Hi ladies--
Four years ago I was lucky enough to meet you--and this thread. I was weeping and wailing and gnashing my teeth over this HORROR that had befallen our wonderful, troubled, grand, dark, old, bright, sad, ill, fantastic, optimistic, heroic,
suffering,
surviving
nation.
And now--four years later--WOW!
The eve of a new day!
The orange asshole is gone!
I've never been more proud of this nation than I was November 4th when those numbers rolled in and showed that millions of Americans had done the right thing!
I really despaired that Trump would once again slime, false-promise, and fake his way into a second term, bought and swindled and cheated for him as the first had been.
But no.
America stood up!
Covid, I hate you from the depths of my being.
But thank you.
Thank you for giving us an apolitical happening, a bolt out of the blue, an act of God that shone a light on just how abysmal Trump's administration was in handling a major, lethal crisis.
Of COURSE he failed!
He's failed at EVERYTHING!
Yet acted like the ultimate winner....
But really he's the poster boy for "Fool me once--shame on you! Fool me twice--shame on me!"
People GET YOU, Donald, eventually.
We GOT you!
And didn't make the same mistake twice.
So adios--
Out you go.
Out of your towers,
Out of the White House,
Out of favor,
Out of luck.
Welcome to--
in deep,
In debt,
and, hopefully, In trouble.

Hard to believe we are finally arriving to a better tomorrow. Although the Capitol insurrection was only two weeks ago it felt like forever. I presume we were all waiting for some other ax to fall on us. One of the biggest reasons likely why SEEING Pres. Biden sworn it is so important. We haven't democracy work right for over four yrs. Not only will it be right but not laced with threats and fear mongering.
Most of us here dreaded Trump from the minute we realized we were going to get stuck with him. I did have hopes that he would get ousted for something long before but I had no idea that the Reps. would stick to him so fast. Now I realize that it was luck of the draw for them to get someone they could manipulate so much. All along I thought it would get out of control ( and to some extent it did ) as in Trump turning his back on the Kurds. Yet we had to get all the say here for some of the Reps. to finally say Uncle. I will never trust them any more than I did the Orange thing. Murkowski, Collins, Sass -- all looked promising before they once again hauled out the free pass -- til' now.
Better late than never although I admit I was often on the edge of my seat waiting for us to get here. An empty soulless man took over the WH and unchanged still after four yrs. he will leave. I do not wish him well. I wish him the endless torture me made for us.
Tomorrow we celebrate peace, honor, hope, help, empathy, poise, direction, and a working democracy. Hard work and time and this time we won't be forced as it will come natural to wake up knowing someone of character and dignity will be working with us and for us -- and that is ALL of us.

Obituary for a Failed Presidency - The New Yorker
"... Through it all, Trump remained a unique combination of absurd and dangerous. He spent much of his time watching Fox News and playing golf, and, although he bragged that he knew more than the experts about everything from nuclear weapons to medicine, he displayed little interest in the nuances of governing. He surrounded himself with sycophants and was so historically illiterate he seemed genuinely surprised to have discovered that Abraham Lincoln was a member of the Republican Party. His critics could never quite decide, at least not until the catastrophes of 2020 forced a choice, whether Trump was a clown or a modern-day Caligula. Even up until the storming of the Capitol, many of even his most dedicated critics were not sure that a man they knew to be incompetent and undisciplined and profoundly unstrategic could wreak so much havoc on America's democracy...."

I don't normally watch James Corden (at that hour, I prefer Seth Meyers), but tonight I had been watching Stephen Colbert, and his show led into Corden's--which "cold open" was an amazing Zoom-multitracked parody of "One Day More" from Les Miz. It featured Broadway musical performers recorded at home (across the nation)--including Patti LuPone. Of course, the theme was anticipation of tomorrow's inauguration--with a counterpoint of LuPone's and Matt Lucas's riff on the lowlife innkeeper Thenardiers (Lucas actually played him in London) as MAGA/QAnon morons. Already up on YouTube. (Corden, of course, is a musical theater whiz who scored a Tony for One Man, Two Guv'nors, and was also Oscar-nominated for Into the Woods. We won't discuss the movie version of Cats...).

OMG, I'm viscerally feeling Donald Trump's leaving.....watching him go up those steps into the plane after the weak parting comments full of himself---it hit me that deep down I wasn't sure this day would come--even as late as six a.m. this morning--things have been so wacky and DT has gotten away with so much--I was just so unsure.....
But wow--GONE!!!! GONE!!!! DONE DEAL!
Just getting this toxic substance out of our system feels so great!!!
As the saying goes "When someone tells you who they are, believe them THE FIRST TIME!"
Trump told us who he was--and is--when he stiffed the folks who built his casino decades ago.
Thank God 81,000,000 Americans finally believed him!

Thank goodness! The orange nightmare has departed the White House. At least with him leaving early it allows more time for fumigation of the WH before moving the Bidens' things in. Noon can not come fast enough!

So, coming out of mostly lurking mode on this thread to report: 5 and 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed and started treatment. And this morning, with my MO's approval, I took my last letrozole pill. WooHoo!!
So, So, SO much to celebrate today!!! Crying with happiness and relief as I watch a new era start!! Hoping that it is the start of much better times for all of us.
