal E.O. trashing civil service protections--"illegal" because those protections are statutory, and only Congress can abrogate them via repeal. Fauci does not make healthcare policy for the gov't--that's not his job. He heads the Nat'l Inst. of Allergy & Infectious Diseases, which has no regulatory authority. The CDC does. And second...Fauci doesn't work for Trump. Trump can't fire him any more than he can fire your postal carrier or a nurse at a V.A. hospital. And even if he tries, Fauci refuses to leave and Barr's storm-troopers drag him out (illegally, of course), Fauci is free to go on TV every freaking day and continue to drive Trump crazy. And the networks (except FAUXNoise and OANN) would be delighted to have him on.

Divine, funny you should mention that Carly Simon song--when our best man was driving us from the reception to our hotel, it was playing on the car radio!

Spookie, it was 44 here this AM, you would be needing socks! LOL! I finally dug out the long pants.

OK, election day is finally here. I have an LE therapy app't this AM, but I'll swing by my precinct on the way to see what kind of action is going on.

Question: for those who are tuning in tonight? Where are you watching? I don't want to listen to a lot of chatter,,, but wouldn't mind (in between binge watching Schitt's Creek) checking the numbers. Best TV station or website for just checking numbers?

First time Ray Charles' music used in a political ad, granted permission from his Foundation, and I literally was just thinking of this song this week, intending to put a link to it on my FB page today.

We're watching at home tonight. Have a bottle of bubbly chilling, just in case it's a blow out for Biden! If not, we'll save it until the final tally. I'm anxious but so excited to finally get this monster out of our White House! Smile

Ah, at long last. So many fits and starts along the way to ending this four yr. nightmare. I am happy and fairly enthusiastic. I think I mentioned that some pundits have said ( and his people say it too ) that the Reps. vote for Trump will be very strong tonight -- because Trump told them not to vote by mail. Well, that may be true, but there is also nothing stopping a huge turn-out for Biden on the Democratic side.

I'm deliberately choosing to stand with James Carville. He has said ( and way more than once ) that he sincerely feels that there is going to be a huge blowout for Biden and if that happens he says we will know by 10 p.m. tonight. Well, I'm not at all so sure about that time ( 10 p.m. ) but I've thought for some time that Biden could get the blowout for sure. We have all sort of conditioned ourselves to not trust the polls and to now be nervous about ANY results. Trump has done his level best to foster fear and chaos and dismay where Democrats' are concerned.

I'm just looking for the absolute best picture I can and holding it in my head and hoping with all my heart and soul that we see enough tonight to be as positive as possible that we are going to bring American back home to herself and us tonight. I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve for this and forging ahead. It is the real me. Go Biden and Harris.

Chevy, do you happen to remember what years your bro was with Ray Charles? Erin was on stage with him at USF about 92/93.
