So much for the Biden landslide. I can't see how any women, minorities, disabled, business owners, people effected by Covid, etc., could vote for the orange clown unless they've been living under a rock for the past 4 years. It's very frustrating, I agree. These people must be pretty dumb, and either don't realize or would rather be part of the Trump cult and not paying attention to the fact that they may loose their health insurance, loose their Social Security, and Covid will never be controlled. The polls just closed here so it will be a long night.

There's still hope--but unless Milwaukee's absentee & mail ballot counts (done at scattered locations in the county) are a blockbuster for Biden, WI is lost. So he'll have to take AZ & NV, but if he can't get GA (which despite a huge amt in Fulton hasn't narrowed the gap) & NC, he must get either MI or PA--which are also coming in erratically. I guess even having consiedered chilling champagne at some later point was in itself a jinx. Now too close to bedtime to have a drink w/o making my heartburn worse.

And not being able to retake the Senate? Susan Collins, David Perdue & Joni Ernst winning? Looks like the GOP actually picked off two--Jones in AL and Peters in MI. As to the guy who beat Jones--Tommy Tubbervile, whose only qualification is being Auburn's football coach and a shameless Trump suck-up--the fact that the voters said, "why yes--let's kick out a distinguished prosecutor and replace him with a football coach with no public service experience" tells me that the people of AL--at least the white people--are all morons. Reinforces my decision to keep it one of the few states I haven't visited that I will never visit.

I am just ill. We didn't flip Florida. I was so hopeful. (my county was 62% Biden, but we have always been a blue island.)

And Graham won in SC by such a huge margin. Goes to show you just can't believe those polls.

    Back later.

I went to bed around 10. So disappointed by what I was seeing and hoping that somehow there would be more Biden state wins.

I am too old, too white, too heterosexual, too educated to be immediately impacted by another four years of Trump and his policies. I mean I don't have to worry about birth control or abortion, I have a decent job with healthcare (of course that can change) and my husband has a good job. But I deeply care about the environment and everyone else that WILL be directly and immediately impacted.

I'm in shock here in NC where I really thought Biden had a chance. I know that there is still a slim chance.

How can there be so many more people who support the racist, bigoted, homophobic, anti-science and arrogant views of the Trump administration, than those that don't.

I want to have hope there is still a chance

I want to vomit but if I start I may never stop. I have already been crying. This is just beyond what my pea brain can comprehend. I am so ashamed and pissed to live this country. I am scared to death of what is next and what the future looks like (esp for our daughters). Whether my immediate family will be able to withstand the impact of another 4 years of trump, I don't know, I just don't know.

To add to the sadness of this day, a good friend just e-mailed (she lives in another state) that they are going to have to put their dog to sleep today (he is very old and now unable to walk). My heart hurts so much for her and her family. Like us, their dogs are family members.

As I know all of you are, I am tired. Just so very tired of life being this way, of the violence, the racism, the misogyny, the horrible people that put us in this position with trump. If I have crossed some lines with my comments in this post, I am sorry.

As of this election isn’t enough to make me crazy, we’re probably gonna get hit with a hurricane next week. Glennie, give your brother a heads up, Miami looking pretty definite. Me, a good chance.

A gf is having cataract surgery today, she is a trumper, will keep my mind off things. We just don’t talk about our differences. I’m her driver.

I’m following the EC on Huff

Just checking in. Still winnable, still steal-able. Feels kinds like a repeat of 2016. How Trump can be what he is, do what he does, say what he will and still have supporters lined up to suck his d- - - and spread his propaganda is sad commentary not of the U.S. but of people.

I was up and didn't all night long; I am scared to look at my fitbit to see how much sleep I didn't get.

Whatever happens, it is very discouraging to see how many people are willing to follow an immoral and completely incompetent fool. I think those 'Love Trumpsters' voted straight red right down the line....didn't research the qualifications of their opponents.....don't care.

If Biden wins, he will face a huge challenge to reclaim the 'soul of America' since so many people are evidently without one. If it ends with Trump winning after ALL the votes are counted, then America will get what it deserves; more division, more hatred, more pollution, less protections, more gross mismanagement. I feel ill!

Well, way more surprises than I wanted. I had great hopes and in some places still do, but I am sad. I'm not sure what the pollsters were doing, but I'm thinking just as we should cancel the EC, maybe polling should go by the wayside too. Biden still has opportunity and I'm holding onto that. What I fear most is that the Senate ( that could come around towards us as well ) will not change enough and we will possibly have a Dem. for president with a Reps. Senate. This has ALWAYS been the issue for elections and I think one of the reasons Trump got 2016. For so long now -- our presidents don't get to do the things they held out in the run-up to elections. Then such unrest and upset that Reps. get elected and they just end up wasting any gains made.

Actually it is closer to the truth that I'm horrified at the idea that I really thought people would NOTICE the dead and dying. The dictatorial nature, the destruction of norms along with such serious governmental abuses to the point of treasonous behavior. Am I too rigid ? Do I expect too much ? Apparently so, since I'm old fashioned enough to feel if you pretty much follow the ten commandments you'll be on the right side and who wouldn't want to be there.

Sandy great picture and as for the canines that just fills me up with good. I have to say to date and so far, I can't say I've suffered too much personally since I am retired, have no kids to worry about and some opportunity to pick up a bit of pay with my odd jobs which has been important here as our retirement went for medical expenses ( stroke/cancer ) some time ago. We are paycheck to paycheck ( social security ) but I've managed to keep us above water to a degree. We sill have our home and our cars, though old so I do worry a bit there.

The morality of people just is frightening. Trump is a man that should for the most part get almost no votes ( only from the insane ) and I wonder if any of this can be figured out in some reasonable and understandable way. I won't agree with it anymore than I do this second but I would like to know if possible why people seem to think this is the way to go.

ETA: Count me in on all of that Ruth to the nth. degree.

It's no longer Election Day, but there are several races that are still too close to call — including the states that will determine the presidency and who controls the Senate.

Where we stand: All eyes are on Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan — a trio that now represents the difference between President Donald Trump's reelection and a one-term presidency. As for the Senate, the Democrats' path to majority control has narrowed dramatically, though we're still watching races in North Carolina, Maine and Georgia.

    Path to the White House

Here are the swing states still undecided:

Pennsylvania: Trump is leading with 64 percent of the votes in. With both candidates focusing heavily on Pennsylvania in recent days, if there's a late shift in the race, it's likely to happen there. A sizable amount of the expected votes in both Philadelphia and Allegheny County (which is the home of Pittsburgh) are outstanding. See results>>

Michigan: Trump is leading with 90 percent of the votes in. Former Vice President Joe Biden led in nearly every poll taken of Michigan since he won the primary there earlier this year and heavily outspent Trump. A significant amount of the projected vote remains outstanding in Detroit's Wayne County, a Democratic stronghold. See results>>

Wisconsin: Biden is leading with 95 percent of the votes in. Wisconsin's vote-counting is the furthest along of all the Great Lake swing states. Yet ballots from Milwaukee, the biggest city in the state and a Democratic stronghold, continue to be counted. See results>>

Georgia: Trump is leading with 94 percent of the votes in. Growing diversity and a shift among white voters in the state's big suburbs helped drive the polling between Trump and Biden into a near-tie by Election Day. Several of the populous suburban counties around Atlanta — and Atlanta's Fulton County itself — have a good number of votes still out there. See results>>

Nevada: Biden is leading with 67 percent of the votes in. Nevada was a top retention target for Democrats after the 2016 election. Mail ballots received on Election Day, mail ballots that will be received over the next week and provisional ballots remain to be counted. See results>>

North Carolina: Trump is leading with 94 percent of the votes in. Trump and Biden were locked in a tight margin-of-error race here throughout the fall. North Carolina is the furthest along among the uncalled states. Trump holds a narrow lead, and many of the big Democratic areas have counted the vast majority of their ballots. See results>>

Alaska: Trump is leading with 45 percent of the votes in. The state offers three electoral votes. See results>>

    Control of the Senate

Here are the key Senate races we're still waiting on:

Maine: GOP Sen. Susan Collins is leading with 85 percent of the votes in. If Collins can secure a majority of the vote, she'll win without needing to go to a ranked-choice instant runoff later this month. See results>>

North Carolina : GOP Sen. Thom Tillis is leading with 93 percent of the votes in. North Carolina has been the epicenter of the battle for the Senate in 2020, easily topping $200 million in total spending on its way to becoming the most expensive Senate race of all time. See results>>

Georgia : GOP Sen. David Perdue is leading with 94 percent of the votes in. While national Democrats avoided wading into challenger Jon Ossoff's primary earlier this year, party donors opened up their wallets throughout the third quarter of 2020. Ossoff outraised Perdue by a margin of almost 4-to-1. A candidate has to win a majority of the vote, or Perdue and Ossoff will go to a Jan. 5 runoff. See results>>

Trump Is Furious At Fox News After They Blocked Him From Declaring Victory

Bit of distraction while we all bite our nails. It's still morning in Houston so too early to drink yet.

I think it was Trill & Glennie who posted about the mini-bookstore kit. I received a catalog yesterday from "What On Earth" (whatonearthcatalog.com). They have a bunch of these kits. Examples are bookstore, kitchen, greenhouse, dessert shop, sewing room, balcony, coffee shop, etc. They are listed at $39.95. Looks like they each "do" something since they require battery cells.

I am so disappointed to see McConnell and Graham win but not surprised to see that Trump has already declared himself the winner. If Republicans retain the Senate and Biden wins, will we go four years without a USSC nominee? The thought is appalling.

How will we survive four more years of this insanity if Biden does not prevail?

I had to take Ativan to stay calm. I could physically feel myself trembling. I watched sporadically till 11 pm, went to bed, then got back up at 12:30 am for a bit to see the latest. I saw some guy talking to one Pittsburgh station; he looked familiar but I could not place him. It looked like they caught him on a video call while he was making a run to his kitchen for a midnight snack. In dim light, in a low voice, he calmly talked about how once all votes were counted, Biden would win by about 33 points; he rambled off some states and numbers as to how he was arriving at his calculations and didn't seem rattled one bit. When done, the station said, “thanks...and that was former Governor Ed Rendell." That's when I realized I was listening to the very popular former Philadelphia mayor turned PA governor. It gave me some hope, because of his demeanor and because he knows his shit. It looked like once he was done talking, he might decide to get some ice cream out of the fridge,

I found the big 3 networks' election coverage was very, very confusing. They jumped all over the place and had a gazillion news banners running across the screen. It was way too choppy for me and too many news reporters jumping in with irrelevant information.

Chuck Todd looked like he was sick to his stomach.

If Chuck Todd was sick to his stomach, he's not alone. I was so nauseous I had to dig out my compazine from chemo.

I don't think I've ever felt such despair. I don't recognize my country anymore. I'd rather believe it was massive foreign interference (again) than to believe my fellow citizens chose four more years of this chaos and anger, death and destruction. . It makes no sense to me.

Hopefully Joe can pull it out and win. But we won't have the Senate, so absolutely nothing will get done. Again.

Maybe it's time for an amicable divorce. There's a secession movement here in California. Also in Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. It's called Cascadia and it's looking better all the time. I hate to think this way, because I've always loved my country. I just don't like it right now.
